Hinged cover for matches with slight bend. Hinges good. Marks good. Some age wear.
A Russian silver vodka beaker, bearing coat of arms and having engine turned decoration, 3.1oz, with 84 silver assay and stamped Shanks & Co, h.7.5cm. Note; Shanks & Co were English retailers in Moscow, founded in 1852. Between 1880-1916 they were located at 3 Kuznevski Most. Le Outlet Magasin Anglais (the English Shop) was founded by James Shanks (1826-1911), the second son of the coachmaker Robert Shanks. The shop sold women's accessories such as handbags, furs, fans and gloves, fabric for clothing, carpets, silverware and jewellery. Some items were made by the House of Bolin. Items of silver were commissioned from the silversmith workshops of Maria Ivanovnalinke and were sold by the silverware division of the shop.
