1959 Jaguar MKI 3.4 M/OD Ex George FormbyMake: JaguarModel: MKIYear: 1959Mileage: 71506VIN: S976920DNConfiguration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: GF2Transmission: manualThis late Jaguar MkI has quite a story attached to it. Its first owner was a certain George Formby, the much-loved entertainer of the 1930s and 1940s most famous for his ukulele playing. He bought the Mist Grey with red leather upholstery 3.4-litre car from Woodhead's Garage in Blackpool during 1959, and transferred his personalised plate, GF2, onto it. Not long afterwards, on August Bank Holiday 1959, George and wife Beryl were driving along the A47 just past King's Lynn, heading for Great Yarmouth where George was appearing at the Windmill Theatre. At East Winch, an Austin A30 turned right while the Jaguar was overtaking, and the two cars collided. The Formbys were taken to hospital in King's Lynn suffering from shock. At the subsequent court case, the A30 driver was found guilty of careless driving, with George paying tribute to the Jaguar's stopping abilities, thanks to it having disc brakes on all four wheels. "I hadn't an earthly chance of avoiding him... it's lucky I have a car with terrific braking power," he said of the Jaguar while giving evidence. However, despite this accolade, it was the end of George's ownership of the MkI. He traded the damaged car in for a new Sherwood Green Jaguar MkIX from Mann Egerton in Norwich. An allowance of £1425 was given for the damaged MkI, which was then repaired and sold on. The Jaguar was subsequently re-registered but taken off the road during 1968. However, after a few decades, it was rescued and reunited with its 'GF 2' numberplate in 2002. Its restoration ran to 2500 hours over a period of six months. The current mileage is shown as 71,506 miles. The car comes with several items of Formby memorabilia including a biography which looks at the East Winch incident in considerable detail, a DVD about George Formby's Norfolk, a pair of sunglasses worn by George in 1949, and George's race card from the Manchester Races Whitsuntide Meeting in May 1958, plus other period items such as a box of Gee's Linctus Pastilles, Ronson lighter accessories, a purse of old coins, and a Jack Powles and Company brochure for Norfolk holiday boat hire. Documents relating to the Jaguar include an owner's handbook for the similar Mk2, as well as a workshop manual for the MkI. Although an older restoration, the Jaguar generally in very good order and is the most sought-after 3.4-litre manual with overdrive variant. The interior is especially nice, with just light patina to the red leather seats and walnut veneer in very fine order throughout. The car will require some attention to the engine to get it running, however. The 'GF 2' numberplate is non-transferable and thus will need to stay with the vehicle.

1974 Jaguar XJ6 4.2 Auto Series IIMake: Jaguar Model: XJ6 Year: 1974Mileage: 26000VIN: 2T5704BWConfiguration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: GPD111NTransmission: automatic This Fern Grey Series II Jaguar XJ6 L 4.2 Automatic, registered in October 1974, has been off the road since 1991. It was bought from a Jaguar collector with its engine removed due to piston damage. A new engine was subsequently fitted, although the original unit is included with the sale. The odometer shows circa 26,000 miles and there has been one previous owner. The paperwork folder is quite extensive. It includes an old V5 document along with the original bill of sale (when the cost was £4913.87, less part exchange on an earlier XJ6) and service and maintenance records and invoices that seem to verify the low mileage. These start from when the car was new and stretch through to when it was taken off the road, with most of them coming from the supplying dealership, Barnard Motors Ltd of Haslemere in Surrey. The Jaguar/British Leyland 'Passport to Service' booklet is stamped up to 18,057 miles in 1979. The only recent bill is from January 2022 for new black and silver numberplates. The vendor believes the Jaguar to be 'very structurally sound with a very nice interior'. Although we have heard this car running briefly, the fuel system requires cleaning out and further recommissioning work before use. As such this Jaguar will not be driven through the auction.
1984 Renault 5 Turbo 2Make: Renault Model: 5 Turbo 2Year: 1984Mileage: 25265VIN: VF1822000E0001181Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: NAL277ETransmission: manualRenault created the 5 Turbo in response to the Lancia's rallying success with the mid-engined Stratos. The high-performance, motorsport-orientated 5 was quite a radical reworking of Renault's small front-wheel drive family runaround, with a mid-mounted 1397 cc fuel-injected and turbocharged engine driving the rear wheels. With 158bhp, it was rather more potent than a standard 5. At the time of its launch, it was the most powerful production French car. After the homologation models, a second run, christened the Turbo 2 was introduced using more stock Renault 5 parts. Despite this, and the Turbo 2 being less expensive, the car had nearly the same levels of performance, with a top speed of 120 mph and 0–62 mph time of 6.9 seconds.
