Porsche's intended replacement for the 911 may not have achieved that particular goal, but it wasn't from a lack of performance or technological wizardry. An alloy V8 was attached to a rear-mounted gearbox and the galvanised body had aluminium doors and bonnet. The 928 was launched to a fanfare and surprised many by being named ‘European Car of the Year’. Critics immediately recognised the advances inherent in the 928 over the 911 and the car was universally praised as one of the greatest 'GT' cars of all time. It handled well, was quick, comfortable and looked fantastic. With the 928, Porsche created a serious long-distance grand-touring car that could also tackle twisting B-roads with ease, thanks to super-direct steering, 50/50 weight distribution and a clever Weissach rear axle that kept the car firmly planted. Many road testers found that their nerve ran out long before the 928's grip. Styling was the same in both 1978 and 1979, with the body lacking both front and rear spoilers. The distinctive rounded rear end without a spoiler is an unmistakable distinguishing feature of the early 928 and is now considered the purest example of the design. This early example of this now very retro design of the iconic Porsche 928 is presented in red with tan/black checkered interior. It was purchased by the previous owner in 1990 and used sparingly whilst in his ownership. Its mighty 4500cc V8 engine is mated to an automatic gearbox which always provided plenty of power when needed and with a superb driving position, Porsche thus created the ultimate executive sports coupé. The car comes with its driver’s manual, original maintenance records which go as far back as 1979. We are informed that there appears to be a small leak in the power steering hose, which was an advisory when it last had an MoT test. The odometer reading is currently 91,302 but within the paperwork, one can see that there appears to be discrepancy in this recorded mileage, with no explanation. A great opportunity to purchase one of Porsche’s greatest models and being offered with no reserve, this provides the option to purchase at a fraction of its original selling price back in 1979. The car has not been used regularly for a while and we would recommend some recommissioning which would be necessary. Consigned by James Good. The 1997 Jaguar XK8 is a luxury grand tourer that was introduced as a replacement for the outgoing XJS model and was the first car to feature Jaguar's all-new AJ-V8 engine. The XK8 was available in both coupé and convertible body styles, both of which were praised for their sleek and timeless design. Under the hood, the XK8 was powered by a 4.0 litre V8 engine that produced 290 horsepower and 290 lb-ft of torque. The engine was paired with a five-speed automatic transmission that delivered smooth and seamless shifts. This powerful combination allowed the XK8 to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 6.7 seconds. This stylish convertible version of the XK8 presents well in the classic Jaguar colour combination of Marine Blue with an oatmeal classic interior which benefits from a wood and leather steering wheel, wooden gear knob, automatic climate control, power adjustable seats and alloy wheels. Volvo debuted the first generation C70 at the 1996 Paris Motor Show and introduced it in Europe as a 1997 model, a year later as a 1998 model in North America. A 2.0 litre, a low-pressure turbo 2.4 litre and a high-pressure turbo 2.0 and 2.3 litre, five-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine was offered with manual and automatic transmissions. Ian Callum designed the exterior and the C70 broke Volvo's decades-long styling tradition of boxy, rectilinear designs and was Volvo's first luxury coupé since the 780. According to a tongue-in-check remark made by Peter Horbury, Volvo's design chief from 1991 to 2002, with the C70, Volvo "kept the toy, and threw away the box!" and "Our vision was to design a convertible that would meet the needs of a family of four looking for comfortable blue-sky motoring in a vehicle also providing stylish looks, performance and faultless driving and road-holding."This stunning silver example with the 2.4 litre turbo engine and automatic gearbox is completed by sporty yet comfortable leather seats and blue hood. Boasting an incredible 5,000 miles from new, this example has had one owner (plus dealer) from new and has remained garaged with the wheels on carpet whenever not one the road. Cared for with amazing attention, this is a time warp example and boasts a comprehensive service history and MoT test certificate valid until February 2026. • Three owners from new• Fully restored and featuring TR5 engineThe Triumph TR6 was manufactured for seven years from 1969 and by the time production came to an end in July 1976, it was the best-seller of the TR range. The bodywork closely resembled that of the previous model, the Triumph TR5, but the front and rear were squared off and all TR6s featured inline six-cylinder engines. For the US market, the engine was fitted with carburettors whilst, for other world markets including the UK, the TR6 was fitted with fuel-injection. It featured a four-speed manual gearbox, independent rear suspension, rack and pinion steering, 15" wheels and tyres, pile carpet on the floors and boot, bucket seats and a full complement of instruments. In total 94,619 TR6’s were built of which 86,249 were sold overseas and only 8,370 were sold in the UK.This lovely example of a UK right hand drive home market TR6 with factory overdrive is presented in Triumph Royal Blue with a contrasting red leather trim and red soft top. Our vendor has owned the car since 2002 having purchased it from the second owner, he then had the car restored in 2009. Upon purchasing, the previous owner informed our vendor that he used to have a TR5 and a TR6 but had written off the TR5, he decided to keep the engine from the TR5 as it performed so well and put it in the TR6. The TR5 engine (CP908E) remains in 901 DPH today and has covered just 22,071 miles since restoration. Recent works include an overdrive and gearbox rebuild in 2023 and the car in our vendors 23 years ownership has always been garaged.Unsurprisingly, being only a three-owner car, there is a very good history file including Heritage Certificate which alludes to the number 901 DPH having been with the car from new, it also shows the car was originally Saffron Yellow before our vendor decided to change the colour during the restoration to a striking Triumph Royal Blue with red combination. Our vendor states it is absolute joy to drive with the overdrive performing as it should but due to a property purchase the car needs to find a new home. Low ownership, fully restored with the desirable TR5 engine combined with overdrive gearbox, this handsome TR6 would be a joy to own this summer and for many to come. The 944 was to feature new styling based upon the Le Mans styled Porsche 924 Carrera GT, along with a brand-new Porsche-designed and developed 2.5 litre, four-cylinder engine. Sales of the 168bhp coupé went through the roof with a massive 26,800 Porsche 944s being produced by the end of 1982. To put this figure into context, the entire Porsche company made just 28,000 cars in 1981. The new Porsche owners were attracted by the stunning looks and presence of the model and in 1985, the 'Lux' coupé arrived with a completely new interior design dominated by a smooth, sweeping oval dashboard. This severed all ties with the 924 and completed the move upmarket for the 944. The dash provided improved ergonomics for the instruments with all useful components and buttons placed close at hand. Presented in black with cream leather trim, this 944 sitting on iconic Pepperpot alloy wheels was first registered on 18th March 1987. Our vendor purchased the car in 2023 as her first foray into classic car ownership and has enjoyed every minute. Specified from new with an automatic gearbox, this is an ideal entry into such ownership with the advantage of a Porsche badge. Inside the cabin we find cream leather seats which lighten the mood alongside a modern Apple CarPlay stereo. Mechanically the car has been looked after regardless of cost in our vendors tenure, for peace of mind, when purchased it was fully serviced and fitted with a cambelt kit and water pump with a bill of over £4,000. Low milageDesirable colour combinationFrom a private collection The Bentley Continental GT was the first car released by Volkswagen AG after their acquisition of the company in 1998 and was unveiled at the 2003 Geneva Motor Show, followed by Le Mans, Goodwood Festival of Speed and the annual Bentley Drivers Club meeting at Silverstone. The car differed significantly from the previous Continental R and T models in terms of its concept; although much of the car is hand-assembled, this Bentley is made in significantly larger numbers than previously. As a result, the price at launch was substantially less than the Continental R, thus exposing the car to a much wider and new customer base as a more affordable car. A Continental GTC is equipped with a 6.0 litre, twin-turbocharged W12 engine and produces 603bhp with an impressive top speed of 202mph. Torsen-based permanent four-wheel drive is standard. Registered new in 2007, the Continental GTC on offer here presents beautifully in blue coachwork over a cream leather interior. Supplied new with many desirable options this Bentley is not to be missed and comes completed with a history file including many old MoT records, service history, maintenance bills and its V5 registration document. Offered directly from a private collection, this example has covered a mere 18,500 miles from new and has just three former keepers! We are sure it will be huge amounts of fun in the coming summer months. These fantastic Bentley Continentals offer huge amounts of value and driving pleasure all derived from that incredible 603bhp W12 engine. Interested parties should note that following a successful sale the current private registration plate shown is to be retained by the vendor and a new, age-related registration issued instead. Very originalFitted with the desirable 3.4 litre engineManual with overdrive gearboxLaunched in 1955, the Mk. I extended Jaguar's domination of the high-performance car market in Britain, slotting neatly into the Coventry firm's range alongside the big Mk. VII saloon and the XK140 sportscar. The medium size newcomer broke new ground for Jaguar, being its first model to employ unitary construction of the chassis/body. Jaguar's engineers were understandably cautious in their approach, making the bodyshell stronger than in fact it needed to be and employing rubber mountings just about