A 5" gauge British Rail Class 23 Bo-Bo locomotive, named Sir Thomas Henry, D5902, with petrol engine, 3 forward and reverse gears, battery, 135 cm, together with a scratch built, height adjustable stand/trolley. The ten strong Class 23 were built by English Electric Company in 1959, they were numbered from D5900 to D5909. The last was withdrawn from service in 1971, 'Baby Deltic' D5902 was withdrawn from service on 7th June 1970.

Crossley showed in various exhibitions such as the Royal Academy; Society of Graphic Art; Paris Salon and Manchester Academy, being elected a member in 1950. Had a solo show at Crane Kalman Gallery, Manchester, 1959. L.S. Lowry bought a painting from his first major London show at the Reid Gallery in 1960. In 1959 he moved to St. Ives, Cornwall and became a member of the Penwith Society of Arts and a member of the Newlyn Society of Artists a year later, his election supported by his friend Terry Frost.Artists’ Resale Right (“droit de suite”) may apply to this lot.Condition report: The painting is in very good, original condition with no obvious faults to report. A mid 20th Century 18ct gold pocket fob watch having engraved floral decoration throughout with an armorial crest to the centre, the gilt face having roman numerals to the chapter ring floral engraving and engine turned decoration. Inside of the case marked 18k. Weight 37g. Measures 36mm diameter.