1996 Ferrari F355 GTS ManualMake: Ferrari Model: F355 GTSYear: 1996Mileage: 39000VIN: ZFFXR42C000106708Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: P128KNDTransmission: manualThe nimble and gorgeous Ferrari F355, with mid-mounted 3496cc V8 engine, was produced from May 1994 through to 1999 as a heavily revised 348 with exterior and performance updates. The model came in Berlinetta (fully enclosed), Spider (soft-top), GTS (Targa-style roof) and Challenge (race-prepared) forms. Our vendor's example is a GTS example, registered in December 1996 and one of just 2577 built with removable roof panels. It's finished in Rossa with a Crema interior, and has a MoT valid until November 2022. Six former registered keepers are recorded. The paperwork file for this 39,882-mile car is extensive and well-organised. There are all MoTs from 1996 onwards, which verify the sub-40,000-mile total as genuine. There's tracker subscription information, which any new owner can renew in their name, as well as a confirmation that the vehicle was recalled for the safety replacement of a fuel distribution block. The many bills date from when the car was new and run into the many thousands, with most of them from official Ferrari dealerships or specialists. A full service and new cambelts were fitted in June 2021 at circa 39,800 miles, with the work costing close to £3000. The car has done very few miles since this work was carried out. A couple of magazine articles on the F355 are also in the folder. The car, which is in excellent condition inside and out, will be sold with its original seats and rear panel; one from a Competizione model is currently fitted on the back.
1958 Ford Consul 2.9 V6 MKIIMake: Ford Model: Consul Year: 1958Mileage: 49973VIN: 204E97923Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: NSU294Transmission: manualHaving formed part of a deceased estate, little detail is known about this interesting conversion. Fitted with a 2.9 litre fuel injected Granada engine, mated to a Ford Transit manual gearbox. It is described as being structurally solid but in need of some recommissioning before being used. Comes with V5, assorted MoT's and the original buff log book. 49,973 recorded miles PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR VIDEO PRODUCED 22ND JANUARY BY ACA OF THIS CAR.
1983 Ford Escort RS 1600i Make: Ford Model: Escort RS 1600i Year: 1983Mileage: 47409VIN: WFOBXXGCABDY50166Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: A116MNMTransmission: manualThis example of one of the hotter and rarer MkIII Escorts - just 8659 RS1600is were built - was registered in September 1983. With its fuel-injected 1597cc engine (it was, incidentally, the first Escort variant to receive fuel injection), the RS1600i generated 113bhp. The Escort has (1)47,409 miles recorded on its odometer, with 17 former keepers noted by the V5C. Its last MoT expired in 23 September 2016. Included in the paperwork folder are several invoices dating back to 1998. These include refurbished alloy wheels in 2012 and engine work on the valves and cylinder head in 2014. There are also photos of the Escort's rebuild and renovation - although it's unclear quite when this was - plus a copy of a Fast Ford magazine article on the RS1600i model. MoT certificates are present from 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013, 2014 and 2015, which confirm the current mileage of 147,409. The car presents well, but will obviously require some recommissioning to return to the road. There are some age-related marks to the body, and minor wear apparent on the cloth interior inside, including some bagginess in spots, as is very common on Fords of this era and mileage.
1963 Mercedes W111 220 S Fintail Make: Mercedes Model: 220 S Fintail Year: 1963Mileage: 96422VIN: 11101220096089Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: AAS668Transmission: manualThe W111 range of Mercedes-Benz saloons and coupes from 1959 to 1968 were very smartly-styled machines, soon given the nickname of 'fintails' due to their distinctive rear-end styling. This 220S (with 2195cc six-cylinder overhead-cam engine) example was registered new in the UK during March 1963. Since then, it's covered 96,422 miles according to the odometer. Three former registered keepers are recorded on the V5C. The car was driven 160 miles to the auction with no issues, according to the vendor. Recent work carried out includes a full service including oil filter, spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor and condenser. There's also been a new clutch, battery, and the subframe mounts and all four jacking points underneath have recently been done. The car presents well, albeit with some areas of minor bubbling in places on the body. The interior appears to be original and thus displays some patina. Included in the paperwork folder are the V5C, an Irish registration document dating from 2015 and a 2016 NOVA certificate (as it seems the 220S spent some time in the Republic of Ireland), various Irish documentation, MoT certificates from 2015, 2016 and 2018, and assorted 21st century invoices. These suggest the bumpers were repaired and rechromed in 2013. A full service was carried out in 2017 at 92,121 miles, at a cost of £1590.48. In addition, there's the owner's handbook and a period marketing brochure. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR VIDEO PRODUCED 17TH JANUARY BY ACA OF THIS CAR.