everywhere to insulate occupants from vibration and noise. The Mk. I was released with a new, short stroke, 2.4 litre version of the proven XK 'six', but demands for more power, especially from American customers, prompted the introduction of the 3.4 litre version early in 1957. With 190bhp on tap the 3.4 litre Mk. I was good for a top speed of 120mph and could reach 60mph in nine seconds, though if used to the full, this greatly improved performance severely taxed the drum brakes. All-round disc brakes were hurriedly announced as an option, becoming an almost universal fitting thereafter. The Mk. I was progressively updated throughout its life before a wholesale revision of the basic design saw it re-launched as the Mk. II in October 1959.This 1958 Jaguar Mk. I is fitted with the desirable 3.4 litre engine mated to a manual gearbox with overdrive and was recently imported from South Africa. The car runs and drives very well and has just had the brakes overhauled and the electrics and ignition system gone through and replaced where necessary. Finished in its original British Racing Green with maroon interior, this Jaguar Mk. I would make an ideal car for rebuilding for historic racing. The Daimler DB18 was produced by Daimler from 1939 until 1953. It is a 2½ litre version of the preceding 2.2 litre New Fifteen introduced in 1937. From 1949, the DB18 was revised to become the Daimler Consort. Using the engine developed for the Daimler Scout Car, it was offered to customers from 1939 as a six-cylinder chassis on which Daimler and various British coach builders offered a range of bodies including drophead coupés. The Consort became a popular car among the wealthy in India. Altogether, over 100 cars were ordered, mainly by the Maharajas in India and a further dozen were ordered by Royalty in Ceylon and Burma. This rare ‘Woody’ shooting brake is believed to be the only remaining example and is finished in black coachwork with a contrasting black vinyl roof and refurbished ash framework. The interior is trimmed with brown leather seats, wooden dashboard, door cards and reclining rear seat and is fitted a preselect gearbox. FWD 849 is a well-known car in ‘Woody’ circles having attended many classic vehicle events in the Southwest and appearing in classic publications including Tailgate issue 69-2014, where it appeared in an article that was featured on the front cover. • Sold on behalf of a deceased estate • Completely restored In the Edwardian era, Lagonda concentrated mainly on the production of light cars before revertingto sporting and luxury models in the mid-1920’s with the introduction of the 14/60. Designed by Arthur Davidson, the two-litre, four-cylinder engine featured twin camshafts mounted high in the block and operated inclined valves in hemispherical combustion chambers. Power output of this advanced engine was a highly respectable 60bhp. For the 1929 racing season, a ‘low chassis’ Speed Model was introduced, featuring revisions to the chassis front end and a higher compression engine fitted with twin carburettors. The Speed Model had resulted from the factory’s Le Mans effort of 1928 when the 2.0 Litre, driven by André d'Erlanger and Douglas Hawkes finished 11th overall in the 24 Hour Endurance Classic. In 1930, a supercharged version was introduced with a ‘blower’ mounted vertically in front of the engine and fitted with a counterweighted crankshaft. A Powerplus supercharger was specified at first, but most ‘blown’ 2.0 Litres came with a Cozzette supercharger. Thus equipped, a ‘low chassis 2.0 Litre was capable of up to 90mph. This ‘Low Chassis’ 2.0 Litre was offered for sale in December 2001 at Bonhams Olympia auction where it was purchased by Mr. Simon Carrel. Originally one of the supercharger-equipped models, chassis number 'OH9859' retains its original and extremely rare fabric-covered four-door tourer coachwork, which has been preserved as part of a no expense-spared, 'ground upwards' restoration. This was carried out with the aim of producing a usable car, not a concours winner car. The restoration included boring and stroking the engine to approximately 2.4 litres and installing a new solid billet Allen crankshaft, new Cosworth con-rods and pistons, and high-lift camshafts. A new downdraft, crossflow cylinder head was specially cast (in iron) and gas flowed, and a pre-war Rootes-type Wade supercharger acquired. The engine has been bench tested and produced 148bhp. The supercharger's original position was vertical in front of the engine while the dynamo sat beneath the radiator protruding forward. It was discovered that the Wade blower would not fit in the 'correct' position but would fit under the radiator, so the positions of the dynamo and supercharger were swapped, making the Lagonda look a bit like a blown 4½ litre Bentley. The car came with an Alvis Speed 20 synchromesh gearbox fitted, which has been retained, while the clutch has been converted and is now a Borg & Beck unit. All corossion was removed from the bodywork, which was strengthened and re-covered in new fabric, while the interior received new leather seats and panelling. Proper Lucas P100 'Bulls Eyes' were sourced and installed, and all the chrome work re-plated. 'PL 6619' was restored with a view to vintage competitions and we are advised that all the modifications are VSCC accepted because they were possible in pre-war days. It is extremely fast, 0-60mph in under 11 seconds, very reliable and great fun. It has enormous torque and will pull up any hill in third gear and easily outperforms any standard 4½ litre Lagonda. Factory built Mexico with Type 49 shellCorrect 1.6 litre crossflow engineThere was, in the early days of the Ford Escort, a higher performance version for rallying and racing. The Mk. I Escorts became very successful as a rally car and eventually went on to become one of the most successful rally cars of all time. The Ford works team was practically unbeatable in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s; arguably the Escort's greatest victory was in the 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally being driven by Finnish legend Hannu Mikkola. This gave rise to the famous Escort Mexico (1598cc crossflow-engined) special edition road versions in honour of the rally car. The Mexico was built at Ford's Advanced Vehicle Operations (AVO) facility located at the Aveley Plant in South Essex. As well as higher performance engines and sports suspension, these models featured strengthened bodyshells, making them an ideal model for rallying. Today, Mk. I Escorts are still popular in the amateur rally scene.First registered in December 1972, this factory-built original Escort Mexico with its race strengthened Type 49 shell has been set up for Tarmac/road rallies however the last owner, who purchased the car in 2019, had been amazingly using it as a fair-weather daily driver. Along with this it has been fitted with a Type 9 five-speed gearbox making the car more usable in road going conditions, the vendor stating ‘it handles like it's on rails’.Flick the power switch and push the Rally inspired start button and the firecracker of an engine bursts into life, providing a thrilling drive in one of the world's most iconic rally cars. Restored in KenyaRepatriated to the UK by a member of the armed forcesSupplied with a Heritage CertificateThe Land Rover Series IIA, produced between 1961 and 1971, remains an icon of off-road capability and rugged design. The Series IIA is often considered the quintessential Land Rover due to its robust construction, timeless aesthetic and global utility. The Series IIA retained much of the Series II's design, with its flat aluminium body panels and distinctive ‘barrel side’ waistline. It was offered in both short-wheelbase (88 inch) and long-wheelbase (109 inch) variants, catering to different utility needs. Its front grille, typically a wire mesh or pressed steel design, added to its utilitarian charm. Under the bonnet, the Series IIA was powered by a range of engines, including the 2.25 litre petrol engine, a favourite for its reliability, and a 2.25 litre diesel, renowned for efficiency. These engines paired with a four-speed manual gearbox and a selectable four-wheel-drive system made the IIA a formidable off-road machine, capable of tackling the toughest terrains worldwide. It was whilst the Series IIA was in production that sales of utility Land Rovers reached their peak, in 1969-70, when sales of over 60,000 Land Rovers a year were recorded. The Land Rover dominated many world markets - in Australia, for example, the Land Rover held 90% of the 4×4 market in the 1960’s. This figure was repeated in many countries such as Africa and the Middle East.Manufactured on 8th January 1969 and despatched on 13th January, this right hand drive Land Rover was destined to Leyland Albion the designated dealer in Kenya. It remained in Kenya for over 50 years and was purchased by Major Jim Yates whilst he was stationed in Kenya for the British Army. The vehicle was restored in Kenya with invoices to confirm the work carried out. The car was then de-registered in Kenya and repatriated to the UK. Upon arriving in the UK, the car was then registered with the DVLA and a V5 registration document issued. Additional work has been carried out in the UK for which invoices are available. Presenting well in light green with a green interior, this Land Rover has not been over-restored and maintains its character. • Manual example • One of the best M3s ever made The BMW M3 is one of the most iconic sportscars of all time. The vehicle first entered production in 1986 and quickly became known for its high performance and excellent driving dynamics. The E46 generation of M3s was produced from 2000 to 2006 and was the third generation of the M3. The E46 generation was powered by the legendary S54 3.2 litre inline six-cylinder engine, which produced 343bhp and could boast a redline of 8000rpm. This power was sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission, or the optional SMG semi-automatic. The E46 M3 was also equipped with several performance features, including a limited-slip differential, larger brakes and improved suspension. The E46 M3 was praised for its handling and power, and it is still considered to be one of the best M3s ever made. Presented in Silver Grey metallic with contrasting black Nappa leather, this manual M3 coupé was first registered on 12th June 2004 at a cost of £42,655, £2,260 of which was optional extras. Extras included 19-inch alloy wheels, Harman Kardon Hi-Fi, heated front seats, aluminium shadow interior trim, front centre armrest and graduated tinted screen. Our vendor purchased this car in July 2022, as a keen racer he had entered