A c1904, West Norwood, London-manufactured bicycle created from B.S.A. fittings, having a 24-inch double-top tube blue-painted frame, cottered bottom bracket, 7-inch chain-wheel driving a fixed-wheel, a central pull stirrup brake to the front wheel, 28-inch Westwood rims, nickel-plated rat-trap pedals and 7-inch cranks. Flat, forward-turned nickel-plated handlebars with cork grips and a period bell are fitted. Other features include a period Lucas rear rack, frame bag, leather saddle and rear spindle mounting step. A 1961 Norman 4 Sports, red and white. The sporting, Italian inspired, lightweight 4 Sports was one of Norman's last models produced. They featured the Villiers 2T engine, drop handlebars, fly screen and pressed steel front forks. This requires full restoration having been dry stored for many years. A 1978 Honda TL125, registration number AVG 520S, silver and red. Introduced in 1972, the TL125 was the start of an illustrious line of trials bikes. The model was further advanced when the legendary Sammy Miller became Chief Development Official in 1974 and the TL125 would remain in production until 1983. This road registered TL125 has had an engine change at some point. A 1959 Velocette Viper, registration number 585 CAC, frame number RS13035, engine number VR3668, black and chrome. Velocette Viper was the smaller 350 brother to the Venom 500. They became available in 1959 and had a production run until 1968. This particular example was first registered in ***Henley Street, Stafford (not Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire)*** in August 1961 and would remain in the county of Warwickshire passing though several changes of hands until 1972 according to information on the original RF60. Our vendor purchased the Viper from Comet Classics in March 2016. Since acquiring the Velocette he has rebuilt the engine and cylinder head with new valves and guides, Omega piston, small end, oil pump and gaskets. He advises us that the motorcycle is now in good condition and has been fitted with Akront aluminium wheel rims and Thorspark electronic ignition. The Viper is offered for auction with the original RF60 which notes a change of frame number from RS16431 to the current RS13035, previous MOTs, receipt from Grove Classic Motorcycles Ltd for parts used in the engine rebuild, Thorspark instructions, service manual and spare parts list. A 1972 Honda CB500/Four, registration number PGC 889K, frame number CB500 2086913, engine number CB500E/2173379, gold. Honda's CB500 was a scaled down version of the critically acclaimed and ground breaking CB750 first seen in 1969. New to the market in 1971, they featured a 500cc version of the inline SOHC four cylinder engine, five speed gearbox, disc front brake and the very distinctive four into four chrome upswept exhaust system. This has formed part of a private collection and has been restored to a show standard by the vendor. It is offered for auction with sundry receipts, past MOTs, SORNS and magazine articles. EXTRA LOT: A 1965 Triumph T90 350 Sport, registration number FRC 50C, frame number H37646, engine number H37646,blue. This T90 350 Sport has been with the vendor since 2004. FRC 50C has been used by the vendor on classic runs including the Circuitous Del Mendip and he advises use that the Triumph is running but will require a new battery for its next MOT. A 1972 Benelli Tornado Mk I 650, registration number YOD 682K, frame number ES2430, engine number 2439, grey. A machine for the parallel twin connoisseur, the Benelli Tornado was first exhibited at the 1967 Milan Show with production not starting in earnest until 1971. They always cost considerably more than their British counterparts so comparatively few were imported into England, with the majority of the production finding their way to the lucrative American market. This very original example was imported from Italy and was first registered for the British roads in April 2016. It passed its last MOT without any advisories. This Italian exotic motorbike would be a great addition to any collection, and is accompanied to auction with a history file containing Old Italian Bike Register dating certificate inspection report stating that it is totally original, in very good condition and 100% as it left the factory, DVLA paperwork, original sales brochure, other sales literature, a Motorcyclist period road test report (March 1971), a workshop manual (photocopy), magazines and other sundry paperwork. A 1984 Honda XL500R, registration number A632 OEL, red. This XL500R was imported in 2000 and has formed part of a private collection. Finished in traditional red with Pro-link suspension, front disc brake and torque radial four valve chamber four stroke engine. The vendor advises us that the Honda has been well maintained and has seen little years over the last 14 years with an unwarranted 16,587 miles indicated on the odometer. A 1977 Honda CB 400/Four, registration number YAW 134S, frame number CB400F2-1048810, engine number CB400FE1045894, yellow. Honda's 400/Four offered a ground-breaking package during the 1970s. With 500cc performance in a 250cc size frame, they handled well and has style aplenty with the innovative four cylinder engine, rear seat foot rests and cool four into one exhaust system and they would become many a schoolboy's dream machine. This 400/Four comes direct from a private collection and has been restored. The vendor advises us that the Honda is running