A Louis Philippe gilt bronze three light bouillotte table lamp, circa 1830, the engine milled urn sconces on cornucopia form scrolling arms cast with imbricated laurel, issuing from an engine milled stem and on a conforming dished and gadrooned circular base; the tole peinte shade mounted on a square section adjustable stem cast with arrow heads and a loop finial, 54cm high, 35cm wide overall CATALOGUE NOTES: This model of lamp is named after the French card game of Bouillotte, which was popular during the French Revolution and first half of the 19th century. With its non-flammable painted metal shade, which could be adjusted downwards as the candles burnt away, the Bouillotte lamp became a popular feature on games tables
