West Jr. Whittle informs his correspondent 'I have had great difficulty keeping up with any mail for various reasons - house guests, periods of ill health etc... an attack of bronchitis… a series of dizzy spells… A mini stroke was diagnosed by doctors at Andrews AFB as a possible explanation but I doubt it… I think it inner ear trouble.' Continuing 'I think I have tried to phone you to save writing and had no reply, but can't be certain. My short term memory is rather poor these days - especially during the periods of 'daze'.' Further adding that he will not be able to accept the invitation to visit as, 'We are both becoming allergic to travelling and are already committed to more than we want… Sundry awards and all that.' Concluding 'Interested to hear that Peggy went to Jamaica. I wonder what it's like these days… I owned a house near Montego Bay (above the golf course at the Rose Hall estate). But I gave all that up about '69 and rather burnt my fingers financially.' Accompanied by the original envelope hand addressed by Whittle. EX
