Anton Kolb, Vienna, a baroque grande-sonnerie ebonised bracket clock: the movement having a verge escapement and Viennese grande-sonnerie strike on two bells, sounding the quarter and last hour at each quarter, the backplate fully engraved with floral decoration, the engraved seven-inch brass break-arch dial having a silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, Arabic outer five minute numerals and with the maker's name Ant Kolb in Wien engraved either side of VI o'clock, having two subsidiary dials to the arch for 'Schlag Nicht/Schlagt' and 'Repetiert/Repet Nicht' along with a further decorative central boss, the dial centre with date aperture and a false pendulum aperture, with decorative brass hands, the bell-top ebonised case with applied giltwood decorative edges of the door, a gilded brass floral mount to the front of the top, cast-brass corner finials and surmounted by a cast-brass decorative handle, height 52cms (inc. handle).* Biography Anton Kolb is recorded as working in Laxenburg, a town outside Vienna, from 1781 until at least 1854.
Samuel Atkinson, Bridlington, a mahogany longcase clock: the eight-day duration, five-pillar movement striking the hours on a bell, the 11½ inch break-arch brass dial having a silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals and Arabic five-minute outer numerals, the matted centre having a subsidiary seconds dial and date aperture, with floral and c-scroll cast-brass spandrels to the four corners, with an applied silvered plaque to the centre engraved with the maker's name Saml. Atkinson, Bridlington, the arch having a silvered dial for setting strike/silent, with cast-brass dolphin spandrels to the sides, the mahogany case having satinwood quartered columns with cast-brass Corinthian capitals to the trunk, with oval inlaid panel to the trunk door, the hood having a pagoda top with brass ball-and-spire finials and having fluted columns with cast-brass capitals, the base with shaped crossbanding and standing on bracket feet, height 226cms.* Biography Samuel Atkinson is recorded as working in Bridlington, Yorkshire from before 1760 until at least 1780 with his son, also Samuel born 1772, continuing as a clockmaker in the same town.* Notes Reference, Brian Loomes, Clockmaker and Watchmakers of the World. Josh Penford, London. a walnut and floral marquetry longcase clock: the eight-day duration, five-pillar movement striking the hours on a bell with an inside countwheel, the 10½ inch square brass dial having a raised silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, Arabic five-minute outer numerals, 'meeting-arrow-head' half-hour markings and signed either side of VI o'clock with the maker's name Josh. Penford, London, the matted dial centre having a subsidiary seconds dial, date aperture with engraved decoration to the surround and ringed winding holes, the cast-brass 'cherub-head' spandrels to the four corners having engraved floral decoration between and decorative blued steel hands, the walnut veneered case with panelled marquetry decoration to the trunk door and base, with further marquetry inlay to the trunk and a lenticle glass to the door, the flat-top hood with three-quarter pillars having cast brass capitals and marquetry inlay to the door, the base with a later applied plinth, with a pair of brass cased weights, height 213cms.* Biography Joshua Penford (sometime Penfold) is recorded as being apprenticed in London in 1684 to the Quaker clockmaker Francis Stamper 'At the Golden Ball in Lombard Street', becoming a Freeman of the Clockmakers Company in 1695.
A mahogany secretaire bookcase:, of small size, the upper part with a moulded and reeded cornice, enclosed by a glazed panel door, the lower part with a reeded edge, having a fall enclosing a fitted interior with small pigeon holes, containing three drawers below, on bracket feet, 52.5cm (1ft 8 3/4in) wide, 193.5cm (6ft 4 1/4in) high (19th Century and reconstructed).
A Victorian walnut, crossbanded, foliate marquetry and gilt metal mounted serpentine fronted side cabinet:, with a foliate scroll frieze and applied foliate mouldings and paterae, enclosed by a central cartouche shaped panel door flanked by glazed panels of serpentine outline to either side, between rounded stiles headed with male caryatid masks on a plinth base with applied reeded and husk banding and paterae, 125cm (4ft 1in) wide, 111cm (3ft 7 3/4in) high.
An early Victorian mahogany sideboard,: of recessed breakfront outline, the shaped ledge back with moulded ledge and carved acanthus scroll ornament, the base with three cushion frieze drawers, having a central deep drawer with applied scrolling foliage, flanked by a cupboard to either side, one fitted with sliding trays, the other with deep cellarette drawer and each enclosed by a raised quartered panel door, framed by foliage and flanked by turned columns on carved lions claw feet, 183cm (6ft) long.
A late 19th Century French kingwood, parquetry, marquetry and gilt metal mounted vitrine:, of breakfront outline with acanthus decorated cornice and cushion frieze with channel moulded banding, enclosed by a central bevelled glazed panel cartouche-shaped door with scale and foliate cresting, moulded surround with C-scroll acanthus spandrels and with a parquetry panel below with raised central urn of flowers and foliage flanked by floral marquetry garlands in diagonally banded surround, having similar glazed and parquetry panels to either side and with shaped projecting angles headed with sculptured female classical masks, C-scrolls, shells and foliage, the shaped apron base with central mask and acanthus, on splayed lions claw and acanthus sabots, 173cm (5ft 8in) wide, 180cm, (5ft 10 3/4in) high.
Late Victorian silver carriage clock with eight day repeat movement and lever escapement striking on a gong, white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, silver case with hinged rear door, repeat button and scroll handle, on four bun feet (London 1899), Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company Ltd., 14.5cm overall height (key present) CONDITION REPORT General overall condition good, case has some minor surface scratching and denting, rear door slightly distorted and difficult to close, marks clear, movement appears to be in working order, however repeat on strikes twice and there appear to be five empty holes on back plate, two of which are threaded

Movement appears to be in working order but we have not had it running. Strike works but is erratic, suspension spring is broken, dial is undamaged. Case is very dirty and gilding worn and cleaned off in places, glass panels are all in good condition, no damage, rear door is difficult to open

Mornand Paris, circular gilt metal dial with chased and engraved foliate and bird centre and inset blue and white enamelled Roman numerals, in a decorative gilt metal case with boulle work interior and exterior decoration, four corner mounted terms with urn finials, full-length glazed door with applied figure of a female playing a lyre, removable caddy-style top with similar boulle work and twin finials, on four lion paw feet, 55cm overall height (key and pendulum present) CONDITION REPORT General overall condition quite good. Movement is clean and appears to be in working order. Bell is present. Dial is good. No apparent damage to numerals, one tiny hole in dial plate to right of VI. Case also quite good, some areas of boulle work on shoulders are missing, other areas are lifting. Gilt metalwork is good. Caddy-style top has some boulle work missing, mainly on right hand side. Front door glass and side panels may have been replaced at some time. Rear door interior boulle work is damaged and tortoiseshell background is cracked

Last, Bury St. Edmunds, circular gilt metal dial with chased and engraved foliate, bird and vase centre and inset blue and white enamel Roman numerals, in a decorative gilt metal case of waisted form, with boulle work interior and exterior decoration, surmounted by a classical face mask, keyhole shaped glazed door with an applied allegorical panel of angels and tune, removable top with similar boulle work, surmounted by a figure of a child seated on a globe, on four foliate scroll feet, together with the original gilt metal and boulle work bracket, 168cm overall height, including bracket (winding key, door key and pendulum present) CONDITION REPORT Overall clock is very dirty, gilt work is tarnished and worn in places, boulle work is lifting and missing in places, dial is also dirty, some minor damage to numbers, hands are rusty, bell is missing, movement is not original to case and also very dirty. This clock has been in attic storage for some considerable time and we are unable to confirm if the movement is in working order
