Introduced early in 1971, this impressive two-seater sports car replaced the 280 SL. The body and chassis of the third generation SL was considerably heavier and longer than its predecessor, but still showed a slight resemblance to them. The front and rear axles were similar to those of the 200-250 models, with independent wheel suspension using double wishbones and anti-drive control at the front and a diagonal swing axle at the rear. A four-speed automatic transmission was available as an option. The 3.5 litre V8 engine underwent slight modifications to those being used on other models and the gear lever was placed on the floor in the centre of the car. The standard transmission provided a top speed of 130mph and a very respectable 0-62mph in 8.8 seconds. As with the previous generation SL's, the vehicle came as an open roadster with removable hard top roof. The R107 body shape went on to become one of the longest running styles from Mercedes-Benz, remaining in production until 1989 with some 13 variants during that time. Even by today's standards for sports cars the 350 SL's spacious cockpit looks excellent with great ergonomics.First registered on 20th November 1973, this handsome and rare 350SL has been well cared for throughout its life. Believed to be one of only eight right-hand drive cars supplied to the UK, the car comes with a lovely history file showing many past MoT test certificates as well as many receipts for the car’s maintenance. Most impressive in the history file is the Mercedes-Benz maintenance book which boasts 13 service stamps, tracking the vehicle’s mileage throughout. The car presents beautifully with the resprayed blue coachwork gleaming in the sun and the tan interior complimenting the blue perfectly. Supplied with its factory hardtop, the vendor reports the car to run and drive very well, with the 3.5. litre V8 pulling smoothly.Supplied with a UK V5C registration document, full book pack including stamped maintenance book, old MoT test certificates and a file of receipts. The Ford Capri is a fastback coupé that was manufactured from 1969 to 1986, designed by American Philip Clark, one of the main designers of the Mustang. Using the mechanical components from the Mk. II Cortina and intended as the European equivalent of the Ford Mustang, the Capri went on to be a highly successful car for Ford selling nearly 1.9 million units in its lifetime. A wide variety of engines were used in the Capri throughout its production life span. Originally registered on the 5th July 1976 this stylish Ford Capri features the desirable 3 litre engine which is mated to an automatic gearbox. This rare ‘top of the range’ example presents well in metallic green paint which is complemented by a black everflex roof and a contrasting beige cloth interior. In 1963, Mercedes-Benz launched the W113 range of sports cars designed by Paul Bracq. This began with the 230 SL and featured a beautifully proportioned light sports body (Sport-Leicht) with two comfortable seats designed for touring. Power came from a well-balanced in-line, six-cylinder engine with multi-port, fuel injection and formed the basis of an entire range of W-series motor cars. All were rear-wheel drive and equipped with independent rear suspension; a feature which greatly improved road handling over the earlier models. On offer today is a left hand drive, automatic example that sports handsome blue coachwork over a tan interior; both in good order. This was originally exported to the USA and registered on 1st January 1967. It was later imported to the UK and registered in June 2004. Since that date, European headlights have been fitted as well as a new steering wheel to the correct pattern. Both the current owner and previous one have stored the car in a secure, humidity-controlled environment where it has been regularly started to keep everything well oiled. We are also informed from the vendor that only a few hundred miles have been added to the car since his acquisition in 2013, a gift to his wife to commemorate the birth of his first son. We are assured that this SL Roadster will have a fresh MoT test certificate by the time of the sale and, indeed, it has also recently undergone a full service with respected Mercedes-Benz restorers, Roger Edwards Motors. This included full tuning, fuel injection pump overhaul, brakes and all engine & gearbox mounts replaced. Also, new track rod ends (both sides), new belts, a whole new fuel tank and expansion tank as well as new throttle rods and, to finish off this meticulous diagnosis and repair, a fresh set of number plates all costing a grand total of £15,818.99. These attractive ‘SL’ sports cars were highly regarded when new and little has changed over the intervening years. With the ever-increasing prices being asked for these motorcars in mind, this would appear to be an ideal opportunity to acquire a reasonably priced example with a full complement of owner’s manuals and books. The Plus 4 is a larger and more powerful version of the Morgan Motor Company's 4/4 model and was made between 1950 and 1969, 1985 to 2000 and was again revived in 2005. The Range Rover's origins can be seen as far back as the early 1950s when Maurice Wilks, Land Rover's principal design engineer, mooted the idea of a 'Road Rover'. Initially conceived as a bigger and better Land Rover, it never progressed beyond the stage of test models and the project was cancelled in 1958. The idea of a luxury Land Rover was taken up again in the mid 1960s by Spencer King and Gordon Bashford, chief engineer and chief designer respectively of New Vehicle Projects, who set out to combine the practicality and cross-country ability of Land Rover engineering with the performance and comfort of Rover saloons. The Range Rover was successfully launched in June 1970. At that time, management felt confident in describing its versatility as 'four cars in one - a luxury car, a performance car, an estate car and a cross-country car'. It is a matter of history that Range Rover was received with tremendous enthusiasm and has subsequently fulfilled all these and many other roles with great success. Features such as power assisted steering, carpeted floors, air conditioning, cloth or leather seats and wooden interior trim were fitted later. It was a body-on-frame design with a box section ladder type chassis similar to contemporary Land Rovers. It utilised coil springs as opposed to leaf springs, permanent four-wheel drive and four-wheel disc brakes and was originally powered by the Rover V8 engine.Originally registered on 6th November 1987 this classic shape Range Rover presents very well in Alaskan Blue with grey velour interior. The paintwork is in good order as is the interior. The 3.5 Litre V8 engine is a very well tried and trusted unit, this example runs well and the automatic gearbox operates as it should. The original service books are present, clearly this Range Rover having been owned by the same vendor