A 1 inch scale live steam model of a traction engine, built to the L.C. Mason design 'Minnie', finished in green red and black paintwork with spoked and straked driving wheels, no boiler history or certificate, although does appear to have been previously run, 17¾in. (45cm.) long, 12in. (30.5cm.) high.
A rolled gold Mabie Todd Swan Pen lever filling fountain pen, engine turned chevron decoration, no.2 nib, VG; together with a (worn) matching propelling pencil, in original dark blue morocco box. * Condition: - Pen: VG condition - light scratching only. Needs cleaning as lever does not lift due to dried, hardened ink deposits.- Pencil: Very worn showing base metal beneath in places, clip missing.- Case: Good, with some edge wear and scratches. Leather lifting to one side of back edge of lid.

Rev. Malachy Hitchins Account of the discovery of silver in Herland Copper Mine (near Gwennap) Communicated by Sir Joseph Banks on the 12th February, 1801. First edition, 1800, published by the Royal Society of London. Herland Mine is believed to have started in 1717 and runs contiguous to Prince George Mine. In 1726, the mine was rich enough to have a 70-inch Newcombe Pumping Engine and was developed to 120 fathoms. 6 pages plus a fold-out map showing the lodes of Herland and Prince George Copper Mines on a plane parallel to the horizon at one hundred and ten fathoms below the surface of the earth. Good condition.

'Penneck & Dunkin's Patent Equalizer,' 1820. 'A Machine to be attached to Steam Engines working expansive,' three page, 4to, 330cm x 200mm, Vigurs, Printer, Penzance, 1820.Henry Penneck & Robert Dunkin, both of Penzance, patented this machine to improve the efficiency off the steam engine, thereby using less fuel and steam. Trialled at 'Ding Dong' mine on August the 5th 1820, as explained, signed at back by engineer Mr. F. Michell of Redruth, loss to centre fold to an otherwise vg copy of this rare survivor.

Thomas Wicksteed......Cornish Pump.....Engines, 1841. Thomas Wicksteed (Engineer to the East London Waterworks). 'An Experimental Inquiry Concerning the Relative Power of and Useful Effect Produced by the Cornish and Boulton and Watt Pumping Engines, and Cylindrical and Waggon-Head Boilers,' first edition, 6 tables, 8 prelim and 34 pages complete, 40 pages of advertisements, original cloth with gilt lettering to the spine and front cover, interestingly with the bookplate of Robert W. Mylne (civil engineer) designer and builder of blackfriars bridge 1733-1811, a presentation copy from the author to William Chadwell Mylne Esq 1781-1863 (civil engineer), probably son of Robert W, additionally with the bookplate of John Blowey, a very good copy, John Weale, London, 1841.Wicksteed, acting on behalf of the institution of civil engineers, investigated the claims of the high pressure Cornish engine and Cornish boiler, against the older Boulton & Watt principle. The success of the Cornish engine resulted in Wicksteed installing it at the East London Waterworks.

Being the life of Henry Blewett from fisherman in Mousehole. In part four, 1881-1891, Henry returns to fishing in Cornwall before returning to steam on S.S. Umtata, a fateful tragic voyage. Vigurs, Penzance, 1821.Daines Barrington. 'Some Additional Information Relative to the Continuance of the Cornish Language. In a Letter to John Lloyd Esq. Dated March 20th 1776,' only edition, quarto, 6 pages, Barrington met Dolly Pentreath, a cornish speaker, in 1774 and published a report of the encounter, this report is the main claim that she was the last Cornish speaker, a year after the death of Dolly in 1777, Barrington received a letter, written in Cornish and accompanied by an English translation from a fisherman in Mousehole named William Bodinar, stating that he knew of 5 people who could speak Cornish in that village alone, Barrington also speaks of John Nancarrow of Marazion who was a native speaker and survived into the 1790’s.'An Excellent New Ballad Entitled 'The Cripple of Cornwall,' [1785] a copy of the original ballad sheet, with a large woodcut illustration at the head, printed by J.
