Registered at 1,700 tons and at 281ft x 35ft with an 8ft draught, her two-cylinder oscillating engine could develop an impressive 16kts, which her intended career as a blockade runner carrying supplies to the Confederate cause through the ever-tightening Union stranglehold demanded, over half her internal space was given over to cargo. After several successful trips she was captured by U.S.S. Eolus and re-named Savannah in 1865. The next year she was sold to Spain and was broken up in 1885.

A FINE BUILDER'S DISPLAY MODEL OF THE ROYAL MAIL LINE TURBINE STEAMER ANDES , BUILT BY HARLAND & WOLFF LTD, BELFAST, AND MODELLED BY BASSETT-LOWKE, NORTHAMPTON, 1938 the carved hull with glazed brass port holes and lowered companionways, scored decks with wood and metal fittings as appropriate including anchors with studded chains, winches, capstans, fairleads, bollards, deck rails, ventilators, hatches, superstructure with wheel house and over-bridge with binnacle, DF aerial, range finder, passenger accommodation, deck lights, stayed funnel with ladder and hooter, engine room lights, two swimming pools, tables, tables, chairs, aft steering with helm, fourteen lifeboats in davits and other details, mounted on moulded and painted sea base with builder's plates ( rigging restored , cover missing ), overall measurements -- 29 x 91½ x 19½in. (74 x 232.5 x 49.5cm.) Andes displaced 25,689 tons gross, measured 669 feet in length with an 83½ feet beam, and was powered by her builder's own steam turbines driving twin screws to give her a maximum speed of 12 knots. Designed as a prestigious addition to the company's South American fleet, she had accommodation for 403 First and 204 Second Class passengers catered for by a crew of 451. Her maiden voyage was scheduled for 26 September 1939 to coincide with the company's centenary but the outbreak of War caused these plans to be abandoned and she was instead requisitioned for conversion into a troopship. With berths for 4,096 men, she made her first trooping voyage in December 1939 and was employed thus throughout the War. In May 1945 she took the Norwegian government-in-exile home to Oslo but was soon afterwards released from her wartime duties and extensively reconditioned by her builders for peacetime service. With altered accommodation, she commenced her commercial sailings in January 1948, making her passage from Southampton to Buenos Aires in 18 days, and thereafter settled into a regular routine which lasted 11 years. By 1959, passenger traffic had declined to the extent that she was rebuilt as a cruise liner and this final role lasted until 1971 when she was sold to Dutch ship breakers for £300,000. In a career lasting thirty-two years she had steamed 2¾million miles, and had proved herself a worthy vessel to carry the Royal Mail Line's colours almost to the end of its existence as one of the world's premier shipping lines. Provenance: This model was recently re-discovered during renovation work at The Royal Alexandra & Albert School, Reigate, when a long-locked storeroom was emptied and this model was found hidden at the back. No record of the model's existence at the school has been discovered. This lot will be available for viewing at Imperial Road
A BUILDER'S MODEL FOR THE S.S. CYANUS , BUILT BY EDWARD WITHY & CO, HARTLEPOOL FOR STEEL YOUNG & CO., LONDON, 1880 the laminated yellow pine hull lacquered below the waterline and ebonised over, with lined decks and superstructure, metal and wood fittings including deck rails, anchors with davits and winches, companionways, covered hatches, ship rigged masts with yards, spanker boom and derricks, open bridge with helm and binnacle, ventilators, stayed funnel with livery, open boxwood lifeboats in davits, deck house with water buckets, emergency helm and other details, mounted on twin brass supports to display base with inset silvered builder's plate and contained within original glazed display case with later plaque to front. Overall measurements -- 21 x 47 x 14in. (53.5 x 119.5 x 35.5cm.) The Cyanus was the first iron ship built in Hartlepool. Registered at 1,635 tons, she measured 265 x 34.4 x 16.6ft and was powered by a two cylinder compound engine made locally by T. Richardson. In 1893 she was bought by Ferguson & Reid of Glasgow. On the 9th February 1897 she was en-route from Bilbao carrying iron ore when, at 10pm, she struck some rocks near Ile de Sein, Ushant in thick fog and foundered so quickly none of the boats could be launched. Twenty of her crew were drowned with a single survivor - the lookout, one Laurence Nicholson - found by local fishermen clinging to an upturned boat at 9am the following day. This model remains in fine and original condition and is interesting for having the transitional sail-steam fully rigged masts with yards and spanker booms, at over 1,600 tons it would require a stiff breeze to enable her to make much headway and they were really there to give confidence to the crew and handful of passengers she may have carried. This lot will be available for viewing at Imperial Road
