A water cooled diesel engine powered model cruiser: approx 37” long and 11.5” beam, sheet ply clad on ply framing with wood stringers, removeable cabin unit over almost full length deck well for access to engine (and other equipment not fitted) with central raised wheelhouse with 2 sliding doors, throttle and rudder linkage and fuel tank fitted. Finished in light green with varnished deck, deckhouse sides walings and rubbing stroke and on carry crade. QGC, requires some sensitive restoration and cleaning
An interesting stationary live steam plant: the original build commenced with the vendor’s late father circa 1870. The plant comprises a Stuart beam engine, 1” bore 2” stroke, a late example dating from the 1980s. A small brass Stuart vertical engine 3/4” bore by 1”stroke, and a horizontal scratch built engine 1” bore by 1.5” stroke. All with eccentric drive valve gear. The brass engine we understand powered a model Destroyer during the 1930s. The large coal fixed boiler constructed of mild steel, case double lined around coal fire with central valves and pressure gauge mounted to top. Hinged five door to front with detachable fluted top chimney. Boiler fed by cylindrical water tank via a hand pump (connection missing). Stem is returned to flue via a spherical expansion tank. The whole mounted on a 8” x 24” wooden base, covered in sheets of brass and stainless steel. Together with a small selection of spares. Appears to be in GWO and condition. Sold as a collector’s item only. Will require a boiler certificate prior to firing
