Would have been fitted to a bus, fire engine or refuse lorry etc. Measures 3.75" x 4.25" (9.5cm x 10.5cm) and is in very good, ex-use condition with a little surface abrasion. Badge is accompanied by a 1984 letter from Hestair Dennis Ltd confirming that the badges were fitted to their vehicles from 1928 until WW2. [1]

GREAT BRITAIN STAMPS : 1870 envelope franked with five 2d blues (plate 13), postmarked London & addressed to Sydney, N.S.W.. Sent via ship to Alexandria overland to Suez & on to Galle. From there by "S.S. Avoca". On arrival a King George's Sound "Avoca" found "S.S. Malta" with engine failure & carrying mails destined for Galle. The mails, homebound, were taken by "Avoca" to Ceylon. "Malta" returned to Melbourne & Sydney with the outbound mails. Fine item!