and has recently been fitted with a new battery but requires further light recommissioning and the usual safety checks before taking to the road due to its time in storage. A 1990 Yamaha FS1, registration number G855 WHW, frame number 3F6116298, engine number 3F6116298, yellow. Yamaha's FS1 was every schoolboy's dream first ride in the 1970s, with 60mph performance in the derestricted form. They have now become a true icon and collector's piece with every important collection needing an example. This particular machine is one of the later reintroductions that became available in 1987. A 1977 Honda CB 750/Four, registration number SRU 695R, chassis CB750-2576908, engine number CB750E-2466710, red. Honda's CB750/Four is highly sought after and regarded by collectors today for their trend setting design and technical achievement in a production motorcycle. With their inline four cylinder engine, disc front brake, five speed gearbox, electric start and distinctive four silencer exhaust system. This instantly made the opposition look obsolete overnight and are truly an iconic design. This 750/Four has formed part of a private collection and is presented in restored condition. The vendor advises us that the Honda is running and has recently been fitted with a new battery but due to its time in storage will require light recommissioning and the usual safety checks before taking to the road. A 1966 Norton Atlas 750, registration number JKE 463D, frame number 118130, engine number 50-E-12 29506, red. First introduced in 1962 the Atlas 750 was in affect a larger version of Norton's existing 650 SS parallel twin. It became available to the home market in 1964 featuring the legendary featherbed frame, roadholder forks and enlarged 750cc engine. This example has been restored by a previous owner with receipts and detailed list of parts used for over £4,000 on file. Still presented in good condition the Atlas will be offered for auction with a large history file, VMCC dating certificate and its current MOT which is passed in March without any advisories. A 1979 Honda CB750/Four K-Z, registration number YKT 611V, frame number RC012015919, engine number RCOIE2016062, black. Honda's 750 K-Z is a sophisticated touring machine, featuring the 748cc inline DOHC four cylinder engine, capable of a top speed of 125 mph. This Honda has been owned and maintained by the vendor, an ex Rolls-Royce engineer, since April 1989. With 18,500 recorded miles from new, the vendor advises us that the motorcycle remains in original condition apart from the fitting of a Motad exhaust and crash bars. Recent maintenance has included the fitting of a new brake caliper with stainless steel pistons, a new cam chain and tensioner, a top end engine overhaul with new seals for valve stems (gaps set at 0.005 inch), and Sureseal Ethanol Resistant tank sealant. At the last MOT in November 2016, the carburettors were cleaned and new float needle assemblies were fitted and a full service was carried out with new oil, filter, plugs and battery. This well maintained 750/Four comes to auction with a workshop manual and offers an excellent opportunity to purchase a well maintained example. A 1968 Norton Atlas, registration number WWA 104F, frame number 20111916, ***engine number 202125664 (not 20/125664/P)***, red and black. This beautifully restored Norton has formed part of a private collection. During the restoration the Norton was fitted with an electronic ignition, a belt primary drive, a disc front brake, a stainless steel exhaust, wheel rims, handlebars and fastenings throughout. The Norton is also fitted with a micro oil cut out switch. The last MOT was expired in January 2016 and has been in storage since. The accompanying file contains expired MOTs and SORNs. A 1968 BSA Bantam D14/4, registration number OTO 161F, frame number D14B9564, engine number D14B98141, blue. The BSA D14/4 was introduced in 1968 with a four speed gearbox and a 175cc two stroke engine. This example has been registered to the current vendor for several years and the last tax disc expired in 2005. The vendor advises us that the Bantam was started regularly until 2016 and is now drained of fuel. A 1959 AJS 16C twin shock trials, registration number WAS 388, engine number 16C2138, black. This particular AJS trials has formed part of a private collection. The AJS was road registered in 1983 and has a long stroke 500cc barrel engine fitted mated to a competition gearbox with low ratios. A 1937 Matchless/Excelsior 500cc Manxman OHC special roadster, registration number USY 596, frame number A81064, engine number (F14) GJC113, black and red. This special was purchased by the vendor in 2007 and has formed part of a private collection. The special comprises of a 1961 Matchless frame fitted with 1930 Matchless heavy weight girder forks with period 21 inch front wheel and standard rear wheel housing a 1937 500cc overhead camshaft Excelsior Manxman engine. The vendor has extensively rebuilt and refurbished the motorcycle including a rebuilt engine with rebuilt crankshaft and new +.040 piston, Miller/Mag Dyno, Miller original electrics, Manxman gearbox, clutch fibre inserts and clutch assistance as Manxman, a eight inch re-nickel plated head lamp, repainted tank in Excelsior style and badged as Excelsior/Matchless, new Smiths speedo front wheel application fitted, and numerous other items. The special will be sold with a copy of the engineer's sheet stating