The tapered support with balance beam, crank fitted to large flywheel 20in in diameter with Watts style parallel action to piston rod with fitted steam direction lever. Provenance: From Maddington Church nr Stonehenge built by Chittern. No value, engine atmospheric sucks air out. Believed to have been built before James Watt. Provenance details supplied by vendor.

A well engineered Stuart Turner model Williamson live steam vertical column barn engine, built by Mr V E Judd of Ickenham. This model by Tubal Cain is a replica of a vertical engine made in the last century by the Kendal firm of Williamson Brothers. The cylinder with 5/8in bore by 1 1/8in stroke, spoked flywheel, open crank and guides set in reeded column, eccentric operated steam valve, cast architectural pediment supporting display ball governor. The model is finished in red, blue and green paintwork. Height 254mm.

A well engineered model of the W A Coomber rotary live steam engine, built by Mr V E Judd of Ickenham from Brunnell Models castings. The original engine was designed by W A Coomber of Birmingham in 1876 and was re-designed for model engineering by Tubal Cain. The central revolving cylinder set in an eccentric ring supporting speed governor with linkage to steam shut off valve, spoked flywheel with fitted drive pulley. The model is finished in red, blue and green paintwork being set on a polished mahogany plinth. 26cm high by 18cm wide including plinth.

A 2 1/2in gauge Carsons 4-4-0 Locomotive and tender, being a reconstruction project. Rolling chassis and tender complete with copper boiler tube installed but not finished. This engine is believed to have been originally spirit fired. On display track. Total length 79cm.

An Well engineered 3 1/2 in gauge 2-6-2 Lew Lynton and Barnstaple Tank Locomotive No 188, built by Mr C Foxwell of Street in Somerset in 1996 from designs by Les Warnett and College Engineering castings. The original full size engine was built for use on the North Devon line in 1925. The silver soldered copper boiler with fittings including water and pressure gauges, safety valve, whistle, clack and blow down plug. Chassis detail including twin outside cylinders approximately 1 3/4in bore x 2 1/2in stroke, Joy valve gear, brightwork motion, oil lubricator and oil cups. Cow catcher fitted. Cab controls with regulator, pressure gauge, sight glass, drain cock lever and hand feed pump. The locomotive finished in Southern green and black livery with fitted steps and hand rails. 16in (41cm) high, excluding tender 51in (130cm) long, 12in (31cm) deep. Boiler History: None available. We do know that the locomotive was run and tested by the West Huntspill MES. Somerset in recent years. The locomotive is at present gas fired for ease of driving and comes with a choice of cab tops. It has its original fire grates and can be easily converted back to coal firing. Also with the model is a traditional wagon style tender with fitted hand feed pump.

An Exhibition Standard 5 in gauge Bayer Peacock 2-4-0 Isle of Man Narrow Gauge Locomotive No 6 Peveril, built by Mr Alec Hadfield of Sidmouth from castings and drawings supplied by Ashdowns of Battle by Mike Casey. The original engine was delivered to Douglas on the Isle of Man in 1875 being works number 1524. The silver soldered copper boiler with injector and fittings including water and pressure gauges, safety valve, whistle, clack and blow down plug. Chassis detail including twin outside cylinders, Inside Stephensons gear, slide valve, fluted motion, oil lubricator. Cab controls with regulator, pressure gauges, sight glasses, drain cock lever and hand feed pump. The locomotive finished in red and black livery with fitted coal bunker, steps and hand rails, lamps and fine rivet detail. Set on display track with carrying case. Drawings and firing tools. Boiler History: Initial test certificate 160 psi Exeter MES 25th November 1987. Retest certificate to 22nd of April 2006. Valid Southern Federation of M del Engineering hydraulic test certificate to the 20th of June 2010. And a current steam test which expires 20th of June 2007 by Taunton MES. This model is built to an exhibition standard by Alec Hadfield a very respected and long time member of the Taunton Model Engineering Club. Among the award won by this locomotive are the 1988 Taunton MES Model of the year, 1989 Liskard Model Exhibition Best Visitors Model and 1996 Pecorama Steam Festival Best Exhibit. A 5 inch gauge 0-4-0 battery electric diesel design locomotive Trog, built in 1984 by the late Mr W J (Bill) Manley of Topsham Nr Exeter. The engine was run at Tiverton MES until the last two years. Now requires a new battery. The locomotive is finished in light blue and black livery and comes with a display track. Length 25 inches (63cm).

Engine details include, twin cylinders with enclosed valve gear and cranks, ratchet operated lubricator, eccentric driven feed pump and bypass, single speed chain drive to rear axle with dog clutch fitted. Chassis details include worm and quadrant operated Ackerman steering, rubber tyred wheels with hub caps, working leaf springs, rear axle differential unit, copper water tank with hand feed pump, canvas covered, removable, cab and back panel. Trailer details include riveted channel section frame, working leaf springs, rubber tyred wheels with hub caps, wooden platform sides and bottom with detachable drivers feet rests. Original boiler test certificate issued by Stuart Models dated the 11th of May 1990. Working pressure 100psi.

Chassis details include worm and quadrant operated Ackerman steering, rubber tyred wheels with brass hub caps, working leaf springs, rear axle differential unit, water tank with hand feed pump, canvas covered planked cab roof with removable rear panel and other detail. The lorry is of flat bed design and finished in red livery. Boiler history: Southern Federation of Model Engineering Societies Boiler test certificate No 2434 ESME Hastings Test Pressure 150 psi expired the 8th of May 1994. Pickering type govenor, chassis details include spoked straked wheels with solid rubber road tyres, worm and roller chain steering, belly water tanks with VC monogram, cable drum with fairleads, hand brake, generator, chimney extension, fitted canopy supported on polished brass olivers with fascia board sign written V C Chapmans, Golden Dragons. Engine details include single cylinder approximately 3 inch bore by 4 1/2 inch stroke, mechanical lubricator, Stephensons link reverse, eccentric driven feed pump and by-pass, two road speeds, Pickering style governor, whistle and spoked flywheel. Chassis details include spoked wheels with solid rubber road tyres and polished brass hub caps, cable drum and fairleads, water lifter, hand brake and footboards. The model is finished in green and black paintwork with red wheels and polished brightwork. The engine has some items not completed including linkage to hand operated brake. The boiler would appear to have never been steam and was made by Franklin Bell of Gloucester Number FB455 and hydraulically tested to 240 psi on the 17th of August 2001 by Watkins Engineering Ltd of Gloucester. No current steam test. The engine formed part of the collection of the late Ronald Phipps of Kent. Length 188cm. Width 79cm.