1938 Morgan F-Super 3-Wheeler Make: Morgan Model: F-SuperYear: 1938Mileage: 0VIN: F493Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: Contact AucitoneerTransmission: manualFirst registered in August 1938, by the late 1970s this brightly-finished 1172cc Ford-engined Morgan was reported to be in a poor state. It was completely rebuilt in 1980 and then taken over to Ireland, where it was re-registered in March 1981. The vendor purchased it in 1997, after which it received a full repaint in 2012 and an engine rebuild in 2013. Recent attention has involved new tyres being fitted during 2021. The paperwork includes correspondence with the Morgan Three-Wheeler Club Ltd, which believed (at least in 2009) that this was the very first Morgan to be referred to as an F-Super and was exhibited at shows during 1937 before being sold to a private owner. There are also the Irish registration documents, some photos showing engine work, and a 1985 Morgan Three-Wheeler Club reprint of the owner's handbook. The odometer shows 7350 miles covered. 1973 Jaguar E-Type 2+2 5.3 V12 Series IIIMake: Jaguar Model: E-Type Year: 1973Mileage: 67742VIN: 1S51682Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: MAO261LTransmission: manualBereavement sale. In the same ownership for 22 years. The Heritage Trust certificate that comes with the car records this as an original UK-supplied manual right-hand drive example, in Regency Red with Biscuit interior, being despatched from the factory on the 5 March 1973, destined for Henlys of London. The long-term owner from 2000 had the engine rebuilt around 2001 by Wolf Engineering, shortly after he acquired the car. The gearbox was rebuilt by Dains of Norwich during the last 10 years, and the suspension and steering rack also received attention and, where required, replacement. However, it seems that, during the course of the gentleman's ownership, there was no restoration work carried out. The car was looked after by an acquaintance, who runs a local motorsport business, and also serviced and MoT'd the car. As the owner was a great enthusiast, it was often used for club events, including some speed trials - although, tellingly, if it was raining, another car would be taken so as not to get the Jaguar wet. Reputedly, the car was only used in the dry. The odometer shows 67,742 miles, and the MoT is valid until April 2022. The history folder is huge, with an extensive amount of paperwork. This includes the V5C (which shows nine former registered keepers), MoTs back to 1978 and a huge stack of bills back to the mid-1990s showing many thousands spent. There's also a Series 3 marketing brochure, photos of work done on the Jaguar, the heritage certificate, and booklets, correspondence and guides from events the E-type has attended, assorted club magazines and E-type Register directories from 2001, 2006 and 2011. It seems that pretty much everything relating to this car from around 1995 onwards has been kept. We're told that the car drives extremely well. Being (presumably) an older 20th century restoration, the paintwork does show some signs of age; the bonnet has some paint cracking apparent, while there are marks elsewhere on the body, although overall, it looksvery presentable. The interior is very tidy, with only some patina to the seats, most noticeably the driver's one. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR VIDEO PRODUCED 22ND JANUARY BY ACA OF THIS CAR.
1975 Jensen GTMake: Jensen Model: GTYear: 1975Mileage: 34000VIN: 30031Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: NDM923PTransmission: manualJensen's GT was a sporty estate derivative of the Jensen-Healey convertible, built to capitalise on the then growing trend for performance load-luggers, as popularised by the Reliant Scimitar GTE and Volvo P1800ES. Jensen was ailing at the time of its 1975 launch though, and went into liquidation the year afterwards, resulting in what was an innovative and practical performance machine disappearing too soon. Just 473 were built. This one was registered in December 1975, and has had three owners, according to its V5C, with the last one since 1986. Its odometer reading is just 34,323 miles, which is believed genuine by the vendor. Recent work includes a new fuel pump and cambelt for the Lotus-derived 16-valve 140bhp 1973cc engine. Present in the paperwork file are the current V5C, plus a past one, as as well as a copy of a Motoring News article on the GT from July 1975 and two copies of the Jensen Owners' Club magazine from November/December 2000 and March/April 2006. 1968 Volvo 221 Amazon EstateMake: Volvo Model: 221 Amazon Estate Year: 1968Mileage: 120000VIN: 66288Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: TPB22FTransmission: manualThe Volvo Amazon - although it was only officially called that in Sweden; everywhere else it was known as the 120-series - ran from 1956 to 1970, and helped establish the Scandinavian manufacturer's reputation in Europe and the USA for robust, durable and reliable vehicles. Although saloons were designated as 120s, estate variants were christened 220s. In the case of this car, registered in January 1968, it's a 221 - the first '2' meaning it's an estate, the second '2' also denoting an estate, and the final digit, '1', signifying it has a B18A single-carburettor 1778cc engine. The car has had two owners from new and covered 120,019 miles in total, which can be verified from the history file.

