BUDDY L OUTDOOR TRAIN SET. Buddy L`s classic locomotive and tender produced in the 1930s, the engine itself is a 4-6-2 outline with an 8-wheel tender. For a youth to receive this as a present must have been a thrilling experience. The working side rods and valve gear as this was rolled along must have brought great joy to that child with such a large variety of cars that could be added to the train for years to come. This particular lot contains the engine, tender, boxcar and caboose along with two pieces of straight track. SIZE: Engine & Tender: 42"" l., Boxcar: 21"" l, Caboose: 19"" l. CONDITION: Engine and tender retain original paint with typical wear and a good cleaning would certainly brighten up the paint. Overall very good plus. Caboose and boxcar, enameled in red overall in good condition. As is typical, some deterioration to die cast couplings, but a good solid set. 1-14263
LARGE TURNER DUMP TRUCK. This is the largest of any Turner vehicle produced and perhaps it is quite fair to say that it is massive. Although this pressed steel truck did not utilize pressed steel as heavy as Keystone or Buddy L, it is quite impressive to look at including the extended hood and the C-cab style of the driver`s area. Simplistic and minimal adornments such as radiator cap and simulated headlights add to the charm of this vehicle. A lever on the driver`s side through a scissor mechanism would allow the bed to rise up and dump its load. Formerly owned by Lillian Gottschalk many years ago. There is a certain charm about this truck, somewhat simple when compared to the Buddy L trucks of the same period. SIZE: 30"" l. CONDITION: Overall paint condition is good plus with paint loss to top of engine compartment. Tailgate on bed appears to be an older replacement. However, it is well done and matches the vehicle nicely. 1-13709
MARX CHARLIE MCCARTHY MORTIMER SNERD WIND UP CAR. A wonderful classic comic toy from the 1930s featuring Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd. When the car is wound and activated it races forward with both bobble styled heads bobbing about until the front bumper hits a wall and then its direction is reversed, backing up until it hits another wall and then proceeds forward. The vehicle itself, shall we say is an artist interpretation of a stream lined yellow cab with an extended front engine compartment and gayly lithographed in a variety of colors, stripes, squiggles, etc. The imagination of those who designed the toys during this period was fabulous. Marx gave collectors in future generations wonderful and whimsical toys. Wind up mechanism tested and appears to be in working order. SIZE: 16"" long. CONDITION: Overall condition is very good with litho being bright and shiny. The typical scratched, wear to hood wells most noticeable on left front hood well. 1-14216
MARKLIN O GAUGE 1930s 4-4-0 LOCOMOTIVE & TENDER. A fine electric powered locomotive, E66/12920, with a matching 6 wheel tender. CONDITION: Overall very fine plus original condition. Lacking one small wheel on front truck & center head lamp. Couple of drops of brown paint on left side of engine boiler. 1-14269
EARLY MARKLIN 2 GAUGE AMERICAN OUTLINE LOCOMOTIVE AND TENDER. A fine early hand painted American outline locomotive, 0-4-2, with early style tender with tool box. Typical of the American outline locomotives, a cow catcher, headlamp and bell enhance the overall appeal along with a bevy of levers for reverse or forward, braking, ringing the bell etc. Drive wheels enameled in red with yellow highlighting, locomotive itself is painted black with gold, red and light green highlighting. Engine features early style cast steam chest and a clockwork mechanism. Tender enameled in a dark green coloring with 4 cast iron wheels on the underside. SIZE: 18-1/2"" long. CONDITION: Overall finish, very good plus as is typical alligatoring to painted finish. Slight separation to solder joint at rear of boiler, front of cab but not offensive or overly noticeable. At some point in time a minor repair/reattachment of cow catcher to frame of engine. 1-14017
