1923 Austin Seven 'Chummy' TourerRegistration no. BP 8020Chassis no. A11658Engine no. M1682Odometer reading: TBCMOT: Exempt*Very early and correct example*Restored by Austineers in 1989/1990*Offered for sale by VSCC and VCC stalwart, Paul Tillian To view a video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:A huge success from the moment deliveries commenced in January 1923, the Austin Seven remained in production until 1939. Simple in construction, economical, and easily maintained by the home mechanic, the Seven brought motoring within the financial reach of the man in the street. Its introduction helped save the ailing Austin concern and by the mid-1920s the Seven dominated the light car market in Britain. The range of models on offer had expanded greatly by the decade's end, but the sole version available when production commenced was the 'Chummy', which for many enthusiasts remains the quintessential Seven and is highly sought after. Owned for many years by VSCC and VCC stalwart, Paul Tillian, the current vendor, this early example was restored by Austineers in 1989/1990. Photographs taken prior to restoration are on file and the car also comes with an original handbook, spares book, sales brochure, and a quantity of notes and correspondence. In 1995 this car featured in The Times newspaper (Saturday 11th March edition) in an article by Lord Montagu of Beaulieu entitled 'The first motor for the millions' (press cutting on file). Still on beaded-edge tyres, this charming Austin Seven is in beautiful condition - you don't often see them this good and correct. A rare jewel, the car is only offered for sale because Paul's arthritis means he is no longer able to enjoy it. A superb history file accompanies the car, including various rare original Austin 7 publications; spares include a correct magneto type Austin 7 engine, gearbox and Scintilla Magneto.Vendor Score Total: 82/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1930 Ford 3.3-Litre Roadster with DickeyRegistration no. BF 5790Chassis no. CA65201Odometer reading: TBCMOT: Exempt*Canadian delivered car*Original right-hand drive model*Ideal for VSCC trials and Vintage Hot Rod Association eventsFootnotes:Replacement for the ubiquitous Ford Model T, the Model A went on sale in December 1927. A more complex car than its predecessor, the 'A' was also more powerful, its four-cylinder sidevalve engine producing 40bhp - double the output of the T - which was good enough for a top speed of 65mph. A three-speed sliding gear transmission replaced the T's planetary gears; there was coil-and-battery instead of magneto ignition; and at last there was a brake for each wheel. The T's ungainly styling was abandoned, and the eagerly awaited Model A's up-to-the-minute looks, choice of colours and, needless to say, competitive pricing helped ensure its success. After two years in production the Model A was face-lifted for 1930, receiving wider tyres on smaller-diameter (19') wheels and being mildly restyled with wider mudguards to achieve a lower, more modern look. Model A sales peaked in 1929 when more than 1.4 million were sold, and production continued until the V8's arrival in 1932 saw Ford's four-cylinder car renamed 'Model B'.This Canadian delivered, original right-hand drive Model A was purchased by the enthusiast vendor in February 2019. Formerly maintained by specialists Belcher Engineering, the car benefits from a cylinder block repair and is running and driving well. An alternator and 12-volt electrics are sensible upgrades. Ideal for VSCC trials and Vintage Hot Rod Association events, the car is offered with sundry bills and a V5C document. SRH38389Odometer reading: 88,000MOT: Exempt*Low mileage*Full service history*Large history file with old receipts and photosFootnotes:The Silver Shadow is one of the most important and iconic vehicles ever produced by Rolls-Royce. The epitome luxury at the time of its release, the Silver Shadow was in production for 15 years between 1965-1980 and proved extremely popular for a vehicle at this price point. This 1979 example is a Silver Shadow II, which boasted multiple improvement upon its release in 1977 which included rack and pinion steering and an updated front suspension to improve handling. Presented in Le Mans Blue with a cream leather interior, this example is presented in a very good condition and has a low mileage of just 88,000 miles. 1994 Mercedes-Benz S500 (W140)Registration no. M922 NAGChassis no. WDB1400502A209189Odometer reading: 115,123MOT: 19/05/22*Recent respray*Full logbook*Recent service*MOT expiry May 2022Introduced in April 1991, the W140 generation of S-Class was a significant leap forward compared to its W126 predecessor. The purchase cost was 25% higher than before, however the price was justified as the W140 is one of the most well-engineered cars to ever be produced by Mercedes. There were many innovations (which are now common place on most modern cars), and this includes double glazed windows, a soft-closing boot lid and doors, xenon headlamps, rain sensing wipers, dual-zone climate control, and much more. The W140 also had a good selection of refined yet powerful engines to choose from, and at one point a V16 engine was almost developed for the W140. This 1994 example is an S500 model which is equipped with the renowned 5.0-litre V8 engine that produces 315bhp and 347lbft of torque. It is presented in very good condition throughout and the body has just received a respray. The car comes equipped with a full log book and is reported to be running and driving well. A recent service and MOT has also recently been carried out with expiry in May 2022. A full HPI check has been undertaken on the car which has reported it as a Category D, C and N during its lifetime. This is a lot of car for the money however and it is currently in a very good condition.Footnotes:Introduced in April 1991, the W140 generation of S-Class was a significant leap forward compared to its W126 predecessor. 