1985 Ford Capri 2.8 Injection Special 28,460 miles from newMake: FordModel: Capri Special Year: 1985Mileage: 28460VIN: WF0CXXGAECEY49977Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: B858XKXTransmission: manualAmong the more desirable of the mainstream Ford Capri models were the MkIIIs fitted with the 2.8-litre V6 'Cologne' engine, which superseded the top-of-the-range 3.0-litre variants in 1982. Despite the reduction in cubic capacity, the horsepower went up - to 158bhp - giving the 2.8 Injection a top speed of 130mph. In 1984, things got better still with the Capri Injection Special. This featured half-leather seating and included a limited slip differential. Externally, there were seven-spoke RS wheels (albeit without the RS logo) and colour-coded grille and headlamp surrounds. The suspension was also upgraded.
1967 AMC Rambler Convertible LHDMake: AMCModel: Rambler Year: 1967Mileage: 80402VIN: A7KA77E135815Configuration: Left Hand DriveRegistration: BVG322ETransmission: automaticThis 1967 AMC Rambler convertible, with 3.8-litre straight-six engine, was a barn-find. It was registered here in the UK in June 1967 and although how long it has been off the road is uncertain, it was put back on the road in early 2021 and given an MoT, which is valid until February 2022. It received new front and rear brakes at the same time, as well as a new distributor cap, rotor cap, plugs and battery. The car runs and drives, the vendor tells us. 80,402 miles are recorded on the odometer, and five former keepers are noted. There is no history beyond the Section 6 new keeper slip of the V5C, MoT history covering only 2020 and HPI record. Six registered owners. 1969 Morgan 4/4 1600Make: Morgan Model: 44655Year: 1969Mileage: 2895VIN: SABTVR03504130085Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: RUO856HTransmission: manualRegistered in November 1969, this Morgan 4/4 Tourer (with Ford 1599cc Kent engine) was last on the road in 2019. However, the vendor tells us that it 'runs and drives with no faults' and that 'everything is working as it should'. The car is further described as 'solid'. The V5C shows two former registered keepers, with the odometer reading 02895 miles. The paperwork file also includes an MoT certificate from 2008. An online check of the car's MoT history stretches back to September 2006, when the car's mileage was recorded as 1953, so over the last 15 years, it has covered under 1000 miles. The mileage beyond this is unwarranted however. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR VIDEO PRODUCED 17TH JANUARY BY ACA OF THIS CAR.
