A George IV silver rectangular vinaigrette by William Simpson, Birmingham 1831, engine turned with a foliate chased border, the gilt interior with a pierced and engraved cornucopia grille (detached), 4cm (1.5in) wide; another smaller similar by Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham 1835, 3.5cm (1.25in) wide; another of purse form by William Edwards, London 1817, the gilt interior with a flower and foliate pierced grille, 3cm (1.25in) wide; and a small oblong example by Francis Clark, Birmingham 1835, the gilt interior with an engraved and dot pierced grille, 2cm (0.75in) wide. An early Victorian oblong snuff box by Nathaniel Mills, Birmingham 1838, the cover with a vacant tablet on an engine turned ground and with a flower and foliate chased thumbpiece, the sides reeded, the base engine turned, the interior gilt, 7.7cm (3in) wide, 87g (2.75 oz). An early Victorian silver oblong snuff box by Taylor & Perry, Birmingham 1838, the cover with a shield reserve on an engraved tartan ground, the sides and base with conforming grounds, the interior gilt, 6.5cm (2.5in) long; and a Victorian rectangular card case by Frederick Marson, Birmingham 1869, with an engine turned ground and flower, scroll and line borders to both sides, the front with a belted vacant shield reserve, 8.3cm (3.25in) high, 89g (2.75 oz) gross. The first later engraved 'Presented to Mr James Creed as a mark of respect by the Workmen lately under his control at the Hope Foundry Leeds 20th June 1854'. Visit www.dnfa.com for condition reports.
A Louis XVI two-colour gold folding pocket knife, Paris 1779, charge and discharge marks for the 'fermier' Jean Baptiste Fouache (1775-1781) and post Revolution marks, the steel blade stamped 'Delaunay', engine turned with a guilloche border and florette terminals, with a gold and a steel blade, 10.3cm (4in) long; in a shagreen case, probably later.