since 1991, has been very well cared for. With the higher-up driving position, ample legroom and more than adequate storage space, it is easy to see why Range Rovers are so popular. The 1998 XKR was introduced with a supercharged version of the engine. Both the XK8 and XKR are electronically limited to a maximum of 155mph, the top speed of its predecessor, the XJS V12, being 158mph. Self-levelling xenon headlamps came as standard with the XKR with Jaguar's adaptive cruise control as an optional feature available on both models. Both come with all leather interior, burr walnut trim and side airbags. This example boasting Sat Nav, heated memory front seats with electric steering adjust, cruise control, six-CD changer, front and rear factory fitted splash guards, auto lights, wipers and Brembo brakes. This lovely well-kept example of the desirable late 4.2 litre Jaguar XKR is presented in Zircon Blue Metallic with black leather trim and walnut wood veneer and wood and leather steering wheel for that ‘Blenheim Palace feel’. Upon inspecting the car, the paintwork and trim appear in very good order, the vendor confirmed everything at the time of consignment is working as it should with no issues or faults, indeed he has just serviced the car and provided a new MoT until August 2025 for the new owner. This example benefits from recent premium brand tyres all round, new headlining and, with just 49,569 miles on the odometer. It is believed the previous owner used and took the car abroad in the summers of his ownership. Much of the history has been misplaced but one look at the car provides you with much confidence, upon a workshop inspection no rust rot or welding have taken place and we are informed an ‘all clear’ of rust in the usual XK problem places was declared. We are also informed it runs and drives ‘spot on’ with no warning lights on dashboard, any inspection is thoroughly recommended to appreciate how good this Supercharged coupé is …oh and it will reach 60 mph in under five seconds and push on to over 150 mph! The Ford Racing Puma was introduced in 1997, as a high-performance version of the popular Puma coupé, designed by Ford's Special Vehicle Engineering team. This compact sports car is renowned for its agile handling, spirited performance, and striking design elements, making it an instant classic among enthusiasts. Powered by a 1.7-litre inline-four engine, the Racing Puma delivers around 153bhp, boasting a sporty 0-60 mph time of approximately 7.2 seconds. The car features a lightweight chassis, sport-tuned suspension, and distinct styling cues that set it apart from its standard counterpart, including a unique wide bodykit. Here we have an absolutely stunning example of the Ford Racing Puma, with a remarkable provenance that sets it apart from the rest. This particular vehicle was initially owned by a Ford director for its first two years, then in April 2002, the car transitioned to a Mr Kissionerghis in Colchester, who would keep the car for 14 years during in which the covered less than 20,000 miles, with 14 service stamps to show for it during his tenure. Following this meticulous care, which included storing the car dry since 2013, it was sold in 2016 to a dedicated Ford collector after receiving a comprehensive service, including a cambelt and water pump replacement. The current owner acquired the vehicle in 2019 at 36,228 miles, and it has since only accrued an additional 186 miles, remaining in excellent condition as part of an impressive and varied collection, always pampered and stored in a bubble. We are advised the car will be presented for a fresh MoT and an oil service prior to the auction, ensuring it's ready to be enjoyed right away. The Fiat X1/9 is a mid-engined two-seater, designed by Bertone and manufactured by Fiat from 1972-1982. Bertone subsequently took the lead from 1982-1989 and, in 1982, shortly after the introduction of the 1500 model, complete production was assumed by Bertone with models from this point forward badged as the Bertone X1/9. With a transverse engine and gearbox in a mid-mounted, rear-wheel drive configuration, the X1/9 was noted for its excellent handling and lightweight, removable hardtop. It succeeded a 1969 show concept car called the Autobianchi Runabout (with styling by Bertone under chief designer Marcello Gandini) and, unlike Fiat's marketing nomenclature at the time; the X1/9 retained its prototype code as its marketing name. This example is one of the very last X1/9’s to have been built and is a superb example. The car has covered just 53,000 miles from new, supported by a service book containing stamps going back as far as 1989. The car presents beautifully in Mica Red and has been the subject of much work over the years. In May 2023, the engine was removed and sent to Avanti Rizzuti Motorsport, who rebuilt the head and cam, using a stage 1 forged cam, the cambelt and water pump were also replaced at the time. New clutch and brake master cylinders were fitted in 2022 and there are bills for metal work and paintwork in 2013. The history file is extensive and we would highly recommend any interested parties to come and take a look through the bills for works carried out over the years. Fiat X1/9’s are an exceedingly rare sight on the roads nowadays as many fell victim to rust over the years, so an example like this which has clearly been cared for throughout its whole life is a very special thing. This example is supplied to auction with a V5C registration certificate, an MoT test certificate valid until August 2025 and a comprehensive history file with many invoices, service records, owner’s club booklets and old MoT’s. The Vespa has evolved from a single model motor scooter manufactured in 1946 by Piaggio & Co. of Pontedera, Italy. Designed by Renzo Spolti and Vittorio Casini and known as the MP5 (Moto Piaggio no.5). Upon seeing this new design for the first time, Enrico Piaggio exclaimed ‘Sembra una Vespa!’ (It resembles a wasp). This 1975 150 Sport was purchased by our vendor in 2011 before he restored the Vespa and then registered the bike for UK roads in 2012 with a UK V5. The British Lambretta archive confirm that this was an Italian manufactured Vespa with the frame number VLB1T 0238897 and the engine confirmed as being changed in 1977. Presented wonderfully in red coachwork our vendor uses the bike regularly, sitting on the larger wheels makes this a more usable scooter for modern roads. The Land Rover Defender was launched in 1948 and, incredibly, production only finished in January 2016 after a continuous run of 67 years. Outwardly, there is little to distinguish the post-1983 vehicles from the Series III Land Rover. A full-length bonnet, revised grille, plus the fitting of wheel arch extensions to cover wider-track axles are the most noticeable changes. Internally, coil springs offered a more comfortable ride and a permanent four-wheel drive system derived from the Range Rover featuring a two-speed transfer gearbox with a lockable centre differential. A modernised interior and a new series of progressively more powerful and modern engine characterised things under the skin. In August 2011, Land Rover announced an update of the Defender for the 2012 model year. By this time, Land Rover publicly acknowledged that it was working on a project to produce an all-new replacement for the Defender. Then in line for the 2012 models was the installation of a different engine Ford decided, due to cost reasons, not to modify the engine introduced in 2007 and so the engine was replaced with the ZSD-422 engine, essentially a 2.2 litre variant of the same engine.Registered new on 28th February 2017 this Land Rover Defender is presented in its original specification, offered in Metallic green coachwork over a black interior the paintwork retains a deep shine and is virtually unmarked, as is the cabin and underside. The Defender looks superb having covered a mere 394 miles from new. Very few of these models were built, and this must be one of the lowest mileage examples in existence. An opportunity not to be missed. Consigned by Daniel Godin DELIVERY MILEAGEEXCELLENT CONDITION THROUGHOUTRARE EXAMPLE
Following the demise of the Austin-Healey 3000, Kjell Qvale, the largest Austin Healey dealer in the US, was keen to find a replacement sports car to market in America. As a major shareholder in Jensen Motors, who had built the bodies of the Austin-Healeys, Qvale was instrumental in opening discussions with Donald Healey regarding collaboration with Jensen Motors, for his next project. Healey was appointed Chairman of Jensen Motors in 1970 and work started on the design of what was to be the last car to bear the famous Healey name. The Jensen-Healey was designed as a joint venture by Donald Healey, his son Geoffrey, and Jensen Motors. It was the hope that Healey would contribute the sense of style that made the Austin-Healey so successful. Colin Chapman of Lotus offered to help and Jensen accepted his company’s new 1973 cc Lotus 907 engine, a two litre, DOHC, 16 valve all-alloy powerplant. This multi-valve engine was the first to be mass produced on an assembly line and produced a power output of approximately 144bhp, sufficient for a top speed of 119 mph and acceleration from 0-60mph in 8.1 seconds. Disc brakes were fitted at the front while drums sufficed for the rear. Finished in white with a black interior this attractive Jensen Healey has had significant recent expenditure totalling nearly £5000 which included new battery, electronic ignition and high torque starter motor. These rare cars offer an interesting alternative to the more common British sports cars and with the Lotus twin cam engine will show a clean pair of heels to most of them! The 1955 Buick Century Riviera was a standout model in Buick's mid-century line-up, representing the brand’s push toward power and style during the golden age of American automobiles. Known for its distinctive combination of elegance and performance, the Century Riviera was marketed as a premium vehicle with a sporty edge. Under the bonnet, the 1955 Century featured a 322 cubic inch ‘nailhead’ V8 engine, delivering a powerful 236 bhp. This performance allowed the Century to achieve impressive speeds for the era. The car's performance was matched with Buick’s signature Dynaflow automatic transmission, offering a smooth driving experience. The Riviera designation indicated the top-tier hardtop coupé model, featuring a sleek, pillarless design that gave it a modern, airy feel. The chrome accents, ‘VentiPorts’ on the wings, and two-tone paint options added to its visual appeal. Inside, the Century Riviera boasted luxury appointments like plush seating, stylish trim, and advanced features for the time, such as a push-button radio. Overall, the 1955 Buick Century Riviera combined luxury, style, and speed, making it an iconic vehicle that remains admired by classic car enthusiasts today for its blend of performance and mid-century flair. This super stylish Buick epitomises American cars of the era. Big, lots of chrome and a hefty 5.3 litre V8 under the bonnet. This example has been very well cared for by the vendor. During his stewardship the carburettor has been replaced (Edelbrook 4BBL) and the gearbox was rebuilt by Tornado Automotive in July 2021. A service has been carried out and electric wiper motor fitted, the original vacuum one comes with the car. The chassis has been undersealed and the doors have been cavity waxed, the wheel arches have also been protected by stone guard. The result of this investment is a Buick Riviera that presents very well and can be enjoyed immediately. The engine starts on the button and runs with good oil pressure. All the gauges work correctly and the after-market air conditioning is in great working order. The two-tone Dover White and Cherokee Red paintwork is in good order as is the interior. The chromework, of which there is plenty, is in very good condition. This is a delightful two-door pillarless coupé which is guaranteed to attract admiring glances. Consigned by Stewart Banks. The BMW M3 is one of the most iconic sports cars of all time. The vehicle first entered production in 1986 and quickly became known for its high performance and excellent driving dynamics. The E46 generation of M3s was produced from 2000 to 2006 and was the third generation of the M3. The E46 generation was powered by the legendary S54 3.2 litre inline six-cylinder engine, which produced 343bhp and could boast a redline of 8000rpm. This power was sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission, or the optional SMG semi automatic. The E46 M3 was also equipped with several performance features, including a limited-slip differential, larger brakes and improved suspension. The E46 M3 was praised for its handling and power, and it is still considered to be one of the best M3s ever made.Beautifully presented in rare and very desirable Laguna Seca Blue, with matching blue trim, this stunning manual example of the E46 M3 is owned and cherished by our BMW enthusiast owner and has been for the past five years. He purchased it from the third owner before him, who had owned for nine years. Registered 31st March 2003, it was specified from new with and electric glass sunroof, front centre arm-rest, Laguna Seca Blue Nappa Leather and the Laguna Seca Blue solid non-metallic paint. This took the price to £40,100 when new. Supplied with a service history and an MoT until December, the car has recently been treated to a new differential, boot floor reinforcement, new rear Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres and 6mm Michelin sports to the front, new rear drive shafts and a replacement prop shaft. Charles Terrot and Wilhelm Stücklen founded a machinery factory in Germany in 1862, Terrot added a factory in Dijon in 1887 and in 1902 the Dijon factory made its first motorcycle powered by a 2 bhp engine supplied