Flt. Lt. Michael (Mike) Haywood Wright RAF. A collection of printed documentation, including framed commission certificate, two ID tags and related ephemera, brass door name plaque, etc. Biographical History of The Late Flt Lt Michael Hayward Wright, RAF - 8020923, He was born on January 29th, 1949 in St Austell, Cornwall. His father Hayward Thomas Wright was an engineering officer at RAF St Mawgan, Cornwall. During WWII he was a rear gunner on the Atlantic Convoys. At the age of 19 Michael (Mike) joined the RAF as an Officer Cadet at RAF Cranwell, specialising in engineering. He was moved to navigator training and then subsequently became a navigator instructor, radar officer, ops officer, battalion liaison officer and towards the end of his career navigator/crewman on helicopters. Whilst serving in Belize, Wright was recalled to Germany in 1990 and was then re-deployed as part of Operation Granby and the 1st Gulf War. He was part of the Puma helicopter crew that landed on the Kuwait Embassy during the liberation. Following the Gulf war he was posted to RAF Odiham and joined 33Sqn where he stayed for over three years before returning to RAF Waddington. Flt Lt Wright's log books, which form part of this collection, reveal a very long and interesting career flying many different aircraft, notably many operations as part of a Vulcan Bomber crew including the last flight of out of Swinderby with 617 Sqn in December 1981. Vulcan BII flights are logged to Malta, Sicily, Italy, Cyprus, Goose Bay, Darwin (Australia), Malaya, Germany, Belize and France. Other notable flights include an operation to take Nelson Mandela to Sweden. Prior to his death on 5th July 2022 Mike had retired to Newark where he became a lecturer in IT at Newark College.

A 19thC oak and mahogany longcase clock, with swan pediment hood with bulbous and eagle brass applicator, above two column supports on a single trunk door, on stepped feet, eight day movement with a painted cream dial depicting Oriental figures, with two eights and pendulum, 232cm high, 45cm wide, 23cm deep.
A Victorian satin walnut bedroom suite, comprising a double wardrobe, the outswept pediment over a central mirrored door with a rectangular bevelled glass plate, opening to reveal an interior with hanging rail and hooks, above a frieze drawer, raised on a plinth base, 211cm high, 135cm wide, 55cm depth, a dressing table with an arched mirror raised on scrolling supports, over three frieze drawers, the base with three further drawers over a pair of cupboard doors, raised on a plinth base, 164cm high, 151cm wide, 61cm depth, and a chest of drawers with two short over four long graduated drawers, raised on a plinth base on bun feet, 136cm high, 116cm wide, 52cm depth.