2017 Porsche Macan GTSRegistration no. to be advisedChassis no. Bearing a strong resemblance to both the Panamera and Cayenne, Porsche's Macan high-performance luxury SUV commenced production in 2014. It shared its basic all-wheel-drive platform with the Audi Q5, though the engine, transfer case, body, and interior were unique to the Macan. V6 engines, both petrol and diesel, were fitted to most models, while a turbocharged inline four was available also. All variants were equipped with a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch automatic transmission. Powered by a 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine, the GTS model, as seen here, was announced as an addition to the range in 2015. A one-owner example, this Macan GTS has covered a mere 1,255 miles from new and is presented in commensurately excellent condition. The car is finished in Volcano Grey with two-tone Mojave Beige and black leather interior. Notable features include the 21' Turbo alloy wheels upgrade; brushed aluminium package; leather-coloured rev counter; leather-coloured Sport Chono package; aluminium roof rails; contrasting interior stitching; and a Bose hi-fi system. This pristine modern Porsche is offered with its driver's manual and service booklet, the latter stamped at 1,015 miles for a running-in service that included new spark plugs and an engine oil change.Vendor Score Total: 99/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1933/1934 American Austin 'Woodie' Station WagonRegistration no. XBV 215Chassis no. 2752593Odometer reading: 910MOT: Exempt*Restored in the USA*Present UK ownership since October 2015*Only some 800-or-so miles covered in the last six yearsTo view a video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:The American Austin Car Company was incorporated in 1929 to manufacture the Austin Seven under licence using locally built bodies. In its first incarnation the company offered a roadster and various coupés before going into receivership. Only after reorganisation in 1937 did it offer a station wagon. When this Woodie was offered at a Hershey auction in October 2013, its catalogue description stated that the car had been 'assembled by an American Austin enthusiast that (sic) used a coupe as a platform', while another document states that the car was restored by Arthur Rabstein of Toms River, New Jersey. The restored Woodie featured in the July/August 1995 edition of The Antique Automobile, with a front cover photograph and report inside. In April 2014 the car was offered for sale by Classic Cars and subsequently sold. The current owner purchased the Woodie from Treasured Motors. The car was imported into the UK in October 2015 and registered by the DVLA on 1st December 2015. Now after six years of ownership, during which time the Woodie was driven just over 800 miles (mainly on Austin Seven Club holidays and to local car shows), the vendor feels it is time for it to give pleasure to a new custodian. Described by the owner as in excellent condition and running very well, this delightful American Austin turns heads and attracts attention wherever it goes.Vendor Score Total: 77/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1956 Porsche A122 Straddle TractorRegistration no. not registeredChassis no. 4354Odometer reading: N/AMOT: Exempt*Twin-cylinder diesel engine of 22 horsepower*Sympathetically restored recently*'On the button'To view a video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:Dr Ferdinand Porsche's design consultancy built a handful of prototype tractors prior to WW2, the first of which were powered by petrol engines, before turning to diesel power, eventually developing a series of one-, two-, three- and four-cylinder air-cooled engines ranging in output from 14 to 55bhp. After the war's end Porsche was barred from producing its own tractors (only companies that had been making tractors prior to and during the war were permitted to do so) and thus was forced to license its designs to other manufacturers. In 1954 Mannesmann AG diversified into tractor manufacture by acquiring the rights to Porsche's engine and Allgaier GmbH's tractor design, setting up Porsche-Diesel Motorenbau GmbH. In 1956 Mannesmann built a new manufacturing facility at the old Zeppelin factory in Friedrichshafen-Manzell where Porsche tractors continued to be built until production ceased. Over 125,000 tractors were manufactured between 1956 and 1963, many of