A well constructed wood and metal model of a speedboat with cockpit and two passenger compartments, the flush-planked hull finished in cream with red waterline and varnished superstructure, the opening hatches to the engine compartment revealing a blue-painted V8 engine with side-mounted fuel tanks, the cockpit with wheel and instrument panel and black material upholstery, matching passenger compartments, the deck with detail including windscreens, lamp, horns, flag posts, ventilators etc, overall length approx 80cm, mounted on a mahogany base. A silver Yard-O-Led propelling pencil, hallmark London 1957, the engine-turned hexagonal barrel with engraved panel 'To Mac from Stirling', together with a photograph of Mr & Mrs McDonald Hobley with the Duke of Richmond at Goodwood and a photograph of D.J.V. McDonald Hobley with an M.G.A. f.h.c., registration mark MH 3, both captioned on the back. Provenance: the propelling pencil was given by Stirling Moss to D.J.V. McDonald Hobley, who was an usher at his wedding. (See illustration)
A 1950 Cyclemaster, mounted on a New Hudson gentleman's bicycle, registration mark RFO 518, with Westminster Council plate attached to the crossbar, the single cylinder two-stroke 25.7cc engine mounted on the rear wheel. Note: this machine is offered as viewed, without a current MOT certificate or Road Tax, with V5 document, old MOT certificate and file with copies of instruction book, parts list etc; it will require some restoration before use. A 1973 Jensen Interceptor MkIII automatic two door sports saloon, registration mark CBY 96M, finished in red with cream interior. Note: this vehicle is offered as viewed, with a current SORN receipt, valid until 30th September 2007, but without current MOT certificate or Road Tax. It has been with its current owner for thirteen years; the distance recorder displays a mileage of 47,494. During the current ownership the engine and gearbox have been rebuilt, the engine with lightweight pistons and an up-rated carburettor. It is fitted with a stainless steel exhaust, a Le Mans louvered bonnet and a full length Webasto sunroof. The car appears to be in generally sound condition but the sills and floor panels will require some attention before an MOT test. A photocopy of the workshop manual is included. A rock crystal parasol handle with gold and enamel mounts, Anton Wildhack, Vienna, circa 1905, scratched inventory number 11(or H)7523 in Secessionist taste, the spherical knop incised with flowers and set with turquoises, the collar enamelled in translucent turquoise over wavy engine-turning within gold bands, wood shaft, with eight tips in original case for J. C. Vickery/ 178/ 181 & 183/ Regent St. W. length 30.5cm, 12in (10) The firm of J. C. Vickery was founded around 1890 by John Collard Vickery in a short-lived partnership with Arthur Thomas Hobbs at 183 Regent Street. Continuing alone after 1891, Vickery extended his premises in 1900 to 179, 181 and 183 Regent Street, with showrooms to the rear at 1 New Burlington Place, where in 1913 he is listed as a goldsmith, silversmith, jeweller, dressing case and fitted travelling bag manufacturer, watch and clock importer, etc., with Royal Warrants from the King and Queen, the King of Spain, the King and Queen of Denmark, the Queen of Norway and the King f Sweden. The business filed for bankruptcy in 1930, the year of Vickery's death, and was acquired by James Walker Ltd. (See J. A model of a live steam horse-less carriage No 170, built to approximately 3/4 inch scale with wooden coachwork body set on brass chassis with copper rectangular boiler above twin cylinder steam engine with hand operated regulator linkage to steam valve, front wheel steering, rear open crank axle with eccentric driven, none working, water pump, brass exhaust pipe and running on polished brass spoked carriage style wheels. 29cm long. 15cm high in total.
An exhibition standard Stuart Turner No 4a vertical live steam single cylinder model engine, built by Mr Eric Lindsay of Bath. Bore 1 1/2in x stroke 1 1/2in with 4in flywheel. The model is finished in grey paintwork with red motionwork and polished brightwork set on treadplate plinth with a brass and perspex case. 10in.(25cm) high in total.
A Stuart Turner No 4 vertical live steam engine, the single cylinder with metal cladding 1 1/2in bore x 1 1/4in stroke, displacement oiler fitted to steam valve chest with eccentric linkage to open crank.