his BMW 246 GTR into an upcoming race series and saw this manual car as a perfect opportunity to enjoy some track time. As time was always against him only three track days were ever enjoyed in the car with it being inspected after every use. These track days were at Oulton Park, Goodwood and Castle Combe. Lake of use didn’t stop a few subtle upgrades being fitted including larger racing brakes, polybushes and an anti-roll bar which all surmount to a better handling example of the already fantastically good road car. The history file shows a good service history with the last in 2023 and few miles covered since. The MoT check shows that the car has been MoT’d annually and in the last decade not one MoT has featured an advisory. The vendor informs us that the rear sub frames have been replaced and Vanos system was checked by the previous fastidious owner. Offered with an MoT test certificate valid until February 2026, this is one of the best handling M cars BMW have produced, with the desirable (some say necessary) manual gearbox. Well maintained and cared for with the best subtle upgrades, this is a fabulous example perfect for touring, track days or just enjoying one of the finest engineered M3’s ever made. The Volvo 780 coupé debuted at the International Auto Show in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1985, marking Volvo's return to the two-door coupé market following the departure of the 262C in 1981. The 780 became available in 1986 and was designed by Marc Deschamps and built by Carrozzeria Bertone in Turin, Italy. For the first two years that the 780 was available worldwide it received the B280F V6 engine and a solid rear axle. From August 1987 the 780 came equipped with Volvo's independent rear suspension, which used self-levelling Nivomat shocks to keep ride height correct. The B280F at this point produced roughly 150bhp but to address concerns about performance, Volvo introduced the B230FT+ with Volvo's Turbo+ boost controller, increasing the engine output to 175bhp. The following model year saw this increase to 188bhp.This example of the rare 780 coupé is presented in burgundy coachwork and is believed to be one of just four in the UK. Imported to the UK in 2016 from Japan, the car is described as in good overall condition with good bodywork but for one area of lacquer peel circa tennis ball size and a few scratches on the bonet. Recent work includes changing the oil, oil filter, air filter, plugs, HT leads, as well as cleaning the MAF and throttle body. The coolant has been flushed and changed and a new thermostat was fitted at the same time. The brakes have also had an overhaul recently, with a new master cylinder and fluid as has the automatic transmission. Knowledgeable Volvo enthusiast will know that the Nivomat self-levelling shocks will at some point need replacing and the best option is with Bilstein standard springs, which can be found for around £500 for the pair should the new owner wish. Inside the leather seats are good heated and electrically operated. A rare example of the C70’s predecessor found in this auction and well presented; it is safe to say it’s unlikely you will bump into another on these shores, so a unique opportunity. Two owners from newMany modifications, some by TwistedGood historyThe Land Rover Defender was launched in 1948 and, incredibly, production only finished in January 2016 after a continuous run of 67 years. Outwardly, there is little to distinguish the post-1983 vehicles from the Series III Land Rover. A full-length bonnet, revised grille, plus the fitting of wheel arch extensions to cover wider-track axles are the most noticeable changes. Internally, coil springs offered a more comfortable ride and a permanent four-wheel drive system derived from the Range Rover featuring a two-speed transfer gearbox with a lockable centre differential. A modernised interior and a new series of progressively more powerful and modern engine characterised things under the skin. This stunning looking example of this celebrated model is presented in Stornoway Grey with a black interior. The present owner purchased this vehicle at a Twisted open day in 2016 and used it as his daily drive. The engine is the original 2.4 litre diesel but the rest of this 4x4 has been subtly modified, some with Twisted parts and others by specialists. Some of these modifications are LED light bar to winch bumper, KBX grille in gloss black, KBX light surrounds, Wipac LED headlights, Twisted aluminium sump guard, black aluminium chequer plate wing tops, Optimill security bonnet hinges, safari snorkel, Recaro front seats in Alcantara, Pioneer stereo (circa £2,000), BF Goodridge tyres and so the list goes on (full list of modifications can be found in the history file). This vehicle comes with two sets of keys, all handbooks in the Land Rover wallet including service book, many invoices from Topcats Racing of Aylesbury who have looked after the Land Rover whilst with the present owner. Ranking alongside the Volkswagen Beetle, Mini and Land Rover as one of the classic mass-produced cars of the post-war era, Citroën's quirky 2CV debuted in 1949. Intended to provide basic transport in a period of post-war austerity, the 2CV outlived its humble beginnings, going on to attain cult status as the favoured car of the environmentally concerned motorist. Although the original 375cc air-cooled flat-twin engine grew, eventually, to 602cc, the 2CV's performance remained modest at around 70mph flat-out, that didn’t concern the majority of its devotees for whom the roomy interior, full-length sunroof and frugal fuel consumption were of far greater importance. The 2CV was built in civilian, military and commercial versions, the latter - a small delivery van - being known as the 'Fourgonnette', which was first seen in 1951. By the time production ceased in 1990 more than five million 2CVs of all types had been made. This rare van has been owned by a fanatical Citroën enthusiast and member of the Citroën Car Club and 2CV GB, indeed this is the third time that the current owner has owned this van! The early 2CV vans, like this, are considered to be the most collectible because they were fitted with the original ‘ripple’ bonnet, the rear doors with small lozenge windows and the thin ripples on the side of the van. This lovely van, already a very sound example, was completely stripped, panels were replaced where necessary and it was repainted inside and out in its correct grey colour. The chassis is excellent and has been repainted. The brakes have been rebuilt with new wheel cylinders, master cylinder and hoses/pipes as necessary. The gearbox was removed and fully rebuilt by a marque expert and new clutch fitted. The tyres have also been replaced. The van currently needs nothing. As a further sign of confidence, the van comes with a fresh MoT test certificate even though it does not require to be tested. Road tax is also free, making the van a very economical form of transport.During the rebuild it was decided to open one side of the rear body to allow the van to be fitted with, for example, a coffee machine – it could really be used for any type of business and would also make a great static display for wines, cheese, flowers – you name it!However, close the hatch and you still have the most perfect example of a lovely, rare vehicle. It is very reliable and to make it safer for traffic today, it has been fitted with indicators, which, at the front are concealed within the headlamps.A 100 plus mile journey has recently been successfully completed, including sections of the M40 and M25. • Rare Barker body • Occasional seats• Privacy screenThe Rolls-Royce 25/30 built between 1936 and 1938 is an updated version of the 20/25 with a larger engine to provide more power for the over-large bodies which had been fitted to the earlier model leading to complaints about its performance. The in-line six-cylinder, overhead valve, engine is similar to that used in the 20/25 but increased in capacity to 4,257cc. A single proprietary Stromberg downdraught carburettor replaced the Rolls-Royce one and magneto ignition was no longer fitted but a spare ignition coil was provided. The riveted chassis has rigid front and rear axles suspended by half-elliptic springs with hydraulic dampers. Braking is on all four wheels assisted by a mechanical servo with separate rear brakes fitted for the handbrake. The traditional Rolls-Royce radiator features vertical louvres, the angle of which is controlled thermostatically to control engine cooling. Only the chassis and mechanical parts were made by Rolls-Royce. The body was then made and fitted by a coachbuilder selected by the owner. This delightfully handsome Rolls-Royce was bodied by the respected coachbuilder Barker. Ordered new by Sir William Waters Butler, who, having studied chemistry had refined the manufacturing process of his father’s brewery replacing the empirical methods with scientific control. He would go on to enjoy much success becoming Deputy-Chairman of Messrs, Mitchells and Butlers Ltd and in 1914 Chairman of the company, a position he held until his death. Purchased by the current vendor in 2014 the car has been part of a working collection of Bentley’s and Rolls-Royce’s ever since. Presented in black over ivory and with a cream leather interior. Rare options to the car include cleverly designed, folding ‘occasional seats’ and a privacy screen. Reported by the vendor to run and drive well, the car is now only being sold due to the decision to reduce his collection. Supplied with its V5 registration document, receipts and copies of the original Rolls-Royce build sheets. This is a well-presented and usable example of these ever popular and iconic Rolls-Royce’s. • One of 149 right hand drive examples• Ferrari Classiche certified• Highly original and matching numbers example One of the most talked about releases at 1968 Paris Motor Show was Ferrari's brand new Berlinetta. It was expected to be called Daytona to celebrate Ferrari's 1-2-3 finish in the 1967 Daytona 24 Hours race. At the launch however the press was proven wrong as it was just dubbed 365 GTB/4 but the name stuck and to this day it is still referred to as the 'Daytona'. Ironically, it was intended to be called Daytona - but when the name leaked out prematurely Ferrari reverted to using the traditional system. Pininfarina's Leonardo Fioravanti, later the famed Carrozzeria' director of research and development, was responsible for the influential shark-nosed styling, creating a package that reinstated the traditional 'long bonnet, small cabin, short tail' look in a manner suggesting muscular horsepower while retaining all the elegance associated with the Italian coachbuilder's work for