A FINE BUILDER'S MODEL OF THE M.V. BONNINGTON COURT , BUILT BY R. DUNCAN & CO., GLASGOW FOR THE COURT LINE, 1929 the laminated carved hull finished in red and pink with ebonised top sides with silvered propeller and lowered companionway, lacquered boxwood decks and superstructure with lining, silver plated fittings including deck rails, anchors with chains and winches, awning stanchions, companionways, bitts, bollards, white painted masts and derricks rigged with blocks, enclosed bridge with fitted over bridge and wings with lamps, fitted boats in davits, stayed funnel, engine room lights, covered holds, exposed rudder-head quadrant and steering chains, and other details, mounted on oxidised brass supports to plush-line display base with ivorine builder's plate within original glazed wooden case. Overall measurements -- 20 x 60 x 15½in. (51 x 152.5 x 39.5cm.) Registered at 4,909 tons and 405½ x 55½ x 25¾ft, Bonnington Court was a large merchantman for her day and and early adopter of oil instead of coal. On the 19th January 1941 she was between Harwich and the Tyne with a general mixed cargo when she was caught by the Luftwaffe whose bombs set her ablaze before she sank with the loss of two crew. This lot will be available for viewing at Imperial Road

A 1972 Lotus Elan Plus 2S/130, registration number YOD 103K, chassis number 72060757L, engine number P26914, bronze/silver. Introduced by Lotus in 1967 the Plus 2 was a move by Colin Chapman to elevate the Elan to a higher level. The new car featured a longer wheelbase chassis and true 2+2 seating. In period the car was advertised: 'For the discerning motorist who requires renowed Lotus handling and performance coupled to an attractive 2+2 body'. This is achieved in spades with the new body being very elegant and in some peoples eyes more attractive than the original Elan. This two owner Plus 2 comes direct from a deceased estate. In the current ownership since June 1987. The Elan was originally registered UUO 888 left the factory painted bright red. The original owner had the colour changed to its current bronze and silver because he felt that the original colour was too noticeable on the open road. Since being acquired by the second (deceased) owner a chartered engineer, a programme of refurbishment was carried out rebuilding the car around a new Spyder chassis. We are advised that all mechanical components were replaced or refurbished to a high standard. The engine was rebuilt using components supplied by Paul Matty Sports Cars and Quorn Engineering Developments. The starter motor was replaced with a high torque example, uprated drive shafts were fitted, Luminitition electronic ignition was installed and the seats have been re-upholstered in black leather. Since this work was carried out the Lotus has covered approximately 1,500 miles. The Elan would benefit from a respray to bring the coachwork up to the standard of the rest of the car. YOD 103K passed its last MOT on 22nd September 2017 without any advisories, but due to little use and being in dry storage since it is advised that the car will require light recommissioning and checking over before taking to the road. The Elan will be offered for auction with service history, receipts, photographs and numerous spare parts. V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations
A 1991 Lotus 7 evocation, Isle of Man registered, chassis number 001C9203048, green. This is the second car to be offered from the I.O.M collection. Originally constructed in South Africa when Dr Prestwich resided there and subsequently imported to the island in 2000. Presented in green with a black interior, this Lotus inspired sports car is powered by a Kent pre-cross flow 1600cc engine (not a Ford Pinto engine) breathing through a single Weber carburettor, has an aluminium body and sits on alloy wheels. We are advised that the car is running and driving but due to its time in storage some recommissioning will be required. The car is offered for auction with the I.O.M. Vehicle Registration Certificate and sundry paperwork. No MOT See illustrations
A 1949 Tatra T600 Tatraplan project, unregistered, chassis number 70632, engine number 550, silver. This extremely rare T600 is one of only 2100 produced between 1948 and 1951, with very few examples surviving today. The T600 is a slightly smaller version of the famous pre-war teardrop shaped Hans Ledwinka designed streamliner saloon with the distinctive Tatra rear fin emerging from the sloping roofline. The newly developed aerodynamic car featured a two litre OHV four cylinder engine, positioned behind the rear axle, four speed gearbox and a body shape based on the earlier T97, but with air vents removed from the sides and repositioned to the roof and the distinctive rear stabilising fin becoming smaller. This car comes from a private collection having been acquired in the mid 1980s and has been in dry storage since awaiting restoration. The T600 is able to run and move with the aid of a slave fuel supply and hot-wired ignition. The interior is finished in brown ***leatherette (not leather)*** which is dirty, the dashboard is appears complete with all gauges but will require cleaning, servicing or restoration as necessary. The body appears original with some rust and corrosion apparent in certain areas, most evident in the bottoms of the doors. The paintwork is flaking in various areas and will require respraying. Our vendor advises us that the person he purchased the car from believed the car was used as a Czech Embassy car, but unfortunately there is no documentation to confirm this. He also advises us that the car has been magazine featured at some point. This cold-war and extremely rare car is now reluctantly for sale because our vendor feels that he is unlikely to restore it due to other projects and advancing age. Unregistered, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations

