DONNIE DARKOOne Sheet (27" x 39.5")Near Mint Rolled Newmarket, 2001Offered here is a beautiful rolled one sheet for this fan-favorite film, just waiting for the right person to bid on it and take it home. With only a couple of very small faint crimps evident only upon close inspection, this poster is in mint condition. One of the most enigmatic movies of the 21st century, this movie is about Donnie Darko (Jake Gyllenhaal), an emotionally troubled teenager who narrowly escapes death when a plane engine falls on his bedroom and is given a revelation by a mysterious man in a rabbit costume that tells him the world is about to end. After being shopped around Hollywood for some time, it was eventually green-lit and set for a limited release on October 26, 2001, after a successful debut at the Sundance Film Festival. Unfortunately, as its advertising prominently featured a plane crashing just one month after the events of September 11, it was barely promoted, resulting in a disappointing performance at the box office. Since then, however, it has become recognized as a thoroughly original picture and has gained a sizable cult following, which it enjoys today. This lot will be auctioned on Friday, December 8th. The auction will begin at 9:30am PST and lots are sold sequentially via live auctioneer; tune in to the live streaming broadcast on auction day to follow the pace. Note other lots in the auction may close on December 7th.