Maranello. One of Pininfarina's countless masterpieces, the influential shark-nosed body style featured an unusual full-width transparent panel covering the headlamps, though this was replaced by electrically operated pop-up lights to meet US requirements soon after the start of production in the second half of 1969. Fioravanti later revealed that the Daytona was his favourite among the many Ferraris he designed. The engine was based on the 330 unit and featured double overhead camshafts, first seen on a production Ferrari only two years earlier. The oval tube ladder type frame was as traditional as the engine layout. Although the prototype had been styled and built by Pininfarina in Turin, manufacture of the production version was entrusted to Ferrari's subsidiary Scaglietti in Modena. The Daytona's all-alloy, four-cam, V12 engine displaced 4,390cc and produced its maximum output of 352bhp at 7,500rpm, with 318lb/ft of torque available at 5,500 revs. Dry-sump lubrication enabled it to be installed low in the oval-tube frame, while shifting the gearbox to the rear, in the form of a five-speed transaxle, meant 50/50 weight distribution could be achieved. The all-independent wishbone and coil-spring suspension was a recent development, having originated in the preceding 275 GTB. Unlike the contemporary 365 GTC/4, the Daytona was not available with power steering, a feature then deemed inappropriate for a 'real' sportscar. There was, however, servo assistance for the four-wheel ventilated disc brakes.Air conditioning was optional, but elsewhere the Daytona remained uncompromisingly focussed on delivering nothing less than superlative high performance. In 1968 the Daytona was the most expensive production Ferrari ever and, with a top speed in excess of 170mph, was also the world's fastest production car. The Daytona would be manufactured for just four years and not until the arrival of the 456 GT in 1992 would Ferrari build anything like it again. Only 1,300 Berlinetta models and 121 Spyder convertibles had been made when production ceased in 1973.One of only 149 Daytona’s manufactured in right hand drive configuration, chassis number '15381' was ordered from Maranello Concessionaires in January 1972 by Callanders Garage of Glasgow for Mr. Alistair Stewart. The car was delivered complete with toolkit, air conditioning and Voxson Sonar stereo radio/cassette with electric antenna. It was finished in Blu Chiaro Metallizzato with beige Connolly leather interior trim and one of only six UK cars finished in this elegant colour combination. Completed in March 1972 and dispatched from Maranello to the UK, Mr. Stewart took delivery on 25th April 1972 and the Ferrari was first registered as 'KHS 12K'. Additional items supplied and fitted by Maranello Concessionaires included extra side lights, a 'Prancing Horse' on the boot lid, a nose bar, and Lucas spot lamps. Mr. Stewart owned the car for a couple of years before selling it to Mr. Sandford, a Surrey-based motor dealer and owner of Roy Salvadori's former business, Elmbridge Motors. The Ferrari was then offered for sale without success, it was also painted red in an effort to find a buyer, however Mike Sandford decided to keep the car for his own personal use and reregistered it as 'GGT 1N' in 1975. The caring custodian Mike Sandford drove the car sparingly on leisurely jaunts from his home near Petworth to Goodwood and for get-togethers with friends at London's Steering Wheel Club. Having owned the car for more than 30 years and covering fewer than 7,000 miles during that time (as confirmed by a complete set of MoT test certificates) he decided to sell the car and re-registered it as 'NRX 572K'. In early 2006, the car was sold to Graham Horder and treated to a mechanical overhaul by Reeders. In February 2012, the car was purchased by John Mayston-Taylor, former proprietor and MD of Lynx. With a mere 26,862 miles recorded, the car was given a thorough mechanical overhaul and returned to its original colour of Blu Chiaro Metallizzato, while being reregistered as 'OVV 4'. Official Ferrari Classiche Certification was granted in January 2013 and the following September the car returned to Italy for the first time in more than 40 years, participating in the exclusive Italia Classica and running faultlessly throughout the event. A discreet, switchable, electric power steering unit was installed, which we are told transforms the driving experience. In 2016 the car changed hands to our vendor, after being offered for auction at Goodwood. Purchased to fulfil a dream of driving a Ferrari Daytona to Monaco which he duly completed, the car then became part of a private collection in Cheshire. When first purchased, Trevor Farrington Ltd of Cheshire maintained the car and when not in use it is permanently garaged in a heated room. The car has been treated to further regular services and was recently serviced in January of this year. The car is sold complete with V5C registration document, Ferrari Classiche Red Book, its original leather wallet with all books and the original tool roll complete with tools. Copies of original factory correspondence, service and repair invoices, and near every MoT test certificate are included. Currently sitting on chrome wire wheels (the original five star wheels are also sold with the car). With a total mileage of just 31,500 and multiple long-term ownership including nearly a decade with our vendor, the car remains in highly original and unmolested condition, making it very rare among cars of its type today. Very low mileage and only two owners from newSuperb overall conditionThe Ford P100 is a car-based pick-up that was built from 1971 to 1993, initially in South Africa, and later in Portugal. It was based on medium-sized passenger cars, originally the Cortina and from 1988 the Sierra. The P100 name had previously been used on a small North American panel van in the 1960s. In late 1987, for the 1988 model year, the P100 was rebodied with a new Sierra based cab. Engine choices were originally the Sierra's 2.0 litre ‘Pinto’ petrol engine, with a 1.8 litre turbo diesel following soon thereafter. It proved a strong seller, particularly on the UK market. Production of the P100 ceased when the Sierra was replaced by the Mondeo range. In recent years the Sierra-based P100 has gained a following in drifting and modifying circles, and many are becoming modified to include Cosworth engines, which are based on the truck version of the Pinto block. The very fact that they are so easily modified under the bonnet and inside the cab has made the P100 extremely popular in cruise circles. Not only did you think you’d never again see a P100, but this one is only two owners from new and all the paperwork supports it to have ridiculously low mileage of 12,500 miles. A quick look around the vehicle interior supports this claim. The first owner used this vehicle sparingly having covered 10,000 miles in the first 11 years. The service book has regular stamps and in 2006 the vehicle was sold to its second owner who has had the truck until now. There is little in the paperwork to show works carried out and it seems it was SORN for most of his ownership and kept as part of a small collection– he clearly loved the ownership of this special vehicle as his father was a builder and he owned P100s as his regular mode of transport. During his ownership, further improvement works were carried out which included a major cleaning prior to a full underside Waxoyle. Some engine components were also replaced or painted following the removal to ensure this job was carried out correctly. There are some photographs of these works. In lockdown further improvements took place including painting the chassis, underfloor and wheels followed by a service. There is an invoice in the owner’s name for the purchase of a cambelt which suggests he fitted it and another cambelt appears to have been purchased when the truck was showing 12,570 miles. This truck is in a very credible condition and mechanically feels and sounds like a new vehicle. 1951 saw Austin's reply to the Morris Minor, the A30 was launched at the Motor Show of that year. A more cautious design than the Minor, the A30 was nevertheless Austin's first unitary construction car and the first to be powered by the famous A-Series engine. The A30's selling price undercut the Minor's by £10, thanks in part to such cost-cutting features as external door hinges, a solitary rear light, sliding windows and rear brakes operated by a single hydraulic cylinder via a mechanical linkage. A two-door model joined the four-door original in 1953, with van and estate versions following in 1954. The model was updated in 1956 with a wider rear window, remote gear lever and the 948cc engine, becoming the A35. British panache and American muscleRare convertible configurationIncludes UK V5C registration documentWith the very early models built in 1967 by Vignali, production soon moved to the Jensen Works in West Bromwich. They took advantage of Chrysler’s extremely flexible 6276cc, V8 engine with power pushed through a Torqueflite automatic transmission unit and transmitted via a limited slip differential. The Series II incorporated revised front suspension, Girling brakes and a redesigned interior while the Series III, introduced in 1971, came with a 7.2 litre engine, better seats, central locking, alloy wheels and power steering. Leather upholstery, reclining front seats, and walnut veneer were all standard features with automatic transmission the choice of almost all buyers. For 1974, Jensen adopted an improved, 330bhp version of the 7.2 litre Chrysler V8 on the 'J-Series' Mk. III which also included air conditioning (that had been standard issue on the now-discontinued Interceptor SP model). The major development that year though, was the introduction of the convertible as presented here.Built in 1975 and first registered on 1st May 1974, this left hand drive model was previously registered overseas and presents in a wonderful metallic burgundy coachwork with distinctive Interceptor alloy wheels and matching colour-coded inserts. It was purchased by our vendor in 2024 from a collector abroad and has been regularly garaged whilst used sparingly. The car itself is in good overall condition with a deep metallic finish that has seen little ill effect since its body restoration. It boasts a fine tan leather interior with black trim and has born little or no damage over the years and matches well with a relatively new high-quality traditional double-duck cotton soft top although no hoodbag. The interior also benefits from the classic sequence of dials & vents set into a walnut dashboard with an Alpine AM/FM stereo/cassette player and