A 1960 Fairthorpe Electron Minor project, registration number 147 HNY, chassis number 4035, red. Fairthorpe was the brainchild of Air Vice Marshall D.C.T. Bennett, CB, CBE, DSO, who had the vision to create a low cost sports car. This he did to great success selling over 500 cars in both complete and kit form to beat the government purchase tax on new cars. This example has been family owned from new and has been in storage since the early 1970s. Covered in decades of dust, this original car is fitted with an aftermarket hard top and disc front brakes, but the most exciting addition to the car is a Shorrock supercharger for much improved performance. To this end we are advised by our vendor that his uncle drove the little car at 100mph with two passengers! We are further advised that the engine was running approximately five years ago, but the Electron now needs a full restoration. These Fairthorpes are exceedingly popular in historic racing and this example once restored would find favour at many historic race meetings. V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustration
A 1980 MG Midget 1500, registration number NYA 246V, chassis number GAN6-209147G, engine number FP60140E, British Racing green. The MG Midget is a no frills two seater sports car introduced in 1961 as an upmarket version of its Austin Healey Sprite sibling. The MG would remain in production until 1979 with various engine upgrades and subtle body improvements. This car was restored by our vendor between 1992 and 1995. There are numerous images of the restoration contained in an album showing various stages from the initial strip down to completion. When it came to respray the restored bodyshell, the decision was taken to change the colour from its original light blue to British racing green. Since the completion of the restoration the MG has been used very sparingly incurring a very low annual mileage. Expenditure on maintenance has included the fitting of a new clutch in 2011 (approximately 200 miles ago). The MG will be offered for sale with a history file containing the photograph album, receipts for the restoration (approximately £5,800), maintenance receipts and previous MOTs. Now reluctantly for sale due to health reasons this well presented and cherished Midget offers classic MG motoring at an affordable price. V5C, MOT to December 2018 See illustration
A 1961 Austin Mini Se7en project, registration number YJB 626, chassis number AA2S7 134958 engine number AA2S7 187477, blue. This early production Austin Mini is a great find having languished in a Somerset barn for years. We are advised that the Mini rolls freely and is original. It still retains its factory supplied engine and blue brocade interior. Restoration projects which are still in original untouched condition are becoming increasingly hard to find and this car which is offered for auction with its original RF60, V5 and ***a letter from the British Mini Club confirming build information (not a Heritage Certificate)*** offers an excellent basis for a restoration. V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustration
A 1958 Land Rover Series II 88 inch SWB Station Wagon, registration number YOG 306, chassis number 1428-00002, engine number P2.25/64, cream. This rare car with an interesting background has a certified BMI Heritage Trust build date of 24th March 1958 making it one of the very first S2s off the production line. The car was kept by the Rover Company Ltd itself and thus is a rather special find. Currently part of a local collection the car has been well maintained and has been living in a dehumidified and heated garage. Works carried out by the current owner have included a replacement galvanised chassis with associated restoration works, engine-out overhaul, full rewire, brake overhaul and fuel tank replacement with receipts for over £12,500. This early S2 with original prototype 2.25 litre petrol engine and retaining its original Birmingham registration number will offer the next custodian a rare opportunity to enjoy a piece of well-presented S2 history. V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations

