Industrial Espionage.- Jaguar Mk. VII, file of photographs and detailed information compiled for senior Rolls Royce staff, 33 photographs, all numbered, many captioned, 22ff. typed text plus charts and diagrams, together in loose leaf folder, a typed leaf tipped in to front inner cover lists 7 people (initials or abreviated names) to whom copies of this report were circulated with another longer list ("If anyone in the second list is interested will they please borrow a copy from the Central file or the Experimental Test Office"), the final typed leaf is signed L.G.Ward (presumably the main compiler), original wrappers with car details on 2 labels to upper cover and marked "Central File" upper right in white ink, small folio, 1953.⁂ Presumably Rolls Royce acquired an example of the Jaguar Mk. VII (3.5 litre, 5 seater saloon), considering it a competitor to their own car. This report would have been compiled following extensive and detailed analysis of the Jaguar, covering both strengths and weaknesses of all aspects. The photographs show exterior, interior and details of the engine and other parts.

Robert Stephenson and Co., first separate edition, 4 large folding engraved plates, illustrations, original cloth, paper label on upper cover, spotted and faded, 1838 § Partington (C.F.) An Historical and Descriptive Account of the Steam Engine, 8 folding or double-page engraved plates, contemporary half russia, joints split, spine chipped at head, 1822 § Alderson (M.A.) An Essay on the Nature and Application of Steam..., 18 lithographed plates, 5 folding, illustration in text (plate XIX), with issue no.2840 of 'The Globe' dated January 23rd 1812 containing account of Woolf's Patent Steam Engine loosely inserted, original cloth-backed boards, uncut, paper label chipped, 1834, first editions, some spotting and offsetting, all rubbed, 4to & 8vo (3)⁂ The first was originally published as part of Tredgold's The Steam Engine but then issued separately. The Stephenson Co. patent was taken out in 1833, using six wheels rather than the more usual four and setting the standard of locomotive design for many years.
A Minichamps 1:18 Bentley State Limousine, the burgundy die cast car features steering, suspension, wheels and an opening bonnet with engine, boot and doors. with the kind permission of Her Majesty the Queen; in the original box with perspex display case, approx 28 cms in length together with a New Millennium Edition Die-cast 1:18 Presidential Limousine, in the original box and a perspex display case. A 9ct gold cased side wind half hunter pocket watch, case by Dennison Watch Case Co., Birmingham 1923, 45mm. diameter case with Royal blue enamel Roman chapter ring to case front, white Roman enamel dial signed by the retailer 'W. E. Gray 522 Oxford St. W. Swiss Made', blued steel hands, subsidiary seconds dial at six, the engine turned 7 jewel lever movement also signed by retailer; together with a 14ct gold cased Swiss half hunter key wind fob watch, early 20th century. (2)* Condition: 9ct: Case lacks inner glass. Winds and runs. Dial good with no hairlines. Case good, with small tool marks around thumbpiece from opening. Fob watch: Lacks inner glass. Winds and runs very briefly and erratically. Requires cleaning and possibly further work. Case has some losses from enamel and a few small dings to front. With key.
A Victorian 18ct gold open face pocket watch with Channel Island interest, case hallmarked London 1880, the full plate gilt lever movement signed 'J. P. Genge & Co, Jersey' and numbered 22019, white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, the key with retailer's name 'H. C. Le Sueur, Snowhill, Jersey'.* Condition: Watch tested and working, clear hallmarks. Dial has a single minute nick to enamel near centre. Case good, with just two tiny, feint dings to edge of back. Engine turning good with little wear.
An impressive brass inlaid rosewood musical boardroom clock with triple fusee movement, late 19th century, the gilded brass arched dial with all over floral and foliate engraving, 7 3/8in. silvered chapter ring and silvered Chime/Silent and Cambridge Chimes/Chime on 8 Bells subsidiary dials to the arch, the substantial engine turned movement playing on a nest of eight bells, also chiming the hours on a large gong, within a breakfront case with fluted frieze and gilt brass Corinthian columns, the front inlaid in brass with stylised foliate decoration, spandrels and stars, gilt brass caryatid and foliate grilles to sides, surmounted by a moulded rounded arched cornice and five brass pineapple finials, 28¾in. (73cm) high, on a later shallow mahogany plinth. (2)
A Continental Victorian miniature silver gilt and enamel easel photo frame, marked Sterling, 925, maker's mark PV, elaborately decorated with coloured enamels, pearls and semi-precious stones, the back plate engine turned with central flower decoration, 4½in. (11.5cm.) high.* Condition: In very good condition with no missing decoration.
Three French silver snuff boxes, 19th century, the largest, of rectangular form with incurved sides, the hinged cover with engine-turned and floral & foliate decoration, the base with striped engine-turned design, 3¼in. (8.3cm.) long, together with two smaller engine-turned snuff boxes of varying size & design, gross weight 4.0 tr.oz.* Condition: All boxes with small dings throughout, the interiors blackened.
A Continental gilt metal trinket box, c.1900, of rectangular form, the hinged lid inset with semi-precious stones, pearls and floral decorated blue beads, the box decorated with repeating neoclassical design, the underside engine turned, 3¼in. (8cm.) long.* Condition: In good condition with no damage or repairs.
A 1940s silver & enamel powder compact - Military Interest, John William Barrett, Birmingham, 1946, of circular form with hinged cover, inset with enamel panel with 'Royal Engineers' colours and overlaid badge, opening to reveal a mirror to the lid & powder compartment to base, the underside engine turned with inscribed initials to centre, 3in. (7.5cm.) diameter, gross weight 3.6 tr.oz.
A 1947 Raynal 98cc Autocycle, FSK 350. First introduced in 1937 the Raynal was a new type of auto cycle; powered by the popular 98cc Villiers Junior engine fitted into a cycle frame leaf sprung front forks and hub brakes, 30mph and 140 miles per gallon was promised. A fun candidate for local Vintage Motor Cycle Club runs, it is complete, well presented with excellent paintwork, old and original V5/V5C documents, and Villiers manuals; it will need light re-commissioning before use.
An Edwardian silver small jewel box fitted to hold three rings, Birmingham 1903, together with a George V engine turned leather lined small silver purse and a post war silver coin case. Condition report: No repairs to any of the items. Dents to lid of jewel box. Some very small dents to purse, hinge in good condition.
An Elgin National Watch Co engraved and engine turned 14ct gold full hunter cased keyless pocket watch, the movement numbered 833374, the case numbered 132747. Condition report: Front cover creased, faint cracks to dial. Watch face has hairline crack, hands have some rust on. Tip of second hand missing. Not working. Case back has small dent as does front. Front and back open to 90 degrees. No glass. Weight 105.5.