Nardi-style, wood-rimmed steering wheel, the rear-windows are problematic but are currently receiving attention (their operation cannot be confirmed). We are also informed that safety belt pretensioners and electric mirrors have been fitted as an option and presents correspondingly with an extremely attractive catalogue estimate. Consigned by Edward Bridger-Stille Interested parties should note that this vehicle is currently not starting and, when moved into position, there appeared to be an issue with the rear axle. In same ownership for 50 yearsRecent new hood and tonneau When the MGA arrived in 1955, it must have come as quite a shock to MG aficionados who had become accustomed to the pre-war look of the company's sportscars. It was a complete departure in styling and its beautiful, streamlined body was right up to the minute in terms of appearance. It was powered by a new engine; MG had decided that the old XPAG unit had had its day and so introduced a much more modern B-series engine that had made its debut in the recently announced Magnette saloon. This example of this British classic sportscar is presented in white with black interior and has a black hood and tonneau which have been replaced recently. This MGA's cylinder head has been converted to run on unleaded fuel about 15 years ago and this work was done by Osselli who are MGA and Aston Martin specialists. The car has fibreglass wings which were on the car when our client purchased it all those years ago. The car has been owned by our client for just over 50 years and was completely rebuilt in 1988. It is an original UK supplied car and comes with a Heritage Certificate, stainless steel exhaust, electric radiator fan, Moto-Lita steering wheel and is used regularly. For the debut of its new MGA in 1955, MG wisely chose that year’s Le Mans 24 Hour race; after a succession of open-wheeled models there were fears of an adverse reaction to such a streamlined car, and it was felt that by showing the MGA in competition first, the aerodynamic shape would be accepted as a performance essential. The competition successes of the ZA Magnette had already proved the potential of its new 1,498cc four-cylinder engine, and this was chosen for the new MGA. With 68bhp at 5,550rpm, soon raised to 72bhp, the MGA was capable of 0-60mph in 15 seconds and 97mph while the predictable handling, via independent coil spring front suspension and live leaf-sprung rear axle, was almost fool proof. The car was an instant success, and in 1956 the roadster was joined by a fixedhead coupé. Repatriated to the UK in 2014, this MGA presents as a nice thoroughly useable example. At some stage it has been converted from left to right hand drive. The current owner is a fastidious knowledgeable and highly capable engineer. Throughout his stewardship the car has had two new 12volt batteries fitted (in parallel), a 3.9 ratio diff has also been fitted to ensure more comfortable cruising. In addition to this electronic ignition has been fitted for greater reliability and this MGA also benefits from servo assisted brakes. The engine started on the button and ran well during our visit and we are advised this MGA roadster drives with no known faults. Supplied with a V5 registration document, together with some invoices, this MGA is a great introduction into classic car motoring for a relatively modest outlay. The Jaguar 420, introduced in 1966, is a luxury saloon that exemplifies the elegance and performance associated with the iconic British car manufacturer. As a successor to the Jaguar 3.8 and the 420G, the 420 was designed to offer both sophistication and power in a more compact and stylish package, compared to its larger siblings. Under the bonnet, the Jaguar 420 was equipped with a 4.2-litre inline-six engine, which was the same engine found in the Jaguar E-Type and the Jaguar XK series. This engine produced around 245 bhp and was paired with either a four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic transmission. With this set-up, the 420 could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in about 8.4 seconds, which was impressive for its time, offering both refinement and sportiness. The car's design was striking, with the bodywork styled by the renowned Jaguar designer, Sir William Lyons. It shared many design elements with the Jaguar Mark X and the Jaguar S-Type, but its more compact size gave it a sleeker, more agile appearance. Inside, the cabin was a testament to luxury, with leather upholstery, wood veneer trim, and a host of comfort features such as power windows and a fully equipped dashboard. The car featured an independent rear suspension, providing a smooth and comfortable ride, even on rougher roads. Its steering and handling were precise, with a solid feel on the road.Presented in British Racing Green with a contrasting tan leather interior trim gives this example a classic gentleman’s club combination. First registered on 12th January 1968, the previous keeper informed us that in the 90's this car was a regular at car shows and a multi concours winner. Boasting a manual gearbox and the iconic 4.2 litre Jaguar engine, one can well imagine the attraction for the infamous London gangster scene for which the Mk. X and 420 were famed along with many wealthy business owners of the 60’s. This car has had performance upgrades for the perfect getaway car including the head polished and larger jets giving it improved performance, our vendor tells us to keep up with modern cars. This genuine right hand drive Jaguar is UK registered with a V5C registration document present. Offered without reserve, this 420 is expected to find an enthusiastic new owner who will once again enjoy the grace, space, and pace that these Jaguars are so capable of delivering. Sporting body designed by Carrosserie PininfarinaNew MoT test certificateFreshly refurbished wheels with good tyres.Considered by many as the last real Lancia, this modern, sleek example was built on ‘progressive collapse’ principles to ensure safety for all occupants. The interior was luxurious with high-quality materials used such as pleated headlining, Veglia instruments, Jaeger clock and push-out front quarter light windows making for a driver-focused layout. Indeed, the Flavia 2000 Coupé was one of the last Lancia models developed before Fiat took control making it a cherished classic amongst enthusiasts today.Owned by a classics collector, stored and cared for along with the rest of his collection in a temperature and humidity-controlled warehouse, it is presented in the original white coachwork which is in excellent order and repainted by the previous owner, with a black leatherette interior, requiring some attention in places and sporting a twin-spoke (anti-splinter) wood-rimmed steering wheel, albeit showing some light varnish damage. Used sparingly but regularly, it has recently undergone some recommissioning work by Lancia specialists Tranc Barratt with bills in the last three months, totalling over £3,000 to cover work on the engine and electrical systems to ensure it is running and driving well. The history folder is extensive and contains not only documents relating to this specific car but also a series of magazines relating to the marque in general as well as the original Flavia technical data manual and owners book. More recently, the steel wheels have been refurbished and the chromework throughout polished, indeed so confident in the car’s abilities that the vendor will be driving the car to the auction. Upgraded to S-SpecificationNumerous factory upgradesHighly desirable 2+2 configurationBeloved by modern day enthusiasts and heritage collectors alike. The aggressive appearance of the Vanquish in 'Die Another Day' cemented its place in James Bond history and has helped to make this an instantly recognisable model. Featuring a bonded aluminium chassis combined with many pieces of traditional craftsmanship ushered in a new era for Aston Martin. Underneath the bonnet sat a 460bhp, V12 engine delivering power through a six-speed manual gearbox controlled by an electro-hydraulic, paddle-shift gearchange. Aston Martin’s own cars were initially registered with their own ‘AML’ plates and, as such, this example left the factory with ‘AML 1’ pride of place, front and rear before changing to its current registration about a year later.Presented in the striking and rare Litchfield Black with a matching charcoal interior and body-coloured handles with a violet chrome consul, the first owner really went to town with the options list. Specialist upgrades include a premium quality Linn sound system with a boot-mounted amplifier and CD changer, high intensity (HID) headlights and upgraded Kahn RS-V alloy wheels valued at £4,000. It is important to note that this is the desirable 2+2 variant, offering not only additional room internally but also the upgraded optional sports dynamic pack consisting of enhanced steering, suspension and brakes which came as standard with the ‘S’.Also included is a file of invoices, the correct aluminium-bound owner’s pack, an MoT test certificate valid until July 2025, a clear HPI and a fitted Tracker system. Additionally included is a V5C registration document and an unused Aston Martin umbrella clipped to the boot lid, something that often (unsurprisingly) goes missing. These are supremely handsome and it is unlikely that such an affordable example will come to market again as prices are rising thus viewing is highly recommended. Consigned by Edward Bridger-Stille