by Zédel of Switzerland. Terrot produced its first twin-cylinder model in 1905. From 1915 onwards, it supplied 500cc machines to the French Army. In 1921, Terrot launched new two-stroke models, the 175cc model L and the 267cc model E. In 1925, the latter model was developed into the 250cc model F. From 1923 onwards, Terrot also produced four-stroke models. In 1998 the Bentley Arnage was launched, replacing the legendary Bentley Turbo. Built by Bentley Motors in Crewe from 1998 to 2009, the Arnage and its Rolls-Royce counterpart the Silver Seraph were introduced in the Spring of 1998 and were the first entirely new designs for the two marques since 1980 when the Silver Spirit and Mulsanne models were introduced. The new Arnage was to be powered by a BMW V8 engine with Cosworth-engineered twin-turbo chargers and was designated in the 'Arnage Green Label' and the Seraph was to employ a BMW V12 engine. Due to customer pressure regarding the engine, the far superior 'Arnage Red Label' was launched in October 1999 and the engine reverted back to the iconic Rolls-Royce derived 6.8-litre V8 power plant.Originally registered on 1st May 2004 this stunning Red Label Mulliner specification Arnage was one of just 25 right hand drive models made in 2004. The Jaguar Mk. X was the top of the range saloon built by the British manufacturer primarily aimed at the US market. The unitary construction body-shell was codenamed ‘Zenith’ during development and this floor pan continued in production long after production ended. The interior was the last Jaguar with abundant standard woodwork, including the dashboard, escutcheons, window trim, a pair of large book-matched fold-out rear picnic tables and a front seat pull-out picnic table stowed beneath the instrument cluster. It was also the first Jaguar saloon to feature independent rear suspension and differed from earlier large Jaguar saloons in having 14" wheels instead of the more common 15". The car initially featured a 3,781cc version of Jaguar's XK in-line, six-cylinder engine. For the London Motor Show in October 1964, the enlarged 4,235cc unit took over although the 3.8 litre unit could still be specified until October 1965. Stopping power for this heavy car came from servo assisted disc-brakes on all four wheels; power assisted steering was standard. This Mk. X Jaguar is fitted with the very rare and desirable manual overdrive gearbox. It was first registered on 6th September 1963 with the registration AFW 131A. Presented in a distinguished colour combination of metallic bronze with a complementary tan leather interior showing a wonderful patina, Webasto sunroof, electric windows all round and steel wheels. Early in its life the car was re-registered as 6670 VR and, although not much history is available from that time, it is known that the car was originally owned in Dorset before being displayed as an exhibit at the Skopos Motor Museum (now known as the Yorkshire Motor Museum) who indicate a total mileage of just 31,716 in August of 2000.Early in 2002, the car stayed a short time in the ownership of a collector before being purchased in 2003 from the collector’s widow by the father of our vendor. The car was taken to his estate in Ireland and was registered 63-D-810, where it resided as part of his private collection until 2018 when his son (our vendor) returned the car to the UK under its original registration. This example is in very good order throughout, testament to the care received throughout its ownership, and presents as an original unrestored car boasting copious history from both its time in Ireland and since its return to the UK.These Jaguars enjoy a well-respected place in automotive history and with its commanding presence and glorious 3.8 litre Jaguar engine, it is not hard to see why. The Lotus Europa Twincam was introduced in 1971, and was renowned for its innovative design and lightweight construction. The Europa featured a fiberglass body mounted on a sturdy steel chassis, ensuring agility and performance. The Twincam variant is powered by a 1.6-litre Lotus-Ford twin-cam engine, producing around 126bhp, enabling it to deliver exhilarating acceleration and nimble handling that Lotus is famous for. With its distinctive wedge shape and low profile, the Europa’s design was both avant-garde and aerodynamic, capturing attention on and off the track. The interior, though minimalist, offered a driver-focused experience with supportive seating and clear instrumentation. The Europa Twincam excelled in motorsport, showcasing Lotus’s engineering prowess. This example presents in excellent condition, the red paintwork gleams and the black interior is very sharp too. Areas to improve cosmetically would be some of the exterior brightwork and the interior wooden dashboard, but the overall appearance of the car is very fair and it can certainly continue to be used and enjoyed as it is. The car underwent a large amount of restoration work in the early 1990’s, with various bills totalling a few thousand pounds for an extensive engine rebuild and various other works between 1991-1992, with the car having covered only circa 8,000 miles since then. Our vendor has enjoyed the car but has decided it isn’t getting as much use as it deserves, so has made the decision to let it go to its next custodian. Introduced at the 1988 Birmingham Motor Show, the Virage was Aston Martin’s replacement for the decades old V8 models. The Virage was launched as the top of the range car for Aston Martin. It is easy to see why this handbuilt, all aluminium V8 was king of the Astons. The 32 valve, 5.3 litre engine elevated the performance of the Virage to near sports car level. It was stated by Sports Car International on an early test that 'acceleration just never seems to run out' and they also praised 'the eager and quicker revving' nature of the engine, with its Callaway designed heads and Weber-Marelli fuel injection. They concluded that 'nothing sounds quite like an Aston V8'.This handsome Aston Martin Virage presents very well in British Racing Green over a cream leather interior and we are informed has benefitted from much renovation works over the years and has been recently recommissioned and serviced. In its previous tenure we are informed the car has been treated to an extensive engine rebuild and a front end rebuild including suspension components. Upgraded 18” alloy wheels have also been fitted and are shod with good tyres all round. We are informed in 2023 the car was fitted a new steering rack, new fuel injectors and primary fuel pump. The Alpine A110, introduced in 1961, is a revered icon in the world of motorsport and automotive design. Born from the creative vision of Jean Rédélé, the A110 was crafted for both road and rally racing, quickly establishing a reputation for its agility and lightweight construction. Weighing around 700 kg, the A110 featured a fibreglass body and a mid-engine layout, which contributed to its exceptional