A rare silver cased pocket compass with enamel dial. Jesse Ramsden, London, late 18th century. The 1.75 inch circular enamel dial with 36 point rose within band annotated with subdivided cardinal points within outer scale divided for every degree indicated in tenths, with polished steel pointer and in circular case with convex glass, pointer locking lever and suspension loop, the rear engraved Ramsden, London, 5cm (2ins) diameter; with a brass pocket compass, unsigned, late 19th century, with circular silvered dial in moulded brass case with suspension loop, 5cm (2ins) diameter, (2). Jesse Ramsden is recorded in Clifton, Gloria Directory of British Scientific Instrument Makers 1550-1851 as working from several addresses in London 1762 until his death in 1800, however by 1782 both his workshop and principal retail outlet were on Piccadilly. He was one of the finest instrument makers of the period being particularly well known for his invention of a dividing engine and subsequent equatorial telescope stands.
A French Louis XVI style gilt brass mounted white marble small mantel clock. Unsigned, circa 1900. The outside countwheel bell striking movement with floral garland decorated white Arabic numeral enamel dial with cast brass hands within engine turned glazed bezel, the arched case with twin handled urn surmount and ribbon tied cast crest above acanthus side scrolls and tied flaming torch beneath dial, on inverted breakfront base with bowed central section fronted with intertwined laurel cast mount, on engine turned feet, 28cm (11ins) high.
A French Louis XVI style ormolu mounted marble mantel clock. Unsigned, Paris, 19th century. The eight-day outside countwheel bell striking movement with circular white enamel convex Arabic numeral dial inscribed a Paris to centre and with pierced and engraved gilt brass hands within an engine turned glazed bezel, the case with chased gilt surmount modelled as a cherub with a flaming torch supported on a billowing cloud above moulded white marble cornice and side scrolls flanking a black marble rectangular central section applied with cast stylised foliate scroll mounts around dial, on black marble banded plinth base applied with conforming foliate mounts to lower edge and on engine turned gilt feet, 34cm (13.5ins) high.
A French Empire ormolu figural mantel clock Choiselat-Gallien, Paris, early 19th century. The outside countwheel striking movement with silk suspension and circular white enamel Roman numeral dial signed CHOISELAT-GALLIEN, Fab’t de Bronzes du Garde-Meuble, LESIEUR Hs, A PARIS to centre within gilt lotus leaf cast bezel and set into a rectangular plinth with scroll cast decoration above and below and surmounted with an oil lamp and two books applied beside classical male scholar seated on an X-frame stool onto a rectangular base applied with central urn and wreath flanked by flaming torches to front and on engine turned bun feet (lacking pendulum, bell and minute hand), 38cm (15ins) high.
A French gilt brass carriage clock with push-button repeat and alarm. Unsigned, late 19th century. The eight-day two train gong striking movement with replaced platform lever escapement and stamped with trademark AB flanking a star within an oval reserve and numered 267 to backplate, the circular white enamel Roman numeral dial with Arabic five minutes and blued steel Breguet hands set into an engine turned rectangular silvered mask incorporating subsidiary alarm setting dial to lower margin, the bevel glazed gilt case with hinged carrying handle to the repeating anthemion border decorated moulded top above conforming decoration to the uprights, on ogee moulded base with engine turned infill, 14.5cm (5.75ins) high excluding handle; with a leather covered outer travelling case. The eight-day gong striking movement with silvered platform lever escapement and numbered 2232 to backplate, the circular blue on white Roman numeral dial with Arabic five minutes, indistinct signature to centre and blued steel hands within a rectangular engine-turned silvered mask with subsidiary alarm setting dial to lower margin, the Corinthian columns case of smaller proportions with hinged carrying handle above decorated frieze and silvered column uprights, on stepped skirt base with integral squab feet, 14cm (5.5ins) high excluding handle.