which were exported, Porsche's agricultural products enjoying the same reputation for sound engineering and superb build quality as their road-car relatives. This Porsche A122 Straddle Tractor is powered by a twin-cylinder diesel engine producing 22bhp. Sympathetically restored recently, incorporating some original parts, it is presented in excellent condition and is 'on the button'. We are advised that the vehicle also benefits from a few minor modifications to make daily use easier.Vendor Score Total: 94/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. The 820 Si was added later in 1988, and it was fitted with Rover's 2.0-litre naturally aspirated 16v four-cylinder petrol engine developing 131bhp.With a styling similar to the SD1, this 1990 820 Si is a fastback model that has a very low mileage of just 26,200 miles. 1955 Jaguar XK140 RoadsterRegistration no. 968 XVPChassis no. 810763DNOdometer reading: 41,880MOT: 11/03/2022*Despatched new to the USA*Professionally restored in the UK between 2018 and 2021*Converted from left- to right-hand driveTo view a video of this lot please click hereNewly introduced for 1955, the Jaguar XK140 was broadly similar to, though more refined than, its sensational XK120 predecessor, major engineering changes being confined to repositioning the 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine 3' further forward and the adoption of rack-and-pinion steering. Performance was well up to the standards set by the XK120, contemporary road-tests regularly recording top speeds in excess of 120mph. Its accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate reveals that this XK140 roadster was manufactured in left-hand drive configuration and despatched in January 1955 to Jaguar's East Coast USA distributor Max Hoffman in New York. The XK was equipped with the desirable overdrive gearbox and left the Brown's Lane factory finished in Battleship Grey with red interior trim and Gunmetal soft-top. The vendor purchased the car from a friend of his while it was undergoing restoration by Nostalgia Cars UK of Taunton, Devon. Classic Connection of Hampshire duly completed the restoration, which included conversion to right-hand drive and engine rebuild, and all bills totalling some £175,000 are available together with a photographic record of the works carried out. The rebuild commenced in 2018 and was only completed earlier this year. Running and driving well, this professionally restored Jaguar XK140 roadster comes complete with weather equipment and a comprehensive history file containing, among other paperwork, an old-style logbook; a V5C document; a recently expired MoT (car is exempt); and the aforementioned restoration records. 2004 Bentley Continental GTC CoupéRegistration no. AS02 BMSChassis no. SCBCE63W65C025088*Landmark modern Bentley*Full service history*MoT'd to March 2022The Bentley Continental GT was the first model introduced by Bentley Motors following its acquisition by the Volkswagen Group in 1998, and the first Bentley to employ mass production manufacturing techniques. Premiered in 2003 at the Geneva Motor Show, the Bentley Continental GT realised the concept of the 1994 Java concept car as a more affordable Bentley, to be manufactured in larger volumes than hitherto had been the norm. The Continental GT was powered by a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 engine producing 552bhp and 479lb/ft of torque. A Torsen-type permanent four-wheel-drive six-speed transmission was standard equipment, and the Continental GT could accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds on its way to a top speed of 197.6mph. A mechanically identical Continental GTC Convertible was made available for 2006, followed by another version of the Coupé: the range-topping GT Speed. Currently displaying a total of 80,992 miles on the odometer, this lovely Bentley Continental GT boasts an unusual and very attractive tow-tone colour scheme and comes with full service history. We are advised by the vendor that the air conditioning has been re-gassed, and it should be noted that the tyre pressure warning light is permanently on (a common fault). Offered with its private plate, this awesome looking Bentley Continental GT is MoT'd to March 2022. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

VF3741C66E5246328Odometer reading: 52,984MOT: TBC*Low mileage 205 GTI*Good history*Believed to be earliest surviving 205GTI in UKFootnotes:The Peugeot 205 GTI is an iconic French hot hatchback that is thought to be one of the best ever produced. First introduced in April 1984, the 205 GTI became a quick success due to its playful nature and peppy 105bhp 1.6-litre engine. A 900kg hatchback that could do a 0-62mph run in just 8.7 seconds was staggering at the time, and as a result the car was a hit with young drivers and enthusiasts the like. This 1984 example is thought to be one of the oldest known surviving 205 GTIs in the UK. It has a fully stamped service book dating to when it was new, and it also comes equipped with its original owner's handbook. With the history file there is also a selection of old MOTs, and the car has recently been mechanically recommissioned after a period of dry storage. This is