WHITTLE FRANK: (1907-1996) English Royal Air Force Officer, inventor of the jet engine. Vintage signed 8 x 6 photograph, the image depicting a Gloster E.28/39 aircraft. Signed (`F Whittle`) in dark fountain pen ink with his name alone to the verso which also bears the signature of Wilfred George Carter (1889-1969, British Engineer, Chief Designer at Gloster 1937-58) and twenty other individuals, presumably aero engineers involved in the design of the jet engine and Gloster aircraft. Three file holes to the top edge of the image, a tear to the lower edge and overall surface creasing, not affecting the signatures. FR The Gloster E.28/39 was the first British jet engined aircraft to fly, 1941.

[HIMMLER HEINRICH]: (1900-1945) Nazi German Politician, Reichsfuhrer of the SS. A heavy silver plate teaspoon, previously part of a set of cutlery belonging to Heinrich Himmler and used by him on his train, the spoon being 5.5” in length and bearing the hallmark of the maker Bruckmann to the reverse, alongside a small locomotive engine and the content mark of 90. Himmler’s runic HH monogram is engraved to the handle. Some tarnishing, about VG The spoon originates from part of a complete set of cutlery belonging to Himmler currently housed in an museum in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
