Very rare (1/1,366) 1300cc Giulietta Sprint Speciale with great provenance 100bhp/120mph from the 1290cc double overhead cam, alloy block, straight-four. Remarkable Correct 5-speed box, rare alloy wheels, upgraded front brakes and an oil cooler Until recently part of a large UK private collection and maintained by their in-house mechanic Eligible to race in a plethora of prestigious 'Blue Riband' events 2015 FIA/MSA Historic Technical Passport (Period E 1947-61 Class GTS4) valid until 2025 Carta di Circolazione, CSAI Passaporto and Log Book, Classic Car Taxatie (Dutch valuation) When Francesco Vittorio Scaglione moved to Turin in 1951 in pursuit of his dream to become a car stylist, he was fortunate enough to be taken under the wing of a young Nuccio Bertone, who had recently established his own design studio and body shop. Franco's first efforts were focussed on an Abarth 1500 and the svelte Siata 208CS followed by the dramatic BAT 5. In 1954, he styled the Alfa Sportiva Coupé and Spider, subsequently the superbly balanced Giulietta Sprint (aided and abetted by ex-Ghia, Mario Boano) and finally, the out-of-this-world BAT 7, a design that stops traffic now never mind 65 years ago. Scaglione's output was prodigious with creative designs flowing from his fingertips onto the drawing board. In 1956, he penned the remarkable little Giulietta Sprint Speciale, an example of which we are offering here. It embodied his search for streamlined beauty and, despite the lack of computer-aided design, the car's Coefficient of Drag was a tiny .28, scarcely troubling the surrounding air, and a figure that would not be bettered for 20 years. In 1957, at the Turin Motor Show, a pre-production prototype of the SS was given a low-key debut to assess reaction and was particularly well-received, however, Alfa continued to tweak the design and displayed two further prototypes at later motor shows until, on June 24th 1959, the official press launch of the finalised design was held at Monza in the lovely Italian sunshine. The new car was powered by an Alfa Romeo Twin Cam straight-four of 1290cc, with an aluminium-alloy engine block and cast-iron inserted sleeves. The 'crossflow' alloy head featured hemispherical combustion chambers and the double overhead camshafts were driven by two timing chains and acted on two valves per cylinder, angled at 80°. With 100bhp available and lightweight streamlined bodywork, this little car had a recorded maximum speed of 124mph, quite remarkable for a 1300. Motorsport is part of the Italian DNA and Alfa were convinced that Scaglione's incredibly 'slippery' design would offer success on the circuits and with the FIA requirement to produce 100 cars in order for the model to be 'Homologated', the first 101 cars produced had the "low nose" and 750SS designation. Whilst there were some all-aluminium cars produced, the majority of these cars had steel bodies with aluminium doors, engine bonnet and boot lid. After these initial cars, the Tipo 101.2 was introduced as a production road-going model and changes included steel doors, Weber 40 DCOE2 carburettors, a higher front nose, removal of Plexiglas windows, bumpers front and rear, and minimal sound-proofing. In total 1,366 1.3-litre, Giulietta SS were completed with production ending in 1965. This charming Guilietta SS 1300 dates from early 1960 and was used as a road car until being converted to an historic racing car in Italy at some point in the past. During 2005, it was granted FIA papers (Period E /Class HGTS4) and in 2011, the little Alfa was imported to the UK to join a large private collection where it was campaigned by a prominent historic racer and carefully maintained by the collection's personal mechanic. In 2015, it was fitted with new FIA seats and belts but, as always with any competition car, it is essential that a new owner satisfies himself as to the legality, validity and currency of any racing-related equipment. An MSA/FIA Historic Technical Passport (Racing and Hill-Climb) was issued in 2015 and is valid until the end of 2025. The car is nicely prepared and has been well maintained with the bodywork, underneath, running gear and engine all appearing to remain in very good condition. It's fitted with twin Weber DCOE2s, an oil cooler and retains its correct 5-speed gearbox, however, the internals of the original engine obviously made a determined bid for freedom as it has been replaced by another original, model-correct, power unit. Lighter alloy wheels replace the original steel examples and the triple-shoe front brakes have been upgraded to aid retardation. It is supplied with old Italian registration documents that date back to 1967, the FIA/MSA HTP, Carta di Circolazione, CSAI Passaporto and Log Book (lots of interesting entries), a Classic Car Taxatie (Dutch valuation) along with a binder full of history. With only a handful of these cars racing, both in Europe and the UK, their values continue to strengthen and this venerable Alfa seems very competitively guided. We are sure that the car will be welcome at a number of prestigious motorsport events throughout Europe but, even if you choose not to race it, this is a classic example of Bertone's most creative period and with its diminutive stance, fifties Alfa cachet and Scaglione's 'molten velvet' flowing lines, it's simply a work of automotive art. You can book an appointment to view this the FORD GT40 with Lionel Abbott. Please make contact on 07831 574381 to agree a suitable date and for location details. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to strict COVID-19 guidelines and full instructions will be given when making your appointment.Terry Drury built up a very comprehensive spare parts stock including a 'Works' 302 cubic inch, four-bolt main bearing, Gurney-Weslake Ford V8 and a ZF Le Mans gearbox. The inventory, we understand, included a tub featuring the infamous fuel-cross over fabrications and it is believed that this spare monocoque was supplied to Terry after #1073 was damaged at Monza, however, the damage turned out to be less serious than initially thought and the new tub was put aside.Fast forward some fifty years and after a lifetime in motorsport, it was decided that Terry Drury Racing would set about assembling their GT40 as an homage to #1005 and #1073, utilising many original parts, and the period Gurney-Weslake and ZF-1 gearbox. As the project started, Silverstone Auctions were invited to the TDR premises and to view the etch-primed bare monocoque, still tight as a drum, and discuss with Terry the build specification and the plethora of original works parts that would be incorporated in the build.A new wiring loom to the original specification was used, however, original factory connector plugs for the front and rear bodywork are used. The steering column and rack are original items together with refurbished tie-rods. The steering column flasher stalk is original, as are the Lucas switches and warning lights. Both the heated screen and the original wiper motor mechanism operate and the ventilation system on the dash features the original eye-ball air vents and dash centre windscreen vent. Another rare feature is the foot vent on the passenger side centre section, designed to extract hot air from the tunnel carrying internal pipework from the front radiator and engine. The front and rear uprights are original factory Magnesium items (one rear upright has 1015 stamped on it) as are the tubular wishbones, driveshafts, hubs and rear roll bar and the original Koni double adjustable spring/damper units were rebuilt by 'TrueChoice' in the USA. The front wheels are original BRM Magnesium 15 x 9 inch but the rears are remanufactured 15 x 14 inch to the same BRM Magnesium specification with Halibrand spinners. The original 'Works' 302 cubic inch, 4-bolt main bearing Gurney Weslake Ford V8 is complete with its original steel crank, 'Indy' rods, and works peak-top pistons with the bore size remaining at 4-inches. The rocker assembly was acquired with other miscellaneous parts from Dan Gurney's private collection and original Italian Weber 48 IDA carburettors are fitted. The build of the engine was sadly interrupted by Terry's passing but was completed by his sons, Jack and Steven and time-served TDR mechanics. A new aluminium radiator and oil cooler were fabricated to original spec and a fan ensures temperatures stay within limits. The engine oil cooler is housed in an original mount with period-correct fittings and the gearbox oil cooler is located where Terry Drury preferred, on top of the rear subframe. The fuel system features brand-new FIA-approved Premier tank bladders in each side pontoon (accompanied by their Certificates of Conformity) and both pontoons retain the original aluminium fuel tank closing panels. Fuel lines are in Aeroquip fed by the original Stewart Warner pumps, complete with a new rebuild kit. The fuel filler caps are also the original magnesium type with the, now very rare, vent valves used on the early cross-over monocoques. The car's brakes - new callipers, pads, vented disc and bells from BG Developments - are brand new but original specification and period correct. The brake lines have been run as original with copper piping routed through the monocoque in their original positions whilst some of the flexible piping is now in Aeroquip with safety in mind. The fibreglass seats were produced by the original trimmer and feature parachute material with those distinctive brass eyelets. Many original body panels had been retained by TDR over the years and we understand that the vented front section, rear body and doors with period-correct latches, were as used at Monza, Spa and Le Mans.Although not a household name, Terry Drury played a significant part in the world of British motorsport for several decades. As well as building and racing some amazing Special Saloons whilst working for Ford, he played a significant role in Ford Advanced Vehicles helping develop the GT40. He was also responsible for the 'Supervan', a GT40-engined Ford Transit van and there was many a Transit van-driving teenager with a photograph of a sideways 450bhp Supervan on their bedroom wall. Many years later, whilst preparing a competitive Ford Falcon Sprint for the HSCC, it occurred to him that it might be fun to finally build his GT40 monocoque into a full car and recreate some of those happy days with #1005 and #1073.This 1968 GT40 is unique, in the proper sense of the word consisting of, not only this extraordinarily faithfully-constructed monocoque but so many original parts from Terry Drury's personal collection. It has been acknowledged by one of the most respected GT40 specialists as the most accurate monocoque Ford GT40 that he has ever seen. Jaguar's seminal Mk2 sports saloon in the ultimate 3.8-litre, manual/overdrive configuration UK/right-hand drive, matching numbers, original panels, and in its original colours of Opalescent Silver Grey with red interior Fully documented ownership history and a verifiable 20,400 miles Magazine-featured (see images) and considered one of best Mk2 examples in the UK Accompanied by a large history file, including many invoices, photos, a Heritage Certificate and all-original handbooks, toolkit, and even the paper tag that hung on the cigarette lighter to inform owners how to use it! In 2006, sold to Richard Fairbrass, lead singer of Right Said Fred, by a prominent Jaguar specialist where it benefited from a full engine-bay detail, power steering and other driving enhancements believed costing in excess of £60,000 One of the best Mk2 examples we have ever offered for sale Launched in October 1959, the Jaguar Mk2 offered a noticeably improved driving experience over its predecessor courtesy of revised front suspension geometry, widened rear track, and four-wheel disc brakes. It was also better looking and, fittingly, the Mk2 was voted 'Car of the Year' in 1959 and would form the mainstay of Jaguar's saloon car production until 1967. One of the most readily recognised cars of the 1960's, thanks in part to countless appearances in films and on television, Jaguar's seminal Mk2 saloon set the standard for the class throughout its entire production life and today remains highly prized by enthusiasts. With the advent of the Mk2, the 3.8-litre version of Jaguar's XK twin-cam six became available for the first time in the company's medium-sized saloon. In 3.8-litre, manual/overdrive configuration with 220bhp on-tap and a whopping 240lb/ft of torque available at a lowly 3,000rpm, it was a genuine 125 mph car capable of reaching 60mph in 8.5 seconds, outstanding figures for a saloon of its size and making it the fastest saloon in the world at the time. The car presented here is that most desirable of models, a 1961 Jaguar Mk2 3.8-litre M/OD. This particular car is well-known and has been magazine-featured, having completed a genuine and well-documented 20,400 miles from new. It was sold new to a Mr James Young of Strathaven, Scotland, who ordered this Mk2 from Rossleigh Motors, notably with Ace Turbo wheel-trims and two huge air-horns situated in the front wings! Mr Young owned Townhead Garage and upon delivery of the car, he took the rather unusual step of having it professionally stripped and repainted in his 'garage livery' of Coffee and Cream. This work was carried out by Millar & Williamson of Kirkintilloch and period photographic documentation (in the accompanying history file) depicts the car in this colour scheme (Mr Young also assigned the very special registration number 'NU 1' to the car at this time, and this was later purchased by Norwich Union). Mr Young only used the car sparingly at weekends and for holidays, however in 1964 he sadly fell ill and the Mk2 sat unused until his death 23 years later in 1987. Townhead Garage was then sold to a Mr Jimmy Louden and he agreed with Mr Young's widow that he would help dispose of her husband's car collection that had quietly accumulated over the years. Jimmy Louden fully re-commissioned the car and it was sold in 1988 with just 8,500 miles on the clock! In subsequently passed between a number of owners since (all fully documented in history file, often with letters from each), including a Mr Kevin Videan of Pembrokeshire, who together with the Mk2 featured in a great article in the January 2005 edition of 'Jaguar Enthusiast' magazine (photos of which are attached to this listing, use arrows to click right through). Prior to his ownership, the car was professionally restored back to its original colour combination (with another high quality repaint in 2012 with a photographic record and receipts); the only external deviation now from the original factory specification is the fitment of wire wheels. The interior is one of the best we have seen, presented in an unrestored condition, with a beautiful patina and unrepeatable original smell, a rare opportunity to experience just how Jaguar