A Victorian silver vinaigrette, of shaped rectangular form, with engine turned decoration, and blank shield to the cover, Birmingham 1842, maker Nathaniel Mills, 2.5cm long, together with an 18th Century circular box and cover engraved with contemporary initials SH or HS and an open rose flower head, unmarked, 2.25cm (2)
Waltham, a 14ct gold open-faced keyless pocket watch, the white enamel dial with black Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds dial, 24 hour `up and down` work and blued spade hands, the movement having a lever escapement with a split bimetallic balance and an overcoil hairspring, the backplate having engine-turned decoration and signed `Crescent St, Waltham, Mass. 20130781`, the case stamped on the inside `Keystone, 14K, .585 Fine, Guaranteed`, diameter: 48mm. * Aaron Dennison (1812-1895) originally set up the American Watch Company in circa 1854, being the predecessor of the Waltham Watch Company although watches continued to be signed by both concerns along with other companies under the firm`s umbrella. Dennison moved to Birmingham, England where he set up the well-known Dennison case making concern.
An early 20th century, 18ct gold, pink enamelled and seed-pearl mounted quartz crystal parasol handle, the reeded quartz crystal with a band of pink enamel over engine-turning, decorated with a band of split seed-pearls, stamped `18ct Brigg`, 65mm long overall and in fitted leather case stamped `Brigg & Sons`.
Villemsens a Paris. A mid-Victorian ormolu mantel clock having an eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half hours on a bell with an outside countwheel and silk suspension, the backplate stamped with the trademark of the maker of the roulant-blanc `Pons a Paris` and the clokmaker `Villemsens a Paris`, the silvered dial having an engine-turned centre with black Roman numerals and blued steel moon hands, the case depicting a female figure leaning on the drum within which sits the movement with classical mouldings applied to the front, height: 43cm. * F. Villemsens is recorded as working in Paris from at least 1820 until after 1840.
Richard & Co, A late-Victorian French `four-glass` mantel clock with eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half hours on a gong with a twin tube mercury compensating pendulum, the ivorine dial having Arabic numerals and a decorative engine-turned centre and blued steel hands, the brass `four-glass` case having fluted columns to the four corners, with bands of floral filigree work above and below the front door, height: 27cm. * Richard et Cie, clockmakers of Paris, opened a retail outlet in Cannon Street, London in 1867, becoming `and Co`,
A pair of gilt bronze mounted white marble cassolettes in the Louis XVI style, late 19th century, each of ovoid form (whilst sockets concealed), with domed tops each above a circlet with three ram’s heads on monopodia, on circular bases with foliate cast decoration and three toupie feet, the laurel cast sockets with engine milled rims, 19.5cm high.