1966 Mercedes W111 250 SE Auto CoupeMake: Mercedes Model: 250 SE CoupeYear: 1969Mileage: 31203VIN: 11102122086735Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: GFX178DTransmission: automatic This 1966 Mercedes 250 SE Coupe has been fitted with the 2.8-litre straight-six engine from a 280 SE of the same era. It is finished in metallic blue with contrasting fawn leather, with its odometer showing 31,203 miles. Although built in 1966, the car was only registered in the UK in May 1969 according to the V5C. Nevertheless, it's an original right-hand drive example, with four-speed automatic transmission. According to information from the vendor - who recently won the car in a competition - the M130 2.8-litre engine was fitted in 2020, after the failure of the original motor. Prior to the vendor, the previous owner had the car for two years and covered around 2000 miles, before selling the car due to ill health. He had purchased the car from the person responsible for its upkeep over a 32-year period. Among its reported previous owners - 10 former keepers are registered on the V5C - are, reputedly, comedian and actor David Walliams and the Fifty Shades of Grey author E L James. From a search online, it seems that Walliams sold it in 2005. The car is overall in very good condition. There is some minor pitting to the chrome, a small scratch to the front left light housing and front end, a small dent in the front bumper and a previously repaired chip to the roof. The 14in Baroque alloy wheels are all in excellent order, with comparatively fresh tyres, although they're not matching. Inside, the fawn leather interior is believed to be original and so show some signs of age; there's a small tear to the passenger seat and some slight sagging to the driver's seat, although the carpets appear in very good order. The wood shows some aging - that on the top of the dash often deteriorates on these cars due to sun magnified by the glass through the windscreen - but is still pretty good. A period radio is fitted. The windscreen wipers apparently require servicing and the dimmer and full-beam switches for the lights are functional but reversed. The most recent service was at 31,100 miles by Henrietta Mews Garage in Bath. The car is now exempt from MoT testing due to its age, but at its last test in April 2018 (at 29,318) it passed with no advisories. The paperwork file includes the current V5C as well as a few past ones. There are also MoT certificates from 2018, 2017, 2015, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002, 2000 and 1999 plus assorted 21st century bills. 1965 Ford Mustang 5.0 V8 Fastback Auto LHD Make: Ford Model: Mustang Fastback Year: 1965Mileage: 25007VIN: 5T09A554701Configuration: Left Hand DriveRegistration: DEY648CTransmission: automatic With production of the Ford Mustang only getting underway in March 1964, this example - built in April 1965 - is a very early Fastback. Most of its life has been spent in the country of its birth, where it was restored to GT specification with GT lights, rear valance, exhaust etc. It was imported from California to the UK in 2016. The engine was upgraded to a rebuilt 302ci (4942cc) V8, with further additions of a limited slip differential, new Autowire wiring harness, disc brakes and power steering. The Burgundy Metallic colour is the original shade, albeit a repaint. A rare set of Shelby aluminium road wheels are on the car. Inside, the interior is in as original condition, albeit with a period-looking digital stereo, new carpets and dash pad. The gearbox was rebuilt at the end of 2021 (at a cost of almost £1000).
1973 Steadman TS100 Auto (Jaguar SS100 Evocation)Make: Steadman Model: TS100Year: 1973Mileage: 0VIN: 2D1324BWConfiguration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: STM995Transmission: automaticThe Steadman TS100 is a hand-built, aluminium-bodied homage to the pre-war SS100 Jaguar. Only 28 examples were factory-built in the late-1980s by Ottercraft Ltd in Hayle, Cornwall, using donor Jaguar and Daimler vehicles. In the case of this one, the basis was a Daimler Sovereign 4.2 registered in August 1973, thus meaning that, despite its 1930s' looks, it has power steering, front disc brakes and a powerful 245bhp XK six-cylinder engine. Although the Steadman was put together in the 1980s, it is tax- and MoT-exempt due to the age of its donor vehicle. That said, there is a current MoT valid until March 2022.
2000 Mercedes CLK 55 AMG Coupe 32,102 miles from new Make: Mercedes Model: CLK55 AMGYear: 2000Mileage: 32102VIN: WDB2083742F143642Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: W344MECTransmission: automatic The first-generation W208/C208 CLK was introduced in 1997, as a range of luxury mid-sized coupes and convertibles. The flagship model was the high-performance CLK 55 AMG, which debuted in 2000 and gave impressive performance thanks to its 342bhp 5.4-litre V8 engine. This silver coupe example, with black leather interior and carbon fibre inserts on the centre console, was registered in June 2000 and has had four former keepers. It has obviously been very well looked after over its 21 years, and is in very good condition inside and out, perfectly in-keeping with something that has only covered just over 32,000 miles (the actual total being 32,102). The spec includes a sat nav and electric sunroof. The paperwork folder includes the current and previous V5Cs and original document wallet, with owner's manual, COMAND audio, telephone and navigation system guide, and service book. This confirms the low mileage and records the last service as having been on the 31 January 2020 at 32,071 miles. However, a March 2021 invoice details a further service in March 2021 at 32,074 miles. There's also a hand-written note about a new fuel pump being fitted in February 2020, due to a blockage. There are also most MoT certificates (the current one expires in March 2022) from 2003 onwards, finally, there's also a copy of an Evo magazine article reviewing the model. A spare key is also included. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR VIDEO PRODUCED BY ACA OF THIS CAR.