prepare their veneers when new! The only upgrade is the addition of a recreated Derrington steering wheel, a popular upgrade in the period. In 2006, it was sold to Richard Fairbrass, lead singer of 'Right Said Fred', by a leading Jaguar specialist where it benefitted from a full engine-bay detail, power steering and other driving enhancements believed to cost in excess of £60,000. Our vendor purchased the car in 2011 and has continued the fastidious maintenance and storage of it. Having enjoyed his time with it, this fabulous Mk2 is now ready for a new owner to drive and enjoy. Click here for more information This car was consigned by Joe Watts. Built by Peugeot Sport UK under the guidance of Des O'Dell. Sister car to actual factory owned T16 1.8-litre, turbocharged, 16v, transversely-mounted, 4-cylinder producing 350+bhp and 332lb.ft Used by Jon Woodner with great success in the US between late 84 and 88 Purchased by Peter Johnson & shipped to New Zealand in 2000 prior to a full recommission Rebuilt & upgraded by NZ rally legend, Ron McMillan, to a remarkable standard In the UK since 04, invited everywhere & actively displayed by its owners A comprehensive history, large owner's file & a substantial spares package 'Group B' cars with this pedigree & known history rarely come to market The Peugeot 205 T16 'Evolution 1' marked Peugeot's 'works' entry into top-level rallying, shaking the world of WRC 'Group B'. From its debut with Ari Vatanen, it was the car that provided 2 years of almost complete domination of the WRC by the Jean Todt-led Peugeot Talbot Sport team. As well as Vatanen, Bruno Saby, Timo Salonen, & Juha Kankkunen contributed to a total of 13 outright wins between 85/86, placing Peugeot at the pinnacle of Group B until it was eventually banned on safety grounds in 1987. The car's clever, mid-engine 4 x 4 packaging with transversely-mounted engine & suspension, great derivability made it almost unbeatable. With a 16-valve head, mechanical fuel injection compressed by a turbocharger running at approximately 1.5 BAR, the little four-pot developed as much as 400 bhp at an incredible 8,000 rpm. Peugeot factory stats quoted max torque was 332 lb.ft at 5000 rpm coupled with a relatively svelte 2,160 pounds, acceleration was almost linear prompting some drivers to complain of 'tunnel vision'. The example offered here is 'the' Jon Woodner Car # S007. Commissioned by American Real Estate Developer & rally driver in 84, it was built by Peugeot Sport UK under the guidance of Des O'Dell, before being exported to the USA for Jon's outings in the SCCA Rally Championship. The Peugeot arrived in the US late 84 & its 1st 'shakedown' was at the Carson City International Rally on Dec 8/9. The rally was won by Hannu Mikkola but unfortunately 'S7', co-driven by Ty Holmquist, recorded a DNF. The following year, with Tony Sircombe navigating, only 2 rallies were entered but 86 proved a more productive year with 7 SACCA events rewarding Jon & Tony with 5 podiums. The high spot of 86 was undoubtedly the Olympus Rally in early Dec which, was an official round of the World Rally Championship & consequently Jon & S7, as leading 'privateers' were treated to 'works support' & an abundance of factory upgrades. 87 was to be another full season for the team with events in Ireland, France & Belgium however the Peugeot remained at home in the States enjoying 5 outings in SACCA achieving two 2nd & a 3rd in very competitive fields. In early April 1988, Chassis S7 made its final appearance in Jon's hands at the intriguingly named Chattahoochee Forest Pro Rally poignantly resulting in an 'Open Class' win. Sadly, Jon was killed in an aeroplane crash 2 weeks later the 24th of April 1988. Having acquitted itself brilliantly over the previous three years, Jon's beloved T16 was put into storage by his widow in 89, however, in 2000, Peter Johnson, a New Zealand businessman purchased S7 & it was immediately shipped to NZ accompanied by a substantial quantity of spares. Shortly after its arrival, Ron McMillan of Road, Race & Rally in Auckland was asked to fully strip & assess the car and he entrusted Alistair Wickens to dismantle the rolling shell & evaluate its condition prior to the rebuild. Having fully considered all the options, Peter Johnson decided on a 'no-expense-spared' rebuild with some minor modifications to make it more approachable & acceptable for rallying in the early 2000s. There were small changes made to the bodywork, engine management, turbo & the car was fitted with Pectel fuel injection, new wiring, seats, safety equipment & a comprehensive replacement & upgrade of the suspension (Proflex), wheels & brakes. NB; the gearbox is now an original, period-correct, 6-speed, H-pattern E1. This more-modern spec enabled the car to qualify for current events & it subsequently enjoyed outings in the world-famous, 5-day Targa NZ & even UK/Ireland based rallies such as the Killarney International. Peter then formed an agreement with Lancashire-based, ex-works Peugeot driver, Kevin Furber, to buy & keep the car in the UK. Kevin had been around the factory in period & knew the car well so this was a dream fulfilled. In 2005, Andy Medlicott purchased a 50% share in the car to become its joint owner. The car has been maintained to the highest of standards, regardless of cost it’s been invited to & appeared at lots of major motoring events, both in the UK & Europe - Goodwood, Rallycar Day, Rally GB, Race Retro etc. not just as a static display but one that is ready to be driven & enjoyed. To quote Andy Medlicott; "As an ex-works Peugeot driver, Kevin does most of the display driving because the car is still fast and aggressive & needs to be treated with respect, however, I have had the opportunity to drive on several display events & test it. I remember driving in front of ten thousand people in Holland & feeling very nervous, not wanting to make a mistake but also feeling the need to put on a good display for the crowds, I'm always blown away with the crowd's reactions to this car & I'm very humbled when people ask for my autograph. Thanks to the Peugeot 205 T16, we’ve been to places we never would have been to & met people we never would have met. This includes many works drivers of the Group B era who have subsequently put their signature on the car - Ari Vatanen, Juha Kankkunen, Miki Biasion, Harri Toivonen & even Paddy Hopkirk". To accompany the T16 there is a history file that includes a District of Columbia Certificate of Title for Jon Woodner & his SCCA Rally Log Book detailing events 1984-87, the New Zealand Certificate of Registration, import & shipping papers for New Zealand & the UK, a 2003 Targa New Zealand Programme featuring S7, photographs of the car prior to the rebuild in, a T16 Service Manual & access to numerous films, videos & photographs of the car in the UK with such luminaries as Ari Vatanen, Colin McRae, Didier Auriol, Malcolm Wilson and Chris Ingram amongst others! A package of spares is included.Rarely do such iconic machines with known history from day one venture on to the open market making this an opportunity that may not come around again for a very long time. Home market, right-hand drive Elan Sprint Coupe, indicating just 52,710 miles (atoc) Beautifully presented in the desirable Sprint livery of Pistachio over Cirrus White Replacement chassis in 1997 then subject to an extensive restoration between 2001 - 2003 Offered with a large history folder documenting the life of this remarkable example A fabulous little Lotus. Elan by name and Elan by nature The desirable 'Sprint' model was introduced in 1971 and was the ultimate incarnation of Lotus'revolutionary little Elan. It justified its name thanks to a substantial increase in power to 126bhp resulting from the adoption of a big-valve head with high-lift cams, a raised compression ratio and (initially) Weber 40 DCOE 31s. The drivetrain was suitably toughened and braced and the front callipers were redesigned to cope with the increased performance. This home-market Sprint Coupé was first registered in the height of summer 1972 and is particularly striking in the attractive period 'Sprint' livery of Pistachio Green over Cirrus White. 48 years later this example presents superbly and could almost be described as being in showroom condition. We are advised that it was fitted with a new chassis in circa 1997 and that between 2001-2003 the car was subject to extensive restoration. The latter involved a complete strip-down and re-spray, an engine rebuild (believed to have been completed by marque specialist 'Nick Stagg Engineering'), conversion to unleaded compatibility, an overhaul of the steering, suspension and brakes, a new interior, and the fitting of a host of other new parts. A fascinating history file accompanies the little coupé and includes a record of all journeys from 1979 at 23,377 miles through to December 1985 at 47,133 miles, showing just how cherished this car has been. In the years that followed, it appears that the car was only lightly used after being restored, as by 2007 the mileage indicated was still just 48,000 (approximately) and to date is only 52,525. There is an invoice for a recent service at 52,498 miles, MOT Certificates from 2006 to 2018, plus numerous invoices for work/maintenance/parts (from 2002 up to 2018, totalling almost £15,000) from specialists Christopher Neil Lotus, Paul Matty Sports Cars, and QED Motorsport Ltd. Furthermore, there are specific invoices from 2008 that indicate further restoration, plus £3,131 spent with Paul Matty in 2012 for various maintenance items. There is no doubt that NHN 620K has received more than its share of care and attention and continues to look sharp and fresh. We understand that it's as agile and eager as a 'Sprint' should be and imagine that Mr Chapman, whose signature is etched into the steering wheel, would be proud that his inspired creation is as desirable now as the day it rolled out of Hethel all those years ago. One of only 574 Bentley convertibles produced between 1967 and 1995 Absolutely delightful combination of Royal Blue over blue-piped magnolia hide Excellent electric hood in matching blue mohair with a blue-piped magnolia fitted cover Just over 39,000 miles from new supported by the comprehensive service history Freshly MOT'd, spare keys, full and original book pack set and service schedule The cherished registration H20 BCT will remain with the car The Bentley Continental and Rolls-Royce Corniche convertibles were built in Crewe and both utilised the traditional 6.75-litre Rolls-Royce alloy engine, and GM auto gearbox found in their saloon variant, the Silver Shadow. The Series I Bentley and Rolls-Royce Corniche Convertible versions of the Shadow and T1 models first appeared in 1967, and production continued up until the first major face-lift in 1988, renamed the Corniche II when ABS and airbags became standard. The Series III debuted at the 1989 Frankfurt Motor Show when new alloy wheels, a revised interior, colour-coded bumpers, more advanced suspension, and MK-Motronic fuel injection were introduced. The final iteration, the Series IV, arrived in 1992. This particular Continental Series III has the benefits of the Rolls-Royce Corniche III upgrades and is a UK-car supplied through Jack Barclay when new. It's finished in the stylish colour combination of Royal Blue with Magnolia hide, piped blue, and a blue electric soft top, the car sits well, drives superbly and looks very smart in the metal. The full and comprehensive service history supports the current indicated mileage of just over 39,000 miles. Between 1967 and 1995 just 574 Bentley soft tops were produced compared to 4,548 Corniche convertibles, making this car a rare and special opportunity underpinned both by its condition and provenance. On offer from a private Bentley collector, this delightful motor car is offered with an MOT valid until May 2021, spare keys and its original book pack and service records. The essence of Continental ownership was once most aptly summed up by Autosport's inimitable John Bolster. Writing in 1958, Bolster noted that the Continental was a classical design that achieved a high degree of excellence by its sheer quality of construction: "In doing so, it develops an individuality, a character, call it what you will, that makes it entirely different from any other marque. The man who drives a Continental lives in an enchanted world, for everybody calls him 'sir' and he may park where other lesser cars may never tread." Despite the passage of more than 60 years, Bolster's words ring every bit as true today as they did then. Click here for more information This car was consigned by Harry Whale. In 1971, the Europa Twin Cam (Type 74) was introduced with a 105bhp, 1558cc Lotus-Ford 'Twink'Body-off and new chassis. Fastidiously restored over a 12-year period Bodywork fully stripped and re-painted in amazing Roman Purple. New Beige and Oatmeal interiorBig-bore engine rebuilt and set up by the legendary Richard Winter of Europa Engineering. Now 145bhpRebuilt chassis, electrics etc. In fact virtually everything. Over £30,000 has been spent with specialists Thousands of hours of work by the previous owner. A real labour of loveWith only 2,000 miles completed since the restoration, this immaculate Twin Cam is sensibly guided and is a cost-effective entry into '70s classic sports cars Launched at the 1967 Brussels Show, the Lotus Type 46 - the Europa - was the marque's first mid-engined road car, and was powered by a Renault 16 engine mounted in an Elan-type backbone frame. Its specification also included all-round independent coil-sprung suspension and disc brakes on the front wheels (subsequently on the rear, too). Unusual styling provided ample luggage space while rearward visibility through the narrow, full-width back window was surprisingly good.Having been manufactured exclusively for export for its first two years, the Europa made its UK debut in 1969 in improved S2 form. Renault engined like its S1 predecessor, the S2 reverted to a conventional body/chassis attachment, the S1 'shell having been bonded in place - a move that greatly simplified, and cheapened, accident repairs - while electric windows and adjustable seats were welcome additions to the previously somewhat penny-pinching specification. In the autumn of 1971, the Type 74 Europa Twin Cam was introduced, powered, as its name suggests, by the Ford-based DOHC engine from the Elan. With 105 bhp on tap, the Twin Cam was good for 117 mph, a figure bettered by the more powerful (126 bhp) 'Big Valve' engined Special model that superseded it after a year.According to the Lotus Europa Twin Cam Register, Chassis No. 74/1041P was built in the Autumn of 1971 and finally invoiced on 28/10/1971. It's listed as having Engine No.25136, a 4-speed 336-56 gearbox and was originally finished in L14 (Colorado Orange). The stunning little Roman Purple