If you know Fords then you know the Tickford Turbo! Aston Martin’s specialist projects division Tickford unveiled a prototype Capri in 1982 at the Birmingham motorshow and went on to produce 86 Aston Martin Tickford Turbos. Built by hand from a 2.8i Capri donor car Tickford reworked the engine to include turbo and intercooler as well as other modifications, they also added disc brakes all round, suspension upgrades, limited slip differential and the now iconic body kit designed by Simon Saunders (of Arial Atom fame).Being Aston Martin the interior got an upgrade too, Recaro front seats, leather trimmed dash and headliner and walnut dial surrounds as well the obligatory boost gauge.Tickford had planned to make 250 turbos but due to over 200 man hours per car and the rising cost of the donor cars due to the Capri’s popularity only 86 were built at a cost of nearly triple the standard cars cost.Believed to be build number 4 of 86 this car finished in white with matching wheels and grey interior is the cover car of Motorsport magazine from 1984.
