Ampthill and District ( Bedfordshire UK ) :A collection of original, larger monochrome glass plate photographic negatives ( measuring 16.5cm by 12cm. ) featuring local scenes of Ampthill and other locations nearby, dating from the early 20th.C. Images include a number of street scenes in Ampthill, Wrest Park, Houghton House, nearby villages ( inc. Maulden, Steppingley), local residents with contemporary vehicles and motorcycles, the local fire-brigade with full kit and 'emergency' vehicle, church harvest festival, road accident featuring a traction engine, steam train together with other scenes in 45+ plates. The plates are stored in a purpose-built wooden box and are generally in very good condition. CONDITION REPORT: Two plates partially broken.