car you see today has come a long way since then. It's been subject to a 12-year fastidious restoration and we are fortunate to have the full details of this 'labour of love'. The report runs to five pages and is too long to list here (please click our website link below to view the report) but we can offer the opening paragraph."The restoration took place over a 12 year period. The car arrived in a very poor state and it was obvious from the start that this would be an exhaustive and complete restoration. The body was removed and the original chassis exposed and inspected and as suspected was badly corroded across the front T. This is the usual place where corrosion occurs, because of a water build-up over the front T piece. The best option would be to replace the old chassis with a new one. I bought a genuine Lotus chassis that had been refurbished to as new. The idea was to move usable parts from the old chassis to the new, whilst refurbishing during the changeover. As it turned out, very little of the old running gear was salvageable, so new parts were sought out and installed."The rest of the report is as comprehensive as we have ever seen and, in our opinion, totally confidence-inspiring. We understand that the car has only covered around 2,000 miles since the restoration and certainly presents superbly today in a classic period shade of Roman Purple with Gold pin-stripes and a delightful interior in Beige, Oatmeal and Burr Walnut. The odometer currently indicates 85,172 miles which is completely academic as most of the car has covered about 2,000 miles. It's fair to say that elderly Lotus sports cars do not have a reputation for being the most reliable forms of transport and, without wishing to denigrate the efforts of the legendary ACBC, build quality didn't win any Oscars either but, in terms of innovative design, no company was better. So this little purple jewel is the best of all worlds combining the looks and handling of the Europa Twin Cam with an engine prepared by one of the best engine builders anywhere and the build quality you would expect from an owner who put thousands of careful hours into his pride and enjoy. It's remarkably sensibly guided so read the full report below, look at the photographs, and make a decision that, for once, works for both head and heart. UK-supplied, right-hand drive, with less than 25,000 warranted miles from new Superbly presented in Arctic Silver Metallic with Black Extended Leather Desirable six-speed manual gearbox Complete dealer/specialist service history. Porsche COA. Recent MOT Presented with all hand and service books, all service invoices and both keys An exceptional example. A reluctant sale from discerning Porsche collector The sparkling Boxster 'S' Manual that we have on offer here must surely qualify as one of the very finest currently available and is finished in Arctic Silver Metallic with a Black Hood and desirable Extended Black Leather. According to its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, it was optioned from new with Heated Seats, 19'' Carrera Classic Alloy Wheels, a Sports Steering Wheel, and Top Tinted glass, a very desirable specification. The top of the range 'S' was powered by the state of the art, 3.4-'litre, 299 bhp/250 lb.ft, water-cooled DOHC, 24-valve, Boxer flat-6 (Vario Cam Plus) 'M97.22' This UK-spec, right-hand drive, 987 was built in early 2008 at the Valmet Automotive plant in Uusikaupunki, Finland and was supplied new by the Porsche Centre Sheffield in January 2009. At the time of cataloguing the odometer indicated mileage of less than 25,000 and this is supported by MOTs and a 'full dealer/specialist' service history as below. 7,574 miles (Porsche) 13,841 miles (Porsche) 20,069 miles (Porsche) 23,006 miles (Zentrum Porsche) 24,226 miles (Zuffenhaus Porsche), with the last 'major' service including gearbox oil, spark plugs and drive belt replacement. All service/handbooks are present as is the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity together with the car's original two keys. The recently issued MOT Certificate (No Advisories), shows a recorded mileage of 24,423 and is valid until February 2021. The standard of finish, externally and internally, is exceptional and a testament to all four custodians who have clearly lavished much time in keeping up its appearance. It remains virtually unmarked throughout including the wheels which are wearing matching Bridgestone Potenza tyres. The 300bhp, 3.4-litre engine, six-speed manual gearbox and legendary Porsche build quality make the Boxster S one of the most enjoyable performance cars available at any price and dynamically the 'S' is still the 'King' of the roadster brigade. On offer from a small 'classic' collection, this lovely low-mileage car has all the gloss, integrity and well-oiled solidity of a 987 that's just rolled of the production line and will provide its next lucky owner with a sensibly guided entry into the rather exclusive world of Porsche ownership. Supplied in July 1985 to HR Owen Finished in Nero Daytona metallic with Crema hide piped in Nero Optioned from new with air conditioning, a deep front spoiler and a rear aerofoil 60,253 miles supported by a comprehensive and detailed service history Major cambelt service plus other maintenance work in December 2018 at 60,118 miles Recent new tyres, refurbished wheels, minor cosmetic paintwork and the leather Connolised Lovely, late production, matching numbers, QV in superb condition October 1975, saw the debut at the Paris Motor Show of the most successful shape ever to wear the Cavallino Rampante emblem, the Ferrari 308 and during its comparatively long production run from 1975 - 1989, over 20,000 examples of all engine types and sizes were produced. This new car was constructed on a traditional steel tube chassis, but its beautiful body was initially manufactured in GRP and then after two years, Scaglietti started making GTBs in steel. The 3-litre, four-cam V8 was more or less unchanged until March 1981 when Bosch fuel injection was added in place of the 4 double-choke Webers, reducing the engine's power output significantly, although the final drive was altered on these cars to give similar acceleration to a carburettor car. Two years later, the 4-valve per cylinder Quattrovalvole or 'QV' model pushed output back up to 240 hp restoring the status quo. European spec cars boasted higher horsepower than cars built for the American market and were lighter. Only 748 308 GTB/S QV models were produced and they are considered by many to be the most desirable of all the 308 variations as they are the fastest and most subtly styled with a deep front valance, racing mirrors and short lightweight bumpers. A late production car, this lovely Spider is one of just 233 right-hand drive QVs produced and was supplied in July 1985 to HR Owen in London. It's an original factory right-hand drive, matching numbers car in Nero Daytona metallic with Crema hide piped in Nero and was optioned from new with air conditioning, a deep front spoiler and a rear aerofoil. It has now covered just over 60,000mls supported by a comprehensive and detailed service history due in part to the last owner who had the car serviced annually by the Ferrari Centre in Kent for the last 20 years (invoices in the file). The early history is recorded in the original service book which accompanies the other handbooks in its original wallet and there are also copies of the original supply documents from the Maranello Archive. The car had a major service and replacement cam belts plus other maintenance work carried out in December 2018 @ 60,118 miles (currently showing 60,253 miles) and, more recently, has benefitted from new tyres (with all wheels refurbished), some minor cosmetic paintwork and the leather Connolised. It's currently fitted with a high-grade alarm system and uprated Hi-Fi. In superb condition for its age and mileage, this rare RHD, QV Spider has patently been well looked after by all its owners and is a fantastic example of the ultimate evolution of the 308. Beautiful and easy to drive, with excellent reliability, a wonderful sound, handling and overall driving experience (especially with the roof off!), these cars are exceptional value compared to other Ferraris in the market today. In the UK since 1989 and owned by a Jaguar-enthusiast since 1999 Launched in 1954, the Jaguar XK140 was broadly similar to, though more refined than, its XK120 predecessor, major engineering changes being confined to the repositioning of the engine 3-inches further forward and the adoption of rack-and-pinion steering as used on the racing C-Type. The suspension and brakes remained much as before, though with stiffer torsion bars at the front and telescopic shock absorbers replacing the previous lever-type at the rear. Outwardly the newcomer was distinguishable by its revised radiator grille, rear lights incorporating flashing indicators, and larger bumpers - the latter adopted to withstand the cut and thrust of urban parking. The power unit remained Jaguar's well-tried, 3.4-litre, twin-cam six, which now produced 190bhp in standard trim thanks to higher-lift camshafts and revised porting. The car presented here is a 1955 Jaguar XK140 SE 3.4-litre Fixed Head Coupe with a desirable manual gearbox, manufactured on the 25th November 1955 and despatched to acclaimed US Jaguar dealer 'Hornburg of Los Angeles' (established in 1947). Fascinatingly, a much later owner of the car (and the person responsible for overseeing its complete restoration) in the 1990s, a Mr Ralph of Devon, contacted the wife of the original US owner (who in 1955 already owned an earlier XK120), a Mrs Phyllis Hobbs. There are letters in the history file explaining that Mr Hobbs purchased the car new from 'British Motor Sales' in San Diego, California. Mrs Hobbs explains that the car was put in her name (backed up by numerous original Automobile Registration Cards bearing both her name and the car's details from the 1960s & '70s) and sent to her in the Chicago area for a while before both returned to San Diego. In 1960, Mr Hobbs' work took him to Nebraska to supervise the missile bases being built there. The couple moved to Nebraska for two years, dutifully trailering their beloved XK140 with them behind their Oldsmobile! Upon their return to San Diego, the car was repainted red and joined by two E-Types and a Mk4 in the Hobbs' extensive garage! Charmingly, there are also copies of photos of the Hobbs with the XK140. By 1993, the Hobbs had sold all their classic Jaguars, except the XK120. Such priceless provenance! As stated, the car returned to the UK in 1989 as a very complete, matching-numbers example (still with its Black with Red piping interior features). In need of much work, it was bestowed with the most thorough of fully documented restorations, ensuring all major components and panels stayed together. It was converted to RHD and returned to its original colour combination of Pearl Grey paintwork and Black with Red piped interior. Upon completion, the car won numerous Concours events held by Jaguar clubs - known for their exacting standards. In 1999, the XK was purchased by our Jaguar-enthusiast vendor, as he had known Mr Ralph and the quality of the car, and it has formed the basis of a small collection of best-of-breed Jaguars for the last 20 years. Maintained and stored with the utmost of care and attention, this impressive British sportscar is in fine fettle and ready to be enjoyed by a new owner. The Continental R Mulliner was a combination of the 'wide-body' Continental R model with the Continental T's more powerful, 420bhp, engine Only 46 of these remarkable cars were made between 1999 and 2003 at a basic price of £225,000 Special order silver exterior at considerable extra cost. UK-supplied and in private ownership since 2013 Introduced in 1991, the Continental R was the first Bentley in 26 years that did not share its bodywork with a concurrent Rolls-Royce model and was inspired by the very stylish Continental R-Type of the 1950s. The elegant two-door coachwork was styled by John Heffernan and Ken Greenley, a duo whose résumé included sports cars like the Aston Martin Virage. At £175,000, however, this newcomer was one of the world's most expensive cars, although at least it was also one of the fastest. At launch, this latest Continental used the familiar 6.75-litre V8 with a big Garrett turbocharger and an intercooler in the same state of tune as in the Bentley Turbo R. Crewe still declined to provide official power outputs at the time, although it's estimated that around 325bhp was on tap, along with a huge amount of torque. Top speed was governed to 145mph, with 60mph arriving in just 6.6 seconds - all in a car weighing around 2.5 tons, on a 120-inch wheelbase and with an overall length of 17.5 feet! The rest of the Continental R's running gear was also taken from the Turbo R, with fully independent coil-spring suspension (featuring hydropneumatic self-levelling at the rear) and power-hydraulic brakes with ABS, plus variable-assistance power steering. To add to the sporting feel of the newcomer, this was the first Crewe-built automatic-transmission car to have the gear selector in the centre console rather than on the steering column. The selector handle incorporated a Sports button, which would simultaneously quicken the gearbox's reactions and delay upshifts while firming up the suspension. Five years later Bentley introduced a short-wheelbase version dubbed the Continental T that was equipped with an uprated engine developing 420 hp and an impressive 650 foot-pounds of torque available at only 2,200 rpm and it wasn't long before Bentley customers were expressing an interest in equipping the "wide-body" Continental R model with the T's more powerful engine. Shortly afterwards, the Continental R Mulliner was introduced at the 1999 Geneva Salon, its nomenclature paying homage to H.J. Mulliner, the British coachbuilder responsible for the original R-Type's breathtaking fastback bodywork. The R Mulliner's wide-body configuration offered spacious interior elegance restoring the rear legroom lost in the 'T', while the twin-turbocharged V-8 was capable of rocketing the car to a top speed of nearly 170 mph. Individually tailored to customer order, the R Mulliner was Bentley's ultimate 20th-century combination of luxury and performance, produced in a modest quantity of as few as 131 examples. If you plan to use your Bentley to attend Shareholders Meetings and the occasional funeral, this example may not be the car for you and an understated Arnage in respectful Masons Black may be more appropriate, however, if you feel the need to remind the world that 'you have arrived', this striking Continental R Mulliner may well be perfect. Finished in a 'Special Order' Silver enhanced by flared wheel arches, aerodynamic door sills, wing vents and purposeful bumpers, it appears