At the same time, a convertible version was introduced, something the market (especially in the USA) had been wanting for years. The new convertible two-seater was called the XJ-SC, but wasn't strictly a full convertible, instead having a centre targa-type structure and rear soft-top. It was replaced in 1988 by a full convertible. This Caesium Blue 3.6-litre car was registered in September 1987 and has 118,795 miles recorded on its odometer. The vendor has owned it since 2016, but is now selling as the car is only used for shows. The car, which was fitted with TWR alloy wheels, side-skirts and rear spoiler in 2019, after a full bare metal respray during 2017 and 2018, when it also received a new rear quarter and other bodywork repairs, at a cost of £4000. The Caesium Blue colour - a 2017 Jaguar shade - was applied during the repaint. More recent work has involved a service and air conditioning re-gas in August 2020 at 118,709 miles. 1983 Audi 80 1.8 GL AutoMake: Audi Model: 80 GL Year: 1983Mileage: 137251VIN: 81DA167507Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: A127DNRTransmission: automatic The third generation Audi 80 (known as the B2) was launched in 1978, with its smart, angular body penned by Giorgetto Giugiaro and engine sizes ranging from 1272cc to 2226cc (or 1588cc in diesel form). Most models were front-wheel drive, but a four-wheel drive variant became available in 1983. This brown 1780cc automatic GL saloon was registered in September 1983 and has had three former registered keepers from new. The odometer records 137,251 miles, although this isn't warranted as there is no paperwork beyond the V5C and the current MoT certificate, valid until November 2022. Three former registered keepers are noted on the V5C.
1992 Rover 216 GSi Auto Make: Rover Model: 216 GSiYear: 1992Mileage: 51347VIN: SAXXWYWMJAD594478Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: K848JMATransmission: automatic The R8 generation of Rover's 200 hatchback series was built from 1989 to 1995 and was based on the Honda Concerto. Engine sizes ranged from 1.4 litres to 2.0 litres, with petrol engines from both Rover and Honda, and diesel ones from Peugeot. This is a 216 GSi Auto, registered in August 1992 and fitted with Honda's 1590cc overhead-cam engine of 108bhp. Two former registered keepers are noted on the V5C. The indicated mileage on the odometer is 51,347 miles (albeit not warranted), and the MoT is valid until June 2022. The paperwork includes the V5C plus the original Rover document wallet with owner's handbook and other sundry literature plus the 2021 MoT certificate. The car has obviously been carefully looked after throughout its life, and is excellent condition inside and out, with the issues that often affect these Rovers - such as corrosion around the rear wheel arches, sagging and discoloured bumpers, tatty seats and droopy headlining - all absent on this example. However, thanks to the Minor continuing to be a big success, it was decided instead to transform the forthcoming model into small luxury and performance saloons under the Wolseley and Riley badges. Of the two models, the Riley had the more power, boasting almost 20bhp more than the Wolseley. It managed 68bhp from its twin-carb 1489cc B-Series engine. 1964 Ford Zodiac MK3Make: Ford Model: Zodiac Year: 1964Mileage: 86459VIN: Z64D0088YLConfiguration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: XWG860Transmission: manualThe third generation of Ford's Consul, Zephyr and Zodiac range was a sharply-styled and dramatic-looking design that was very of its era. The Zodiac was the flagship model, with considerably more luxury, a revised window arrangement, lashings of chrome and a 2553cc six-cylinder engine of 109bhp, which was enough to turn this executive cruiser into a genuine 100mph machine. This example was registered in January 1964, with the vendor having owned the car for three years. Recent work includes fitting four new tyres, a fuel pump, regulator, alternator, coil, electronic ignition, reconditioned water pump and the petrol tank repaired. The car has a floor-mounted gearchange, rather than the column-mounted stalk often found on these cars, especially those with a front bench seat. The Zodiac's history includes the V5C, plus the current MoT certificate - valid until November 2022 - and past MoTs from 2019, 2018, 2017 and 1999. The bills include those for the ignition coil, repaired fuel tank, four Maxxis tyres and Powerspark electronic ignition kit (2021), water pump, ignition parts and alternator (2019), but there are no invoices earlier than 2019. The black car, with red leather interior, is in smart condition throughout and shows 86,459 miles on its odometer, although this total isn't warranted. The front wings are glassfibre panels. Four former keepers are noted on the V5C.

