A 3 1/2 inch gauge 0-4-0 side tank locomotive `Shunter`, the copper boiler with fitted sight glass and regulator, chassis with twin outside cylinders, hand rails, steps and fitted hand feed water pump; together with an associated four-wheel wagon; and a pressurised fuel tank suitable for a small stationary engine boiler, (3).
A 1 inch scale `Minnie` traction engine copper boiler, unused and privately tested to 100 p.s.i..; together with a collection of castings, including rear wheel rims and hubs, front wheel rims and hubs, wheel strakes and spokes, flywheel, spur gear, cylinder block and liner, smoke box tube, ring and door, chimney and other items.
An exhibition quality model of an Aveling road roller, built by the late Mr L.O. Gibbs of Hailsham to approximately one inch scale, with hopper cooled single cylinder internal combustion engine, twin disc flywheels, reverse lever, gear lever, steering wheel with side shaft to geared steering, and spring suspension to front roller with gun metal bearings, the fitted canopy with exhaust pipe and fitted front and rear road lamps, complete with a radio control set, 59cm long, 22cm wide, 36cm high.
A 1 inch scale model of an agricultural traction engine, the copper boiler with fitted sight glass and pressure gauge, speed regulator, safety valve, balanced crank, spoked flywheel, ratchet oiler and eccentric driven water pump, with fitted rubber road tyres, painted crimson and black, 44cm long.
An exhibition quality 2 inch scale model of a Foden oil tanker `Anglo American Oil Co. Ltd`, built by Mr G. Horn of Glasgow, with a `Western Steam` silver soldered copper multi-tube boiler, sight glass, pressure gauge, regulator and usual cab fittings, the over-type engine with trunk guides and associated oilers, solid flywheel, ratchet oiler and safety valves, the chassis channel formed with rivetwork, chain drive to back universal axle, cast metal wheels with polished brass hubs and fitted rubber road tyres, the steering wheel with ackerman steering mechanisum, Stephenson`s reverse gear, hand-operated foot brake, leaf springs and brass tank to rear, painted dark green with polished brightwork, 122cm long, 36cm wide. Boiler History: An original Western Steam Model Engineers Boiler Certificate No 588. Test Pressure 220psi. Working pressure 100/110 psi. Signed by R.H.T. Walker, February 1995.
A well engineered 2 inch scale model of the Fowler showman`s engine `Princess`, built from Plastow castings and designs, the compound engine with cylinders of 1 3/8 inch and 2 inch diameter bores, fitted with drain cocks, the copper boiler with water sight glass, pressure gauge, safety valve, shut-off clack and blow-down valves, and Pickering type governor, with rear wheels brakes, cable drum and fairleads, oil lubricators, cross-head guides, Stephenson`s link reverse, eccentric driven feed pump and by-pass, two road speeds and fitted solid flywheel, the chassis with spoked straked wheels, and worm and roller chain steering with side belly tanks, 118cm long. No boiler history available (the model has not been run recently and requires some restoration. The canopy has been removed from the engine.)
An early 20th Century model of a live-steam horizontal mill engine, the disc crank with brass oiler cups, six inch spoked flywheel, eccentric driven water pump and steam valve, cross-head guides, single cylinder with wooden cladding and brass bands, the brass steam valve cover bearing the capital letters `K.B`, the engine painted green with polished brightwork and mounted on metal sole plate fitted to a wooden plinth painted to resemble dressed stonework, 13cm wide, 33cm long.
A Bing tinplate Fordson tractor, grey, with printed engine detail and red wheels, complete with driver, the sides marked `Bing Werke / Germany`, clockwork motor, generally good - fair condition (rear wheels unsecured), 21.5cm long; together with a plough, unmarked, 22cm long (including draw-bar); and a Brimtoy trailer, 18cm long, (3). Provenance: Ex shop stock, Actons of Aldershot, thence by descent.
A pair of bronzed cast metal book ends, with raised portraits of Charles Lindbergh (1902-74), flanked by an aeroplane and an American eagle, titled to the base edges `The Aviator`, the planished backs marked `Cop[y]r[ight] 1928`, 15.5cm high. Note: These were almost certainly produced to commemorate Lindbergh`s non-stop solo flight from Long Island, New York to Paris in the single-engine monoplane `Spirit of St. Louis`, between 20th and 21st May 1927.
A last quarter of the 19th Century Silver Cased Full Hunter Pocket Watch, unsigned, 13926, the frosted and gilt movement with engraved cock and jewelled end stone, to a mono-metallic balance with lever escapement, to a Roman enamel dial with outside minute track, sunk subsidiary seconds and gilt spade hands, in a hinged case with all-over engine turned covers and vacant cartouche, Birmingham 1889, maker’s mark rubbed, width 2 1/8”
A third quarter of the 19th Century Silver Cased Open Face Fob Watch, unsigned, 2645, the frosted and gilt movement with engraved cock, jewelled end stone and mono-metallic balance with dust cover, to an engraved silvered dial with applied gilt gothic Roman numerals and outside track, with blued steel spade hands, and hinged and polished case with engine-turned back cover centred with a vacant cartouche and milled band, London 1863, Maker’s Mark RH with corresponding case number, width 1 5/8”
A late 19th Century French Silver Cased Full Hunter Pocket Watch, Georges Favre Jacot, the 15 jewel engraved movement with bi-metallic cut compensated balance, to a signed Roman and Arabic enamel dial (hairlines and crack), with subsidiary seconds and gilt spade hands, in a hinged case with all-over engraved and engine-turned detail, further signed cuvette and band (repairs) and further marked 875, width 1 7/8”
