In recent times the SR500 has become extremely popular with both customizers and to the retro scene where they have become converted to cafe racers, bobbers or street scramblers. This is from the first year of production with the vendor, an engineer, having owned it since 1990. The Yamaha has been used enthusiastically as a commuter bike but in recent times it has seen a more pampered life. The vendor has restored and maintained the motorcycle as necessary. The engine has been replaced (original retained), many fastenings have been changed to stainless steel over the years, the rear shocks have been replaced with Hagon items and the wheels are alloy with stainless steel spokes. The Yahama will be offered with numerous spares including the original engine, another engine, petrol tank, new old stock rear mudguard and a history file.