that engine GJC1213 is an original 500cc Manxman engine and a copy of the workshop manual by BM Smith. A 1997 Ducati 600 SS, registration number R536 KFW, frame number ZDM 600S004158, engine number 015023, Rosso red. With 7,500 miles from new, this beautifully presented middleweight Ducati has been cherished by its previous and current owner. The mileage can be verified by a continuous run of MOTs and a comprehensive (mostly Ducati dealer) history. From the last MOT, it can be seen that the motorcycle has covered very few miles in the last few years. A 1969 Gilera 106 125cc, registration number BWA 756G, cream and black. This rare lightweight Italian 125cc single was imported from Italy and first registered in 2009. Aimed at the American market the 106 featured high handlebars and large rear sprocket in the off road trail bike style. The vendor has restored the Gilera with a powder coated frame and ancillaries, repainted the tank and tin work, rebuilt the engine and wheels, new tyres, chromework and fastenings throughout. A 1954 BSA Gold Star 500cc twin shock scrambler, frame number C325270, engine number EXD3, aluminium/black. This genuine BSA Gold Star scrambler is believed to have been owned by works rider Peter Taft. The BSA has formed part of a private collection of off road bikes. There are ***some copies of receipts*** on file for a complete strip down inspection and engine rebuilt in 2007 for £3,280 by Steve Tonkin & Co Ltd. The engine received new main bearings, rings and guides, but the big end was found to be in satisfactory condition and so was not replaced at that time. Since then the Gold Star has seen little use. A 1948 Douglas T35 Sports, registration number CVG 836, frame number 5142/S, engine number T35/S/5917/3S, silver. This sporting Douglas has formed part of a private collection and is now offered for sale due to the vendor retiring from motorcycling. The Douglas features a torsion sprung cradle frame housing the race proven horizontal overhead valve twin engine. The vendor advises us that the motorcycle has been restored with a rebuilt engine having a new crank and STK bore with new pistons, rebuilt magneto, electrics rewired, a stripped down and rebuilt gearbox, headlight conversion (Lucas six inch nickel reflector now fitted with seven inch sealed beam Lucas conversion), and new old stock petrol tank. A 1980 Kawasaki Z900, registration number GHT 108W, engine number ZE1535226, green. This Z900 has been rebuilt by a previous owner with a Z1000 frame in 1980. It has been previously registered as GCM 48V and also on a private plate prior to receiving the current registration. This now iconic super bike is finished in period green, has twin front disc brakes and an after market four into one exhaust system. Said by the vendor to be running and riding but will require light recommissioning and MOTing having been in storage. V5C, no MOT See illustration
A 1949 Vincent HRD Black Shadow Series C, registration number FWV 663, frame number RC4158B, engine number F10AB/1B/2258, black. Vincent's HRD Black Shadow offered performance that most motorcycles could only imagine in the 1950s with a top speed of 125mph and handling to match, courtesy of its canter lever rear suspension and Girdraulic front forks. They were made to exacting standards commensurate to the models cost, which was nearly double that of any of its contemporaries. This matching numbers Black Shadow has had three previous owners and was purchased by our vendor direct from the third owner a Mr Vincent Roethling from Wimbledon, London in a dismantled state requiring full restoration in October 2008. A full and exacting restoration was then carried out with some photographs on file. The restoration was completed in December 2009 and a new MOT was issued. Since then the Vincent has only been run a couple of times on the vendor's drive, and has been displayed for the majority of the time in the vendor's drawing room. Due to the length of time that the Vincent has been on static display she will now require some light recommissiong before taking to the road once again. The Vincent HRD Owner's Club member, who is in his 85th year has taken the decision to sell his beloved Black Shadow because he feels that his motorcycling days are over. A 1970 BSA Honda 750/Four Special, registration number DWP 879J, frame number CA72033, silver and black. This Bernie Boulding built special has been part of a private collection since 2007. It features a BSA A7 frame (manufactured February 1954), Yamaha XS650 wheels, an early Honda CB750/Four engine with a Yoshimura 812cc top end conversion, twin megaphone exhausts and disc front brake. The last MOT expired in 2008 and since then the special has been in dry storage. The vendor advises us that the motorcycle runs, but due to its time in storage it will now require recommissioning. A 1955 Sunbeam S8, registration number LBU 431, black. Designed by Erling Pope & Gerry Bayliss, the S7 and S8 were always suppose to be a gentleman's tourer and BSA's flagship model (BSA acquired Sunbeam in 1943). They were loosely based on BMW's R75 which featured shaft drive, smooth power delivery from its single overhead camshaft engine and rubber engine mounts for vibration free riding. The S8 was marketed as a sports version of the original S7 with more agile handling and less bulky appearance. This S8 has come from a long term ownership and has been used by the vendor on classic bike runs.