an original, early example with a low mileage of just 52,894 miles.Vendor Score Total: 88/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1934 Bentley 3½-Litre Drophead CoupéCoachwork by Park WardRegistration no. CG 9065Chassis no. B115BLEngine no. N4BOOdometer reading: TBCMOT: Exempt*Present ownership since 1968*Known ownership history from new*An older (1990s) restoration by FiennesTo view a video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:The current vendor purchased this 3½-Litre Derby Bentley in October 1968, his name being recorded in the '3rd Change' section of the accompanying old-style buff logbook. Issued in 1959, the logbook also records a change of engine from the original 'T5BH' to 'N4BO' in August 1961. Interestingly, 'B115BL' was originally scheduled for bodying as a saloon by Vanden Plas, as indicated on the copy build sheets on file. The original customer was Bradley Mathew & Son, who ordered the Bentley for the use of one W Price Esq. The vendor has researched the car's ownership history extensively, and a list of all its registered owners is on file. The Bentley was fully restored by Fiennes some 20 years ago, the whole process extending from June 1991 to October 1993, while the trimming (by Parrish Trimmers) was completed in 1994. The restoration file is around an inch thick and includes the workshop log, all invoices, and miscellaneous correspondence. The car also comes with a 3½-Litre Instruction Book (from 'B150CR'); a modern reproduction of the Service Instructions for Bentley Cars Vol. I (dated 1967); a second, 'leaning back Flying B' radiator cap; and an almost complete set of tools to include a starting handle (probably original); a jack (again probably original: it includes the long part of the handle to turn the jack mechanism, but does not have the actual T-Bar to turn it); and numerous smaller tools of Bentley or Rolls-Royce manufacture (plus a few replicas).Vendor Score Total: 89/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. NNX 804VChassis no. 11603622006781Odometer reading: 218,000MOT: Expired*Formerly Swinford Motors' demonstrator*In dry storage since 1993*Offered for restorationFootnotes:Fast, well-engineered and luxuriously equipped in Mercedes-Benz's finest tradition, the 450 SEL 6.9 first appeared in 1974 and was hailed by Road & Track magazine as 'the fastest, best sedan in the world'. The new super saloon used the long-wheelbase bodyshell of the larger S-Class fitted with an enlarged and developed version of the overhead-camshaft V8 engine found in its predecessor and the leviathan '600' models. All Mercedes-Benz's latest safety developments were incorporated along with automatic transmission and self-levelling suspension as standard. Top speed was 140mph, with 60mph coming up in seven seconds. Formerly Swinford Motors' demonstrator, this example has been in dry storage since 1993 and is offered in need of restoration. The engine runs when connected to an auxiliary fuel supply and given a squirt of carburettor cleaner, and shows full oil pressure, while the beige velour interior just needs a clean. It is reported that much of the electrical system is in working order, including all four windows. The car has had four owners and comes with its service book stamped by Swinford Motors up to 106,000 miles and by one other firm at 134,376 miles (the current odometer reading is circa 218,000 miles). Sold strictly as viewed, the car also comes with handbooks, all MoTs, and a V5C document. Four genuine new-old-stock wings, bought directly from Mercedes, are included in the sale. Property of a deceased's estate1936 Daimler LQ3-20 All-weather Limousine ProjectCoachwork by Salmons & SonsRegistration no. BEL 510Chassis no. 36842Odometer reading: N/AMOT: Exempt*Very rare Tickford all-weather model*Taken off the road in 1987*Offered for restorationFootnotes:Originally registered in Bournemouth, this Daimler LQ3-20 was purchased by the late owner in 1983. It was used regularly until taken off the road 1987 when radiator damage occurred, causing the engine to overheat. Examination showed that the cylinder head was porous and needed welding. This has been done, although no valve seat work or re-facing has been carried out. It is expected that the crankshaft bearings need re-metalling and the crankshaft regrinding. The radiator has a new core and is ready to be re-installed. All parts removed from the vehicle have been stored and are included in he sale.Except for the roof, the body is basically sound with mostly original paint. The chassis is rolling and in good order, with five good original wheels and four new tyres. The decorative door interiors are in restorable condition and the original leather seats are complete, although the rears need restoration. The Salmons' Tickford folding roof mechanism needs attention too but is a rare feature and well worth preserving. The front grille and surround is in good order, as are the front and rear bumpers, while there is a huge rear luggage rack. The windscreen is undamaged and all the Jaeger instruments are in the original dashboard. The original parts manual and historical correspondence come with the car, which has 36,000 miles on the odometer.Vendor