A Jaguar Series 3 E-type, V12 Roadster in red, registration JBY 417J, the interior with red piped magnolia hide, chrome wire wheels. This car was given a remarkably in-depth restoration in 1990/91. It was acquired by Mr. Jones just over 10 years ago. The file includes photographs showing the extent of the restoration, The restoration specification includes a new 4-speed Getrag gearbox, a new 5.3 litre engine, a new braking system using modern components and a total re-wire with new loom.

TCH 57274, engine number 85379L410M/TIT, date of original purchase 18.8.95, supplied by Broughtons of Cheltenham, the service schedule was last stamped in 2006. Worksplate, The English Electric Company Ltd Robert Stephenson & Hawthorns Ltd Locomotive Works, England No. 3069 / 8323 - 1962. Ex EE Class 37 built October 1962 and originally numbered D6777. Received TOPS number 37077 in February 1974 and was named BRITISH STEEL SHELTON in September 1985. Currently in Mainline livery and resident at Eastleigh. Face bereft of any paint, rear ex loco. Comes with an alloy engine plate ENGLISH ELECTRIC measuring 16" x 2¼", face cleaned.
Industrial Nameplate, ASTOLAT, alloy construction measuring 22½" in length. Ex 0-6-0DE built by the Yorkshire Engine Company works number 2630/1957 and carried the No.391 ex-Port of London Authority No. 202. Transferred January 1973 to GKN, Castle Works, Tremorfa, Cardiff. Entered into the last auction but the Vendor has now found and entered along with the nameplate, the BT-H brass oval plate as fitted to the lower front of the loco and the alloy 'Yorkshire' plate as fitted to the top front of the loco. This now makes a complete set and much more attractive.
London & North Eastern Railway complimentary Silver Link No. 2509 Model Paperweight. Still in its original box and complete with a small printed card that reads: "Coronation Year Cruises Of The Northern Belle, With The Compliments Of The London And North Eastern Railway". The model, on plinth, measures approximately 5½" in length and has the LNER 'winking eye' motif at each end. One side bears the inscription 'Locomotive Of The Silver Jubilee', the other side 'Streamline Engine Silver Link'. Excellent condition with just minimal rubbing to the box and loco. Best example we have ever seen.

Industrial Nameplate PELICAN, rectangular brass measuring 20" x 5½" together with matching worksplate Avonside Engine Co Limited Bristol number 1604 dated 1912. Ex Mersey Docks and Harbour Board No.15. It was sold on 25th August 1927 and used as a hire loco. On 21st January 1938 it went to G.T. Earle Ltd at Hessle, Hull, this information is annotated on the rear. Has been polished at some time.
Cabside Numberplate 9498, brass construction. Ex British Railways 0-6-0PT built in 1955 by the Yorkshire Engine Company under works number 2552/55. Allocated to Tyseley until 1959, it then moved to Shrewsbury until 1962 ending its days at Old Oak until withdrawal in September 1964. Face only restored.
Tyers mahogany cased, 15 Position Train Describer. Magnificent instrument with top dial showing the following segments clockwise: Team Valley; South Shields Steam; Annfield Plain; Team Valley Excursion; Empty Coaching Stock Electric; Leamside; Sunderl'd Relief; Leamside Excursions; Sunderland; South Shields Electric; Sunderland Excursions; Empty Coaching Stock Steam Or Leeds; Special Excursion South Shields Parcels Or Officers Specials; Light Engine Goods Or Mineral. These segments are repeated in the lower dial. Complete with Peg and when the mechanism is activated, the clockwork ratchet works fine. A rare opportunity to obtain an elusive instrument from Gateshead Signal Box.
Midland Railway Signal Box Diagram BEDFORD NORTH JUNCTION in its original, glazed wooden frame Overall size 20" x 50¾". Dated 12th October 1895 Derby Signal Works, it still has vibrant colour despite some mottling and water staining. The junction box controlled the main line from Oakley southwards to the junction for Midland station and Loop line passing the Engine Sheds.
LNER fully titled, engraved oval brass Worksplate No 1597 Doncaster 1924. Ex J50/2 0-6-0T, originally numbered 3239 then 8938 in 1946 and finally 68938 by British Railways. Allocated throughout its life at Ardsley and withdrawn from there in October 1959. The plate is clearly stamped on the rear rim '3239' and on the rear , lower centre, oddly '8939'. Either the works apprentice used the wrong stamps or it may have been mixed up and applied to a sister engine.