handling and balance. Powered by a range of four-cylinder engines, the A110 showcased impressive performance, especially in its rally variants, achieving numerous victories in events like the Monte Carlo Rally during the 1970s. Its distinctive styling, characterized by round headlights and a curvaceous silhouette, has made it a timeless classic. The A110's blend of performance, innovation, and elegance has endeared it to enthusiasts worldwide, solidifying its status as a pioneering machine that embodies the spirit of motorsport and the allure of French automotive excellence. The car we have here is a Dieppe built A110 and is presented in absolutely exceptional condition. It is powered by a highly desirable and freshly rebuilt Salv Sacco 1255cc Gordini unit, breathing through Italian Weber 40DCOEs and mated to a five-speed gearbox. This, combined with its circa 700kg mass, gives spectacular performance delivered with a fizz and vigour you cannot get with a modern sports car. Our vendor purchased this car fresh from a very in-depth restoration, then set about making it as ‘turn-key’ as he could and the car is now ready to be enjoyed as intended. The car has been fitted with many choice period modifications and rare components, to enhance the car: an alloy front mounted radiator with electric fan, Cibie super Oscars, a Pierre Ferry high volume sump, Momo Indy wheel, rear roll bar…the list goes on. It’s now been subject to a comprehensive 500 mile shakedown and development and is ready to go for the next custodian. This Alpine was first registered in the UK in August 1997, with its final MOT being carried out in 1999, it would then lay dormant in a barn for over 20 years, before being discovered by the previous owner, who also owned an ex works A110 and he decided to completely restore the car. Various old Certificat d'Assurance are included in the history file, showing that the car was wearing the registration 6114 TJ 95 whilst in France. The car is very hard to fault, viewing would be highly recommended to fully appreciate its condition. The penultimate T-Series Midget, the TD, appeared in 1949. A continuation of the 1930s designed TC, The TD heralded some well-received post-war refinements; independent front suspension, rack and pinion steering, steel wheels, and the availability of left hand drive, made the TD an appealing motorcar for the export market. When production of the TD finished in 1953 it's reported that all but around 1,650 of the 30,000 cars produced were exported, with 23,000 or so heading to the USA alone, this very car amongst them. This example is finished in red (original colour was black) with a matching interior and hood. Whilst it is certainly true that there are a number of similarities that follow through from the previous model, the Stuttgart firm have always been very keen to point out that at least 85% of the car, in fact, differed. From the obvious change to the bumpers through to the increased displacement of car’s motive power. ABS brakes now became standard and careful attention has been paid to the aerodynamics used to reduce the drag coefficient down to virtually zero. The stability and road holding at high speed were also greatly improved with a new retractable spoiler automatically extending at 50mph seriously increasing downforce and doubling the volume of air fed into the engine compartment.Registered new on 21st May 1990 this example is the desirable right hand drive, manual, convertible derivative. The Porsche has been treated and cared for throughout its life and has recently had extensive works to the convertible roof including a new gearbox and sensors, motor repairs and a refurbished control unit as well as a comprehensive service approximately 950 miles ago with GT One Ltd, Porsche specialists based in Surrey, a year before that. In fact, works have taken place reliably with this firm stretching back to 2016 which includes regular servicing, air conditioning and general maintenance. The lack of usage undertaken between 2019 and 2023 relates to the Covid epidemic during which time, the owner stayed in Ireland. After which, it was thus refreshed and used again. Two fresh Pirelli P Zero tyres were fitted in 2017 but with only circa 2,600 miles driven between then and now, their use can only really be described as occasional. Works continue going back with GT One and then back to Porsche main dealers including substantial servicing in 2014. In fact, 2014 represents an important date as it was then that the Porsche Service Centre in Byfleet undertook a full and comprehensive engine rebuild costing just shy of £20,000 and detailing nine pages of labour and spare parts. Work also included a new clutch kit, two suspension wishbones and new front brake discs and pads were also fitted at this time. In 2023 it was treated to an extensive 6,000 mile service costing over £4,000 including rectification of some general minor issues. The last Bentley to be built on a separate chassis, 1962 saw the introduction of the Bentley S3 factory bodied, standard steel saloon and, at first glance, it would appear that the all new S3 was merely an S2 with different headlamps. The introduction of the twin headlamps was clearly the most obvious change, but the differences did not end there. Further changes included the introduction of smaller bumper overriders and the repositioning of the front indicators and side lamps into one single unit on the front wing, resulting in a more attractive appearance. The S3's interior now had individual front seats in place of the split bench seat found in the earlier S-Types and some, like this one, had electric windows and front seat belts. Mechanically speaking the S3 was the same as the S2 with a 6230cc, Rolls-Royce V8 engine and automatic gearbox but this model was fitted with larger carburettors, improved power steering to aid smoother movement at parking speed and a Lucas vacuum-advance distributor to aid fuel consumption, making it almost identical in mechanical specification to the S3 Continental that was being produced at the same time. This lovely Bentley S3 was supplied by H.R. Owen Ltd, London to its first owner D. Barnes Esq of Southgate, London on 20th May 1965. The car was supplied painted in shell grey with black Connolly leather and with electric windows and Marchel combined parking and indicator lights to each door pillar. The second owner acquired this car in 1981 and then kept a comprehensive file. Around the same time the colour of the roof and boot was change to dark green and in his ownership did less than 10,000 miles. The current owner purchased the Bentley about two years ago from his daughter and set about bringing it back to the excellent condition presented here. This included a bare metal re-paint in dark green over shell grey, remove all the interior, repair as necessary, clean and connolized, remove the woodwork and have re-lacquered, carry out a full service to the engine, replace