Score Total: 34/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. c.1959/1960 Healey Marine 75 Sports BoatChassis no. Hull no. 2119*Glassfibre hull*1,600cc MGA engine*New engine fitted in 2013Footnotes:Around 1952, his company's involvement with Nash-Healey production having greatly reduced (Pinin Farina was now supplying the bodies), Donald Healey took the decision to diversify into boat building as a means of better utilising his production facilities. The first few Healey boats were built by Aquacraft of Bridport before production was taken in-house at Warwick. Healey Marine Ltd occupied a large new workshop, from which would emerge a succession of high quality sports boats. During the 1950s and very early '60s, Healey Marine made around 1,400 boats, although exact numbers are not known. Powered by various types of inboard and outboard motor, all were capable of towing a water skier and are much sought after today by boating and classic car enthusiasts alike.Dating from circa 1959/1960 and finished in its original Powder Blue, this Healey Marine '75' Sports Boat has a glassfibre hull and the standard engine for that model: the 1,600cc four-cylinder, twin-carburettor BMC B-Series unit as found in the MGA sports car. Healey imported the hydraulically operated Warner Velvet Drive transmission from the USA. With 80bhp on tap and a maximum speed of 30mph, the '75' could tow water skiers with ease. The current vendor purchased the vessel at a UK auction in June 2014. The boat's braked road trailer had been overhauled 2013 and a new engine was fitted at the same time. For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

1963 Ford Consul Capri Deluxe CoupéRegistration no. 287 HWCChassis no. H37D252578JEngine no. 116E 77850Odometer reading: 14,768MOT: Exempt*Rare modern Ford*Purchased at the Sharpe Collection sale in 2005*Only 14,799 miles recorded*Highly original example To view a video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:Derived from the Consul Classic saloon and announced in the autumn of 1961, the Consul Capri was the first European-built Ford to carry the 'Capri' name. Available for little more than two seasons, the American-style Classic was an interim model produced pending the Cortina's arrival. Mechanically the Classic followed the pattern established by the Anglia 105E, featuring McPherson strut independent front suspension, a live rear axle, and a 1,340cc version of the Anglia engine. The gearbox and clutch too were carried over from the smaller car; the Classic's front disc brakes, though, were a novelty among its medium-sized family saloon contemporaries. Mechanically the Capri was identical to the Classic, as was its bodyshell from the waist down apart from minor changes to the doors. The coupé roof lowered the centre of gravity and improving the handling, while inside there were better seats and trim. In July 1962 the 1.3-litre Classic and Capri were superseded by 1,498cc variants that brought with them more power, greater flexibility, a higher top speed and an all-synchromesh gearbox. Production of all types ceased in 1964 and today these rare modern Fords enjoy an enthusiastic following. The current vendor purchased this Capri at the Sharpe Collection sale in June 2005, since when it has been carefully stored but not used. With only 14,799 miles recorded, the car is extremely original (we believe the paint is the original finish). The car has recently been re-commissioned and is said to run well.Vendor Score Total: 95/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. This 1988 example is a 300SL which is powered by the smooth Mercedes 3.0-litre inline-six cylinder engine that's ideal for long distance cruising. Presented in white and with 158,000 miles from new, the car is in a presentable condition for its age and has recently had a respray to bring the car up to an acceptable standard. The convertible soft-top is in good condition, and there is also a hard-top included in the sale. 1982 Mercedes-Benz 500SL With HardtopRegistration no. NYY 22YChassis no. WDB10704622001902Odometer reading: 144,020MOT: TBC*1 owner from new *Mercedes service history*Restorative work and full respray in 2012*Meticulous history fileFootnotes:The R107 Mercedes SL is one of the most elegant and successful cars to ever be produced by Mercedes-Benz. In production between 1971 and 1989, the R107 generation of SL was built during a golden era of Mercedes build quality and high-class engineering. This is evident through the car's bulletproof powertrains which includes the torquey 5.0-litre V8 engine that powers this 1982 example. With only one owner from new, this 500SL has been very well-cared for throughout its life. This is displayed by the car's meticulous service history which includes bills and invoices totalling £52,000 being spent on maintenance over the last 39 years. Furthermore its original maintenance book, price list, and order sheet are also included. Recent work includes restorative work and a full respray being undertaken in 2012 (back to its original colours). The Sienna brown full leather interior is also still presenting very well, and options from new include full leather upholstery, ABS, rear seats, air