The partnership relevant to this dressing case didn't come about until 1842, when William Halstaff went into partnership with Thomas Hannaford and the business became Halstaff & Hannaford. The reason for the different date of the silver and the trade label may be explained by being old stock and then given the new label. They mutually dissolved their partnership in 1858, however, the business continued trading under their name until 1898. In the same year, the name reverted back to Halstaff & Co, and it remained at 228 Regent Street address until its final closure in 1908 and could be considered a good long run.
