Hunting Interest: A William IV silver snuff box, of rectangular form with engine turned base and sides, foliate decorated clasp and hinged cover decorated in relief with hunting scene of two hounds running after a rabbit, with gilt interior, hallmarked by Edward Edwards II, London, 1835, approx. 10.5cm wide x 3cm high x 5.4cm deep. Weight approx. 209.4 grams (6.7ozt) Further details: patches of tarnish and marks to sides; tarnishing and surface wear / slight scratching and very minor loss to gilding.
A late 19th / early 20th century Chinese tea chest, made of red and gold lacquered wood with applied butterflies and foliate design, with brass handles to sides and escutcheon, interior with lead / zinc lining and hinged cover with engine turned foliate and village scene, with ebonised wooden and mother of pearl handle, approx. 24cm wide x 17.2cm deep x 14.7cm high. Further details: loss to wood and lacquer to areas; design is scratched; lots of wear and has some chips or nibbles etc; hinges still working well but back of lid of box is broken and split, near hinge so in need of repair, general wear and loss commensurate with age.

This lot belonged to Lieutenant Colonel Amedeo Paradisi, a Royal Air Force pilot in the 205th Squadron, 41st Group of the 12th Bombardment Wing, known as the 'Sorci Verdi'. In 1937, flying a S.79 (SIAI-Marchetti S.M.79 Sparviero) with his colleague Cupini, they landed as the first pair in the Istres-Damascus-Paris race; another eloquent proof came in 1938, when Biseo was ordered to fly from Rome to Rio de Janeiro in only two stages, the general chose Paradisi as the second, on this occasion Captain Moscatelli supported Castellani and Bruno Mussolini had Lieutenant Mancinelli as his companion. The three 'Sorci Verdi' thus took to the air. I-BISE and I-BRUN, commanded by Biseo and Mussolini respectively, reached the shores of Rio de Janeiro.