Supplied new in CaliforniaBeautifully rebuilt as 911 Carrera 2.7 RS EvocationOriginal five speed manual gearboxBuilt for comfort and to be usedThis left hand drive 1976 Porsche 911 2.7 Carrera S fitted with a five speed manual gearbox, was originally sold in California where it spent it’s life until it was purchased by the current owner and imported to the UK in March 2018. In its first year in the UK, an RS Lightweight conversion was carried out which included bodywork repairs and a full bare metal respray in 2018/19 which was carried out by OSC in Chessington. As the car had spent its pre-UK life in San Diego, California, there were only two minor areas of corrosion that needed addressing. The front wing extensions that house the indicators are metal and genuine Porsche parts and the rear engine cover is metal with a fibreglass ducktail spoiler fitted. The front bonnet has been replaced with a genuine Porsche period ‘long bonnet’. The car has been built to Lightweight rather than Touring specification, so both the front and rear bumpers are fibreglass as they would have been on an original car. Finished in Viper Green which is an original Porsche period factory colour, the paintwork is in very good condition throughout. The wheels are original Fuchs alloys with extremely rare deep-dish rears. The interior is largely original but some tasteful upgrades have been made as the owner wanted a usable classic with the external appearance of a '73 RS rather than a full replica. The steering wheel is the original, although it has been retrimmed in Nappa leather, as indeed has the dashboard. The present owner also added genuine 70's era Porsche electric seats with twelve-way control on the driver’s side and eight-way on the passenger side. Along with the seats, Porsche electric window mechanisms and switches and a modern face off radio were fitted to make the car more usable and comfortable. The original seats, manual window winders and mechanisms are available should a future owner wished to return the car to stock. The owner reports that the engine runs well and as the car started out as a 2.7 Carrera S, the engine is largely similar to a genuine RS. There have not been many upgrades to the engine, other than the correct twin exhaust system fitted and a replacement oil sump with oil drain. The warm-up regulator and the fuel injection distributor have both been rebuilt by renowned experts KMI. The fuel injectors have been replaced by Porsche specialists GT-One in Chertsey, who also completed all the other engine work. Servicing has been carried out on an annual basis and the most recent service replaced the oil, filters, plugs and leads. The four Continental tyres have done less than 200 miles. The car is supplied with a V5 registration document, its original owner’s manual/service book and two sets of keys. Accompanying this is a Porsche letter confirming the car has matching numbers, a file containing invoices from GT-One for the work completed and all of the invoices for parts and KMI work. There are service stamps in the warranty book that run to the early 2000's when car was parked up by its previous owner in California and mileages match from the last stamp to the car's odometer. Could ‘electrifying’ classics be a path to keep them on the road for the next 50 years, arguably only time will tell. Owning a classic is rarely about efficiency and speed but often more about experience, style and craftsmanship with their appeal not limited to car lovers but also lovers of engineering and design. They have their own personalities and part of the joy of ownership is found in club membership, associated meetings and friendship. This MGB however is not powered by the conventional four-cylinder engine but has recently been converted by Sebring Works (formerly Vital Spark) from petrol to electric in January 2022 and confirmed as such by the DVLA. It now has a radical new electric power train as featured on the front cover of February 2024 edition of the MG Car Club Magazine as well as many other publications including Cotswolds Life. Now finished in Old English White and complemented by new red leather seats piped in white. It was restored to a high standard in 2020 with new panels all round as well as the retained Webasto sun-roof, upgraded brakes and suspension.Whilst the manual gear shifter is still in situ, once the vehicle is in motion, it continues right up to its maximum speed, just shy of an impressive 100mph with no need to change. Dials exist on the dashboard to show charge, power and speed as well as a high-quality Pioneer head-end stereo unit. Charging takes place through a specialist port under the rear overrider with the main battery under the front bonnet. There is additional cooling in the shape of a handmade aluminium radiator with additional fan just in front of the main battery. The wheels are anodised alloy units all round fitted with high quality Uniroyal rubber. The original drivetrain has been left intact save for the removal of the parts directly relating to the engine and petrol tank, this means that accessories such as general lighting, washer bottle, etc can be accessed as normal. A relay has been added to the brake pressure switch to allow a feed to the VCU (vehicle control unit) allowing regenerative braking with another added to the fan switch to control the cab heating. Classic good looks but now entirely emission-free at the exhaust. This has been fitted with new ‘Netgain Hyper 9’ motor powered by 10 Jaguar Ipace batteries - six located in the engine bay and four located in the rear for perfect weight distribution. History file dating back to the mid 1990’sRare Mediterranean BlueCurrently owned by an ex-Lotus technicianBuilt between 1976 and 2004, the Lotus Esprit was unveiled in 1972 as a concept car and was a development of a stretched Lotus Europa chassis. It was among the first of designer Giorgetto Giugiaro's polygonal 'folded paper' designs. Originally, the name Kiwi was proposed but, in keeping with the Lotus tradition of having all car model names start with the letter 'E', the name became Esprit. Introduced in April 1981, the Turbo Esprit and Series III Esprit marked a necessary consolidation; both new models had a common chassis. The Series III continued to use the 2.2 litre, type 912 engine, whilst the Turbo Esprit reverted to a less complex wet-sump lubrication system, retaining the power and torque outputs of its dry-sump predecessor. The interior for both cars was revised and featured new trim; combined with changes to the body moulds this resulted in more headroom and an enlarged footwell. Externally, the Turbo Esprit retained the full aerodynamic body kit of the Essex cars and featured prominent 'Turbo Esprit' decals on the nose and sides. The car we have here is supplied in the rare and very attractive colour of Mediterranean Blue with a cream interior and presents in very good order. The car is currently owned by an ex-Lotus technician who worked on these cars when new, hence deciding to purchase this example in October 2022 but he hasn’t got around to using it as much as he expected, so has decided to offer it for sale. The car is supplied with a good history file showing continuous works over the years. During our vendors ownership, the car has been fitted with a new alternator, various gaskets and seals including rear main seal, a full service, a new clutch and clutch release bearing and many other smaller jobs in recent times. These X180 generation Lotus Esprits look like such good value today, they have the iconic wedge lines of the 70’s and 80’s supercars but can be bought for the same price as many modern shopping cars. Celebrity musician ownerHigh specificationNut and Bolt restoration by the SL ShopThe R107 and C107 were built to exact engineering standards, unsurprisingly, and with a more than subtle air of sophistication. What marks these streamlined sportscars out from the rest is the comfortable rear two seats, sublime power delivery from the larger engine models and of course, the legendary Stuttgart build-quality. These imposing pillarless coupés have now become rare and prices are rising. This truly stunning SLC presented in the period correct Blue Green metallic with a full beige leather trim has been subject to a full ‘nut and bolt’ restoration by the foremost R107 specialists in Europe, the SL SHOP. This example boasts air conditioning, sunroof, cruise control and a limited slip differential. As part of the restoration the car was stripped back to a shell to deal with any rust and corrosion issues. The bulkhead was rectified with all new metal, as were the floor pans, inner and outer sills, boot floor and front crossmember. Every small imperfection that was found along the way was dealt with, all fabrication and rust repair was done by the SL SHOP’s expert team in-house. Once the body was ready it was fully prepared and painted in Blue Green metallic (877), a colour that was correct for the production year having been introduced to the Mercedes-Benz range in March of 1980. The decision was then made to change the interior from the dark moody black to the much lighter beige to improve the cabin ambience, and the original Mexican hat alloy wheels complete the picture. When putting this car back together, it was done with new parts where possible, meaning the exhaust system, braking, suspension (including all bushes) and throttle linkage is all new. The interior is all new, finished in beige with every component and piece of the puzzle carefully reinstalled to create an ‘as new’ R107 SLC. Sifting through bills and given the time and cost of the original car, we can give a conservative estimate that this example would have cost circa. £100,000 to recreate. With over 21 million manufactured in an air-cooled, rear engine and rear wheel drive configuration, it is the longest running and most manufactured car of a single design platform anywhere in the world. During the 1950's, it was modified progressively; the most obvious visual changes being the rear window. Towards the end of 1964, the height of the side windows and windscreen grew slightly giving the cabin a less pinched look which coincided with the introduction of a very slightly curved 'panoramic' windscreen. The same body appeared throughout 1966 with a 1300cc engine in place of the 1200cc engine; it was only in the 1973 model Super Beetle that it displayed an obviously curved windscreen. It has been regarded as something of a 'cult' car since its 1960's association with the hippie movement and surf culture. This Volkswagen Beetle has certainly had an interesting life. Originally sent to Jewett in New Zealand on 10th August 1954, the vehicle was then shipped to South Carolina in the U.S. before arriving in the UK in 2012. They were designed for commercial use with small businesses in mind, although many made their way to larger corporations. The van version was popular with the Post Office, with the early version of these (to around 1956) having rubber front wings, to cope with the sometimes-unforgiving busy situations in which they were expected to work. Both the van and the pick-up differed from the monocoque construction of the Saloon and Traveller variants, by having a separate chassis. They also differed in details such as telescopic rear dampers, stiffer rear leaf springs and lower-ratio differentials to cope with the heavier loads. The commercial versions were initially marketed as the Morris Quarter Ton Van and Pick-up, with a Series III designation applied from 1956. Since 1921, the Bentley name has remained synonymous with prestige, performance and luxury. The 'Continental' designation recalls the Bentley Continental of the post-war period. The 'R' resonates to the R-Type Bentleys from the 1950s as well as the Turbo R of the 1980s. Bentley's 1980s resurgence relied exclusively on models whose basic architecture was shared with other Rolls-Royce models however, the