1932-1933 BODYLINE ASHES TOUR, an Art Deco silver cased travelling/fob watch, the wavy engine turned square dial with black Arabic numerals enclosing subsidiary seconds dial, in a plain rounded square case with hanging loop, one side engraved "E PAYNTER FROM FERGY" (probably Bill Ferguson) and a kangaroo, the other "ASHES 1933" and St. George and the Dragon, Birmingham 1932, case 1 1/2" square (Illustrated) (Est. plus 21% premium inc. VAT) N.B. Eddie Paynter (1901-1979) hit the winning runs for England in the final test of the now infamous Bodyline Tour, and played with his controversial captain Douglas Jardine and fast bowlers Harold Larwood and Bill Voce. He retired from playing and subsequently stood for the 1951 season as a first class umpire. He spent the rest of his working life stacking wool in a Yorkshire mill and died in Keighley. Bill Ferguson (1880-1957) acted as scorer and baggageman for England. He developed the radial scoring chart (wagon-wheels).Watch does not appear to be in working order (probably overwound). Circa 1911 Brush 10 HP 2 seater Gentleman's Runabout. - Elegant and early classic car - Comes with a massive history of the company and owners club Manufactured by Alinson Brush in Detroit Michigan USA and powered by a single cylinder 1030cc water cooled engine driving to the rear wheels with chain drive and with starting handle. The car runs and drives very well, it has a single lever to change from first to second gear and to reverse. The steering wheel has a hand throttle control and an advance lever, lighting is provided by acetylene head lights and paraffin side lights, the tyres are pneumatic with artillery wooden wheels, the front and rear axles are wooden. The car history is in a very large box and is very comprehensive, with a current V5 document. The last owner last had the car since 2004 and previous owner before that since 1991. A George V hallmarked silver mounted easel backed Goliath watch holder, with cast rim and engine turned decoration surrounding the vacant cartouche, housing an oversized Goliath silver plated crown wind watch, diameter 100mm, the case marked Birmingham 1912. Additional InformationSeconds hand is missing from the watch. Scuffs, scratches, gouges to the case back where the watch has been opened, minor losses tears, the handle is missing from the top of the leather. The easel back is fixed onto the body.