the water pump, thermostat and all the necessary hoses. It has also had a new rear screen, battery and electronic ignition fitted. Send the radiator for specialist repairs the flush out and replace the anti-freeze and overhaul the brakes. This lovely Bentley S3 is believed to have covered a low mileage and from the large history file starting in 1981 and the MoT history it has been used very sparingly. It is supplied with a V5 registration document which is still in the second owners name, copies of the chassis cards supplied by the RREC and the original handbooks. The MG RV8 was a hugely important step in the 1990's rebirth of MG Cars after more than a decade of only producing saloons and hatchbacks. Since Abingdon's closure in 1980, MG had been reserved for the Metro, Maestro and Montego and, although these cars were worthy, what enthusiasts really wanted was a new MG roadster. In creating the RV8, Rover very cleverly used a combination of off-the-shelf parts, such as Range Rover's V8 engine and British Motor Heritage's MGB bodyshell. So, in this re-incarnation of the MGB, the rubber bumper specification body was taken and modified to accept a new set of beautifully curvaceous outer panels. The 3.9-litre Range Rover EFi V8 engine developed 185bhp and gave the RV8 enough power to crack six seconds for the 0-60mph run. A five-speed LT77 gearbox, derived from the Rover SD1 was used along with a new Salisbury axle. Very significant modifications were made to the suspension and brakes to bring the car up to date. The interior featured leather and burr elm facia and door cappings. Japan proved to be a successful market during the recession of the 1990's and, of the 1,983 units MG RV8's manufactured, 1,581 were sold out there, although many have subsequently come back home to the UK.This is one such car; returning from Japan in 2004. The mileage on its arrival to the UK is unknown, but the first online MoT record from 2006 shows it had covered only 1,768 miles and when our vendor purchased the car in 2009, it had covered just 4,500. Our vendor has thoroughly enjoyed the car during his ownership, taking it to local car shows and says it holds many happy memories for him and his wife, but it is now seeing less frequent use and he feels it is time for someone else to enjoy his MG. The car is in excellent condition, the Woodcote green coachwork gleams and the tan interior shows little sign of ageing. A service booklet was started in 2009 and shows seven services since then, the most recent being in 2022, just 2,000 miles ago. Recent works include a new radiator and new exhaust. In 1992, 12 years after the last MG sports car had rolled off the Abingdon production lines, Austin-Rover made the inspired decision to revive this most charismatic of British marques by introducing an entirely new model - the MG RV8. The success of the Heritage MGB replacement bodyshell had demonstrated the continuing popularity of that car, so the decision was taken to base the new model on MG's most successful sports car, suitably re-engineered for the 1990s. The MG RV8 was announced at the 1992 Motor Show, its launch being timed to coincide with the MGB's 30th anniversary. Although recognisably related to its distinguished forebear, the RV8 was wider, lower and sleeker, featuring fully integrated body-coloured bumpers in the modern idiom. Beneath the power-bulged bonnet there was the latest 3.9-litre version of the Rover V8 engine, a modern derivative of that used to power the MGB V8 back in the 1970s, mated to a Rover LT77 five-speed manual gearbox. With a maximum power output of 188bhp capable of a top speed of 135mph, the RV8 was the most powerful MG ever at the time of its launch. The UK price on introduction was £26,500. Only 1,983 MG RV8s were built in total, around 75% of which were exported to Japan with the remainder sold new in the UK. There was no left-hand drive version. This lovely MG RV8 was supplied new in the UK in February 1995 by Castle Garage, Ludlow, Shropshire. Purchased by the current owner in 2019 when the odometer was reading 03,277 miles, in his ownership he has covered less than 2,000 miles. Shortly after purchase, he had electric power steering fitted to aid the driving. Finished in British Racing Green with Stone Biege leather, it is supplied with a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in August 2025, a service book giving the service history up to 2019 and a file containing invoices, sales brochures, old MoT’s and a CD Rom repair manual. These RV8’s were built to a high standard with a good specification and being in limited numbers, especially UK supplied cars, means they contain all the right ingredients to become a future classic. In its debut, the 996 featured the most significant changes to the Carrera model since its 1963 introduction, namely the water-cooled engine replacing the previously air-cooled unit. Other changes included a sleeker body with a more steeply raked windshield and a redesigned interior. The performance characteristics remained superb with reliability at its core. This Carrera 4S is the ultimate incarnation of Porsche's 996 with the more desirable 3.6 litre engine and looks to match. This desirable and well maintained example of the Carrera 4S boasts just 35,850 miles from new, first registered on the 12th December 2003 costing £71,184 the car was specified with £5,163 of options including PCM with telephone module, electric sunroof, Bose sound system, rear console in body colour, Cruise control, heated seats and stainless steel door sills. Presented in Artic Silver with black leather, this car presents very much as a low mileage pampered example with very few blemishes to be found, the caliper’s are resplendent in their bright red colour and all electrics working as they should upon inspection. Having just one former keeper, this incredibly capable sports car is equally adept on the morning commute as it is racing through the A roads. The car has been maintained by Porsche main dealers Guildford and West London until 2018, when care transferred to Synergy Supercars, who have serviced this example three further times including most recently in May of this year, which was a major service with replacement of spark plugs. A fantastically presented example of one of the most desirable models in the 996 range, with comprehensive service history, and ready to enjoy. Or indeed at this price point, tuck away or use sparingly as 996 911 prices can only go up! Finished in its original colour combination of Red with black interior this example had been extensively restored in the mid 90’s, with a further £7,000 spent in parts alone over the last four years for our vendor to build a "fast road/hill climb car". The previous owner of the Midget embarked on the near three-year restoration, he stripped the car entirely and took back to bare metal with any issues of rust or corrosion, we are informed, were dealt with properly with new