conditioning, cruise control and heated seats. A hardtop is also included in the sale, and a new soft-top has also recently been fitted. Right-hand drive, like most quality French cars of the period, this matching-numbers 135M benefits from a body-off, 'last nut and bolt' restoration undertaken by its former owner - a wealthy German industrialist - some 15 years ago at a cost of £200,000. It is understood that the car had had only one previous owner. The Delahaye then formed part of the German owner's private collection for 10 years before arriving in the UK in 2017 when it was sold to an Englishman, who UK-registered the car and used it sparingly on 'high days and holidays'. Last year the car was fully serviced and fitted with a set of new tyres, while in April 2021 it was serviced again and MoT tested, the underside being videoed as its immaculate condition was admired. Said to drive beautifully, this magnificent French thoroughbred is finished in two-tone dark red/plum with fine coachlines separating the two colours, while the interior is upholstered in beige hide with dark red carpets. The fully lined hood is trimmed in beige West of England cloth. Photographs of the restoration, including the engine rebuild, are on file together with the MoT certificate; original handbook; and the UK V5C document recording only one owner in this country.Vendor Score Total: 80/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. N/AOdometer reading: TBCMOT: Exempt*Barn find Herald estate*Sold for restoration*Solid bodywork*Ownership since 1981Footnotes:Styled by Giovanni Michelotti, the Triumph Herald was a popular and much loved car of the 1960s. Produced in saloon, coupe, convertible and estate body styles, the Herald was incredibly versatile, cheap and stylish. This 1968 example is a later 13/60 model which was the final update for the Herald before production came to a close in 1971. Purchased by the vendor's late husband in 1981, this Herald estate is presented as a project car and offers excellent potential. The paintwork is tired, but the body is overall solid and the red leather interior has also held up remarkably well having been stored in a barn for much of its recent life. The car also comes equipped with some history including its original old style logbook. This is an increasingly rare and very collectable classic. This model, manufactured on 7th April 1978, has only completed only some 5 miles since its full and complete restoration, which was undertaken by the vendor to the highest of standards – down to the very last nut and bolt. The car has been in its current ownership since 2013, and we are informed that the bodywork, paintwork, interior, mechanicals and electrics are all in excellent better than new condition – with all the panels being original. 1935 Wolseley Hornet 1½-Litre TourerCoachwork by Eustace WatkinsRegistration no. GW 5426Chassis no. 274 51 Car no. 105274Odometer reading: TBCMOT: Exempt*Two owners from new*Professionally restored circa 20 years ago*Ready to be enjoyedFootnotes:Offered is a genuine Eustace Watkins-bodied Wolseley Hornet four-seat open tourer with the powerful 1½-litre six-cylinder engine. 'GW 5426' was first registered in January 1932 and has belonged to a professional motor mechanic for the last 21 years, prior to which it had had only one owner, a Mr Kalupka. It is believed that the Hornet served as the first owner's daily drive until it was laid up in 1962 and all but forgotten. Rescued from its collapsed garage, the Hornet was treated to a body-off, 'last-nut-and-bolt' restoration to a very high standard by its new owner, including a full engine rebuild and much more besides. Most notably, the original Eustace Watkins body was completely dismantled and all the ash woodwork checked and replaced as necessary. The rebuilt frame was then re-skinned in aluminium before being repainted and trimmed by local craftsmen. Now unable to drive the car anymore on account of his age, its restorer has decided to let the Hornet go. Presented in outstanding condition in every respect, having had little use, the car is ready to be enjoyed by its new owner. Eligible for VSCC events, the Hornet comes with full weather equipment (hood and four side screens) and is offered with all paperwork, a V5 Registration Certificate, and its original buff logbook listing only two owners.Vendor Score Total: 80/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. The present (second) owner purchased the car at Bonhams' sale at Rockingham Castle in June 2007 (Lot 321). In 2007 we said: 'Everything about this most unusual car is original, even down to the spare wheel, which is new and unused, as is the tool kit. 'YVM 9M' has been regularly serviced since its purchase; the most recent bill is for a service at 12,180 miles, only a few hundred miles ago. Probably as near to a new 1973 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow as it is possible to find, the car is accompanied by a full history file, including the original delivery note... it will be presented at the sale fresh from thorough detailing by Julian Smith.' Since the vendor's purchase, the Shadow has been kept and maintained by Storacar, while in June of this year it was serviced and MoT'd by Hillier Hill at a cost of more than £4,500. The owner has used the car for annual motoring holidays around the UK, covering some 10,000 miles during his 14-year ownership. 