Originally unveiled at the prestigious Tokyo Motor Show in 1997, the Paul Smith limited edition was part of the Great Mini Collection which also featured David Bowie's chromed Mini and Kate Moss's Webb version. The Paul Smith Mini has a world wide production run of 1800 with only 300 available on the British market featuring the distinctive blue coachwork which was by repute modelled on the colour of Paul's shirt which he wore at the meeting to discuss the design with Rover. The rest of the production run features less striking Old English white or Anthracite black paintwork. Other distinctive features of the Paul Smith edition are the citrus green rocker cover, HT leads, and inside of the glove box painted green, petrol tank and boot boards. Further enhancements include the 24ct gold plated bonnet badge, black leather upholstery, special boot badge, front fog lamps and a denim tool roll. This well presented example has been restored by the previous owner which started in 2006 with the bodywork being rebuilt and resprayed at a cost of nearly £6,000, the wheels were refurbished, new chrome work and a new clutch was fitted. The black leather remains original and is in good condition. Since completion the Mini has attended shows and rallies and has covered a low mileage in the current ownership. Still presenting well this rare limited edition Mini will be offered for auction with a history file containing Paul Smith advertising memorabilia including a rare un-opened camera, gift bags, sales brochures, receipts and previous MOTs. This very original and low mileage (66,800 miles from new) 380SL has had three previous keepers prior to our vendor purchasing the Mercedes from Dick Lovett in 1997. Finished in silver with a contrasting brown tex and check cloth interior with matching chocolate brown softtop it is described by our vendor as being in very good condition in all respects and is only for sale as our vendor is not using the car sufficiently (covering only a few miles each year). R107 series cars have seen a steep rise in value in recent years and this example, with its low mileage and ownership will look good in any collection. V5C, MOT to May 2019 See illustrations

One of only 2501 made, this 1800 Roadster was originally registered AEE 808 on 27th September 1947 and painted red. TRD 1170 came into our vendors possession in the 1970s remaining in storage before a full restoration was carried out between 1984 and 1995 with numerous photographs and receipts outlining various stages of the restoration from the initial strip down to completion. When the time came to respray the Triumph the decision was made to change the colour from its original red to Gunmetal grey (a period correct colour), the interior was retrimmed in blue/grey leather and the hood was renewed in double duck canvas. From long term ownership this well documented and restored 1800 Roadster will be offered with a large history file containing photographs, numerous receipts, past MOTs, DVLA correspondence, Triumph Roadster Club drivers instruction book, sales brochure (re-print), original owners handbook, RF60, V5 and sundry paperwork. Having only covered a small annual mileage in recent years our vendor has decided to sell the Triumph and allow a new custodian to enjoy this charming car. RF60, V5, V5C, MOT and tax exempt See illustrations
A 1989 Bentley Turbo R, registration number E10 SAK, chassis number SCBZR04A1KCH26747, engine number 67412L4101T/1, Old English white. With 400 bhp and a 0-60 time of around 6 seconds the Turbo R has more in common with a sports car than a luxury saloon. Manufactured between 1985-1992 the R stood for road holding and featured revised suspension and wider tyres on alloy wheels. The interior remained a place of bespoke opulence with all the refinements the owner of a car of this calibre could wish for. Little is known of the earlier history of this Bentley before it came into the possession of our vendor in 2012. Forming part of a private collection the Bentley has been maintained by our vendor's transport company, being used for the occasional wedding and school prom when not being used for pleasure motoring. Finished in Old English white with a contrasting tan leather interior and sitting on alloy wheels, this Bentley is now only for sale so our vendor can free up some much needed room to concentrate on his Austin Seven projects. A 1970 Morris Minor Traveller, registration number XOT 348J, almond green. The ever popular Traveller makes a practical starter classic with excellent parts availability, specialist repair services and club support. This car comes from long term enthusiast ownership. The Traveller was restored approximately twenty years ago by our vendor incorporating some performance and safety upgrades. These included the installation of a 1300cc Marina engine, servo assisted front brakes with remote reservoir, an alternator for improved and reliable electrics and inertia front seat belts. This tax and MOT exempt Traveller is finished in one of the best colour combinations of almond green with a porcelain green interior and will be offered for auction with some service history. 