A fine quality, 9ct gold and enamel Derby Mayoral pendant/medal, with original fitted case Engraved to the reverse side ‘Presented to Alderman Charles Frederick Bowmer, JP by the Corporation 1949-50’. Alderman Bowmer was Mayor of Derby from 1949-50, he was also honoured with an O.B.E in 1967 for his service to Derby Hospital’s Management Committee (the O.B.E is being offered in a separate lot). Notes: finely cast in 9ct gold, with a small enamel panel displaying the arms of Derby. Blue enamel infill with the title ‘Mayor’ and the dates of ‘1949-50’. Fully hallmarked to the reverse side for Birmingham 1949, with the makers mark of Vaughton & Sons. Complete with a length of red ribbon for wear around the neck. 36.7g weight. Condition: very good. No apparent damage to the gold or enamel. The ribbon is a little faded where it threads through the suspension loop, but this doesn’t detract.

An early 1st type German Hitler youth knife with associated scabbard. Standard nickel plated pommel and cross guard, cross hatched or chequered Bakelite grips with inset enamelled Hitler youth diamond badge. Early blade with engraved motto ‘Blut und Ehre’ - marked ‘ED Wusthof Solingen Ges.Gesch’ Black painted scabbard with leather belt loop and retaining strap. Leather washer still present at ricasso. Approximately 25.4cm length in scabbard. Notes: information supplied by the vendor states the the knife was acquired as a piece of ‘war booty’ at the end of WW2 by Douglas Fitzpatrick from the Submarine pen in Kiel, Germany. Conditon: generally fair. Wear to the nickel plating on the pommel, plus what appears to be an old repair to the enamel on the HJ diamond (the surface texture is different, and the enamel is darker). The scabbard retain around 50% of its black paint to the front, with over 90% remaining to the reverse. The blade is clean and bright, with minimal spotting. Both the motto and makers mark are clear. The leather washer at the ricasso is present but split.

To include: a 1919 hallmarked silver and enamel badge (possibly an officers cap badge) for the Denbigh Hussars, 5 mother of pearl and gilt metal badges, plus other gilt metal and enamel badges. 18 items. Condition: mostly good across many pieces. The hallmarked Denbigh Hussars badge has had the blue enamel crudely repaired to both inner edges of the ‘Ich Dien’ scroll. One of the mother of pearl badges has a missing clasp. The other badges appear to be complete and in good order.

WW1 era Royal Red Cross 2nd class medal with fitted case, by Garrard & Co. The decoration is manufactured in silver, with a red enamel infill to the arms of the cross on the obverse, plus a coinage style portrait of George V. The reverse has the Imperial GRI monogram of George V, plus the words Faith, Hope, and Charity. Complete with bow style ribbons with pin clasp, and original fitted case by Garrard & Co (marked R.R.C. 2nd to the lid). Notes: originally instituted in 1883 as an award for exceptional services in military nursing. The decoration has the distinction of being exclusively awarded to women up until 1976. Width approximately 3.5cm. Condition: very good. The enamels are undamaged, plus the silver has toned with age. Both the ribbon and box are in good order, with only very minor contact marks to the lid of the box.

Comprising of a St George’s cross of calibre cut rubies within a border of grain set diamond and and a blue enamel border, inset with the moto 'Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pence’ (evil be to he who evil thinks), outer star border of diamonds, length approx 35mm, white metal with gold pin and lever clasp, total gross weight approx 7.4gms  Condition: good all stones present, some abrasions to stone, slight enamel loss, tarnish minor wear and tear commensurate with age.

A good quality WW1 era 14ct gold and enamel RAMC sweetheart brooch. Fashioned after the cap badge for the Royal Army Medical Corps, with blue enamel infill to the banner, and red infill to the King’s crown. Complete with gold pin and an unusual folding clasp to the reverse. Marked 14ct to the back of the crown, and to the top of the bar. Approximately 4.5cm width, weight 3.7g. Complete with original tooled leather brooch box. Condition: generally very good. All enamel is intact, and there is a good level of detail to the RAMC badge. There is a slight arc to the bar part of the brooch, but this doesn’t detract.

Condition: generally very good. All of the enamel appears to be present on the badges, and the metal parts have an age related patina.

To include: a sterling silver signet ring (marked 925 JNR), a brass metal rings, 5 enamel badges, 2 buttons and a beret badge. Condition: generally good to most pieces. Enamels are intact to each of the badges, also all with intact pins. The silver ring is in good condition, and the brass example has some wear to the lacquered finish. The beret badge is bent, possible to better fit the hat.

An Admiralty pattern 300 pocket watch. White dial with Roman numerals, blue steel hands, and subsidiary dial at the 6 o’clock position. Nickel case, stamped  â€˜Patt 30’ to the back case, a large broad arrow mark and the serial number 4158. 15 jewel Swiss lever movement. Screw back cover and front, with the back cover numbered ‘3216021’ to the inside. Approximately 5.2cm wide across the face. Condition: generally solid. Small round shaped fractured to the enamel dial between the number 4 and 5. Fault to the glass between the 7 and 8 o’clock position. Nickel casing a little dulled and showing normal service wear in areas. When wound, the watch would appear to operate as it should, but this is by no means a guarantee. A fine quality mid 20th century silver gilt and enamel medallion for the Lady Mayoress of Derby, complete with green neck ribbon. Marked ‘Sterling’ to the reverse side, and engraved ‘Presented by the Corporation to Mrs Amy Evelyn Bowmer, Mayoress of Derby 1949-50 (wife of Charles Frederick Bowmer, Mayor of Derby). With small inset enamel panel depicting the arms of Derby. Plus, a cased sterling silver medallion relating to Charles Frederick Bowmer in hid capacity as a Justice of the Peace from 1942-1967. Fully hallmarked to reverse for Birmingham 1969. And another 3 sterling silver and enamel medallion / fobs relating to the Market Authorities Association. Each of the 3 is named to Alderman C.F.Bowmer J.P. Notes: Charles Frederick Bowmer was Mayor of Derby from 1949-50. His gold Mayoral badge, and his later awarded O.B.E are offered in separate lots. Condition: very good to each. Some tarnishing to the silver, but otherwise in good condition.

In the shape of a lyre, this exquisite table clock stands out for its excellent state of conservation, both in the enamel of the dial and in the gilding and in the French-style rhinestones from the mid-19th century and forming part of the decoration of an important Madrid residence. From 1860, Jules Graux's foundry was installed at 8 rue du Parc-Royal. He exhibited at the last national exhibition in Paris in 1849 and again in Paris in 1855. At the London exhibition of 1862, his work was described as "furniture bronzes, cheminée and cheminée fittings, lustres, vases, statues, groupes, objects of table service, malachite gueridon". It is mentioned that they export 35% of their production and that they make bronzes for the Hotel de la Commission. They also contributed to the Paris exhibition of 1867. In 1870, his sons M Graux-Marly took over from his father and, from then on, his works bore the GRAUX-MARLY or GRAUX-MARLY seal. FRÈRES. The foundry is famous for the quality of its cast, chiseled and gilded bronze pieces, such as clocks, candelabras, figurines and other decorative works of art. Jules Graux - Graux-Marly Fondeurs also cast bronzes for many of the most renowned sculptors of the period, including Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (French, 1827-1875), James Pradier - born Jean-Jacques Pradier (Swiss/French, 1790- 1852), Emmanuel Frémiet (French, 1824-1910), Albert-Ernest Carrier-Belleuse (French, 1824-1887), Alfred Emmanuel Louis Beurdeley (French, 1847-1919), as well as the reproduction of important and popular antique models, of the Renaissance and later.
