Cartier: A Rare Tonneau Shaped 18 Carat Gold Wristwatch, signed Cartier, Paris, model: Tonneau, circa 1970, manual wound lever movement, engine turned silvered dial with Roman numerals, tonneau shaped case with back cover secured by four screws to the sides, back cover signed Cartier Paris No 96 XI and numbered ???5224 Made in France, case with French gold eagles head 18 carat mark and convention mark 750, synthetic sapphire cabochon set crown, strap with 18 carat gold deployant clasp27mm by 39mmCase with surface scratches, glass wiuth scratches, strap is worn in parts, strap is split next to the clasp, deployant clasp in our opinion tests as 18 carat gold, original dial finish slightly discoloured but has a nice patina, dial with minor staining marks, hand setting correctly and winding smoothly, movement in going order.

There is some wear to the marks. There is some overall surface scratching, wear and bruising. The surface scratching is noticeable as a softening to the engine-turning. The chain is defective on one side.

The pen is lacking an ink cartridge so has not been tested. There are scuffs and marks overall to the leather case.
A William IV Silver Vinaigrette, by Thomas Shaw, Birmingham, 1833 oblong and with suspension loop, the base and hinged cover engine-turned, the cover with engraved initials, the sides reeded, the cover opens to reveal as gilt interior, the hinged internal grille pierced and engraved with foliage scrolls and flowers54mm wide including suspension loop, 19dwt, 29grPart marked inside base and cover. The marks are generally clear. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There is some bruising to one side of hinge, this is only noticeable from the inside when the vinaigrette is open.
McCabe: An 18 Carat Gold Open Faced Duplex Pocket Watch, signed Jas McCabe, Royal Exchange, London, numbered 18801, 1848, single chain fusee movement signed and numbered, split bimetallic balance, diamond endstone, enamel dial with Roman numerals and signed, seconds dial, case back with engine turning and rib decorated sides, case maker's mark GH and numbered 18801, London gold hallmark for 1848, together with a Yellow Metal Curb Link Watch Chain, (chain links with no marks) 48mm wide Provenance: Dutton Manor, Lancashire Case with surface scratches, back cover engine turning in good condition, dial in good clean condition, hand setting correctly and winding smoothly, movement in going order. Total watch weight 89g. Chain links with no gold marks, in our opinion this chain tests as 12 carat gold, chain weight 46g.
John E Hyde & Sons: An 18 Carat Gold Open Faced Independent Jump Centre Seconds Detached Lever Pocket Watch, signed John E Hyde & Sons, London, circa 1840, two spring barrel movement with a detached lever escapement 25 jewel movement, Breguet type parachute shock protection and compensation curb, enamel dial with Roman numerals, case with floral decorated outer borders, centre seconds start/stop slide in the band, inside back cover with maker's mark CFD and numbered 4072, case stamped K18, cuvette cover signed and numbered 4072, cuvette also engraved around the winding holes with a horse and stag52mm wideCase with surface scratches, case back engine turning is rubbed throughout, start/stop slide in the band to operate centre seconds hand is working, dial centre with a chip and hairline cracks coming from the centre, later minute hand is loose and needs better securing on the central arbor, both movement spring barrels are winding smoothly, balance is swinging, movement in going order, centre seconds hand is moving. Total watch weight 85.2g.
An Elizabeth II Silver and Enamel Compact, by Henry Clifford Davis, Birmingham, 1956 square and with canted corners, the hinged cover with an enamel view of a bucholic landscape within engine-turned border, the base engine-turned, the inside of the hinged cover set with a mirror72mm squareFully marked inside base. The marks are generally clear. There is some minor surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use.
A most appealing silver cased key-wound gentleman's pocket watch having engine-turning to the case back and to the face with contrasting trailing flowering stems in gold, the chapter ring with Roman numerals, the hands being blued. The silver case numbered 4382 has a Chester hallmark for 1875, the maker's mark being F.F.S. for Frederick Francis Sealand of the Waltham Watch Company. The movement numbered 875965 is engraved "Patent Pinion, Amer'n Watch Co., Riverside, Waltham, Mass" and was running satisfactorily at the time of lotting. This handsome 1 5/8" diameter watch is sold with the associated hallmarked silver graduated link chain 14" long, the winding key and a Navy blue protective draw-string bag.