Diesel Electrical Locomotive Equipment Plate, rectangular alloy construction showing the separate panels in AWS tri-colour ground. Top panel is 'Yorkshire Engine Company', middle panel 'British Thomson - Houston Company and bottom panel is Rolls Royce Limited. This measures 17¼" x 7½", is ex loco and has bottom right bolt-hole damage. This plate came from the only loco to wear this livery and it was scrapped at Birds.
Worksplate 'Ruston Hornsby Ltd., Mark 6PS, Engine No. 425658, Lincoln England. Ex Power Starter, supplied to the British Transport Commission as a starter for engine 6VPHL which was fitted to 165DE 431758, British Railways PWM 651. Built August 1959, 0-6-0DE PWM 651 was allocated to Radyr. It became Departmental Locomotive number 97651 in September 1979. After a 6 year spell at Gloucester, it returned to Radyr and finally Canton to be used as shed pilot. By 1998 it had been privately purchased and now resides at the Northampton & Lamport Railway. Together with Pullman Carriage Builders Plates, qty 2 inscribed ' Built By Metropolitan - Cammell England 1950. Rectangular C/I measuring 8¾" x 5¼", both in totally unrestored condition.
GWR Leather Case containing a delve of official Railways paperwork, to include Midland Railway Loco Firing Instructions, Southern Railway Drivers Instruction Book, 2 x GWR General Appendixes to the Rule Book Aug 1st 1936, a hardback book Locomotive engine driving by Michael Reynolds 1898, Fold out map of the LNER, GWR Look Out official, GWR Winter resorts Sept 1933, GWR Train Signalling regulations 1936, GWR Telephone message codes 1939 and various others, well worth viewing.
Industrial Locomotive Cabside Numberplate 2505/79, measuring 21½" x 6¼", chromed brass. Ex 440HP 0-6-0 Diesel Hydraulic built North British Locomotive Co under works number 27592, new to NCB Brandon Sea Colliery in September 1960, to Brandon Pit House Colliery, in January 1968 to Horden Colliery in November 1974 where it carried the name ALPHA, to Easington Colliery in January 1975 and finally Lambton Engine Works. Some of these details are painted on the rear of the plate.
LAWRENCE T. E.: (1888-1935) British Soldier, 'Lawrence of Arabia'. D.S., T E Shaw A/C, two pages, small folio, n.p., 1st September 1933. The printed document is a Brake Horse Power Test Sheet for a marine engine, prepared for the Air Ministry, and contains various technical data relating to oil pressure and water temperature etc., as well as various remarks regarding the throttle. Signed by Shaw at the conclusion of the second page. Both pages with two file holes to edge, not affecting text or signature. VG
WHITTLE FRANK: (1907-1996) English Royal Air Force Officer, inventor of the jet engine. Signed 26 x 22.5 colour print entitled Meteor strikes its first blow by artist Frank Wootton, depicting a Meteor EE216 flown by F/O Dean flipping over a V1 bomb with its wing to score its first combat success on 4th August 1944. Limited Edition number 122 of 850 published to benefit the Battle of Britain museum, 1981. Signed in bold pencil to the lower border by Frank Whittle, F/O Dean and the artist, Frank Wootton. EX
WHITTLE FRANK: (1907-1996) English Royal Air Force Officer, inventor of the jet engine. T.L.S., Frank Whittle, one page, 4to, Chagford, Devon, 21st October 1966, to Raymond Glendenning. Whittle thanks his correspondent for an invitation to a Leadership Lunch although regrets that he is unable to accept 'because, being deeply involved in a patent action which the French firm, Rateau, are bringing against Rolls-Royce, I am confined to the vicinity of the Law Courts….for every day in November so far as I can make out.' Together with Brian Trubshaw (1924-2001, British Test Pilot, the first British pilot to fly Concorde, April 1969) T.L.S., Brian Trubshaw, one page, 4to, Weybridge, Surrey, 15th April 1969, to Raymond Glendenning, on the printed stationery of the British Aircraft Corporation Ltd. Writing less than a week after piloting Concorde for the first time, Trubshaw thanks his correspondent for an invitation to a Leadership Lunch although regrets that he cannot accept 'owing to Concorde commitments'. Also including Francis Chichester (1901-1972, British Aviator and Sailor) T.L.S., Francis, one page, 4to, St. James's Place, London, 22nd September 1964, to Raymond Glendenning, on the red printed stationery of Francis Chichester Ltd. Chichester briefly thanks his correspondent for an invitation to a Leadership Lunch and regrets that he will not be able to attend and asking for his best wishes and regrets to be passed to Basil Spence.
