A 1957 Jaguar 3.4 Mk I automatic saloon, registration number 682 UYB, British Racing green. William Lyons new compact Jaguar would become available in 1955 with the 2.4 litre XK engine, and was conceived to fill the model range between the XK sports cars and the big imposing Mk VII. The public would have to wait until 1957 for the larger 3.4 litre version to become available, and with its 210 bhp engine it was a match for any sports saloon on British roads, with a top speed of 120 mph. This 3.4 litre automatic example was originally supplied by Brown's Garage, Bath, to its first lucky owner, a Mr Filpin. The Jaguar sports its originally supplied colour scheme of British Racing green with a Suede green leather interior as stated on the accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate. The Jaguar has the desirable option of all round disc brakes and sits on colour coded wire wheels. The well appointed interior has recently been fitted with a new headlining. Jaguar's Mk I has seen a resurgence in popularity recently, with Mk Is taking to the race track in ever increasing numbers and a black example starring in the new Endeavour ITV detective series, prices have risen accordingly. The Jaguar is offered for auction with an accompanying history file. V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations

A 1967 Jaguar 420, registration number PLB 847E, chassis number P1F2910BW, cream. Introduced in October 1966 and seen as being the ultimate in compact sporting saloons, the 420 was essentially a restyled S-Type answering some of the criticism levied at the latter's awkward styling. As the name suggested, all cars came with the XK 4.2 six cylinder engine feed by twin carburetors producing a claimed 245bhp. Inside, the wood trim of the S-Type was replaced with padded Rexine but high grade leather still featured heavily in what was a thoroughly British cockpit. This example was first registered in June 1967 to a transport haulier in Romford who subsequently sold the car after just three years to a hotel owner in Kensington. The car remained in his ownership for the next 39 years retiring to Bournemouth with its second keeper in 2007. In February 2009, the Jaguar was sold to a collector in West Wiltshire where it has remained to this day. It comes with a comprehensive service history from 1970-2001 and most MOT certificates from 1970 to the present day. RF60, V5C, MOT to June 2016 See illustration

A 1973 Jensen Interceptor Series III, registration number WSB 143M, chassis number 136/9022, engine number 3C12037, metallic maroon. With the introduction of the Interceptor, Jensen changed from glass fibre bodies to steel, styled by Touring of Milan with the distinctive rear wraparound window they were instantly recognisable and offered true GT performance with cross country mile eating capability. The Series III introduced in 1971 featured a larger 7.2 litre V8, more comfortable seats, central locking and five spoke alloy wheels as standard. This particular example was purchased by the vendor as a restoration project approximately seven years ago. At the time of purchase the Jensen had a recorded odometer reading of 50,019 and had been off the road since 1990. The restoration, only recently completed, has included a bare metal respray in non-original Audi metallic maroon after the body was restored with new panels from Martin Robey. The interior has been retrimmed in cream leather by a Jensen Owner's Club recommended trimmer, the wheels have been refurbished and new tyres have been fitted. The engine and running gear has been fully checked and serviced, brakes were renewed as necessary plus numerous other items associated with a comprehensive restoration. The Jensen was MOTd in November 2015 (odometer reading 50,116) and has only been driven a few miles since. Although not verified, the vendor believes the mileage could be genuine. Interceptors have jumped in value over the last few years and are being recognised for the capable GT cars that they are. With the extensive rebuild that this example has just emerged from it should offer the next custodian great value when compared to its contemporary Aston Martin V8. The Interceptor is offered for auction with a large history file containing receipts and photographs of the restoration. V5C, MOT to November 2016, tax exempt See illustrations

