A 1:43rd scale resin model by Pinko No 150 a 1956 FIAT Abarth 500 Bertone. Streamlined body in silver with central cockpit. Mint. See Plate. 2 Note: Powered by a de-bored FIAT 600 engine, one of the first in a series of designs by Carlo Abarth that went on to take many class records over an eleven year period. In June 1956, Abarth drove a 750 with a Bertone designed body at Monza to set a series of records. Travelling 3,743km at an average speed of 96mph, Abarth broke the 24 Hour record. He went on to break the 5,000 km, 10,000 km, 5,000 miles, 48 Hour and 72 Hour records a few days later.
A scarce 1:43rd scale resin Mach One Models No 35 1932 Stapp Jupiter. A long bullet/cylinder shaped streamlined vehicle painted in French racing blue, with large single tailfin, black wire wheels with spare to one side. An unusual looking machine. Mint. See Plate. 2 Note: Perhaps the most improbable record car ever conceived, built on a Voisin car chassis and retaining the original engine, it was claimed by the builder Rene Stapp to feature three 800hp Bristol Jupiter radial aero engines, converted into ‘internal combustion turbines,’. Drive to all four wheels was also claimed to be by ‘electric transmission.’It was demonstrated on the streets of Paris before being taken to the sands of Brittany for testing, where it promptly burst into flames and was completely destroyed.

A 1:43rd scale resin Barnini 1960 FIAT Abarth 1000 Bialbero. Streamlined body with central cockpit in metallic silver with Italian colours to rear of cockpit, ‘ABARTH’ and ‘FIAT’ to front. Mint. See Plate. 2 Note: Fitted with an Abarth twin cam 982cc engine, the 1000 Biabero used many of the design principles employed in construction of Abarth’s earlier record cars. A smaller version of this engine was mounted in a Pininfarina bodied prototype that beat many records and averaged 118mph over two days.
A 1:43rd scale resin Mach One Models 1960 Schmid Orpheus project. Finished in silver, a very distinctive machine with twin outboard hulls with rudders, central streamlined cockpit with a turbine engine behind. Fitted with four large metal disc wheels. Mint See Plate 2 Note: A project designed by PorscheÂ’s chief engineer around a Bristol Orpheus turbine engine mounted in a fairing between twin outboard hulls carrying self-suspending wheels. The intention was to utilise the jet exhaust to drive a paddle turning the rear wheels to achieve a 60/40 split between thrust and wheel power. At the time however, Porsche felt unable to undertake such an elaborate and expensive project. Attempts by Carlo Abarth and Pininfarina to negotiate an agreement whereby they would build and run the car failed, and only a detailed scale model was ever produced.

A rare early cast lead Edwardian style fire hose reel engine by Ernst Plank. An open fire engine in red with seats and real, bell, lights and steering wheel painted in gold. One 70cm long with a two piece body painted in silver, with two American star markings to top, two engines either side with gondola to front with ‘MAR’ trade mark. Two large wheels to front and a small single rubber tail wheel. QGC-GC some damage to propellers and engine pods. Plus the other also 70cm of a similar style and design but with 4 engine pods, one missing, and ‘Mammoth Zeppelin’ to sides. QGC some age wear.
A large heavy duty American Steelcraft metal push-pull along ‘Good Year Zeppelin’ toy. 78cm in length, painted in silver livery with ‘Good Year Zeppelin’ to sides, and ‘Good Year’ flag to aft. With two steel wheels to rear fitted with rubber tyres, small steel nose wheel missing within control cabin. Fitted with 3 engine nacelles – port and starboard amidships and centrally mounted at the stern. Fitted with clicker to make engine sound when pushed along. QGC some surface rusting/scratching overall.

3 Heco tinplate Aeronautical items. A Gloster Gladiator bi-plane. A nicely detailed model featuring radial engine, 3-blade propeller, 2 machine guns under the wings and two mounted on the fuselage. Finished in silver with red, white & blue roundels to wing-tops and a skull & cross bones motif to tail-plane. Together with a Sopwith Camel bi-plane. A similarly detailed model featuring radial engine, twin blade propeller and 3 machine guns. Finished in olive green with red, white & blue roundels to wing-tops and fuselage. Plus an Engine Test and Repair Shed. An impressive model featuring ventilators, opening doors, shelves with cans etc. Supplied with 2 operatives, a partially dismantled plane, wings, tyres, radial engine, steel drums etc. Finished in brown with green doors and light green/brown base. Plus a small quantity of well used Meccano catalogues. And a large clockwork motor with a quantity of gears, chains and other accessories. QGC some age wear overall.
