Victorian coromandel mounted ladies travelling toilet case, circa 1861, rectangular form inlaid with brass bound corners, the cover inset with a brass plaque engraved with the Johnston Family crest and monogram, the red velvet and leather fitted interior with five cut glass jars, of various form, each with star cut base and silver-gilt engine turned top and central engraved monogram, by Frederick Henry Brockwell, London, 1861, with brass Bramah Patent lock L17cm x H9.5cm x D11.5cm The crest was used by a number of Johnston families in Ireland in the period from the late 17th century. Notably the family of Johnston from Holly Park, County Down from whom many later Johnston family lines in Ireland are descended.