A 1930 Rolls-Royce 20/25 hp Brooklands Sluggard special, registration number DXP 567, chassis number GSR50, engine number Q90, silver. GSR50 was despatched from Rolls-Royce in July 1930 in rolling chassis form to Carrosserie Janssen of Paris to have a Sedanca de Ville body fitted for its first owner Sr Juan Pardo in Spain. In 1937 Sr Pardo moved to London just before the outbreak of the civil war bringing the car with him. In 1940 GSR50 was registered to John Patterson in Paisley, Scotland for the Ministry of Transport, who had the chassis rebodied by Alpe & Saunders Ltd. Two further custodians are registered a Mr James Weir of Glasgow in 1952 and then Mr James Hugh also of Glasgow in 1956. The last known custodian before the car was taken off the road in 1967 was a Mr Thomas Crawley who had purchased the car in 1961. The striking current body which has been modelled on the 1911 Silver Ghost 'The Sluggard' (the streamlined Brookland special) which achieved a remarkable 101 mph at the Surrey racing circuit. The body is constructed in the traditional fashion of doped fabric over an ash frame, a technique which was perfected in early aircraft construction. At the same time further restoration works were carried out, including an engine rebuild, rewire and an overdrive unit was fitted to aid long distance touring. Since the restoration the previous owner used the car regularly for touring including a 1,000 mile tour of France. The accompanying history file contains photocopies of the build cards, receipts, previous logbooks, photographs and magazine articles on GRS50. This very imposing Rolls-Royce started easily and sounded in rude health on inspection for this catalogue, and with its distinctive styling it will certainly make the next custodian stand out from the crowd. RF60, V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations Condition report Report by MW The Rolls Royce is running and driving, and has participated in a long distance rally of 1,000 miles through France, with the previous owner. The car is fitted with overdrive, which should enable more relaxed high speed driving. We have had a reasonable level of interest in the vehicle and the car comes from a deceased estate, so the seller is motivated to complete a sale.

The first keeper retained the car until 1996, with a third deceased owner acquiring the Rolls-Royce earlier this year. The car is finished in a most becoming Midnight blue which was repainted approximately ten years ago at a cost of £13,000. The interior is presented in contrasting parchment leather with recently replaced carpets and dark blue over rugs. The headlining, wood veneers and door cards are equally in fine condition and all in all the interior is a pleasure to sit in. The accompanying history file contains evidence of regular and sympathetic maintenance, including ***a receipt from Gordon Dale (not Frank Dale)*** for nearly £7,000 on recommended preventative maintenance, other receipts from P & A Wood, other marque specialists, past MOTs and general correspondence. A 1961 left hand drive Volkswagen Beetle 1200, registration number 642 UYM, blue. The evergreen Beetle is as popular today with enthusiasts as when they first rolled off the Wolfsburg production line in 1938. This particular 1200 was imported and first registered in the UK in 1971 on registration number GBP 222J, the previous owner acquired the Beetle in 1979 and it had been dry stored until purchased by the vendor in November 2012. Since acquiring the Beetle the vendor has embarked on a sympathetic restoration incorporating as many original components as possible. For safety purposes he has replaced the entire hydraulic braking system, replaced the starter motor, thoroughly recommissioned the engine, and has reinstated the stale air cooling system. The charming Beetle is fitted with an original VW ski rack with period skis. The interior is serviceable but the vendor advises us this is one area of the car which could be improved as time and funds allow. V5C, MOT to September 2016 See illustration

Los 120

A 1953 Austin Healey 100, registration number TDD 47, chassis number BN1 1140267, Healey Ice blue. The sensational new Austin Healey 100 caused a major stir when it was debuted at the 1952 London Motor Show. The all new Healey sports car was intended to be a low cost high performance sports car aimed squarely at the US market. The 100 sourced its major components from the Austin Atlantic saloon including the 2660cc four cylinder engine tuned to 90 bhp which when installed in the lighter streamlined Healey resulted in a genuine 100 mph plus sports car. It was equipped with a four speed gearbox with the bottom gear blanked off which with the overdrive gave five usable gear ratios. The Healey 100 is a muscular sports car for the purest and its performance was not bettered by its successor the 100/6 and was only surpassed when the Healey 3000 became available in 1959. This particular example has been in the vendor's possession for a remarkable 41 years. The car was registered on 1st September 1953 and is arguably finished in the best colour combination of Ice blue with a dark blue interior, the same colour combination as it left the factory. It sits on recently replaced chrome wire wheels with correct style tyres and has a desirable Sebring louvered bonnet fitted. We are advised by the client that he had the Healey resprayed in 1976 and the car still looks bright. Recent expenditure includes the fitting of an aluminium fuel tank and a general health check at a Healey specialist. With a believed genuine 69,000 miles on the odometer, this rare early chassis number Healey 100 is eligible for some of the world's most prestigious sporting events including the Mille Miglia, Le Mans Classic and Tour Auto to name but a few. Now coming to the market for the first time in over four decades this extremely original low mileage Healey is certainly a must for any serious collection. A 1955 Austin A90 Westminster historic FIA rally car, registration number PSV 545, black. This A90 has formed part of a collection of rally cars. It was discovered as a barn find and the vendor informs us that it was exchanged for fabricating a trials sump guard. The Austin has been in the vendor's possession for over 20 years and was previously registered FVV 1344. The A90 was restored to compete in the 1994 Monte Carlo Challenge and was initially rebuilt to original specification apart from twin 1½ SU carburettors, seat belts, fog lights, a Halda trip meter and snow tyres. On its first Monte the Austin as described by the vendor had lost all brakes by the time it had reached Beaune in France but still managed to finish a very creditable and impressive 20th overall. By the time the Austin was ready for its second Monte, the car had been extensively uprated. It now featured a three litre engine from a Wolseley 110, four speed floor change gearbox from an Austin Princess, Wolseley 110 front disc brakes and the ability to fit snow chains to the rear wheels. The Austin has been campaigned in several other rallies, including LeJog finishing 7th overall on one occasion. The Austin is offered for auction with a comprehensive spares package including a spare 2600cc engine, two gearboxes, rear wheels with snow chains and a complete set of glass. The accompanying history file contains numerous receipts, handbooks, past MOTs and expired FIA documents. V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustration

A 1955 Humber Hawk historic rally car, registration number SLJ 205, Mist green. This Humber Hawk has been in the current ownership for over 20 years and has formed part of a collection of rally cars. It has been prepared for classic rallying and has competed in several international rallies including LeJog. This Hawk was acquired by the vendor with two other Humbers in 1995. The cars had been in storage since approximately 1976 and required restoration. The vendor was looking for a new challenge having completed three previous Monte Carlos and he saw the Hawk as a natural entrant for the LeJog reliability trial. A plan was hatched to restore the Hawk in readiness for the 1996 event and the car was restored with a rebuilt engine, floor change four speed gearbox with overdrive, servo assisted brakes, telescopic shock absorbers all round, seat belts front and rear, a Halda trip meter, fully fused wiring loom and tow bar. The rally was completed covering a total of 3,000 miles door to door at an average fuel consumption of 22 mpg. There is a large accompanying history with receipts, expired MOTs (last 2013), LeJog paperwork, finisher certificates for various international rallies, SORNs, a handbook and recollections of its LeJog experience. A 1957 Austin Healey 100/6, registration number 525 YUG, chassis number BN4L-O-35815, engine number 26D763760H, Colorado red with white side panels. Introduced in 1956 the 100/6 preceded the original 100. It was revamped with the C Series 2.6 litre straight six engine, replacing the original Austin Atlantic four cylinder engine, had a four speed gearbox, and a lengthened wheelbase from seven feet six inches to seven feet eight inches, which would allow the inclusion of two occasional rear seats in the BN4 variant. Originally a left hand drive export model which was transported to New York in 1957 and then would appear to have spent some time in California until 1975. Little is known until BN4L-O-35815 arrived back on these shores in 1991 via Stanstead Airport minus an engine. The Healey passed through various owners with varying degrees of restoration and maintenance being carried out, including the fitting of an incorrect 2912cc engine, until a major restoration was carried out by marque specialists Bill Rawles Classic Cars in 2012. During the restoration a new correct 2660cc engine was installed due to the previous engine being unserviceable. Further improvements carried out by Bill Rawles include a front disc brake conversion, Mallory distributor, alternator conversion, spin on oil filter kit, new tonneau cover, a full chassis internal Waxoyl treatment, a set of new spinners, all rubber bushes and gaiters were renewed, a new odometer was installed to match a non-matching instrument, new 72 spoke stove enamelled wire wheels and tyres were fitted, a full gearbox rebuild was carried out with overdrive on 3rd and 4th, various body improvements and engine details were carried out to meet concours condition. Since all of this remedial work was carried out the vendor now describes the car as in an excellent concours condition and his views would certainly seem to be justified as the car was awarded second in class (100/6;3000 Mk I and Mk II) at Austin Healey Club International, Farncombe in 2015 (certificate on file). With big Healeys becoming ever more popular with both the old guard and new enthusiasts, this meticulously restored example and concours entrant would certainly be an excellent example to embark on Healey ownership.