to have been hewn from a block of solid aluminium and finely sculpted by a set-designer from 'Space:1999'. If the car's exterior is rather special then its interior can only be described as dramatic. Bentley offered buyers of the R Mulliner a bit of a free hand when it came to the cars internal specification and, in this case, the car's first owner has created something akin to the control room on 'Moonbase Alpha'. As well as all the traditional Mulliner features including chrome instrument bezels, red starter button and drilled pedals, engined turned-aluminium panels are used extensively on the dashboard and elsewhere in the cockpit and when combined with the single-tone, Mulberry hide used in the bespoke seats, deep-fluted headlining, roll-top and steering wheel, the overall effect is more Lear Jet than passenger car. This example was UK-supplied in right-hand drive (1/46) by P&A Wood during March 2000 and has been in private ownership since 2013 covering a warranted 39,300 miles. The service records show 11 official Bentley Dealer service stamps (most recently by Harwoods in Sussex at 36,486 miles) and during our vendor's ownership the car was entrusted to Frank Dale and Stepsons for minor adjustments, wheel alignment etc and we understand that they felt that it was 'one of the best they had ever seen'. Unique is a word frequently misused but it certainly applies to this 'extrovert' Continental R Mulliner. These desirable models are rightfully stretching their legs in the classic car market, so don't miss out before these rare sporting Bentleys arrive in six-figure territory. J-Series car built in November 1972 and first registered on the 14/01/1973 UK-supplied, right-hand drive, indicating just 58,211 miles (atoc) supported by a detailed history From a private collection and recently subject to a thorough overhaul from "bumper to bumper" Very smart in gleaming Cerise Red with a magnolia leather interior in fine condition Subtly upgraded with modern suspension, stainless exhaust and a Holley carburettor Supplied with a substantial history file including a current MOT, V5c, original handbook, restoration invoices and old photographs Surely one of the most handsome and distinctive sports tourers ever made, the Jensen Interceptor was a fabulous amalgam of Italian style, American muscle and British craftsmanship. Styled by Touring of Milan with some subtle tweaks by Vignale (who also made the first bodies) it was initially powered by a 6,276cc Chrysler V8 driving the rear wheels through a TorqueFlite automatic transmission and had dragster-like performance. A natural rival to the Aston Martin V8, it was equally rare, equally expensive, better made and marginally more potent to boot, making it perhaps the classic car bargain of the modern age. The second generation arrived in 1969 and featured many detail improvements including revised front suspension and brakes, cleaner front end styling and a more modern dashboard. Power was also up slightly to 330bhp and 425lb/ft of torque. Produced between 1971 and 1973, the Interceptor III was the final iteration and represented the pinnacle of Jensen car development. Of the 2,477 Interceptor IIIs produced 1,107 were allocated to RHD markets and we understand that in 2019 just 239 were licenced for road use in the UK. Manufactured in 1972 and first registered on the 14 January 1973, this is a UK supplied, right-hand drive, J-series Interceptor III that has covered a little over 58,000 miles supported by a substantial history file with MOTs dating back to the mid-1970s. Having spent some time looking for the best possible example, our vendor found this car 9-years ago and was impressed by the aforementioned history file and its excellent mechanical condition. He set about an extensive programme of works completing the restoration in 2018 with a high quality 'glass out' bare metal respray in this lovely shade of Cerise. Some sensible upgrades were incorporated into the overhaul including a more modern suspension set up, stainless steel sports exhaust system and a Holley carburettor all working together in unison with the burbling 7.2-litre V8 to provide an exciting and focused driving experience. The Jensen is accompanied by its original handbooks, a wealth of MOTs, invoices for servicing and maintenance over the years, more recent invoices for parts and labour supporting the overhaul and a number of photographs. It's described as 'on the button', presenting and performing very well. Some cars look powerful, some look expensive and a few, a very few, look genuinely beautiful and to achieve all three at once is remarkable. With less than 250 examples believed to have survived in the UK, owning one of these stylish Anglo-American GTs offers access to a rather exclusive club. Launched in 2004, the Vanquish S featured an increase in engine power to 520bhp from 460, revised gear and back axle ratios and a much-improved paddle-shift gear change 1 of only 375, right-hand drive S variants built, this lovely example has covered just 28,300 miles (atoc) A superb combination of Tungsten Silver with Obsidian Black leather and red calipers Very well spec'd with Plus 2 seating, Linn hi-fi, Motorola car phone, and satellite navigation Great history. 11 main dealer stamps, last two at Aston Works Service at Newport Pagnell New discs and tyres plus a full refresh of the underneath three/four years ago Our vendor has generously included cherished registration number VS55 AML in the sale This desirable Aston appears to be guided very sensibly for such a rare car The Vanquish was built in two versions, a two-seater and what became known as the '2+2' with a couple of child-friendly rear seats filling the space that in the two-seater was occupied by a shelf for a golf bag or other luggage. A pleasing blend of up-to-the-minute technology and traditional materials, the interior was dominated by an imposing aluminium centre console extending from fascia to transmission tunnel. Connolly leather upholstery, Wilton carpeting and quilted Alcantara headlining emphasised its Aston Martin heritage for, despite its advanced specification, the Vanquish was built like all other Astons before it, one at a time and by hand. Production ceased in 2007, by which time the model had been upgraded as the Vanquish 'S' and the UK list price had risen to over £185,000. The Vanquish is yet another 'James Bond' Aston Martin, having featured in 'Die Another Day' starring Pierce Brosnan as the eponymous secret agent. The car offered here is an example of the revamped Vanquish 'S' that superseded the original version following its debut at the Paris Auto Show in 2004. Chief upgrade concerned the engine, which now produced 520bhp, an output good enough to whistle the 'S' up to 200mph, a figure only recently exceeded by the Aston 177. The previously optional Sports Dynamic Pack of enhanced steering, suspension and brakes came as standard with the 'S'. It was the last of the line of handbuilt Aston Martins, the last model to be produced at the Newport Pagnell factory and, with only 375 built in right-hand drive, is now a very rare car. At circa £185,000 when new in 2005, exclusivity had its price. Having owned a DB4 for many years, one of the first Aston Martins produced at Newport Parnell, our vendor was keen to bookend his Astons with a Vanquish 'S' the last model to roll out of the factory gates at Newport Pagnell and he commenced a thorough search for the best example he could find. A number of cars were inspected before his search culminated in this lovely example. Its previous owner had intended it to be the centrepiece of a museum in Devon dedicated to "The Best of British", however, in 2013 the plan was changed and a decision was taken to auction the entire collection. Our determined vendor drove 300 miles there and back to test drive the Vanquish which was duly purchased after an active bidding contest. The original auction catalogue is in the history file. Classically finished in Tungsten Silver with Black leather (coincidentally the same as the "Die Another Day" car) it's the practical Plus Two version and was fitted from new with a Linn Hi-Fi, Motorola car phone, Sat-Nav and red brake calipers. Our vendor was particularly attracted by its traceable ownership, being a highly spec'd dealer demonstrator, one family and just two owners together with a full main dealer service history which sealed the deal. An indicated mileage of 23,000 showed that the Aston had seen light regular use and it drove so much better than many much lower mileage examples that he had inspected. Immediately after purchase Vanquish specialists, Bamford Rose, were entrusted with the car with instructions to completely go through it sorting out any niggles and concerns. The Vanquish has been maintained regardless of expense and the most recent couple of services have, reassuringly, been carried out at Aston Works Service. A complete car assessment by Aston Works is included within the large history file. Particular emphasis was placed by the vendor in getting the 'S' driving as it should, which only a few firms can do correctly, particularly the gearbox which has a reputation for being a little recalcitrant, however, this example is now described as "the best he has ever experienced in a Vanquish". The car has just been MOT'd for 12 months (no advisories), was serviced by Aston Works Service less than 150 miles ago and is accompanied by a comprehensive history file. Our vendor has enjoyed the car for a little over 5,000 miles during his ownership, however, with new cars added to his growing collection, the Aston is simply not being used enough and it's time for someone else to experience the pleasure of this delightful, correctly set-up, 520bhp, Vanquish 'S'. UK-supplied, right-hand-drive, indicating just 88,219 miles (atoc), presenting in outstanding condition Gleaming Guards Red paintwork with electric, heated seats recently professionally detailed and protected Substantial maintenance record with recent expenditure of over £10,000 Offered HPI clean with a current MOT Certificate, original Porsche books, tyre inflator and tools A rare, collectable, genuine Turbo S, 1 of 77, on offer from a meticulous private collector This UK-supplied, right-hand-drive Porsche 944 Turbo S is classically finished in Guards Red and was first registered on 1st August 1988. The smart interior is in black leatherette with a black and white, 'pin-stripe' velour and interestingly, the sports seats were deleted in favour of electric, heated comfort seats. Another interesting option on this Turbo S is that the car was ordered with a request for the M44.51 engine as opposed to the M44.52 that would normally have been fitted to this model year, perhaps opting for the earlier unit without the spring-loaded cam-belt tensioner. Today, this special and rare 944 Turbo S presents beautifully with a superb and detailed maintenance record. Indicating just 88,219 miles at the time of cataloguing with just three previous owners, it's clear to see by looking through the substantial history folder that this example has been very well maintained from new. After its purchase in 2017, our fastidious vendor, a Porsche enthusiast, sent the 944 to the local Porsche main dealer in Wolverhampton for a full check over and the subsequent work included fitting the correct M030 sports shock absorbers, a full brake service, a short shift gear lever kit and an uprated gear linkage with a final invoice for £2,700.00. A little later, the car was taken to the Porsche specialist CMS in Telford for further maintenance and this included a new throttle position sensor, cable and fuel pump. To enhance the car's performance, a refurbished KKK turbocharger was fitted along with an ECU update taking the power output up to a claimed 290bhp. To ensure the Porsche presents as well as it performs, it has recently been extensively detailed including a three-stage machine polish with a final application of Gtechniq ceramic coating. As you will see looking through the images and video footage in this listing, this beautiful Turbo S can only be described as outstanding. Offered with its original books including the service record stamped up-to-date, the tool kit, tyre inflator, a substantial folder of invoices, old MOT Certificates, its current MOT valid until January 2021 and other related documents. Only 1,000 examples of the Turbo 'S' were built in total with just 77 in RHD and only a handful in Guards Red so this is a very good opportunity to take ownership of an interesting and rare Porsche from the late 1980s. Revered for excellent handling, these transaxle models are becoming increasingly collectable and difficult to source in such fine condition. The BMW E9 3.0 CSL (Coupe Sport Light) was built as an homologation special to allow the car to be eligible to race in the European Touring Car Championship Unveiled in 1971 at the Geneva Motor show, production ran until 1975 (1,265 cars in total) This 'Batmobile' replica is based on a 1973 E9 CS shell, completed to a very high specification and would cost considerably over £100,000 to replicate Powered by an M30 Alpina B10 unit, mated to a five-speed Getrag dog-leg gearbox Full FIA/HTP roll cage, fuel cell, race seats, 6-point harness, lightweight wings, doors, bonnet and boot, plus full 'Batmobile' rear wing and air scoop Fantastic road/track day car but could also be a very serious racing car with some minor tweaks Cherished registration number 4 BYJ will stay with the car This superbly presented, left-hand drive recreation of the legendary 'Batmobile' is a fantastic road/track day car but has the potential, with a few modifications, to become a competitive historic competition car. Painstakingly created over a five-year period by its previous owner, '4BYJ' is based on a 1973 BMW CS shell prepared with enormous attention to detail and a very high standard of workmanship. The engine is an M30 Alpina B10 unit, overhauled by Fritz's Bits of Somerset and this is mated to a five-speed Getrag dog-leg gearbox. An aluminium boot, bonnet and doors have been fitted, together with Image wheels, a Sideloader LSD, Brembo front brakes, a ducted side exhaust, new windscreen and rubbers, plumbed-in fire extinguisher, ATL fuel cell to FIA standard FT3-1999 (with a Certificate of Conformance valid until 2022), OMP race seat (in compliance with FIA standard 8859-1999), racing harness and a Custom Cages roll cage. Our vendor, a well-known collector and historic racing driver bought the 'Batmobile' from its previous owner, who commissioned the initial build, and has painstakingly gone through this wonderful machine during his ownership and the results are clear to see. Interestingly, going through the history file, there is some correspondence between our vendor and the MSA as to the car's potential eligibility for FIA papers. Our vendor informs us that he's been advised that there are five minor areas that would need to be addressed in order to potentially obtain an FIA HTP. 1. Change the bell housing for the period-correct item. 2. Change the clutch slave cylinder. 