The car appears to not be registered presently with the DVLA, although there is correspondence with them regarding retaining the number 991 CAT. A green RF60 registration document and a quantity of related papers are provided with the vehicle. 1982 Peugeot 102 50cc moped Registration Number: ADV 537X Frame Number: 9169618 Engine Number: 7814624 Aside from a baguette, a string of onions and a stripey jumper, is there anything more 'French' than a spindly moped? The aggravated buzz of an underpowered 2-stroke motor, accompanied by frantic pedalling and a wonderfully pungent and lingering oily haze was a part of town and village life throughout France for many decades. Young or old the moped brought much-needed, affordable transport to the masses and linked communities. In red with striped ‘102’ graphics, this example of Peugeot’s popular 49cc model is in good order throughout and was MOT-tested and last used during 2022. UK-registered with a correct age-related number, it is now MOT and tax exempt as a historic vehicle. Reported to be extremely fun to ride, it has, however, seen little use in the last 12 months and will require some light recommissioning prior to use. Condition ReportWe are happy to offer our opinion as to the integrity of the vehicle at the sale, however you should accept this is an opinion only and should not be relied upon. In short, you should satisfy yourself as to the completeness, condition and integrity of any lot prior to bidding.
1998 Jaguar XK8 Roadster Registration Number: R232 FNB Chassis Number: SAJJGAFD3AR026666 Engine Number: CC9803040330 Mileage: 45,762 Launched in 1996 by Jaguar Cars, this was the first in the new series of XK cars, available in two-door coupé or two-door convertible body styles, with the new 4.0-litre Jaguar AJ-V8 engine. The first-generation of the XK series shares its XJS-derived platform with the Aston Martin DB7 and includes Jaguar's independent rear suspension, also taken from the XJS. This much-cared-for XK8 is finished in sapphire blue with an ivory leather interior and walnut dash, electric roof, and has been in the current ownership for the last nine years, recording only 45,762 miles at the last MOT on 20 April 2024. The 4.0 V8 produces 290hp and is said to achieve 0-60 in 6.4 secs, through a 5-speed automatic transmission, and has been maintained meticulously by the current vendor, who was a garage owner for many years. Condition ReportWe are happy to offer our opinion as to the integrity of the vehicle at the sale, however you should accept this is an opinion only and should not be relied upon. In short, you should satisfy yourself as to the completeness, condition and integrity of any lot prior to bidding. There is a small scratch on the drivers side rear quarter panel, a blemish on the bonnet and some expected very small stone chips, also some small under paint corrosion along the lower edge of the nearside rear quarter panel. These are areas to note, but overall the car looks very tidy. Some marks on alloy wheels and osmosis, but again only noted on close scrutiny. There are no marks on the bumper corners, which is nice to see. The car has no reported notes in the log-book about any recall, i am told these early engines on;y developed problesms in the first 15-20,000 miles, if they were going to fail. If they didn't develop problems by this mileage, they usually didn't. This car has no reported problems and starts on the button. The vendor reports that the car had done 38,000 miles when he bought it and has had no issues. The electric hood works well and the car will be on view and electrics can be tested.
1995 Ferrari 500 Mondial Replica Registration Number: RAB 500V (RAB 500 for show purposes only)Chassis Number: 0508 MDEngine Number: 0508 MDThe 2-litre Mondial was developed by Ferrari alongside the 3-litre Monza and was similar in design to the type 735, with chassis based on the 250 Mille Miglia. The prototype car's bodywork was by Scaglietti and set the coachwork standard for the 750 Monza and later Mondials. The prototype 500 Mondial first appeared in the sports car race at Casablanca driven by Ascari and Picard, finishing in second place behind a much larger 4.5-litre Ferrari.Based on one of the three prototypes built by Stan Daniel, this car was assembled by David Gurnham MBE around a new chassis, closely echoing that of the original Mondial. In order that the car followed the design of the original as closely as possible, mechanicals were selectively chosen for their proximity to the original concept, whilst retaining relative ease of the availability of spares. The registration document gives identity to the majority of mechanical components by showing the car as registered as an Alfa Romeo. As such, the engine is a Lampredi-designed 2-litre from a 1979 Alfa Romeo, which closely follows his Ferrari design. The transaxle is Alfa and the suspension De Dion with all-round disc brakes, inboard at the rear. The engine was stripped and rebuilt by Dave Arnold, and on inspection showed almost no wear at all, with the bores requiring little other than glaze busting. New rings and bearings were installed, as were new timing chain and gears, with any other parts showing wear being replaced and the engine reassembled. The Dellorto carburettors were reconditioned and an exhaust fabricated to emulate the original by Philbrands of Tamworth. The fibreglass body is exceptional in quality and very, very convincing. Constructed by Transformer Cars, it has been expertly painted Rosso Corsa by Peters and Hales of Minworth. Adding to the deception, the car is very well detailed, with period-type seats, instruments, steering wheel and wrap-around Perspex windscreen. The gear lever is detailed down to the aluminium gate with reverse lock-out, and generally the car bears very close inspection, right down to the Ferrari-style chassis plate. The test of any faithful replica is the cohesiveness of the build. Not only should it look the part, echoing the original in as many ways as possible, it should not be over or under engined, and not use blatantly incorrect design or components in its build. With a tubular chassis and 2-litre aluminium twin-cam engine and transaxle which is estimated to produce a healthy 170hp, this car sticks faithfully to the original design, whilst not stepping into today's price realms for original examples.Condition ReportWe are happy to offer our opinion as to the integrity of the vehicle at the sale, however you should accept this is an opinion only and should not be relied upon. In short, you should satisfy yourself as to the completeness, condition and integrity of any lot prior to bidding. We started this car today, which has been little used for the last 10 years, warmed up nicely and drove well, but i sense would drive even better if recommissioned, given the issue with modern fuels which can gum up the jets in the carburettors. The car was created from a kit in 1995, but the donor car dates from 1979, so is MOT and Tax exempt, so could be insured and driven legally, subject to registering as a historic vehicle with the tax office. Any car that has not been driven for a long time will need recommissioning. Sadly, we know little about the replica company, only that the running gear is all Alfa-Romeo.The car has some surface micro-blistering to the paintwork, but as far as is possible to note, the car is starting and driving as expected, subject to recommissioning as already stated.