The eight-day chain fusee movement with replaced platform lever escapement and stamped with monogram R.E.D. within circular medallion incorporating BREVETTE, PARIS to circumference to backplate, the circular white enamel Roman numeral dial with indistinct signature to centre and blued steel hands within rectangular engine turned mask, the gilt bevel glazed case with hinged carrying handle above cavetto moulded cornice and turned pilasters to angles, on conforming skirt base, 14cm (5.5ins) high excluding handle.
A rare Viennese mahogany ‘Lanternl-uhr’ spring-driven wall timepiece. Unsigned, circa 1830-40. The four pillar movement with canted upper angles to plates enclosing five-wheel train with large spring barrel with wind up ratchet mounted on the backplate, five-spoke wheel crossings and recoil escapement with wood rod pendulum, the 8.25 inch circular silvered brass Roman numeral dial with blued steel hands and outer minute track within engine-turned bezel, the boxwood strung nine-panel case with triangular pediment above glazed pin-hinged front door with slender surround and conforming side windows to hood, the inset trunk with concave throat mouldings above arch glazed lift-out front panel and further apertures to sides, the square base section also glazed to front and sides and with tapered concave-sided foot beneath, 120cm (47ins) high.
A Swiss brass and steel crown escape wheel cutting engine. Unsigned, mid to late 19th century. The cutter pivot block mounted via a screw-adjusting slide for depth adjustment onto the box frame enclosing the 3.25 inch circular index plate divided for 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19 located by a sprung detent fixed to the rear of the frame, the centre arbor passing through the frame to support the work via a steady bracket with slider above, mounted on three down curved iron feet for fixing to the workbench, length of frame 10.5cm (4.25ins); with a Swiss watchmaker’s uprighting tool, late 19th century with bracket fitted with a vertical slider above circular table with two (originally three) securing arms, on turned supports, height of frame 16cm (6.5ins), (2). A closely related crown escape wheel cutting engine is illustrated in Crom, Theodore R. Horological Shop Tools 1700-1900 page 657 fig.1279.
A French brass inlaid ebonised portico mantel clock. Unsigned, mid 19th century. The eight-day striking movement with anchor escapement and numbered 13169 to backplate, with a gilt on black marble Roman numeral dial with mottled marble inset centre and decorative scroll-cast gilt brass bezel, the case with brass strung entablature incorporating gadrooned cornice moulding above four spiral twist columns with gilt engine-turned capitals and bases and with movement and dial set between, on conforming stepped skirt base with block feet (dial probably a replacement), 46cm (18ins) high; with a foliate inlaid ebonised plinth stand 7cm (2.75ins) high, the clock and stand 53cm (21ins) high overall.

Registration number: T545 ARO The Mini was first introduced in 1959 designed by Sir Alec Issigonis, and in 1999 to celebrate the 40 year anniversary of the Mini this model the Mini 40 limited edition was produced, finished in mulberry metallic, red leather upholstery, engine turned dashboard, manual gearbox, alloy wheels. Mileage approximately 23,500, MOT September 1st 2013, road tax 31st December 2012, last serviced 7th January 2011 at 22,753 miles. A fine silver cased key wind fob watch, the back with engraved decoration, the silvered dial with Roman numerals and with gilt floral border and floral engraved central circle, another fine silver key wind fob watch with engraved engine turned back with vacant cartouche. The white dial with black Roman numerals and central floral decoration and another silver cased key wind pocket watch hallmarked for Birmingham c.1886 with engraved floral back and vacant cartouche - the white dial with black Roman numerals with coloured floral edging and centre.(4)
A very pretty 800 silver cased keyless wind pocket watch, the movement and dial marked "J Ullmann & Co Hong Kong Shanghai & Tientsin". the front and back edge inset with a surround of split pearls the back with engine turned decoration with translucent green and mauve enamel and with gilded decoration of a dragonfly with insects, flowers and foliage surround. The white enamelled dial with black Roman numerals and gold pierced hands, the 8 day watch with visible escapement.
