An Austin J40 Roadster pedal car. The classic pedal car produced by The Austin Motor Company from 1949. Manufactured by disabled miners in South Wales. This example is in ‘barn find’ condition, but appears to be complete, although it does not display a ‘Flying A’ bonnet motif. It has been repainted dark green and has original tyres, hub caps, front & rear bumpers, dummy ‘engine’ with spark plugs and leads. Equipped with green leather seat, three wire-spoke steering wheel, horn button and facia detail. Complete with head-lights, number plates and opening boot lid. QGC, significant wear - a fine restoration project. See illustration.

A most impressive Bassett-Lowke battery powered single screw launch ‘Iolanthe’. Believed to have been produced in limited numbers during the late 1930s. This rare un restored example is finished in cream and royal blue with gold coach line towards the top of hull. Single engine ventilator to bow, with cleats and small capstans for’ard and cleats aft. Also with port & starboard lights, opening hatch providing access to the electric motor and pocket lamp batteries. Cockpit with motor control to stern, rudder control and Union Jack. Makers B-L applied label also to stern decking. Equipped with a windscreen (loose). Boxed, some wear & damage. GC-VGC for age & type. See illustration.