1967 Volvo 121 Amazon Estate Make: VolvoModel: Amazon EstateYear: 1967Mileage: 53906VIN: 45858Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: WSV240Transmission: ManualThe Amazon was the car that largely introduced the rest of world beyond Scandinavia to Volvo, selling well across the globe. The model was in production from 1956 to 1970. The Amazon name was unofficial - because a German motorcycle manufacturer had already used the title. So instead, Volvo started using a tri-digit designation instead, beginning with the number one. The nomenclature '121' designated the base model variant with a single carburettor and 66bhp. Estate variants joined the saloons in 1962. This 121 estate was registered in 1967 (although there is an error on the HPI check document which says it was registered in 1954) and is fitted with the 1778cc B18 engine, justifiably renowned for its reliability and durability.

However, by 1992, it had come to the UK, where it was registered in April of that year. Six former registered keepers have been recorded on the V5C since then. The odometer now shows 154,699 miles, although this isn't warranted. The current MoT is valid until December 2022. Included in the history file are the present and some past V5Cs, as well as the current MoT certificate, as well as previous ones from 2013 to 2019. There are a handful of invoices dating from 2012 to 2016. These include a service in April 2016 at 153,463 miles, new tyres in 2012 and 2013, stripped and cleaned brakes in 2018 and a new battery in April 2019, accompanied by more brake work. This two-tone blue and white example was registered in July 1965 and has had 10 former registered keepers according to the V5C. The vendor acquired it 16 years ago. Although largely standard, and still with its 997cc engine, the car has been slightly lowered and now sits on Rostyle wheels rather than the usual steel wheels with hubcaps. The body looks to be in very good order, as does the interior with its blue vinyl upholstery. There is a slight tear along one seam of the front passenger seat though.

It came to the UK in 2006. The current total on the odometer is 73,917 kilometres and two former registered keepers are recorded on the V5C. Among the documentation is the current V5C plus a replacement service book that records the UK services from 2008 to 2021. There are seven stamps in total, from 58,784 miles through to August 2021 at 73,873 miles. The sheaf of bills covers a lot of work and general maintenance done since the Mustang came to the UK. There are also MoT certificates from 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019, which verify the Ford's UK 'mileage' (although the speedometer shows kilometres as well as miles); it was 56,227km at the first test. The car's last MoT expired in January 2020. A test carried out at the start of January 2022 noted 'Anti-lock braking system warning lamp indicates an ABS fault' and 'Parking brake lever has excessive movement indicating incorrect adjustment'. In addition, there's an advisory for 'Nearside front brakes imbalanced; requirements only just met. It would appear that the braking system requires adjustment or repair. Low effort'. Spare keys and the Mustang engine label are also included in the history file. The vendor notes that the car is all original, and is fitted with power seats, an 8.8" Posi differential and stainless steel exhaust.

This example is one of the later vehicles, registered in November 1993, and in high-spec Vogue SE spec with the 3947cc variant of Rover's ubiquitous V8 engine. The odometer reading is 186,439, which is warranted for the last 15 years by the online MoT check. This also shows that, since 2005, the Range Rover has only travelled less than 10,000 miles. The total since 2008 is just over 3000 miles. The current MoT expires on September 2022. Five former keepers are recorded. The V5 is present and other paperwork includes the current MoT certificate, plus ones from 2020 and 2019. The selection of invoices date from 2009 to 2019 and includes body work, a reconditioned automatic gearbox in 2012 (£932), a respray in 2014 (£1700), replacement of all shock absorbers in 2017 (£296) and fuel and ignition system work in 2019. This most recent bill, which also included MoT and, electrical work, plus a new battery, came to £6585.10. An LPG conversion is fitted. There are print-outs of further works done from 2019 to 2021. The vendor notes other major work carried out as: automatic gearbox reconditioned, rear exhaust replaced, inner front wing panels replaced, front swivel joints replaced, new driver and passenger side window winder mechanisms fitted, engine stopper valve and inlet and outlet breathing pipes replaced, repairs to the rear inner wheel arches on both sides, new brake pads fitted, rewired front seats with separate switches, new rotor arm and rebuilt distributor. Jobs still needing to be done are the replacement of the alarm control, and the fitment of a new windscreen wiper switch and rear windscreen wiper. The vendor also advises that a full service should be carried out; although the vehicle has only done 500 miles since its last one, it was done some years ago.

