A good late 19th century French bronze, gilt bronze and marble mantel clock the 4 inch (engine turned steel) dial with twin winding apertures, housed within a bronze figure of a Grecian maiden with a bow lent on a tree stump with attendant greyhound, the twin train 8 day barrel movement striking on a bell, the whole on a stepped marble plinth with stiff leaf acanthus mounts and ornate scroll feet 58cm wide, 74cm high
A late Victorian silver hot water pot, London 1905, Turner Bradbury, 15.4 oz, 24 cm high, a George V silver four division toast rack, Chester 1917, an Indian white metal cigarette case, a nine carat gold cigar piercer with engine turned decoration, a German white metal and gilt 12 piece knife and fork set in fitted case, marked 800 Solingen, a silver plated breakfast dish and cover, a Sheffield plate biscuit tin, cast in relief with fox hunting scenes, (a/f), an oval silver plated gallery tray and other assorted silver plate, (a lot).
George Walker fl.18th/early 19th century- "The Costumes of Yorkshire, Illustrated by a Series of Forty Engravings...."; printed by T Bensley for Longman Hurst, Rees Orme and Brown, London 1814, book containing forty hand coloured etchings with aquatint by Daniel Havell b.1785 and Robert Havell I 1769-1832, published by Robinson & Sons, Leeds, Sept 1st 1813, to include "The Horse Dealer, The Collier, Thirty Third Regiment, Grenadier, or the First West York Millitia, Wensley Dale Knitters, Jockies" and others, with table of contents, plates and text, lacking title page and boards otherwise all plates in generally good condition with rich bright colouring, 35x25cm., (40), (book), (as issued). Note: Plate number three "The Collier" is held to be the first printed depiction of a steam locomotive. Built by Murray & Blenkinsop, Leeds, 1812, two years before Stephenson's engine and ran until 1833.
Pens/Pencils: a column type combined dip pen and pencil, a column pencil, a 9ct gold column type pencil and dip pen combined, a small gilt reeded pencil by Mordan, a miniscule gilt pencil with turquoise enamelled beads, an engine turned gilt dip pen, an unmarked dip pen in the form of a quill and a reeded, gilt dip pen (reversible) inscribed 'Mrs Hutchison, 12 Kensington Gardens Terrace'. Vulliamy, London. An 18ct gold open faced watch, the signed movement marked 'N.ioam' with plain steel balance and duplex escapement, the signed, engine turned gold dial with offset chapter, the case signed on the cuvette and hallmarked for London 1820. 39mm diameter. In an associated leather case.
Fatton, Žlve de Breguet, London. A good 18ct gold quarter repeating watch, the gilt movement jewelled to the centre with underhung ruby cylinder escapement, plain three-arm balance, parachute and compensation curb, the signed enamel dial with Arabic numerals and subsidiary seconds at '4', the signed cuvette numbered '21', the engine turned case marked for London 1815 with casemaker's mark 'FH' with piston-repeat button in the bow. 55mm diameter.
A Fabulous Porcelain & Gilt Bronze Clock Set. The lyre shaped clock surmounted by crossed flambeau & quiver encompassed by a floral wreath festooned with chains of laurel leaves & beading. The gilt mounts strikingly displayed against the rich deep blue glaze of the porcelain. The gridiron pendulum having a ring of paste brilliants encircling the painted enamel dial with gilt lyre-shaped hands and fleur-de-lys pointers. The oval pedestal raised on engine turned feet, 20 ins (51 cms) in height. The garnitures in the form of urns swagged with garlands from rams head mounts raised on three hoofed monopods. The urns issuing a mass of scrolling gilt rose branches with candle cups amongst the buds, blooms and foliage, 17½ ins (44 cms) in height.
A Schuco 6080 Elektro Fire Engine, boxed 1950s, battery operated tinplate fire engine with extending ladder and working steering via remote control, complete with all of the original accessories, including three composition firemen which are strung onto a card stand, contained in the original red card box. Length 11.5in. (29cm.) with ladder closed
A Continental silver and enamel handled rosewood walking cane, circa 1910, possibly Russian, the tapered cylindrical handle enamelled with a pink band within mauve borders on an engine turned wavy ground, overlaid in silver with a pierced design of interlinked circles, ribbon tied foliate arches, ovals and scrolls, the terminal cap inscribed 'Brigg, 6 Alexandra Court, Queens Gate', length approx 92cm.