Bentley Continental R was unique to the Bentley marque. Despite the need to incorporate non-traditional features such as doors recessed into the roof, the result looked every bit a Bentley, albeit one restated for the 1990s. Needless to say, the performance was outstanding, the combination of the Turbo R engine in the new wind-cheating shape cutting the 0-60mph time to under six seconds and boosting a top speed in excess of 150mph.This lovely example of this classic British luxury coupé is presented in gleaming black with cream leather interior. The front seats are electrically operated and it comes with electric windows, stereo system and two sets of keys. This wonderful Bentley comes with a good service history in three large lever arch folders, including a full Jack Barclay service history up until 2021 and the last invoice for work completed shows an expenditure of £12,917 with Jack Barclay in 2021 at 93,905 miles. Superb condition throughoutRare example being just one of 12 in existence The story of the Dolomite starts in 1936 when, facing bankruptcy, Triumph launched a new range of models headed by the Dolomite, powered by a brand new, all alloy overhead valve 1767cc engine with crossflow cylinder heads designed by Donald Healey. The cars featured the famous waterfall grille by Walter Belgrove and on the roadster models, a fold out rear ‘dicky’ seat. This rare Triumph Dolomite Roadster 14/65 is finished in gleaming red with beige hide interior. This example is one of just 12 examples in existence, only half of which are road going! The first owner of this example is not known however, we do know the car has had just four owners from new, the second owner purchased the car in 1951/2 from Chequered Garage in Chiswick, London and he sold the car in 1964. The car remained in the same family, passing from father to son until 2019 and it has had owner since then. This is a particularly fine example with matching chassis and engine numbers and it is presented in outstanding condition throughout with excellent body and paintwork, perfect carpets and leather, with the car running and driving beautifully. It comes with a nice history which includes a handbook, an invoice from Pilkington for the windscreen, photocopy of a book showing this car, a handwritten history of this car, workshop manual and a V5 registration document. Launched in 1970, the Triumph Stag was a luxury grand tourer. Envisioned as a luxury sports car, it was designed to compete directly with the Mercedes-Benz SL class models. All Stags were four-seater convertible coupés but for structural rigidity and to meet new American rollover standards at the time, the Stag required a B-pillar 'roll bar' hoop connected to the windscreen frame by a T-bar. A new 2.5 litre, V8 designed and developed by Triumph's Harry Webster was later enlarged to 2,997cc. Most Stags were fitted with a Borg Warner automatic gearbox although manual gearboxes with overdrive were available. Electric windows, power steering and power-assisted brakes were fitted as standard. This very nice example is presented in white with a new black hood and black interior. Its evocative sounding V8 engine is mated to an automatic gearbox and the history file contains old MoT test certificates, various receipts and old valuation certificates. The paintwork is in good condition as too is the interior. Although the odometer reading is 27,122 this cannot be verified. A true British classic sports car and with spring fast approaching, there is nothing better than taking the hood down and listening to that V8 on song! Significant history fileA rare and interesting exampleOver £30,000 spent by the vendor during his stewardshipBearing its original number plateThe Bentley S2, a luxurious British automobile from the early 1950s, is a prime example of the exquisite craftsmanship and refinement Bentley was known for during this era. The S2, introduced in 1955, marked a significant transition in Bentley’s history, as it was the first model to feature a V8 engine, replacing the previous straight-six engines. This shift allowed the Bentley S2 to offer both improved performance and a smoother driving experience, encapsulating the perfect blend of power and elegance that the marque was renowned for. One of the most distinguished aspects of the Bentley S2 was the work of H.J. Mulliner, the famed coachbuilder that was commissioned to design and build many bespoke bodies for Bentley and Rolls-Royce models during the mid-20th century. The collaboration between Bentley and H.J. Mulliner resulted in some of the most elegant and visually striking cars of the era. Mulliner was known for its attention to detail, and the bespoke bodywork of the Bentley S2 reflected this philosophy, with each car meticulously tailored to the specifications of the owner. The Mulliner-designed Bentley S2 was typically a two-door coupé or a four-door saloon, featuring exquisite hand-finished wood panelling, sumptuous leather upholstery, and intricate detailing both inside and out. The exterior was characterised by flowing, graceful lines, with a prominent front grille that proudly displayed the Bentley emblem. Mulliner’s craftsmanship also extended to the interior, where soft leather seats, polished wood veneers, and chrome accents adorned the cabin, elevating the driving experience to a level of opulence few could match. Performance-wise, the Bentley S2 was powered by a 6.2-litre V8 engine, which provided a smooth yet powerful driving experience. With around 200 horsepower, it could comfortably reach speeds over 100 mph, offering both comfort and performance in equal measure. The car’s advanced engineering also included improved suspension systems that ensured a smooth, quiet ride, no matter the road conditions.Offering charm and character in abundance, this Bentley S2 has had an interesting history. Originally registered on 13th January 1961 the chassis of this Continental was delivered to H.J. Mulliner on 12th September 1960. The two-door saloon body was painted in Mist Green and the car was trimmed with green leather upholstery. It still bears these colours today, the paintwork is largely original, the vendor being reluctant to paint the car as he is particularly fond of originality. Any new owner may choose to have the paintwork refreshed, the estimate reflecting this. The first owner, a Mr. Percy Levy from London N.W.3 specified some interesting extras on the car when he commissioned it. These include a sunroof, electric windows, electric aerial, combined parking/flashing lights, a fire extinguisher and a Bentley mascot. In addition to these a rear reading lamp to the nearside and a single headrest again to the nearside rear would indicate that this was a chauffeur driven car.Purchased by the vendor in 2017 for £265,000 from Royce Engineering. In 2019 he commissioned Royce Engineering to carry out extensive mechanical work, which included overhauling the front suspension and steering box, overhauling the brakes front and rear, replacement of the engine and exhaust mounts, overhauling the carburettors, supply and fit a new starter motor and carry out a major service. This work totalled £24,958.71 which was in addition to spending nearly £6,000 on the car in 2018 on interior and boot cosmetics. With invoices dating back to 1978 the comprehensive history folder makes for interesting reading. A copy of the original build sheets are in the file, showing the car was originally supplied by Jack Barclay Ltd. The Bentley S2 by H.J. Mulliner was not just a car; it was a statement of status and sophistication. The combination of Bentley’s engineering and Mulliner’s bespoke design meant that each S2 was a unique masterpiece, built to the specific desires of its owner. Today, these quintessentially British cars are highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts, admired for their timeless beauty, craftsmanship, and performance. Consigned by Stewart Banks. Based on the open two-seat AC Ace, the Aceca was a hand-built grand tourer in the British tradition, with a hand formed aluminium body and lightweight twin tubed ladder chassis used in its construction. One notable feature was the hatchback at the rear, making the Aceca only the second car, after the 1953 Aston Martin DB2/4, to incorporate this element. Built with near 50/50 weight distribution the Aceca is a beautifully handling car for its time. Our car AE513 was first registered on 27th October 1955 and was 13th off the production line. It is a very early and original right hand drive, home market example equipped with the AC straight six engine. Off the road for over 42 years, AE513 has undergone significant restoration work at huge expense bringing it back to its former glory and it is now ready to be enjoyed by the next owner, having covered just 400 miles since much restoration work was carried out.Over recent years this Aceca has benefited from a full bare metal respray in the original colour of Guardsman Blue with all original panels found to be in great shape, the engine was removed and rebuilt, and a full professional re-trim was carried out. The Range Rover is a large luxury four-wheel drive sport utility vehicle launched in 1970 and is now in its fourth-generation. In 1967, the first Range Rover prototype was built with the classic Range Rover shape clearly discernible although with a different front grille and headlight configuration. The design of the Range Rover was eventually finalised and signed off in 1969. Some 25 years after the introduction of the first-generation Range Rover, the second-generation Range Rover model designation P38 was introduced for the 1995 model year with an updated version of the Rover V8 engines. There was also the option of a 2.5 litre BMW six-cylinder turbo-diesel engine. This was a result of BMW's subsequent ownership of Rover Group and hence the Land Rover brand. The new model offered more equipment and was positioned above the Land Rover Discovery to face the increased competition in the SUV marketplace. This model was the last to feature the Rover V8 engine and interior leather supplied by Connolly who sadly went out of business in 2002.Originally registered on 9th September 1999, this Range Rover is presented in dark blue with beige leather interior and is a good workhorse. It has an LPG conversion, thus helping the fuel consumption. We are advised by the vendor that this Autobiography drives well and is very reliable. James Bond Spectre evocationLow mileage two owner exampleThe Land Rover Defender was launched in 1948 and, incredibly, production only finished in January 2016 after a continuous run of 67 years. In line for the 2012 models was the installation of a different engine, Ford decided not to modify