The 1.4S was a comparatively rare model as a halfway house between the family runarounds and the more potent XR2, with a sunroof, driving lamps, and XR2-type bumpers and sports steering wheel. The vendor tells us that the vehicle was off the road for 14 years, in dry storage (which is backed up by the online MoT history), but has had a recent full respray and a fresh engine oil service. Four former registered keepers are recorded by the V5C, which is present. The MoT is valid until June 2022, with the certificate also in the paperwork file. The folder also contains some of the original booklets, albeit not in their Ford wallet. These include the owner's handbook and audio equipment instructions. 1930 AJS Two Seater TourerMake: AJSModel: Two seater TourerYear: 1930Mileage: 4527VIN: A213Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: OG6105Transmission: ManualAlthough best-known as a maker of motorcycles, A J Stevens and Co (AJS) also made wireless sets, commercial vehicles and cars at its Wolverhampton factories. Its first foray into automobiles was as the supplier of coachwork (via its Hayward Motor Bodies subsidiary) for the locally-produced Clyno Nine light car. However, when Clyno collapsed in early 1929, AJS decided to introduce its own vehicle instead. The AJS Nine was similar to the old Clyno, and used a 1018cc sidevalve Coventry Climax engine of 24bhp, mated to a three-speed gearbox. Sales of the car began in August 1930. However, despite many admirable qualities - or possibly because of them - the AJS Nine proved too expensive, and production ended after around 1000 cars when AJS went into liquidation in October 1931. A further 300 were made by Willys-Overland-Crossley however.
1930 Chevrolet PhaetonMake: Chevrolet Model: Phaeton Year: 1930Mileage: 96957VIN: NRR216Y121Configuration: Right Hand DriveRegistration: BF8303Transmission: manualThis 1930 Chevrolet is a very well-travelled car. According to a 2017 inspection by the American Automobile Club of Great Britain, it was built at General Motors' Oshawa plant in Canada for export to Uruguay in right-hand drive Phaeton (touring body) form. As this body style was in decline, only 1713 were produced during 1930, costing $495. The 50bhp 3.2-litre six-cylinder car seems to have stayed in South America until around 1990, when it travelled to Germany. It came to the UK in 2017 and was allocated the numberplate BF8303 by the DVLA in July of that year. The engine number of R2167191 corresponds to a right-hand drive unit, with a casting date of November 1930, so is believed to be the car's original motor. The history folder includes the V5C, some documentation from Uruguay regarding the shipment to Germany, some German paperwork, some British bills, a copy of the dating letter from the American Automobile Club of Great Britain, HRMC correspondence regarding the car's import into the UK and a photocopy of a book chapter chronicling the 1930 Chevrolet Universal AD Series. The recent invoices include four 19in Waymaster WM30 tyres fitted in 2017 (£460.80), a rebuilt brake master cylinder in 2017 (£111.90) and some engine parts during 2020 ($318.50, from the USA). The charming old Chevrolet looks to still be in original and solid, albeit patinated condition. While the speedometer has been disconnected and removed, it is present with the car and records 96,957 miles.

A front windscreen is required. The car apparently starts and runs well, and the engine and gearbox are reported to be good. The car requires an owner who will be able to finish it off. The odometer shows the 'mileage' as 59,426km, although this isn't warranted. The paperwork folder contains the V5C, which shows two previous registered keepers since the car has been in the UK. She'd continue to keep it being, up until now, its only owner. Over the next 38 years, she drove it on an almost daily basis. However, when not in use, 'Min' (as the car was christened) was parked in its own centrally-heated and carpeted garage, while any maintenance was undertaken by a Mini specialist. Even with such care and attention, by 2005, age and use was beginning to take its toll on the car, and Min was renovated, with new sills, repairs to the underneath, a full respray and new headlining. 10 years after this, the engine was taken out and stripped for inspection, but was found to still be in good order. Nevertheless, a new unleaded cylinder head was fitted, along with new standard-sized pistons, big end and crank bearings. The clutch, gasket and oil seals were replaced at the same time, while the carburettor was overhauled, a new water pump installed, and a reconditioned starter motor and alternator fitted. From 1991, when a revamp of the entire range was planned and to coincide with tougher EU emission regulations, the GT received fuel injection in place of the previous carb system. This slightly modified grey example was registered in September 1992, and has had five former keepers since then. The odometer reading is 103,386 miles. This two-tone Vintage Green and grey car with 2457cc engine however, registered in June 1998, dates from the days when the Outback was still badged as a version of the Legacy. The odometer shows a mileage of just 12,052, which can be verified from the history file. The current MoT runs to December 2022, and the car has had two owners from new, including the vendor.