3. Change the distributor 4. Change the Brembo calipers for original BMW parts 5. The exhaust should not be recessed into the bodywork and a small section of the floor would need to be returned to manufacturer's spec. Our vendor has preferred to use this fabulous replica for road use during his ownership and he is generously including the cherished private plate '4 BYJ' in the sale. Finished in Chamonix White with the classic 'M Sport' stripes in Process Blue, Purple 268 and Warm Red and sounding fabulous, this fantastic homage to the iconic 'Batmobile' would cost considerably over £100k to replicate today. Accompanied by the aforementioned history file, correspondence with the MSA, along with its UK V5C, Silverstone Auctions are proud to offer this superbly crafted homage to one of the most legendary Touring Cars in BMW's history. For those of us of a certain age, there is a huge amount of appeal in being able to enjoy a serious 'track day' on a Thursday at Silverstone in a gorgeous, well-sorted, E9 'Batmobile' and 'burble up' in the same car at your favourite pub on a Sunday lunchtime. Delightful, early 5-dial dashboard, short wheelbase, 5-speed, four-cylinder 912 Imported from the USA in 2009. Subject to extensive works by Tower Bridge Porsche (£28,000) Further invoices (Strasse, Roger Bray and Renn Sport) take total spend to over £42,000 Full, engine and glass-out respray in Porsche Schwarz 041, new interior, new headlining New floor pans, inner and outer sills, fuel tank and fuel lines, and refurbed alloys Fitted with a rebuilt, period-correct, original 912 engine dated 1967. (original 'matching-numbers' engine block is included in the sale) The question of how to tempt new customers into Porsche ownership has always been problematic. On the one hand, you're trying to uphold the reputation of the company as a purveyor of high-quality, high-performance sports cars whilst on the other, you're anxious not to alienate those potential customers whose budget won't stretch to a new 911. In 1964, Porsche had just such a problem with the sales of their new 911 proving a touch disappointing and continuing demand for the 356, which was scheduled to be phased out, necessitating that the production lines kept rolling. The solution seemed to be financial, and the decision was made to replace the 356 with a four-cylinder, more appropriately priced 911 and, as a result, the 912 (initially 902) was conceived. Like so many Porsche 912s, this particular example was delivered new in left-hand drive to its first owner in the USA during December 1965. Originally finished in Aga Blue with a Beige leatherette interior, the car was ordered with tinted glass and chrome wheel hubs. Some 44 years later in 2009, it was imported to the UK from the US (a copy of a Certificate of Title for Virginia State resides in the history file) and, upon arrival, was subject to extensive works by marque specialists, Tower Bridge Porsche. The work included; stripping of interior and removal of glass, removal of engine and gearbox, replacement floor pans, inner and outer sills, new fuel tank, new fuel lines, replacement headlining, refurbishment of the Fuchs alloys, a full respray in Porsche Schwarz 041 and a new interior featuring Renn Sport houndstooth sports seats and Coco mats. The invoice for this work totalled £28,000 and there are a host of parts invoices from Strasse, Roger Bray and Renn Sport also included in the history file with total spend exceeding £42,000. The car is currently fitted with a rebuilt original, period-correct (1967) 912 engine which was fitted by Strasse in 2013. The 'matching-numbers' engine block is included in the sale but will require a rebuild before it can be married to the car once again. Supplied with a UK V5C, this is a good opportunity to acquire a really smart, 5-dial dashboard, 5-speed, short-wheelbase Porsche 912. Launched in 1972, the latter was intended as competition for Ferrari's top-selling Dino 246 and used a stretched, 3.0-litre, 190bhp version of the four-cam V6 that had debuted in the Citroën SM (the French firm owned Maserati at the time). The unitary construction chassis, all-independent suspension and impeccable handling remained basically as the V8-engined Bora's, though the Merak offered the convenience of '+2' seating in the rear and superior all-round vision thanks to its distinctive rear 'flying buttresses'. Competition from Ferrari's new Dino V8 prompted the introduction of a more powerful and lightweight version - the Merak SS (Tipo AM122/A) with 220bhp engine and revised interior - for 1975, ZF transmission being adopted shortly after. The SS was distinguished by a black grille between the pop-up headlights. A Maserati-designed upper fascia with round instruments and a four-spoke steering wheel replaced the previous SM-derived interior. Later cars (and RHD examples) were bestowed with the full driver-oriented dashboard and three-spoke padded steering wheel from the Bora. Changes made to the SS suspension greatly improved ride comfort over that of the original Merak and the phasing out of the Citroen brakes in favour of a more conventional system addressed some of the criticisms levelled at the earlier version. Widely recognised as one of the finest, if not the finest, of contemporary V6s, the Merak SS engine proved smooth, powerful, and capable of delivering its urge over a surprisingly wide range for such a high-performance engine. Like any true thoroughbred, the Merak possessed handling commensurate with its breath-taking acceleration and 150mph maximum speed. "Performance and handling are the raison d'être of a mid-engined sports car, and the Merak's astounding cornering power is a match for its straight-line punch," observed Motor magazine. The most successful Maserati of its day, the Merak ceased production in 1983 after 1,817 examples had been built, with just 312 of them being the later 'Bora dashboard' SS version. The car presented here is a RHD (denoted by its odd, not even, chassis number) 1984 Maserati Merak SS, a very late ('Bora dashboard') example that was originally supplied new to the UK and first registered here on 18th May 1984. In its original and striking colours of Blu Celeste over Blu Sera, this 'time-warp' example has covered just 16,000 documented miles (26,000 kms) with only four owners. Considered wholly unrestored and in an original state, the panel gaps and bodywork still appear factory-finished, with no signs of corrosion. Likewise, the stylish interior (in an extremely rare cloth type, supposedly only used for a run of 2 weeks due to supply reasons) and engine bay both present in superb unmolested condition and wholly commensurate with the low mileage. It has a full service history (documented in the original service book), as well as a separate file containing a huge number of detailed invoices for work carried out, virtual every MOT Certificate from new and factory supplied equipment and material, including the owner's operating handbook, Maserati parts catalogue, the original duplicate set of keys, original spare wheel (unused) still with factory stickers, jack and original tool kit. Recent work includes the fitting of a new clutch (c £2,000), a complete stainless-steel exhaust system (c £1,500) and c £2,500 spent with renowned Maserati specialists Emblem Sports Cars. A rare opportunity to acquire a low mileage Merak SS possessing impeccable history. Click here for more information This car was consigned by Joe Watts. Superbly finished in Amethyst over Cotswold hide with Indigo piping Burr Elm veneered door panel inserts, rear-quarter vanity mirrors, steering wheel and picnic tables Three keepers and only 21,000 miles. Documented speedometer change at 8,248 miles Powered by the silky-smooth BMW M73 V12 mated to a 5-speed ZF automatic Good service history with main dealers and specialists. Most recent at P & A Wood (09/19) Style, comfort and exclusivity available at less than a quarter of its list price new The Graham Hull-penned Silver Seraph was a clear statement of Rolls-Royce's intention to reclaim the coveted title of the producer of "The Best Car in the World". Following a long gestation period, it was eventually only made for four years, from 1998 to 2002 and replaced the Silver Spur, which ended production in 1997. All Seraphs were hand-built at the factory in Crewe which stopped assembling Rolls-Royce models in 2002 but continued with Bentley. The Seraph was powered by a 5.4-litre, aluminium-alloy, BMW M73 V12 engine making it the first twelve-cylinder Rolls-Royce since the 1939 Phantom III. The transmission was a 5-speed automatic and standard electronics included digital engine management, adaptive ride control, and anti-lock brakes. The car had a base price of £155,175 in the UK at the time and just 1,570 Seraphs slipped quietly out of the Crewe gates during that four-year period. This lovely Seraph is finished in the most remarkable colour of Amethyst. From a distance it appears to be the traditional and respectable Rolls-Royce hue of Midnight Blue almost Black, however, step a little closer and, as the Sun reflects off the substantial flanks of this striking motor car, you are rewarded with a kaleidoscope of colours moving from deep blue through mauve, purple, even red mica, subtle but simply stunning. The sumptuous interior is classic RR and features 'Cotswold' leather seating piped in Indigo, Burr Elm cross-banded veneers, Navy Blue carpet and Lambswool over-rugs throughout. The steering wheel is a work of art with circular Burr Elm veneer and Navy Blue leather and, arguably, is worth the car's asking price on its own. Naturally, these luxurious motor cars are comprehensively equipped but one additional factory option was to have a pop-up screen with a reversing camera which is indeed fitted to this car, however, our vendor has just spent around £5,000 with a marque specialist having the pop-up screen modified to house the most recent, top of the range, Garmin touch-screen Sat Nav with an updated rearview camera as well as front and rear parking sensors. Serviced meticulously throughout its life by Rolls-Royce specialists P&A Wood, the odometer was changed under warranty at just over 8,200 miles, and given the currently displayed mileage, indicates that this car has travelled only 21,000 miles during its 21-year life. The finest motor car in the world? Who knows, but it was the first Rolls built under BMW ownership and is all the better for it. The Seraph, particularly in this spectacular colour combination, makes a statement without saying a word. Letting your heart rule your head has rarely been so rewarding. UK delivered (C-16), right-hand drive, Tiptronic car with a warranted 43,475 miles (atoc) Tastefully specified in Midnight Blue with Marble Grey leather, black soft top and silver alloys Superb history folder and the original book-pack including the service booklet stamped up-to-date most recently by marque specialists In lovely condition with recent expenditure of £5,000 on maintenance and aesthetics Revered modern classic sports car noted for its excellent build quality and sure-footed handling The Porsche (project no.) 968 made its debut in 1991 and was effectively the last gasp for the long-lived 924 line. Originally mooted as the 944 S3, the new number was probably more a result of pressure from the marketing department, but it was right for recessionary Porsche wrestling with struggling sales. Visually, it was the biggest step forward since the launch of the original 944 in 1981, with only the doors, roof and tailgate being carried over from the 944. The new front-end with 928 style pop-up headlamps did bring a touch of modernity. It was powered by an updated version of the 944's straight-four 3.0-litre, now with 237bhp. Changes to the 968's powertrain included the addition of Porsche's, then-new, 'Varioram' variable valve timing system, newly optimised induction and exhaust systems, a dual-mass flywheel, updated engine management electronics and the dual-mode Tiptronic automatic became an option. First registered on the 24/05/1994, this right-hand drive (C-16) UK-supplied Porsche 968 had been very tastefully specified in Midnight Blue with Marble Grey leather. It was optioned from new with a dark blue hood, Tiptronic (automatic) transmission, 17'' Cup-style alloy wheels, the 'Cup' steering wheel and an upgraded stereo system compatible with a modern iPhone. With just three registered keepers to date, it's clear to see that this sparkling 968 has been well looked after over the years. It's in lovely condition and has benefitted from recent expenditure of around £5,000 on maintenance and aesthetics ensuring the little Porsche remains in top form. The indicated mileage of 43,475 is supported by a comprehensive service history and the car is accompanied by its original Porsche book-pack containing the service book/owner's manuals and the tool kit is also present. The MoT is up-to-date and valid until March 2021 with no advisories. As you can see from the video attached to this listing, the electric hood operates as it should and we are informed by our vendor that the car drives as well as it looks. Today, these modern classic sports cars offer superb value for money and, as you would expect from one of the world's most highly regarded sports car manufacturers, the performance matches the excellent build quality. These 968s look as good on the road today as they did when new in the '90s and running costs needn't be painful either with many marque specialists available for routine maintenance. Summer is just around the corner and this Cabriolet is a lovely example in a super colour, with decent history and very sensibly guided. This sparkling example has clearly been very well cared for over the years with many parts having been either replaced or fully reconditioned and has recently benefitted from a full cambelt service at 80,345 miles (current mileage is 81,436), plus a new exhaust manifold heat shield and new hydraulic engine mounts. Our vendor describes the car as being "nice and powerful on boost, well-balanced, precise and comfortable". It's accompanied by an extensive history file documenting regular service intervals in the original maintenance booklet (almost entirely full of Porsche OPC stamps), numerous invoices, an original book-pack with driver's manual, radio instructions manual plus MOT Certificates going back 17 years, helping to verify the mileage. This is a super example of one of the most sought-after Porsches from the 1990s. The 944, the 968 and even the 928 are seeing their values rise in the wake of the '911 explosion' and front-engined Porsches are having the renaissance they richly deserve. Lovely, left-hand drive US-market