HMS Triumph (R16) an oval brass engine plate, 1946:, by R and W Hawthorn, Leslie & Co,Newcastle upon Tyne, for engine 'No 4001' on a mahogany mount, 52cm wide.*Notes- laid down in 1943 and launched in 1944 HMS Triumph was commissioned in 1946 as Royal Navy Colossus -class light aircraft carrier. She saw service in the Korean wars and in 1952 was converted for trials of the first angled flight decks which have now become standard configuration of aircraft carriers. From 1956 to 1965 she operated as a heavy repair ship and was finally placed into reserve in 1975. In 1981 she was scrapped in Spain.
