THOMAS SPEAKMAN, London, a late 17th century figured walnut eight day longcase clock, the 11" square brass dial with cherub head spandrels, silvered chapter ring, subsiduary seconds and date aperture, the hood with barley twist pilasters above a long trunk door with lenticle, foliate and bird marquetry, 78" high.
A North Staffordshire Railway general purpose HANDLAMP, the rear door stamped "FROGHALL" and "N.S.R.C.D". The remains of a Baynton brass maker's plate on the reducing-cone. Complete with vessel; rape-oil burner; copper reflector; top loop-handle, and all glasses. Partially repainted. Kingsley and Froghall station, on the Churnet Valley line between Leek and Uttoxeter, opened as "Froghall" in 1849; was renamed in 1907, and closed in 1965, only to be recently re-opened by the Churnet Valley Railway.
A GWR 1-aspect square safety lamp stamped "GWR" on the side of the tall chimney. The rear door, with substantial brass fittings, opens to reveal a "GWR" stamped vessel and rape-oil burner. Integral reflector; top swinging handle; square lens; back handle. 13" tall. In fine original condition. Rare.