car imported to the UK in 2009 Comprehensive restoration some years ago in the States and still stunning to this day Superbly finished in White over Velvet Green with a classic Westfalia interior Desirable 'Pop Top' with a 'Rock n' Roll' bed and front seat hammock! Complete with additional awning, electric hook up and USB connect Recent full mechanical overhaul and fresh MOT by 'Type-2 Detectives' Good history file including details from the USA and UK Starting in 1951, Volkswagen offered an officially sanctioned camper conversion for its Type 2 by Westfalia-Werke of Franz Knobel & Sohne in Rheda-Wiedenbruck, Germany. Interiors were panelled in birch plywood and standard equipment included screened jalousie windows, a laminated folding table, storage cabinets, an icebox and electrical hookups. Some models included a sink and pressure water system. A number of fold-out seat arrangements provided sleeping accommodation and optional equipment included a pop-up roof section, awnings and side tents, a chemical toilet, camping equipment, a small map table and even a child's crib in the driver's cab. This, comprehensively restored 1969 VW Westfalia Camper is finished in Velvet Green and White - a 'classic' colour combination evoking memories of years gone by. It was a US resident from new in 1969 until arriving on these shores in 2009 and just prior to import, was the subject of a comprehensive restoration, including bodywork, interior and engine and remains in stunning condition throughout to this day. In 2016, the present owner decided that the mechanical aspects of the camper could do with a refresh and with that in mind presented his pride and joy to the well-respected 'Type 2 Detectives' in Cambridge to work their magic. They carried out a complete mechanical overhaul, including an engine check and tune, full gearbox rebuild, brake overhaul, Bilstein shocks, replacement fuel lines and a complete underbody Waxoyl. Business commitments mean that the vehicle has only been used lightly recently but despite that, it has been regularly serviced and has just passed its MOT with flying colours. All accoutrements are in full working order including the fitted leisure battery, 16A coupler, USB connection and three-pin sockets. The passenger seat also has the addition of a heating element for the partner with a bad back ! Complete with 'pop-top' roof with double bed, rock-n-roll bed and even a front seat hammock! Also included is a desirable camping awning and solar charging panels to make life on the road that little bit easier. Within the history file there are some details of later work in the States from 2003 to 2009, when it arrived here, but no real documentation prior to that. Since arriving in the UK, there is a complete annual MOT trace with its most recent carried out on 27/03/2020 at 54,931 miles and service records covering 2009 to the present day. This genuine, early bay-window bus is in fabulous condition and strikes the perfect balance between 1960's camper-van cool, VW- enthusiast credibility and real-life modern drivability. It's fast enough but not too loud, long-legged and easy to drive, comfortable with good ride quality, and is ready-made fun for all the family. Delivered by Puttocks Mercedes-Benz of Guildford on the 18/04/2000 The SL500's silky-smooth V8 engine is legendary for its subtle performance The main dealer service history corroborates the mileage of some 27,915 miles (atoc) Treated to a comprehensive schedule of detailing works some 100 miles ago Presented to auction with an extensive history file and as one of the finest examples on the market From a long lineage of beautiful Mercedes-Benz SLs, the R129-series was introduced in 1989 and continued the company's tradition of fast and reliable grand touring convertibles. Developed from the earlier R107 500SL, the brand new design was powered by a 5.0-litre V8 engine producing some 302 bhp. The new model also featured an expanding roll-over bar, a fully electric hood, electric seats, mirrors, anti-lock brakes and a multi-link rear axle. A facelift of the R129 was carried out in 1995 which included revisions to the headlights, rear lights and automatic climate control. This particular right-hand drive Mercedes-Benz SL500 is finished in Tourmaline Green Metallic with a Mushroom leather interior and Burr Walnut trim. The first stamp in the service book would suggest that the car was ordered, rather glamorously, through the Mercedes-Benz dealer on the Champs-Elysee, Paris, but delivered through Mercedes Benz Puttocks in Guildford, where it received its first service on 11th April 2000 having covered only 20 miles. This car was ordered with an incredible list of options including a glass roof, Adaptive Damping System (ADS) with Skyhook, Xenon headlights with cleaning equipment, a fire-extinguisher, multi-contour, heated electric seats with memory and pulse functions and an automatically dipping rearview mirror to name but a few. Maintenance duties on this wonderful car have always been carried out at Mercedes-Benz main dealers as seen in the Service Book which now displays a total of 8 stamps and can be found in the car's comprehensive history file along with the related invoices. The black electric roof is in superb condition as is the body-coloured hardtop. Supplied with a fresh MOT until May 2021, four new tyres, a V5C and its complete book pack containing all relevant literature, this very sharp SL500 is now showing some 27,7915 miles, at the time of cataloguing, from new and has had four owners prior to our vendor. This is, without doubt, one of the finest SL500s we have ever offered and we urge you to view the car in person - it does not disappoint. Superbly finished D-Type 'Long Nose' replica based on a Realm kit expertly re-engineered to very high standards Indicating less than 400 miles use (atoc) with invoices supporting a full engine rebuild in 2014 Over £60,000 in receipts from 2010 to date, recording a fully documented build with no expense spared Offered with a V5c (registered as a 1969 Jaguar historic vehicle). Ready to be enjoyed This superb re-creation respectfully and elegantly pays homage to one of the greatest British sports cars of all time Realm Engineering of Honeybourne in Worcestershire has built up a fine reputation over almost four decades for its RAM recreations. In particular, their Jaguar D-Types have benefitted from chassis design input by Reynard Racing resulting in greater strength and ultimately better road-holding. After a three-hour stint behind the wheel of a Realm D-Type, Sir Jack Brabham commented: "That's a damn sight better than the original!" Offered here we have a very handsome Realm Engineering-sourced, D-Type 'Long Nose' replica, registered as a 1969 Jaguar and finished to an incredibly high standard. Documents within the history folder indicate that a previous owner purchased this D-Type replica as a part-complete project in 2010. Not long after his purchase, the partly finished car was delivered to a local Jaguar specialist to be stripped down and fully rebuilt. Eyewateringly-large invoices hide within the car's history folder telling the story of a thorough breakdown and rebuild using, where necessary, many new parts. The complete Sage Green and Apple Green leather interior, carpets and D-Type Dunlop-style wheels were sourced from Realm Engineering and a well-designed stainless steel inlet manifold and exhaust system were also fitted. With most mechanical aspects complete, the car was then sent to a specialist body shop where the bodywork panels were assessed, re-manufactured where necessary and refinished to, what can only be described as, a remarkable standard. Shortly after the project appeared to be near completion, the decision was made to have the engine professionally rebuilt again with detailed invoices on file and, in fact, a quick tally up of the invoices from between 2010 and 2015 suggest a spend of over £64,000! Today, this wonderful D-Type replica presents extremely well and is finished with admirable attention to detail in every area. The history folder is replete with relevant invoices outlining works completed, old MOTs and the current V5c (historic vehicle). This super Jaguar re-creation respectfully and elegantly pays homage to one of the greatest British sports cars of all time. Click here for more information This car was consigned by Steven Keen. Bought new by our vendor's father on 01/08/1973 and has remained in the family since One of just 68 right-hand drive examples of the 6-cylinder engined AM Vantage Used sparingly, this matching numbers car has covered just 20,600 miles (atoc) Since inheriting the car in 2016, our vendor has spent over £48,000 on recommissioning Particular attention was paid to the running gear, electrics, engine and body Full, glass-out, respray in Royal Claret Metallic finished with twin gold pinstripes as original The leather is gently worn - the perfect mix of patinated interior and freshly painted exterior Supplied with handbook, Warranty Certificate, historic bills, recent receipts and mileage guarantee. After Sir David Brown's departure, DBS production continued under new owners Company Developments, the car being re-styled with a two-headlamp front end but mechanically remaining much as before. The 4-litre, six-cylinder model was re-named Vantage, a departure from accepted practice, as the term had hitherto been used to denote the high-performance engine option. With independent front suspension, a De Dion rear axle, power-assisted rack and pinion steering, four-wheel disc brakes and propelled by the Tadek Marek-designed 4.0-litre, 6-cylinder engine, it was a capable and refined 'Grand Tourer' that was reputedly capable of over 140mph. A mere 70 of these six-cylinder Vantages were produced between May 1972 and July 1973 with all but two in right-hand drive. This very special, automatic AM Vantage was registered on the 01/08/1973 having been bought by our vendor's late father. The original Warranty Card and completed pre-sale checklist for the car is undated and has a Mr Berry listed as the customer, so we can only surmise this was a cancelled order, and the supplying dealer was Frank Lazenby Ltd. of Leicester. According to HPI records, there have only been two registered keepers, our vendor's father and our vendor when he inherited it. Delivered in Royal Claret Metallic with a black leather interior, it was maintained by Aston Martin main dealers Reg Vardy Specialist Cars. Interestingly, there is a letter within the history file from Sir Peter Vardy, dated 27/03/1979, valuing the car at £9,000! With a successful business and a young family, the Aston was consequently used sparingly and a Reg Vardy service receipt from 1989 states the mileage at 18,282 miles. Now showing, at the time of cataloguing, an odometer reading of 20,593 miles our vendor, having known the car all of his life, has provided a signed statement confirming the validity of the low mileage. After inheriting the Aston in 2016, marque specialists Aston Workshop of Durham were retained to carry out a programme of recommissioning works, whilst sympathetically retaining the interior patina and originality of this matching numbers car. The list of works is extensive and includes a cylinder head overhaul and conversion to unleaded petrol, fitting of new harness carriers, outer sills and jacking points. The front suspension was overhauled as were the brakes and the electrics were attended to with an upgraded alternator, starter, electronic ignition, and negative earth conversion. The glass-out respray in Royal Claret is complemented by twin gold pinstripes as per the original specification, and new seals and fixings were used in the re-fitting process. Completed in 2017, the investment totalled some £48,000 and the car has covered less than 1,000 miles since. Copy schedules of works can be provided via email prior to the sale. As one of the rarest production Aston Martins ever and offered from single-family ownership with very low mileage, this car is an unrepeatable opportunity and is accompanied by a history file that includes the original book pack, Warranty Certificate and both historical receipts, current invoices and signed vendor guarantee of mileage. Revered 1,588cc engine producing an impressive 108bhp, the Twin Cam could comfortably exceed 110mph, with Dunlop disc brakes all round Just 1,801 Twin Cams were built in the more desirable Roadster configuration In stunning Ash Green paintwork, believed matching-numbers and fully restored using mostly all original parts Accompanied by a (rare) hard-top and a plethora of paperwork, invoices, and photos In splendid condition with very good panel gaps and even retains the rare and correct sill trims Conceived as a replacement for the traditional 'T'-Series MGs and clad in a curvaceous aerodynamic body, plus benefiting from independent suspension and rack and pinion steering, the MGA proved an instant hit, selling 13,000 units in its first full year of production. Immensely popular though it was, the 'A' faced stiff competition from the larger-engined Triumph TR3 and Austin-Healey 100/6. Coaxing more power from the standard engine was becoming increasingly difficult, so development concentrated on a twin-overhead-camshaft cylinder head for the B-Series block. Conceived at Cowley by BMC engineer Gerald Palmer and introduced in 1958, the new 1,588cc engine did not disappoint, producing an impressive 108bhp at 6,700rpm. Considerably faster than the standard MGA, and with a pleasing 'rasp' to the engine note, the Twin Cam could comfortably exceed 110mph, and to cope with the increased performance Dunlop 103/4" disc brakes were fitted all round, and Dunlop centre-lock wheels adopted. MG issued a small pink leaflet entitled 'Getting the best from your MGA Twin Cam' which displayed in large letters, "PLEASE READ BEFORE DRIVING". No doubt this was because the car was being used by owners who did not understand the requirements of, what after all, was a road-going racing car. A high price discouraged sales, however, and the model was dropped after just two years. Production totalled just 2,111 examples, with 1,801 cars being in the more desirable and quintessentially British 'wind-in-your-hair' Roadster configuration. Understandably, today the Twin Cam is one of the most sought-after of post-war MG sports cars. The car presented here is a 1958 MGA Twin Cam Roadster, chassis YD3/996, in attractive Ash Green paintwork with a Biscuit interior and a Black soft-top. Believed to be a matching numbers example (although Abingdon did not bother to keep track of any number other than the VIN/chassis!), it was originally delivered new to the US, as were the majority of Twin Cams. Reassuringly though, our vendor contacted the MGA Register Group, sending them a photo of the engine number tag (photo is also listed here) and they confirmed, having checked their