metal work. This included; new floors, new side sills (inner and outer), new wings (front and rear), new rear panel, new bonnet, new door skins as well as various other areas. The car was then painted in a rust proof primer, before being painted, the entire underside and wheel arches were painted with "under body Schutz" before being painted also in the body colour.Mechanically, the engine was treated to a full rebuild and the carburettor was upgraded to a Weber 40DCOE. All ancillaries were also refurbished or replaced with the brakes including pipes and hoses as well as the suspension completely rebuilt. The clutch was also replaced as was the fuel tank and pipes for new units. Outside, all the chrome was replaced, as were the rubbers and all lenses. New bumpers were fitted (subsequently removed but come with the car). The interior was treated to new carpets, new door panels, new seat covers, new gauges, as well as an entirely new wiring loom. The soft top was also replaced, as well as the frame for it. All in all, over £5,000 was spent on parts (in the early 90s!) before some 7,000 miles were completed between then 1996 and 2020.Purchased by our vendor in 2020, in his four years of ownership, he has further improved the car to how it stands today. Upgrades include a fully reconditioned five-speed type 9 Ford gearbox with short throw from Frontline, this alone was nearly £1,800 excluding labour. Frontline also supplied the roll cage, harness bar, mounting brackets and strengtheners. The radiator replaced with an aluminium unit, as well as an aluminium expansion tank, the rocker cover was replaced with an aluminium example. The suspension has been replaced with Frontline fast road shocks and springs, and the exhaust was replaced with a brand-new Peter May Maniflow system with heat wrapped manifold. The interior was not left alone, with new "Dynamat" proofing, a new carpet kit, that includes the boot, new Cobra racing seats with four-point harnesses and a new gear shifter knob. The wheels were also repainted black and fitted with a new set of Avon ZT Tyres. There is also a new roof that comes with the car but has not been fitted and a tonneau cover is in good condition. We are informed the car drives fantastically as a result, it's incredibly visceral, every journey is an event and puts a smile on your face. Supplied with a huge history file, and two photo albums depicting the restoration coupled to many of the original parts, including the gearbox, seats and bumpers. The fifth generation Mercedes-Benz SL, the R230, was manufactured between 2001 and 2008. With all the fun of the open air allied to what is effectively a proper hard-top coupé for those times when the weather was a little unpredictable, the car featured a fully retractable hardtop that was marketed as the Vario Roof- a first for the SL class although it had been available on the smaller SLK model since 1997. Stuffed full of high-tech safety features, its most significant was perhaps Active Body Control, or ABC, which used hydraulic accumulators to regulate and vary the height and stiffness of the suspension. This system gives – again – the best of all worlds; a pillowy soft ride when you want to gently cruise around, and a hard-edged sporting bias to the handling when you want to drive a little harder.A superb example of this timeless classic Mercedes-Benz sports car is presented in probably the best colour combination of silver with grey leather interior. Its first lady owner had the car up until 2020 and it has had two owners since (same family now deceased). The car comes with two sets of keys, sat nav, TV, cruise control, heated electric seats, six disc CD changer, electrically operated panoramic roof, Bluetooth and electric steering column. The space saving spare wheel is unused and all of the 18” upgraded Mercedes-Benz alloys are in mint condition and the car sits on a full set of Goodyear tyres. The car comes with an MoT test certificate which expires in February 2025, a substantial history file with 10 stamps (some Mercedes-Benz and some specialist), book pack and service books are all present. This must be one of the finest examples of this sublime sports car available and with its six-cylinder engine providing smooth power with good all round performance, wonderful leather interior and panoramic glass, this is the one to have! The 1981 Ferrari 308 is an iconic sports car, celebrated for its timeless design and driving performance. Part of Ferrari's 308 series, the 1981 model belongs to the 308 GTB/GTS line-up. Introduced in 1975, the 308 quickly became a symbol of Italian automotive excellence, with the 1981 version being one of the most refined iterations of this classic. Powered by a 2.9 litre V8 engine, the 308 produced around 240 horsepower. Though modest by today’s supercar standards, the car’s lightweight design, rear-wheel-drive layout, and precise five-speed manual transmission allowed it to deliver an exhilarating driving experience. The engine featured four twin-choke Weber carburettors, offering a distinct, throaty sound that became synonymous with Ferrari's character. Visually, the 1981 308 is distinguished by its Pininfarina-styled body, characterised by sleek, flowing lines, pop-up headlights, and a wedge-shaped silhouette that was emblematic of 1980s automotive design. The interior, though spartan by modern standards, was driver-focused, with supportive leather seats, a gated gear change and an instrument panel dominated by analogue gauges. The 308 gained widespread recognition through popular culture, especially as the car driven by Tom Selleck in the television series Magnum, P.I. This exposure cemented its status as an automotive icon. Today, the 1981 Ferrari 308 remains a sought-after classic, cherished for its heritage, beauty, and performance.Finished in Rosso Corsa with tan leather interior this left hand drive 1981 Ferrari 308 was imported from the U.S. and comes with a NOVA certificate, together with the original owners title. Present are also the owners manual and two sets of keys, together with some service documents. These super stylish Ferrari’s of the period are fantastic to drive when on song. Whilst this example will require a small amount of recommissioning, it is competitively estimated given the condition and odometer reading. These are arguably one of the prettiest of all Ferraris built. Consigned by Stewart Banks. IMPORTED FROM THE U.S. AND HAS A NOVA CERTIFICATE.