Worksplate THE HUNSLET ENGINE CO LTD LEEDS 175HP No LE 9412 1988. Ex 20 tonne 900mm gauge battery rack adhesion 0-4-0 locomotive running number RA24. Delivered to the Channel Tunnel group and used during the construction of the tunnel. Oval cast brass in lightly cleaned condition measuring 11.5in x 8in. A plate from one of the locomotives that worked on the most significant engineering feat of the 20th Century.
Worksplate YORKSHIRE ENGINE CO LIMITED MEADOW HALL WORKS SHEFFIELD No 2910 1963 ex 0-6-0 Diesel Hydraulic delivered new to the NCB Markham at Duckmanton, then to NCB Westthorpe near Killamarsh, where it carried the number 5 and was later renumbered to DL11. Oval cast brass, face lightly cleaned, measures 11in x 6in.
Works makers plate THE AVONSIDE ENGINE CO LIMITED REBUILT BY 1923 BRISTOL ex 0-6-0ST Avonside works number 1432 1902 which was delivered new to Lime Firms Llandebie Ironworks Pentre Gwenlais Carmarthen and named Eleanor, scrapped in August 1960. Oval cast brass, in face restored condition, measures 10.25in x 6.5in. The worksplate from this locomotive was sold in our November auction Lot 34.
Worksplate YORKSHIRE ENGINE CO LIMITED MEADOW HALL WORKS SHEFFIELD No 2815 1960 ex British Railways Class 02 0-4-0 Diesel Hydraulic D2856 and 02004 in 1974. Allocated new to 27A Bank Hall and withdrawn from Allerton in June 1975 and sold to Redland Roadstone Mountsorrel and scrapped in September 1978. Oval cast brass in as removed condition measuring 11in x 6in. A rare plate from a class of 20 and one of only three to receive a tops number. Note this is the other side to the one we sold in 2021.
Worksplates a pair. YORKSHIRE ENGINE Co LTD MEADOW HALL WORKS No 1047 1910 and YORKSHIRE ENGINE Co LTD MEADOW HALL WORKS No 1102 1911. Oval cast brass both in good lightly cleaned condition, measure 6in x 4in. These do not appear in the list of locomotives built by the company and are possibly from a coal cutter as they made a great deal of machinery for the coal industry. The only locomotive plates of this size on locos are those on ex- GC J11 class which have build dates of 1904-5.
Worksplate THE HUNSLET ENGINE CO LTD LEEDS No 1569 1928. Ex LMS Fowler 3F 0-6-0 Tank locomotive Numbered LMS 16636 and 7553 in 1934. Shipped to Northern Ireland in 1944 for use by the Northern Counties Committee numbered NCC 19 and designated Y class, used on Belfast Harbour Commissioners lines at Belfast docks and withdrawn in 1963 and scrapped. Oval cast brass face lightly restored, measures 11.5in x 8in.
Worksplate THE HUNSLET ENGINE CO LTD LEEDS HE 90HP NO. 6246 1963 together with its WAGONMASTER loco type plate from BORD Na Mona 3ft gauge 0-4-0 No.LM213 of The Irish Peat Railway system. Worksplate measures 8.5in x 5in and Wagonmaster 18in x 2in. Both in as removed condition and mounted for display.
Worksplate HAWTHORNS & CO LEITH ENGINE WORKS No. 138 1856. From a 0-4-0PT numbered No3 delivered new to the Dalmellington Iron Company and was used there for all of its working life, withdrawn upon closure of the Iron company in 1921 and cut up in 1924. One of the earliest UK based industrial worksplates to have survived. Cast brass lightly face restored, measures 31in x 6.25in. Comes with correspondence from the NCB to the late Keith Buckle dated January 1963.

Allocated to Blaydon and 51A Darlington from where it was withdrawn in May 1965 and scrapped at Cohens (South Bank, Middlesbrough)Oval cast brass face restored, measures 11.375in x 8in. A rare plate as not many makers plates survive from J94's.
Worksplate AVONSIDE ENGINE CO LTD BRISTOL BUILT 1926 ENGINE No 1992 ex Great Western Railway Collet 1101 class 0-4-0 T numbered 1106. Built for use in Swansea Docks and allocated to 87C Danygraig from where it was withdrawn in January 1960 and scrapped. Oval cast brass curved to fit the cab roof, in lightly face restored condition, measures 10.75in x 6.5in. A rare plate from a class of 6.

Live Steam, a 3/4″ scale Burrell Agricultural Traction Engine, green and black livery, solid flywheel, in need of light restoration, 39 x 21 x 19cm. Provenance; built c.1950/1955 by Alan Hopkinson, and his grandfather, of Newark, then by descent. They also built a larger example, two period photographs are with this lot.
Victorian set of two silver salt cellars of shell form, with matching salt spoons, cased (Birmingham 1894 - 'CBS' makers mark); together with an Edwardian silver pill box with engine turned decoration (Birmingham 1909), and a Victorian pair of silver fiddle pattern sugar tongs (approx 14cm long)
