The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points.

A Victorian Silver and Enamel Vesta-Case, by Deakin and Frances, Birmingham, 1894, oblong, the front enamelled with a scene of W. G. Grace batting, the back engine-turned, with suspension loop, 50mm high excluding loop, gross weight 16dwt, 24grFully marked on bezel. The cover is apparently unmarked, though in the inside of the cover is tarnished which may be concealing the marks. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening and some minor loss to the engine-turned decoration on the back. There are some minor scratches to the enamel as well as some very minor chips to the edges in places.
