A fine Victorian Waltham 18ct yellow gold chrongraph full hunter pocket watch, the white enamel dial with black Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds dial and centre chronograph seconds hand. The reverse side with glass display cover to the movement, signed and numbered 2343991. The outer case with engine turned decoration, with gold inner cover, all stamped 18K and numbered M7444, with chrono button to the side. 142.8 grams. 51 mm case.Condition report: In excellent fully working condition, no notable damage.
A fine quality scratch built scale model of a coal powered traction engine, in a wood and glass presentation case, with moving parts, finished in green and red, the boiler plate reading 'The KLJ 1974', the engine 44.5cm long, rear wheel diameter 15.5cm, case measuring 47 cm high x 60 cm x 30 cm.Condition report: The engine appears to be in good order throughout, with no obvious faults visible. The display case will require tightening up to keep the glass in place more securely.
TREDGOLD, Thomas (1788-1829). The Steam Engine. Its Invention and an Investigation of its Principles, for Navigation, Manufacturers, and Railways ... Enlarged and Edited by W. S. B. Woolhouse. London: John Weale, 1838. 2 volumes, 4to (303 x 240mm). Engraved portrait of the author, 124 engraved plates, many double-page or folding (some spotting and staining). Contemporary cloth-backed boards (rather worn). The second volume has 2 title pages, one stating "Vol. I", the other "Vol. II." The first of these states "In Two Volumes with one hundred and twenty-five engravings ..." The plate numbering is equally eccentric in both volumes, but the total plate count does come to 125 including the engraved portrait. With Daniel Kinnear Clark's Railway Locomotives: Their Progress, Mechanical Construction and Performance; with the Recent Practice in England and America (Glasgow, 1860, 2 vols. bound in one, plates, lacks plate 36, contemporary morocco-backed boards). The lot sold not subject to return. (3)
A 19TH CENTURY 18CT GOLD OPEN FACE POCKET WATCH, the circular white dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds dial, to a key wind movement signed P. Gill & Son, Aberdeen, numbered 16530, the case with engine-turned decoration, (hallmarks rubbed, glass loose), case diameter 4.9cm Condition report: Dial – mostly good but with a faint hairline to right side of subsidiary dial. Glass is loose from case and has scuffs and scratch marks. Case - knife marks, scratches and chips to sides of case at front and back, engine turning is worn, age related marks and scuffs throughout. Case maker’s initials ‘JB’. Back cover hinge is fairly tight, with slight play. Hallmarks and maker’s marks are rubbed. Movement winds and runs but has not been tested and working order cannot be guaranteed. Outside diameter of case approx. 4.9cm. Gross weight approx. 104gm.
A GEORGE IV SILVER RECTANGULAR VINAIGRETTE, with engine turned decoration and pierced gilt grille, by Charles Rawlings, London 1825, 3.5cm, together with a Victorian silver small vinaigrette, engraved with scrolling foliage, by Alfred Taylor, Birmingham 1856, 2.4cm, and another by Hilliard & Thomason, Birmingham 1886, 3cm (3) Condition report: Charles Rawlings vinaigrette is a bit worn, with a slight dent to the base. Hinge and grille hinge both a bit loose/wobbly, with some old repair.
A SILVER AND ENAMEL RECTANGULAR COMPACT, the engine turned box with pale orange guilloche enamel cover, and fitted interior, import marks for H.C. Freeman Ltd, London 1927, 5.5cm, together with a silver and black enamel cigarette case, also with import marks for H.C. Freeman Ltd, London 1926, 7.8cm, 4.5oz (2) Condition report: orange enamel chipped and damaged to front right area. Minor dings and scratches. Black one has some damage to the enamel on edges of the back, and some scratches.
A MID VICTORIAN SILVER RECTANGULAR VINAIGRETTE, with foliate engraved decoration and pierced gilt grille, by Edward Smith, Birmingham 1853, 3cm long; a silver rectangular snuff box, with engine turned decoration, Chester 1918, 5.3cm, a silver vesta case, and two silver cigarette cases, approximately 7oz (5) Condition report: all in good condition except for the smaller cig case, which is dented and pushed to both sides.
A SILVER HEART SHAPED COMPACT, with engine turned decoration, by Broadway & Co, Birmingham 1953, 8.3cm, another silver circular compact, London 1947, a late Victorian silver aide memoire, London 1895, and a silver card case (4) Condition report: heart shaped compact has a small dent to the lid. Minor further dings and scratches to both compacts. Aide memoire ok overall, minor scratches. Card case a bit dented and misshapen.

A SILVER RECTANGULAR CIGARETTE BOX, with engine turned decoration, by William Adams Ltd, Birmingham 1932, 16.5cm wide, and two further silver cigarette boxes, one by Mappin & Webb, London 1950, 17cm, the other by Charles S Green & Co, Birmingham 1913, 12.5cm (3) Condition report: all have several minor dings and scratches, one has engraved initials. Marks a bit worn on the smallest.
A 15CT GOLD POWDER COMPACT, of square form, with banded and engine turned decoration, and having diamond set thumbpiece (one stone lacking) by Frederick Thomas Buckthorpe, London 1921, 9cm wide, 210g Condition report: good overall condition. The clasp is missing one stone. Minor surface scratches. On the inside the mirror is loose, and the frame which holds it in place a bit bent/misshapen.
