An unusual galvanised watering can, the hinged lid applied with a model of an engine, inscribed to Mr Donaldson Palmer, a present from Paxmans, 34cm W.Provenance: Presumably relating to the engineers and manufacturers of Diesel engines Paxmans, established in the 19thC in the Colchester area, but latterly in 1940, purchased by Ruston and Hornsby Limited of Lincoln.
A GEORGE V SILVER RECTANGULAR CIGARETTE BOX, Art Deco style engraved corners and engine turned hinged cover, cedar wood lined interior, makers Sanders & Mackenzie, Birmingham 1936, width 17cm x depth 8.5cm x height 4cm, together with a George V silver ashtray of square form, engine turned borders, maker's mark rubbed, Birmingham 1934, 9.5cm square, a cased pair of Edwardian silver shall shaped butter dishes, maker Atkin Brothers, Sheffield 1903/04, with a near pair of mother of pearl handled butter knives with silver blades, makers Vale & St John Ltd, Birmingham 1922, dishes approximate weight 2.1ozt, 65 grams and a cased set of six silver handled dessert knives and forks, James Deakin & Sons, Sheffield 1913 (4) (condition: cigarette box has a number of dints to all surfaces, hallmarks partially rubbed, one butter dish has a slight dint to an edge, butter knives have different engraving and one handle is shorter than the other, the longer handle is loose from the silver mount, the ashtray has surface scratches and dints to corners, three of the dessert forks have been glued to the handles and are slightly twisted)

World War Two Kurt Buhligen signed 9x7 b/w photo. Kurt Buhligen (13 December 1917 - 11 August 1985) was a Luftwaffe wing commander and fighter ace of Nazi Germany during World War II. He was credited with 112 enemy aircraft shot down in over 700 combat missions. His victories were all claimed over the Western Front and included 14 four-engine bombers and 47 Supermarine Spitfire fighters. Good Condition. Edward Daniel Johnson, London, 18ct gold hunter pocket watch, circa 1849-55, having an American engine turned and engraved case, 50mm white enamelled dial, signed and numbered 10902, with subsidiary seconds and Roman numerals, gold inner cover, signed back plate with scroll engraved cock plate, keywind movement, 58mm diameter, gross weight approx. 159.2gNB: E D Johnson was a respected London watch and marine chronometer maker. He was a founder member and Vice President of the British Horological Institute, formed in 1858. This particular watch is from his early career working out of Ashley Crescent in Shoreditch.