database, there were no duplicates for engine number 16G/U/631, also stating that from a Register perspective, the engine number plate is complete and looks correct for this specific Twin Cam. Furthermore, from a extract of engine numbers the Register Group have on record, they were able to say (in writing) that the engine tags appears original and well within the usual factory variances (i.e. bodies and engines were just picked at will to create cars, so not sequential). The car was repatriated to Lisburn, NI by a Mr Laurence Brush, a real MG aficionado, where, between 1991 and 1995, it underwent a ground-up, fully documented restoration using mostly original parts, including panels (costing c £20,000 with all receipts available). These painstaking efforts were rewarded with a win at a high-profile 'Benson & Hedges' Concours event. It was subsequently sold to a Mr Bryan Field in Southern Ireland, then later to his friend Tom Cooney (who had always admired the car) of near Waterford, who owned it between 2011-2015. Our vendor, a real classic car enthusiast, who also owns a 'big' Healey, bought the car in 2015, driving it all the way back home from near Waterford to the East Midlands, stating ''it just purred all the way home.'' He and his partner have enjoyed the car immensely, using it as intended but only on dry days, and to attend the Goodwood Revival, whilst dressed in full period military attire. The car is accompanied by a (rare) hard-top, matching tonneau cover and a plethora of paperwork, invoices, photos, books, workshop memoranda, a technical/engineering book and numerous MGA books. The little MG is in simply splendid condition, not Concours (but with the potential to be again), with very good panel gaps and even has the rare and correct sill trims, which are often missing. It is said to drive and perform just as a healthy Twin Cam should, always being well-maintained and utilising Evans waterless coolant, and will easily keep up with today's traffic - not bad for a 1958 1.6-litre sportscar! An MGA Twin Cam is highly prized today, especially the Roadster, and one in this sort of condition with such a cherished ownership history, even more so. UK-supplied, right-hand drive, HK500 registered as 4 SPH on 01/12/1960 Partially restored in the USA in 1987. Totally restored in the UK in 1988 by Nigel Cooper Receipts on file for over £100,000 for the restoration. Achieved a UK-record price Driven by Quentin Wilson for the BBC's Top Gear (available on YouTube) Damaged by fire and classed as an insurance write-off (Category D) in 2007 Subsequently auctioned in 2009 and purchased by our vendor as a restoration project The damage is essentially cosmetic and mostly affects the paintwork and windscreen The Grille, Headlights and appropriate wiring are with the car Engine runs well and brake pipes have been renewed so the car starts and stops Founded by Jean Daninos in 1939, Forges et Ateliers de Construction d'Eure-et-Loir (FACEL) originally specialised in the production of aircraft materials before the outbreak of war in 1939. After World War II, Facel distributed car bodies to Panhard, Simca and Ford France. It would not be until 1954 that Facel began to manufacture its own vehicle, the Facel Vega FV, which was unveiled at the Paris Salon in 1954. Crippling legislation immediately after the war made it virtually impossible for luxurious cars to be manufactured in France, but despite this, Jean Daninos was passionate about reigniting the romance of lavishly glamorous French motoring. With no post-war European power unit available that would suitably complement the magnificent luxurious interior and exterior of his new creation, Daninos turned to the 276 cubic inches (4.5-litre) De Soto Firedome V-8. This was a dependable engine, with a 7.5:1 compression ratio and pushrod-operated overhead valves, pushing out 170 horsepower at 4,500 rpm and capable of propelling this imposing piece of French architecture to a top speed of 130mph. Despite the staggering $7,000 asking price at launch, buyers were still flocking to take ownership of Daninos beautiful creation. Later developments saw the introduction, in 1956, of the Facel Vega FVS, further evolving into the all-new HK500 in 1959. Mechanically, the HK500 was very similar to its predecessors. The chassis was designed by Lance Macklin, a tubular frame featuring independent front suspension coils and wishbones, whilst at the rear, a live axle is held in place by longitudinal semi-elliptic springs. The chosen engine to power the next chapter in Facel history was the most famous of them all, the 383 cubic inch V-8, which produced a thundering 360bhp and a claimed top speed of 147mph. Through this outstanding combination of alluring styling and significant power, the Facel Vega HK500 legend was born. Right-hand drive chassis 'HK1 BY4' was supplied new in the UK by Woking Motors Ltd and sold to a Mrs Newman of Danesfield Cottage, Woking, who registered it '4 SPH' on 1st December 1960. Finished in Brunswick Blue with grey interior, the car was recorded as Body No. 770/Engine No. TY7 4731 (6286cc) and was equipped with power steering, automatic transmission and the standard 3.31 rear axle ratio. The Facel's 2nd owner, from February 1965 at 23,000 miles, was Stafford Patents & Holdings Limited, 6 Justice Walk, SW3. Re-registered '7959 PE', it was next owned by one P S Beale, of Burwood Park, Walton-on-Thames and subsequently, in the early 1970s, by a Mr Edwards of Thistleton, Rutland.During the mid-1970s, the car passed through various UK dealers before being shipped to Los Angeles, where it resurfaced in the mid-1980s owned by one Mark Morgan. Morgan traded it to West Coast Facel expert Roger Spaulding, who undertook a partial restoration. The car returned to the UK circa 1988 when Roger Spaulding sold it to Nigel Cooper in London who carried out a more extensive restoration of 'CSK 524' (as it now was) before being sold in superb condition to Ray Barrett of Chiswick, who reputedly paid a UK-record price for an HK500. We understand that during Mr Barrett's ownership the Facel was invited to appear on the BBC's Top Gear. Accompanying invoices issued by Nigel Cooper Restorations, Solent Vintage Engineering and coachbuilder Rod Jolley total over £100,000. Correspondence on file shows that by January 2000, 'CSK 524' was in the ownership of Mr Colin Smith of Whiteshill, Gloucestershire from whom it was purchased by Barry Burnett in 2007. Shortly afterwards, the Facel was damaged by fire and classed as an insurance write-off (Category D). The damage, however, appeared mainly cosmetic and was confined to areas of paintwork, the windscreen and a small part of the headlining. The car continued to run and drive and it was thought that it would take relatively little work to reinstate. The car's owner at the time accepted the insurance payout and they subsequently offered it to auction through Bonhams in 2009, where it was purchased by our vendor. His intention was to restore the Facel but other projects have got in the way and it's time for someone else to consider the project. When fully restored, it will, of course, need to be inspected and approved by the DVLA before a new V5C registration document can be issued and may need to be MOT'd initially (the last MOT was in December 2008). As can be seen from our video, the Facel runs and drives and the body is remarkably straight with only surface rust on the areas where the paint was lost due to the fire. All the aluminium brightwork is good and just needs polishing. The grille and headlights and appropriate wiring are with the car. The current owner was intending to complete the restoration with a bare metal respray, new windscreen, rubbers, carpets and headlining etc. as it's a very good base for a restoration considering it was previously regarded as one of the finest available having been restored by the best in the business (Nigel Cooper, Rod Jolley etc). Adored for its charm and style, the Facel Vega HK500 captivated the hearts of the masses, with numerous celebrities taking ownership of this pinnacle of French elegance. This is a great opportunity to add another chapter to the story of CSK 524. Click here for more information This car was consigned by Harry Whale. Left-hand drive, UK-registered Generation 2 SRT10. One of only 840 produced Finished in its original factory Steel Grey Metallic with Viper Stripes, and a smart two-tone interior 8-litre, V10 producing 450bhp and 465lbft of torque fed through a six-speed, Borg-Warner T-56 manual gearbox Fitted with an uprated stereo system with iPod and Bluetooth connectivity, Cat 1 alarm system, battery conditioner Only 15,700 miles supported by MOTs, its USA service records, a Carfax vehicle history report and the owner's file New rear tyres and a new battery within the last 1,000 miles. Two sets of keys and a fresh MOT prior to the sale Wonderfully politically incorrect, the Dodge Viper was launched in January 1992. A pure American muscle car, it was conceived by Bob Lutz, Tom Gale, Francois Castaing, and Carroll Shelby. Built around a tubular steel backbone chassis equipped with all-round double-wishbone independent suspension, vented disc brakes and power-assisted rack and pinion steering, it did without ABS or a traction control system. Extensively reworked by Lamborghini (another Chrysler subsidiary at the time), its 8-litre, V10 former truck engine gained a new aluminium block and cylinder heads. Early cars were quoted as developing some 400bhp and 465lbft of torque, although these numbers would rise over time (the 2000 car featured here produces just North of 450bhp) and the efforts of all these horses were corralled through a beefy six-speed Borg-Warner T-56 manual gearbox. Clad in lightweight resin transfer-moulded glass fibre body panels, the Targa-roofed RT/10 boasted a 0-60mph time of 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 165mph. Only recently out of production, the Viper has long since attracted a cult following which will only continue to gather pace. This 2000, left-hand drive, UK-registered Dodge Viper Roadster 8-litre, SRT10 is a Generation 2 model and is one of only 840 produced. It's finished in its original factory colour, the evocatively named Steel Grey Metallic with Viper Stripes, and a smart two-tone interior. In addition to the convertible soft-top, there is a colour-coded hardtop (difficult to find now as they were a £6,000 option at the time) and rear exhaust outlets were originally specified. The cars equipment level is too long to list here but it includes an uprated stereo system with iPod and Bluetooth connectivity, a Cat 1 alarm system and a battery conditioner. It's supplied with its American Carfax statement showing that it left Los Angeles having covered only 7,571 miles with its two American owners. Upon arrival in the UK, it was looked after mainly by Falcon Engineering in the North East, where it was meticulously maintained including a full service, transmission service and new rear tyres (less than 1,000 miles ago) before being bought by our vendor in 2017 to add to his own collection. He has since used it little, but it has been serviced and checked over by his company maintenance team within the last eighteen months. Currently on SORN, it will come to the sale freshly valeted and with a new MOT. You may ask yourself if you really need 8-litres of V10, nearly 500 horsepower, tarmac-shredding lumps of torque, and only two seats, and realistically, you probably don't, but then again, they are going up in value and you're only young twice! Black leather steering wheel. Air conditioning. Stereo cassette radio Powered by Land Rover's legendary TD5, five-cylinder diesel engine with 122 horsepower This super example benefits from a recent extensive programme of works and presents in fabulous condition 67,562 miles supported by its history file which includes photographic evidence of refurbishment, service book and all related invoices Over the years there have been a number of 'special edition' Land Rover Defenders released including the 90 SV, Defender 50th, and the Heritage. Possibly the best known special edition was the "Tomb Raider" from 2000 which was created to commemorate Land Rover's role in the first film of that franchise. Designed to look like an off-road expedition vehicle, it was finished in Bonatti Grey metallic paint with special badging and details and came equipped with a roof rack and roof rack support system (looking similar to a roll-cage), additional spotlights, winch, bull-bar, raised air-intake and Pewter Grey 'Boost' alloys wheels. They were available either as a 90 or a 110-inch double cab, with standard Td5 engines. The Defender actually used in the film (now on display at the Motor Heritage Centre, Gaydon) was a highly modified 110 HCPU with a specially fitted and tuned V8 petrol engine and a non-standard interior. Offered here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive Land Rover Defender 'Tomb Raider' edition believed to be one of 250 produced. This particular example has been subject to a recent extensive programme of works to ensure it continues to perform well and help preserve this special edition for the future. We are informed that over £12,000 has been invested in this distinctive vehicle and as a result, it presents in showroom condition and performs exactly as it should. In our vendor's words ''On the road, she is as good as you get with strong turbo performance and the rugged sure-footed handling only a Defender can provide''. Accompanying this exclusive Defender is a history file which includes the original service book, a wealth of related invoices and photographic evidence of the recent overhaul. The MOT is valid until February 2021 and this gleaming example we believe should require nothing more than routine maintenance in the foreseeable future. Having become something of a British institution, production of the 'classic' Defender ended in 2016 after 67 years and almost 2 million units. Ownership of a special edition offers membership to a rather exclusive club and, being one of just 250 units, these 'Tomb Raider' models will continue to have a strong following and consequently remain extremely desirable. Designed to compete against Japanese and Italian 'muscle bikes' in the expanding 'power cruiser' segment, the "V-Rod" makes use of an engine developed jointly with Porsche that, for the first time in Harley history, incorporates overhead cams and liquid cooling. The V-Rod is visually distinctive, easily identified by the 60-degree V-Twin engine, the radiator, and the hydro-formed frame members that support the round-topped air cleaner cover. The Revolution engine is based on the VR-1000 Superbike race programme, co-developed by Harley Davidson's Powertrain Engineering team and Porsche Engineering in Stuttgart, Germany. It is a liquid-cooled, dual overhead cam, internally counterbalanced 