On 2 April 2004, almost four years after Ford's acquisition of Land Rover from BMW, Land Rover introduced the Discovery 3, marketed as the LR3 in North America and the Middle East, and had its international debut at the British International Motorshow in May. It retained the key features of the Discovery, such as the stepped roofline and steeply raked windscreen. The LR3 features full independent suspension (FIS). Like the Range Rover L322, this is an air suspension system, enabling ride-height adjustment by simply pumping up or deflating the air bags. The vehicle can be raised to provide ground clearance when off-road but lowered at high speeds to improve handling. Land Rover developed 'cross-linked' air suspension. When needed, the suspension mimics the action of a beam axle (as one wheel drops, the other rises). If the chassis of the vehicle contacts the ground when the suspension was at its 'off-road' height, the system senses the reduction in load on the air springs and raises the vehicle an extra inch. In the UK and European markets, a coil-spring independent suspension system was offered on the base model. This model was unique in the range by having only five seats and only being available with the 2.7-litre diesel engine. This model lacked the Terrain Response system. This particular vehicle was built by Land Rover Special Vehicles and is one of the nine vehicles built for Prince Harry’s tour of Africa in 2008. The same vehicles are seen in the Land Rover Owner International Magazine April 2010 edition, documenting Prince Harry’s journey. Also, a receipt found in the vehicle documents a payment for a Namibia border crossing. Equipped with electric front winch, spotlights and a reinforced roof plate for safari viewing. As well as a series of neat interior upgrades, such as a central console mini fridge. This Land Rover comes with a comprehensive service history and is a serious off-road machine. Fitted with leather seats (rear passenger seat is stuck in the lowest position), (radio is currently not working) CD player, sat nav and electric windows this Discovery has recently had front suspension arms replaced and a service of which all receipts can be seen in the history file. The Vespa has evolved from a single model motor scooter manufactured in 1946 by Piaggio & Co. of Pontedera, Italy. Designed by Renzo Spolti and Vittorio Casini and known as the MP5 (Moto Piaggio no.5). Upon seeing this new design for the first time, Enrico Piaggio exclaimed ‘Sembra una Vespa!’ (It resembles a wasp).A fully restored example of the 150cc 1968 Vespa purchased in 2011 and swiftly restored, this restoration included fully reconditioning the engine before registering the scooter in 2012 with a UK V5 registration certificate. The British Lambretta archive have confirmed this as a 68 model and produced importantly in Italy with the frame number VLB1T076132 a letter of which can be found in the history file. Introduced on 1st March 1993, the Impreza which, according to an article in ‘Motor Trend’, was initially to be called the Loyale, was offered in either front-wheel or all-wheel drive versions and as a four-door saloon or five-door hatchback. Subaru chose to continue their longstanding use of the boxer engine in the Impreza. According to Subaru, their configuration of the engine in-line with the transmission minimises body roll due to the lower centre of gravity compared with offset engines in most other vehicles. This example is presented in the iconic Rally Blue with black/blue interior which is typical of this marque and is so recognisable across the world owing to its international rally roots. It comes with electric windows to front and rear, CD player and a very good history file (two folders) with a considerable amount of invoices showing expenditure over the years. The vendor has informed us that the car will come with a new MoT test certificate upon delivery to the Auction. Consigned by James Good. Following the resounding success of the R107, the R129 Mercedes-Benz SL had a rather tough act to follow, as it still had to carry on the tradition of a fast and reliable grand touring convertible. The advantage designers had with the R129 was technology. By the time the final car rolled off the production line in 1989, these earlier models had been in production for 18 years with very little change. Therefore, the SL500 featured many new and innovative ideas, such as controlled electronic damping, automatically expanding roll-over bar and a more modern multi-link rear axle. In addition to this was a fully operating electric roof, windows, door mirrors and seats, which made this model easy and comfortable to operate. The new SL also boasted a more powerful engine and the stopping power was aided by anti-locking braking for added reassurance.First registered on 1st June 1995 this lovely low mileage example shows just 38,000 kms which is believed to be correct as evidenced by the paperwork, but is not warranted. It was supplied new to Japan and came to the UK in 2017 where it has had three subsequent owners and clearly been looked after with a no expense spared attitude. Complete with two keys, significant recent invoices, MoT until July 2025 current V5C and factory hardtop this 500 SL appears to be in remarkable condition for a car approaching 30 years old! The E36 was BMW’s third generation of the popular executive car range. This variant was created to replace the, already successful, E30 chassis platform and benefited from a multilink rear suspension set-up that improved handling characteristics dramatically. This particular car was the flagship M3 variant offered in a bright Mugello Red paint with the sought after Alcantara and cloth 'Vader' interior. The M3 was designed to give the driver a more focused and performance orientated driving experience. Powered by a high revving 3.0 litre engine producing an impressive 286bhp, the M3 had heaps of performance within a car that could be used every day. The M3 also benefited from improved brakes and a limited slip differential to separate it from the rest of the BMW range. The M3’s potential, affordable price tag and usability, propelled the car to automotive superstardom making it the benchmark coupé that other manufactures aim to compete with. This early 3.0 litre manual E36 M3 is presented in rare Mugello Red with even rarer motorsport cloth trim. Our vendor has privately owned and cherished this example for a decade and not surprisingly, the condition is surmountable with that and a low mileage of 77,500 miles, circa 2,500 a year! Boasting a comprehensive service history, the last in April 2024 the car has also recently had the oil pump replaced with a genuine BMW unit by BMW specialists Cragos. The paint was refreshed four years ago in 2020 at a cost of £6,000 and described as ‘near perfect now’ and recently ceramic coated at a cost of £1,000 it has been used for show and shine only since. The skyrocketing residual values of the earlier generation M3’s has had a halo effect on the rest of the BMW range over the last few years, making them highly desirable to any budding driver and collector looking for a fun vehicle to invest in. This is offered also with an MoT until July 2025 all service manuals, full folder of receipts and MoT certificates. This is a stunning example of a truly eye-catching car which is certainly a future benchmark classic; certainly, one of the best we have had for sale for a long time!