1977 Morgan +8 Sports Lightweight 19/19Chassis no. This partnership between Rover and Morgan was largely a result of Peter Wilkes (director of Rover) attempting to purchase Morgan off of Peter Morgan. He politely declined, however the meeting did result in an agreement for the supply of the then new Rover V8 to be fitted in the new Plus 8. This 1977 Plus 8 is a very special Sports Lightweight model that is presented in a beautiful Opalescent Silver with contrasting Gunmetal grey colour scheme. Originally owned by John McLaren (brother of Bruce McLaren), this example is number 19 of just 19 Lightweights built between 1976 and 1977. The Lightweight Plus 8s are incredibly rare, and they are known for their all-aluminium bodywork handcrafted from the factory. A resident of Guernsey, John McLaren imported the car to the island and it has never left since the day it arrived (this is justified by the low mileage of just 12,387 miles). John was also known to have the radiator cowl plated in chrome, and it is known to have had three owners in total. Overall the car is in good condition, and this is a rare and low mileage example of a Plus 8. SV 8056Chassis no. 569Odometer Reading: N/AMoT Expiry: Exempt*Unique LaFrance Speedster*9,500cc engine*Rebuilt in 1996Footnotes:Originally known as a manufacturer of fire engines and commercial vehicles, American LaFrance can trace its roots all the wat back to 1871. Upon its founding, the company originally focused on iron working, however the business then diverged and started building rotary steam engines. In 1903, the company then diverged even further and built approximately 25 chain drive cars with tube coil radiators mounted below the front of the frame. In 1909, the company then purchased and shipped Simplex chain-driven rolling chassis to their new factory in Elmira, New York, where new bodies were fitted and badged as a LaFrance. Presented here is a 1917 Simplex LaFrance Speedster that has been rebuilt in 1996. The standard of the build is high, and the car offers a truly unique open-top driving experience. Power comes from LaFrance's large four-cylinder 9½-litre engine that's paired to a 3-speed manual gearbox. The car also features 24' wooden wheels that are shod with Michelin tyres. The car also uses a modern electric starter motor. The Speedster's chassis was professionally shortened and narrowed resulting in an imposing and highly effective Edwardian special. The bodywork, interior, running gear and electrics all present well, and the car also comes with a good history file. The engine starts and runs very well. Originally available in two-wheel drive (and later four-wheel drive), the Mehari weighs just 535kg and is powered by a tiny 602cc flat-two petrol engine that is shared with the 2CV6, Dyane and Ami. A four-speed dog-leg gearbox adds to the fun nature of the vehicle and pairs well with the engine. The Mehari was mechanically very simple and it remained largely unchanged for most of its life. Minor changes included vinyl doors being fitted in 1970 (with an optional vinyl roof) and a slight stylistic update in 1978. This 1973 Mehari is a fully restored example which is presented in a beautiful Kirghiz orange colour scheme. With a restoration carried out in 2013 by The 2CV Shop in Warminster, the paintwork, bodywork and interior all present well and are in a very good condition. This model is also fitted with the optional vinyl roof which adds to its year round usability, rear seats, a tow bar and a fitted dust cover. CBY 467GChassis no. 3576509Odometer reading: 1,283MOT: Exempt*Cavernous practical classic*Runs on either petrol or LPG*Present ownership since 2014Footnotes:Citroën first introduced an estate car or station wagon version of its revolutionary DS and ID in 1958. Built on a longer wheelbase than the saloon, it was known by different names depending on the destination market: Break in France; Safari and Estate in the UK; and Wagon in the USA. Familiales had a third row of seats, while the standard Break had two side-facing seats in the main load area at the rear. This cavernous Citroën ID21 Safari Estate was extensively restored and upgraded by a former owner - a Hungarian DS specialist - before its acquisition by the immediately preceding owner circa 2010. A left-hand drive model, '3576509' is understood to have had its 2,175cc engine converted to run on either petrol or LPG, and its semi-automatic gearbox modified to give five forward speeds. In June 2010 the car was treated to a new nearside rear wheel bearing; tow bar; front brake pads; inner driveshaft gaiters; refurbished wheels; and five new tyres by marque specialist Dave Ashworth of Blackpool. The current vendor purchased the Safari at a UK auction in June 2014, since when it has been re-sprayed in Chapron Blue over grey and a new cylinder head gasket fitted by Woodlinkin Citroën Centre of Nottinghamshire. DE 4026 (Netherlands)Chassis no. 149564Odometer reading: N/AMOT: Exempt*Formerly part of a European private collection*Successfully