1971 Triumph Vitesse Mk II convertible, 1998 cc. Registration number WTV 451J (NO PAPERWORK). Chassis number HC57592 CV. Engine number TBC. The Triumph Vitesse was produced from May 1962 until July 1971; it was an in-line 6-cylinder performance version of the Herald saloon. The Herald had been introduced on 22nd April 1959 and was a 2-door car styled by the Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti. By the early 1960s, however, Triumph began to give thought to a sports saloon, based on the Herald and using their 6-cylinder engine. Michelotti was again approached for styling and he came up with a car that used almost all body panels from the Herald, combined with a new front end with a slanted "Chinese Eye" 4-headlamp design. The Vitesse sold extremely well for Triumph. The car was well liked for its performance, reasonable fuel economy and the well-appointed interior. The Vitesse had few rivals for the price; able to perform as well as many sports cars, but with room for a family. The convertible in particular was virtually unique in the marketplace and another genuine 4-seater sporting convertible would not reappear from a British manufacturer until the Triumph Stag several years further down the line. The Mark II was launched in October 1968 as the final update to the range, intended to be Triumph's answer to growing criticism of the rear suspension, it was fitted with a redesigned layout using new lower wishbones and Rotoflex half-shaft couplings, a system it shared with the GT6. The engine was upgraded and both the interior and exterior received tweaks. This was the ultimate Vitesse, a saloon or convertible with performance superior to the MGB and the Sunbeam Alpine sports car (in both acceleration and top speed) but with four proper seats (as long as the rear passengers were not too tall) and a large boot. Contemporary testing in the UK press listed the Vitesse's 0-70mph time as 15.0 seconds against 17.9 for both the MGBGT and the Sunbeam Alpine Series IV. This Saffron Yellow example, believed to be the 527th from last produced of a run of 3,472, was bought to be restored some 20 years ago and stripped down with some new second hand panels being obtained. These have been stored in a separate dry garage and unfortunately the Vitesse has now suffered with the collapse of its garage roof. It is registered with DVLA and recorded as being first registered in March 1971 and was last taxed in 1986. There is a large quantity of spare parts that have been assembled for the restoration with this lot, buyers should make themselves aware of what there is. There is no paperwork with this lot and buyers should ensure they have inspected what comes with the vehicle.
1953 Triumph Mayflower, 1247 cc. Registration STN 336. Chassis number TT 32864 DL. Body number 5386 59. Engine number TT 33919. The Mayflower was a four-seater family car powered by a 1247 cc side-valve engine through a three-speed, column-change gearbox. It had 'Razor Edge' styling, like its big brother the Renown, mimicking the style of the Rolls Royce of the period (hence its nicknames: the "poor man's Rolls Royce", or the "baby Rolls Royce"). It is thought that Sir John Black styled the car to appeal to the American market, with the name 'Mayflower' being chosen for this reason. Even the bonnet catch was designed with an integral emblem of the ship of the same name; a reference to the 'Pilgrim Fathers'. The engine is a modified version of that fitted to the Standard Ten and boasted an aluminium cylinder head. With the single Solex carburettor, it created 38 bhp. The gearbox came from the Standard Vanguard, having synchromesh on all forward gears. The body was designed at 'Mulliners of Birmingham', and the body shells were built by 'Fisher and Ludlow' at Castle Bromwich, Birmingham. It was the first car to be manufactured - by either Standard or Triumph - with 'unitary construction' (i.e. consisting of an integral chassis and body, rather than a body bolted onto a separate chassis). Around 34,000 were made in the four-year production run, with around 16,400 being sold in the UK; the rest being sold mostly to commonwealth countries with only 510 going to its intended American market. This example was first registered on the 11th June 1953 to a lady school teacher in the Preston area, she retained her, laying her up in 1971 with a mileage of 25,809. In 1973 John Hanks of Benton Car Sales, Newcastle upon Tyne bought her. In 1973 he removed the engine for a rebore, new pistons and a crankshaft reground; the mileage was 25,900. It was rarely used and again stored until 1983 when it went for an MOT at 26,445 miles In 2002 an attempt to sell it to a gentleman in Hamburg resulted in another MOT at 26,528 miles; this fell through and my vendor bought her in September 2004. He has not used her, the mileage today is 26,567, although he has carried out some minor recommissioning including the radiator was removed and flushed, replaced heater and radiator hoses, lubed and greased nipples, wax oiled, fitted with new hand brake cable and master cylinder but neither are connected. Sold with the V5C, 1985 and 2002 MOT's, tax discs from 1972, 1974 and 1977, assorted paperwork, handbook, parts books/manuals and the following, jack, tool kit, starting handle, spare wheel and a new, unfitted exhaust.