60 degree, V-twin engine with a displacement of 60 cubic inches (1,130cc), producing 115 hp (86 kW) at 8,250 rpm at the crank, with a 'red line' of 9000 rpm. it was introduced in the new V-Rod line in 2001 for the 2002 model year, starting with the single VRSCA (V-Twin Racing Street Custom) model and the 2003 models leading to the 100th Anniversary edition. The V-Rod we are offering here is not only a rare 100th Anniversary edition but a truly exceptional example. An original 1600 Mexico correctly finished in Monza Blue with white stripes A combination of the Type 49 body-shell, the 1600cc Kent crossflow, and the 2000E gearbox Clearly restored to the highest standards. Full engine rebuild in 2015 (invoice in file) Bought by our vendor in 2016 and offered from his private collection A very fine example offered at a sensible guide. The Ford Escort Mexico was introduced in November 1970 and was so named because of Ford Motor Company's victory in the World Cup Rally which started in London on 19/04/1970 and finished some 16,000 miles later in Mexico. Originally Ford intended to use Escorts with the Twin Cam or BDA engine, but after some local reconnaissance, it was decided that high speeds and large power outputs were less important than reliability and ease of servicing, and therefore the 'Kent' pushrod engine was used in the Escort shell. It seems likely that Ford already had plans to produce a high-performance Escort to fit in the range between the 1300GT and the Twin Cam/RS1600, but their victory in Mexico provided an ideal platform to launch such a model. The engineers at the newly formed A.V.O (Advanced Vehicles Operations) quickly developed the 'Mexico', marrying the Type 49 bodyshell, as used in the Twin Cam and RS1600, with the 1600cc Kent 'crossflow' engine and 2000E gearbox. So, effectively, the Mexico was basically a re-engined Twin Cam/RS1600. The Mexico became AVO's most successful and numerous of the 'Rally Sport Escorts,' and had a number of advantages on the road, in that it had excellent performance, was easy to maintain, relatively easy to insure, and above all, it was great to drive, something which is still true today. Offered here is an original, UK-supplied 1600 Mexico correctly finished in Monza Blue with White stripes. Purchased by our vendor in 2016, it has remained in his private collection since but he is in the fortunate position of being able to shuffle his collection around every few years and has only used the little blue Ford occasionally. The car has clearly been fully restored to a very high standard and within the history file is an invoice for a full engine rebuild dating from 2015. Also in the file is a communication from the DVLA detailing the car's nine former owners. The Mk1 Escort Mexico remains high on most enthusiast's 'Wish List' and this is a very fine example offered at a sensible guide. Click here for more information This car was consigned by Joe Watts. The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to strict COVID-19 guidelines and full instructions will be given when making your appointment. First registered in the UK on 17th May 1995 in Graphite Mica with Grey Saville hide Dating from 1995, this 4-litre car features 'Celebration' bumpers and a revised interior On offer from an eclectic collection made up of Jaguars, Aston Martins and Bentleys Previous MOTs, service receipts and a signed declaration corroborates the mileage of c17,000 The car will benefit from a fresh MOT and further detailing prior to the sale Conceived as a comfortable and long-legged Grand Routier, rather than an out-and-out sports car like the preceding E-Type, the XJ-S made use of the Jaguar XJ6/XJ12 saloon platform and running gear. Shorter in the wheelbase than its saloon siblings, the XJS debuted as a V12-powered Coupe, with six-cylinder and soft-top versions following in the 1980s. The XJS had a lot to live up to and comparisons to its iconic predecessor are dismissed with today's hindsight as being unfair. Jaguar appears to have been quite long-sighted with their ambitions for the model as nippy, impractical British sports cars were difficult to sell during the 1980s, Aston Martin's V8 coupe catered for the very wealthy and the Lotus Esprit was perceived as the chariot of choice for the nimble-footed Yuppie. The XJS, however, was the perfect car for the successful gentleman of a certain age wanting a stylish, comfortable sports coupe that cut a dash and its general level of comfort and lightness of controls made it particularly popular with women. By the time production ceased in 1996, 115,413 coupes, cabriolets and convertibles had found homes. Jaguar launched a faintly re-styled XJS in 1991 sporting wrap-around rear lights, improved interior, new five-spoke alloy wheels and chrome inserts to the upper part of the bumpers. Two engines were made available, the 6.0-litre V12 and the silky smooth AJ6-derived 4.0-litre. From 1993, the XJS was produced with colour-coded bumpers and these pre-1996 cars are often mistakenly called Celebration models due to being near identical to the final run of the model formally entitled the 'Celebration'. These earlier cars are often described as the 'Facelift 1.5', featuring five-spoke alloys and leather-covered gear selectors but none of the XK8 prototype electrics fitted in the later Celebration cars. This exceptional motor car is finished in Graphite Mica with a Grey Saville hide interior and was first registered on the 17th May 1995. It was delivered in right-hand drive with a kilometre per hour speedometer and it's believed that it was a cancelled overseas order and that Jaguar Cars Ltd was the first keeper. In 2013 Silverstone Auctions sold the car, our vendor at the time having owned it since 1996. The speedometer was documented as being changed at 4,911 kilometres (3,050 miles) for a correct UK unit which was showing 14,620miles at the time of cataloguing or circa 17,000 miles combined. The history file contains previous MOTs detailing the mileage, main dealer service receipts and a signed declaration from a previous owner stating such. The vendor informs us that the paint is original and that the car will be detailed and MOT'd for the sale. The XJS has finally come of age with low mileage and original cars becoming harder to find. With hindsight, it's generally felt that cars from the mid-1990s are the most desirable and we are really pleased, once again, to offer this exceptional example. The uber-cool sports saloon with the cachet of being Europe's first turbocharged production car The fastest BMW then produced with an output of 170bhp, a full 40bhp more than the Tii Only 1,672 examples built, all left-hand drive and very few survive today First imported to the UK on 01/07/1982, this is an original factory car On offer from a private collection, topical, extremely rare and highly collectable The 2002 Turbo was launched at the 1973 Frankfurt Motorshow and was Europe's first turbocharged production car. With an output of 170bhp and 240Nm/ feet of torque, it was the fastest BMW yet produced, lifting that mantle from the superb 2002 Tii.Described by one journalist as "a punch in the kidneys", BMW's new super-saloon quickly earned a reputation for being a bit of a troublemaker. From outraging the German press with 'irresponsible' cosmetics to tempting fate with turbo-lag that was a touch focussing, the 2002 Turbo ultimately rose to cult status.Equipped with a KKK turbocharger and Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection, the engine unit from the base 2002Tii was persuaded to produce around 170bhp, a substantial 40bhp more than the donor car. BMW claimed a 0-60 mph in just 6.9 seconds which was quite remarkable for a small saloon nearly 50 years ago.Only produced in late 1973 and 1974, when production ceased with the arrival of the '70s oil crisis, there were just 1,672 examples built, all left-hand drive, and very few survive today. Replaced in 1975 by the famous '3' series, it was the last car made when BMW was still regarded as a specialist low volume niche manufacturer. The car presented here is an original factory car that was imported to the UK on July the 1st 1982. In 2007, it was offered by respected specialists, Munich Legends, having had the entire underside stripped back to bare metal, repaired and any areas of corrosion treated, before being stone-chip primed. Three owners, later it was exported to Ireland in June 2009, before returning to the UK in 2014. The car appears very original and well cared for and has probably enjoyed some fresh paint at some point in the past but still presents very well today. The history file shows over £4,000 spent in 2007 with Munich Legends, a further £1,400 on servicing and maintenance in 2013/14 and new front discs and pads fitted in 2016. The odometer shows 8,919 kilometres today which we can only presume is a total of 108,919km - which would equate to 67,680 miles. Sold by us previously in 2014, this very special car has formed part of a private collection, being maintained and stored to a high standard and is supplied with a UK V5C and a folder of invoices. In 2018, a BMW 2002 Turbo sold at auction in the USA for an incredible $192,500 illustrating the extraordinary surge in demand for these special cars. This is a rare opportunity to acquire a significant car from BMW's past that is highly collectable and, perhaps more importantly, really good fun to drive. TTU 722H - 1970 Ford Cortina GT Mk2 Series 2 in green - 1598cc - an incredible opportunity to purchase an iconic staple of British motoring history - a Ford Cortina. This GT Mk2 being first registered in January 1970, benefits from a recent light restoration with around five thousand pounds being spent on it in the last few years. A fully useable and drive-able classic, this Cortina comes with all chrome work present, original black interior and even a period racing Cortina steering wheel. Drives exactly as it should, and stops in the same manner. The owner notes it is in honest condition, being very solid and requiring no welding work - but does suffer the usual light rust bubbles and blemishes to the bodywork here and there. Tyres have recently been upgraded at some cost to reconditioned Rostyles and the Goodyear tyres have travelled less than 100 miles. Mechanically good, the engine has recently had a reconditioned fuel pump fitted. The interior whilst original, could do with some sprucing with some stitching having come undone, and the dashboard does suffer some cracking. The bonnet catch also requires replacement. Otherwise this is a well loved and use-able icon of British motoring, which still turns heads wherever it travels. V5C present. Collection from a Bristol location (not our saleroom) and national delivery can be arranged.

1693861 Flight Sergeant JA Wray (Bomb Aimer) of 70 Squadron and 40 Squadron (his raid diaries list him as 70 Squadron, 231 Wing, 205 Group). Appears to have joined in the early 1940's in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserves. MEDAL CARD SAYS AWARDED 39-45 STAR, ITALY STAR, DEFENCE MEDAL (ALSO SEE TUNIC)Uniform: Wray's Uniform is also included, which comprises his 1944 pattern Dress Blouse (size 8) and his forage cap, with late-war issued RAF badge to front. His Bomb Aimer patch present, as well as his medal ribbon bar. A collection of photographs of Wray, his crew and various other views taken during (and after) service - includes a photograph of his crew stood infront of a heavy bomber, photograph of a Wellington in flight (dated 1944), whole photograph of 70 Squadron, ' B Flight - 40 Squadron ', and others. A large scrap book filled with all manner of related documents, all relating to Wray, is also included. Within the album are various official documents, cards and notes from Wray's time in service. Including: National Service cards, Air Crew Acceptance documents, receipts for uniform and expenses, tickets and programmes from entertainment occasions, medal cards, canteen menus, target practise targets, programmes and leaflets, 'Army Welfare News', items from Italy and South Africa, and many other items (likely 200+ items within this album). Also within the collection are two incredible unique ' Lineshoots ' raid diaries by Wray. Spanning two lined notebooks, each and every raid Wray took part in is listed in great detail - including details of his crew, targets and even the aircraft which took part. Each raid is detailed down to its success (or not) and whether any damage was taken, the bomb payload etc. 'Vol I' includes several never-before-seen bomb photographs (taken at the moment of impact by the bomb release camera). Both albums feature a host of period cuttings, German propaganda and other items that relate to the specific raids. Some astonishing content within, which makes for some fascinating and sombre reading. Of note within Vol I (abridged for cataloguing purposes):  'No.1 Operation - Target: Road Between Podgorica-Klopot... Cloud spoiled the day, bombing attack only 11 of 26 saw target sufficiently clear to bomb although one crew claimed a direct hit on a bridge...duration 3hrs 10mins.''No.8 Operation - 15.1.45 - 28 aircraft were off to drop supplies to partisans. Due to cloud obscuring target, only three aircraft were able to locate and drop their containers. All aircraft returned to base...''No.10 Operation - 20.1.45 - Target: Udine Marshalling Yards, North Italy....heavy damage is seen to industrial and rail installations...yards were inactive at time of photography... Casualties: Sgt Wilson's crew...was missing. They ditched...after 3 days were picked up by a navy corvette...broke his leg and wireless operator never got out of plane... C Charlie returned back with engine trouble and...came back because all bombs hung up'(Volume 1 covers operations No.1 to No.19 - largely railway / marshalling yards and roads etc)Vol.II which covers operations No.20 to No.26, and features similar detailed notes on each raid. The final one (No.26) ends with ' This was the last operation of 205 group ' and is dated as being 25.4.45. The diaries alone represent an incredible unique window into the world of a WWII RAF Bomb Aimer / Flight Sergeant in Bomber Command. Fascinating reading, and an important part of WWII history. Also included within the collection is a wealth of paperwork - both official and unofficial relating to Wray, various aircraft documents, training manuals (many marked 'Restricted'), letters to and from Wray (some with censor marks) and various post-war items including various later-issued books with dedicated to Wray, newspaper cuttings, bombing maps and photographs, a raft of Wray's original training notes - including how to use the instruments in an aircraft, how RADAR works etc. Hundreds of documents, letters, notes and booklets. One of the most fascinating collections we have ever come across, and an incredibly important part of history.