A fine and rare pair of South Staffordshire enamelled opaque white glass tea bottles and enamel covers, circa 1755-60By the 'swirled flowers' painter, of shouldered rectangular form with canted corners, painted to the front with a landscape vignette depicting a goldfinch perched on a leafy branch below a purple scrollwork cartouche, respectively inscribed 'BOHEA' and 'GREEN' in black enamel, the reverses with a colourful bouquet of flowers including roses, the sides of both with sprays of flowers in pink and blue respectively, all surrounded by scattered sprigs, the enamel covers both painted with a gallant playing a flute before a seated lady, with engine-turned gilt-metal mounts, 14.2cm high (4)Footnotes:ProvenanceGeorge Lockett CollectionSir Hugh Dawson CollectionWith Delomosne and Son, February 1983Christie's, 14 May 2003, lot 278Bayreuth CollectionLiteratureR J Charleston, English Glass (1984), pl.45bAndy McConnell, The Decanter: Ancient to Modern (2018), p.102, no.1ExhibitedDelomosne and Son, Gilding the Lily, 1978, no.4These tea bottles or canisters belong to a group of opaque white glass enamelled with distinctive floral decoration characterised by a series of turbulent curves and flicks, termed 'swirled flowers' by W A Thorpe. This includes a series of tea bottles of this type, painted with a goldfinch or bullfinch beneath the name of the tea in a scrolled cartouche. This style of painting on opaque white glass was once attributed to Bristol, primarily on the basis of family traditions relating to the painter Michael Edkins. However, a number of features point instead to a South Staffordshire origin, including the enamel fittings associated with many of these pieces, such as the caps on the present lot. This is discussed in detail by R J Charleston in Delomosne and Sons exhibition catalogue, Gilding the Lily (1978), p.7. It is possible that this distinctive group of enamelled glass may have been made in the Birmingham workshop of the 'toymaker' John Wood, who is known to have collaborated with the Aston glassmaker Holte Bridgeman.Another pair of opaque white glass tea bottles for 'GREEN' and 'BOHEA' was sold by Christie's on 24 November 1987, lot 76. A comparable tea bottle for 'GREEN', enamelled instead with a bullfinch, is in the Victoria and Albert Museum together with a similar example for 'BOHEA' (inv. nos.5288&A-1901 and 414:1380-1885). A single tea bottle for 'BOHEA' painted with a bullfinch was also in the James Hall Collection, sold by Bonhams on 17 December 2008, lot 108.For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com

AN EARLY 19TH CENTURY THREE COLOUR GOLD BOX, POSSIBLY FRENCH The straight sided oblong box with rounded ends decorated with three colour gold scrolled foliate borders, the panels with engine turned dot and flower head decoration upon a scrolled ground, the interior with a later engraved crest of a lions head within garter inscribed with SUAVITER ET FORTITER, with rubbed partial marks Size/dimensions: 9.2 x 3.5 x 2.2cm Gross weight: 104 grams Condition Report: A lion's head is a very common charge for a crest and as a result there are many families who use similar crests. On this occasion the image shows a collar, which appears to be charged by three mascles (voided lozenges). There is one example we can find of its use and that is for the family of SLOANE of Middlesex. The corresponding blazon is: a lion's head erased or collared with mascles interlaced sable. Unfortunately we are unable to be able to find a motto for this family's arms. Research into this motto has discovered only one family using this specific motto and that is ELLIOT-MURRAY-KYNYNMOUND, the Earls Minto. Unfortunately the earl himself does not use a crest with a lion's head. So if this is a family piece we would have to assume that it belonged to a minor member of the family. However this is not ruled out as a out as a possibility. Partial marks obscured, hinge good, cover sits well, this is likely to be a higher carat gold, but due to the destructive nature of the test are are unable to confirm, light scratches and wear commensurate with age and use Condition Report Disclaimer

There is light scuffing and scratches to the outer borders of the frame, some polish marks. The frames are pinned onto a wooden base, all pins are present, some are slightly more raised than others. There is some small chipping to the outside of the glazed panels, but mostly hidden by the frames, only noticeable under close inspection. A very light scratch to one glazed panel. There are some marks to the wooden backs. Both frames have makers marks, one has a partial hallmark and the maker’s mark is slightly rubbed.Condition Report Disclaimer
