A continental Art Deco silver and tortoiseshell box, import marks for London 1928, the tortoise shell cover decorated with geometric design set with marcasite stones, the sides embellished with floral patterns, engine turned base, 11mm x 78mm x 53mm, together with a late 19th century tortoiseshell and white metal purse with bi-fold interior, 8.5cm x 5.5cm, and a matching tortoise shell aide memoire case with propelling pencil, 10.5cm x 6.8cm (3) (at fault)CR; Silver example: Tortoiseshell cover is becoming slightly detached at one corner (see pictures). No other cracks or losses to the tortoiseshell, but the cover does show heavy scratching and wear. Some marcasite stones are missing. The box proper is in good order, no splitting, major denting, thinning or repair. Moderate scratching and wear to the exterior, mostly concentrated to the corners.Purse: Tortoiseshell case is in good order, no large cracks, chips or losses. Some small chips around the edges of the purse, and the exterior is quite heavily scratched. Silver coloured mounts show moderate scratching, wear and some loss to the engraved decoration. There is a small area missing to the border of the reverse of the purse. The interior shows minor wear and tear, but is largely in good order.Aide Memoire: Some chips to the edges (see pictures). The exterior case is heavily scratching and worn, but no large fractures. Heavy scratching and wear to the silver coloured mounts, but they are largely in tact. Heavy splitting and fraying to the purple interior.