completed this year's Longstone Light Car Race*Registered in the NetherlandsTo view a video of this lot please click hereFormerly producers of tools, coffee mills, umbrella spikes and corsetry, Peugeot commenced its long-standing connection with transport in 1885 when it added cycle manufacture to its portfolio. The company is the second oldest motor manufacturer in the world, having commenced car production in 1889. New for 1928, the Peugeot 190 was a direct descendent of the Quadrilette, one of the most successful examples of the 'big car in miniature'. The 190 was powered by an 719cc sidevalve engine with detachable cylinder head, which was coupled to a three-speed, worm-drive rear transaxle. Side-by-side seating replaced the Quadrilette's tandem arrangement, and now there were front-wheel brakes. An older (year 2000) restoration, this charming Vintage-era 190S Torpedo was purchased from a European private collection by the enthusiast vendor in March of this year to take part in the Longstone Light Car Race at Oulton Park. The little Peugeot finished well, running for 80 minutes and averaging 34mph! It has been used for pub trips since. Of high quality manufacture, the car features an ash body frame and aluminium body panels, and is said to have positive steering and good brakes. Other notable features include a good hood and side screens; an electric starter; and a recently renewed high-output sealed 6V battery (cost £150). UK taxes were paid in May 2021 and the car comes with Netherlands registration papers.Footnotes:Vendor Score Total: 73/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1934 Hotchkiss 413 Cabourg SaloonRegistration no. HVS 546Chassis no. 39785Odometer reading: 67,473MOT: Exempt*Sold new in France*Right-hand drive*Considerable recent expensitureTo view a video of this lot please click hereFootnotes:A slump in demand for the products of its Saint-Denis munitions factory prompted Hotchkiss to diversify into motor manufacture in the early 1900s. The company was already a major supplier of components to the automobile industry, and right from the start the famous 'Hotchkiss Drive' (by live axle and open propeller shaft) was a feature of its cars. Its designation denoting four cylinders and 13CV, the 2.3-litre Hotchkiss 413 was introduced in 1933. This example was purchased new in 1934 by a Mr Fontane, who lived in a smart district of Paris (his nameplate is on the dashboard). Post-war the Hotchkiss was housed in a French museum before coming to the UK in 1991. The engine was then rebuilt and the car took its owner's family to Monte Carlo twice. Subsequently the Hotchkiss was owned by Branislav Sujick, who did very little with it. Described as a 'restoration project', the car was purchased at a UK auction in October 2011 by VSCC member Clive Hamilton-Gould, who rebuilt the engine including a re-bore and high-compression pistons. The current vendor purchased the Hotchkiss in 2018, since when the carburettor has been rebuilt; a new clutch fitted; the front suspension rebuilt with new bearings, kingpins, and bushes: new Hartford shock absorbers fitted to the front axle; and five new tyres fitted (in June 2021). A rare Hotchkiss 413, running well and in very original condition.Vendor Score Total: 73/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH. 1953 Jaguar XK120 SE RoadsterRegistration no. 211 UYHChassis no. S674330Engine no. F1133-8Odometer reading: 61,266MOT: Exempt*Delivered new to Los Angeles, California*Left-hand drive*Single owner from 1959 to 2014*Restored in the UKFootnotes:According to its accompanying Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, his left-hand drive Jaguar XK120 SE was built in November 1953 and shipped to Jaguar's United States West Coast distributor Charles Hornburg in Los Angeles. The car's original colour scheme was British Racing Green with tan interior and gunmetal sort-top. The original owner's name is not recorded but it is understood that he was a racing driver who repainted the XK red and kept the car until 1959, by which time it had covered some 17,000 miles. The car was then sold to Mr Joe Rogers of Walnut Creek, California, who would cherish his beloved XK for the next 55 years, keeping it out of wet weather and preserving its originality.Sold because of Mr Rogers' advancing years, the Jaguar was brought back to the UK in 2015, sold at auction and subsequently fully restored by its new owner, including a re-spray in the original British Racing Green livery. Additionally, the engine was rebuilt; the electrics rewired; the suspension overhauled; new wire wheels fitted; a stainless exhaust installed; and a Guy Broad five-speed gearbox fitted. (The original four-speed Moss gearbox is included in the sale.) Dating back to 2015, the history file contains a State of California Certificate of Title; a V5C registration document; invoices and photographs of the restoration; and the aforementioned Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.Vendor Score Total: 73/100Bidders should note that the automated 100-point Seller's Assessment is provided by each Seller at the point of consignment using the guidelines below, and is not provided, assessed or verified by Bonhams MPH.
