A French Louis Phillipe ormolu figural mantel clock on musical stand, the eight-day bell-striking movement with engine-turned silvered Roman numeral dial, in chased gilt and parcel silvered case depicting Mazeppa tied to the back of a horse leaping over a leafy knoll, the base with foliate cast borders on scroll feet, 45cm high; the separate inlaid rosewood stand containing a musical box. The subject of this clock is based upon a woodcut first published in 1838 to advertise the production of 'Mazeppa' with Mr West Jnr in the title role.

A French month-going mantel regulator circa 1820, in later mahogany four-glass case, the circular movement with external pinwheel escapement on the backplate, outside countwheel strike and substantial grid-iron compensated pendulum, the convex Roman numeral enamel dial signed 'Gravant A Paris', with centre seconds within fine engine-turned gilt bezel, the plinth form case with ebonised mouldings and fluted uprights, on stepped plinth base, 51cm high.