the engine introduced in 2007 and so the engine was replaced with the ZSD-422 engine, essentially a 2.2 litre variant of the same engine.Sam Mendes, the director of both Skyfall and Spectre wanted a spectacular snow chase scene and turned to Jaguar Land Rover to assist. With the standard Land Rover 110 Defender deemed a bit too bland for a baddy’s getaway car they turned to leading Land Rover modifiers, Bowler. The firm transformed 10 standard production, Santorini Black, crew-cab 110s into the SVX Concept or Spectre Defender. The cars featured huge 37-inch tyres, heavy-duty roll cages plus toughened suspensions with rose joints and Bilstein rally dampers. A hydraulic handbrake was installed, and its lever repositioned. The engine was tuned to give 180 bhp and Recaro seats fitted. This fabulous evocation of one of the 10 cars that featured (and survived) in the James Bond film Spectre is presented correctly in black coach work with external roll cage, front winch, snorkel and expedition roof rack much like the original cars from the film. Subject to a £10,000 recent renovation and sitting on full offroad tyres this example will look as incredible in Ascot high street as it would chasing a ‘00’ down an alpine pass. • Exceptionally well maintained• Only two ownersThe E20 was manufactured between 1935 and 1939. It offered the choice of a coachbuilt saloon, Sports Saloon, Fixedhead Coupé and Drophead Coupé bodies on a notably stiff box section chassis that featured integral lubrication and jacking systems. The model was powered by an OHV straight-six engine with output of 19.3hp - sufficient for a top speed of almost 70mph. This was mated to a four-speed pre-selector gearbox via Daimler's patented fluid flywheel. Suspension was by semi-elliptic springs and beam axles all round and braking by Girling servo-assisted drums. The total production of E20s was 873, of which some 35 are known to have survived, making it a rare car today. Daimlers were the sole royal appointment cars up to 1950 and this magnificent 1936 example is very much in this tradition. This lovely Daimler E20 was originally registered on 29th July 1936. According to the current owner, it has only had two owners throughout its 80 years on the road and has covered the remarkably low mileage of 80,700 miles. The vendor purchased the car in the early 1980’s from the deceased estate of the first owner Mr. Daubney, who was the chairman of the Daimler and Lanchester Owners’ Club. As part of a wedding hire fleet, it has been registered on the V5C registration document with a couple of other keepers but has been in his ownership since its purchase. • Low mileage pristine example • Desirable well specified X358 In 2003, Jaguar introduced the re-engineered and newly designed third generation of the XJ, continuing with the XJ8 model designation. It featured an all-aluminium body and chassis, a new V8 engine, as well as greater interior and luggage spaces. It was the first Jaguar XJ to be completely designed under Ford ownership and used electronics and computer-controlled systems sourced through existing partner suppliers or directly produced by Ford. The V8 engine was offered in larger 3.5 and 4.2 litre displacements as well in a supercharged variation. A new six-speed automatic gearbox was fitted which was lighter and offered better economy with lock-up on all gears and a larger spread of ratios. Air suspension was fitted at the front and rear, providing adaptive damping as well as rear self-levelling with computer-controlled ride height and suspension mode. Jaguar launched the X358 facelift to the X350 at the end of February 2007 with a revised lower grille, prominent faux side air vents, small boot lid spoiler, and revised seating. A Jaguar emblem within the grille replaced the previous bonnet-mounted mascot. The front lights were revised and door mirrors incorporated side repeaters. The side sills, rear bumper, and taillights were revised while the interior featured redesigned front seats. This stunning example of the 4.2 litre V8 XJR was first registered on 3rd July 2008, it is presented in Pearl Grey metallic coachwork with a contrasting tan full leather interior. Optional four zone climate control was specified taking the then purchase price to £60,437. • Built with extreme attention to detail by Lamb Precision Engineering• Unique tribute to the Harry Miller built Indy cars of the 1920’s & 1930’s• Ford 4.3 litre flathead V8Harry Miller was a prominent motor racing engineer, best known for his innovative work in the early 20th century. Born in 1875, Miller made a significant impact on American motorsport, particularly in the world of open-wheel racing. He founded the Harry A. Miller Company which produced some of the most advanced racing cars of his time. Known for his craftsmanship and engineering ingenuity, Miller introduced several key innovations, including the use of supercharging and lightweight components which helped enhance both performance and reliability. Miller's cars were a fixture at prestigious events such as the Indianapolis 500, where his designs were favoured by many top drivers. His influence extended beyond the racing circuits as he played a pivotal role in advancing automotive technology. Although his career was marked by periods of financial instability, Miller's legacy lives on through the high-performance machines that are still admired by car enthusiasts and collectors worldwide. Harry Miller’s cars achieved many notable victories in various prestigious events, one of the most famous was in 1922, when the Miller-designed car, driven by Jimmy Murphy, won the Indianapolis 500. Murphy’s victory was the first time a car built by Miller’s company triumphed at America’s great race. Throughout the 1920’s and into the early 1930’s, Miller’s cars were dominant in American open-wheel racing. His machines helped drivers achieve podium finishes in various major races, including the National Championship series and other prominent events in the United States. These victories solidified Miller’s reputation as a key figure in racing engineering, influencing the design of cars for decades to come. The car we have here, the ‘Craftsman’ is a totally unique tribute to the legendary Harry Miller built Indy cars of the 1920’s & 1930’s. The car was built by Lamb Precision Engineering of Salisbury, Wiltshire, a company best known for their astonishing motorcycles, having won numerous shows worldwide for their work. It is important to note that the car is by no means a replica of any specific Miller built car but is instead a fitting tribute to the engineering and design styles of Harry Miller, built utilising modern-day technology. The car is powered by a 4.3 litre Ford flathead V8 built around an original 24-stud block and incorporates many performance parts, such as high lift camshafts, flowed and ported heads and a stroked crankshaft. The engine was built by Royal Kustoms, one of the leading specialists in flathead V8 engines. The invoices on file for the engine alone are in the region of £25,000 and it is estimated to produce around 170bhp, more than enough for such a lightweight car! The car has been fitted with a five-speed gearbox, making it eminently useable and our vendor reports it is very perky and has no trouble in modern day traffic. The bodywork is all aluminium and is of incredible quality, absolutely no corners have been cut anywhere throughout the car. Lamb Engineering developed their own Nixie tube speedometer, and the axles, brakes and hubs are all Lamb developed and manufactured in house. Miller were well known for front wheel drive and four-wheel drive race cars, the ‘Craftsman’ is rear wheel driven but Lamb have designed a geared watts linkage on the front axle, as a twist to the style of Harry Miller. Understandably, the car draws a crowd everywhere it goes, and we would highly recommend viewing as the car really needs to be seen to be fully appreciated, it is a work of art. This truly was a no expense spared labour of love build, an estimated 4,000 hours have gone into the car, as a display of what Lamb Engineering were capable of. The build was completed in 2018, only a few hundred miles have been covered since, and the car looks as good today as it would have when completed in 2018. Supplied to auction with a V5 registration document and a history file containing various invoices from the build. Sympathetic upgradesExtensively restoredThe Jaguar XK120 was manufactured between 1948 and 1954; Jaguar's first sports car since the SS100, which ceased production in 1940. The XK120 was launched in roadster form at the 1948 London Motor Show as a show car for the new Jaguar XK engine. It caused a sensation thus persuading Jaguar founder and design boss William Lyons to put the car into production. The '120' in its name referred to its 120mph top speed which made the XK120 the world's fastest standard production car at the time of its launch. It was available in two open versions; first as the roadster then also as a drophead coupé from 1953 and also as a closed, or 'fixedhead' coupé from 1951. With an alloy cylinder head and twin side-draft SU carburettors, the double overhead-cam 3.4 litre straight-six XK engine was comparatively advanced for mass-produced units of its time. The drophead we have here would have been the most expensive and rarest of the three derivatives at the time of delivery. With a properly fitting lined hood and wind-up windows, it was also the more practical option to use all year round. Extensively restored, this car has been fitted with some of the best concessions for modern motoring including electronic ignition, five-speed gearbox, front disc brakes, aluminium radiator and an alternator, to mention just a few. It is supplied with a V5C registration document together with a host of invoices. Complete with the original hard-back, owner’s book, this represents a genuine opportunity to own a rare, early Silver Shadow Coupé, used sparingly but regularly and offered in metallic grey with a matching black leather interior. It was exported back from the west coast of the US in about 2015 and the following year, a light restoration took place with, most importantly, a full strip down and repaint from blue to the current colour. Apparently, the works included refurbished chrome and some minor engine repairs although the HPI only details the colour change with the other items taken from previous sales documents. Recent recommissioning work has been completed by specialists including Neil Sandell, with invoices in the last six months totalling close to £7,000 with work on the engine, electrics and braking system as well a full service and MoT test to ensure all is running and driving well.
