A French gold and enamel ‘13’ pendant and other items, comprising; the ‘13’ applied to a round disc enamelled in white with a grid pattern, swinging within a partially blue enamelled frame, French gold marks, 22mm diameter, hung from a black ribbon; together with a black moiré silk strap with gold mounts stamped ‘9ct’, together with an unmarked gold ‘T’ bar and hung with a floral-chased base-metal split ring and a partially gilded oval fob seal inset with an oval yellow paste and with an anchor and circlet framed surmount.
A GROUP OF 13 PORCELAIN PLATESJapan and China, Kangxi period (1661-1722) to 19th century. Consisting of seven 19th century plates, five of them painted in underglaze cobalt blue, one with a mark to base, and two Imari plates attractively decorated, one with an apocryphal Wanli mark to base and the second with an inscription "rich long life" to base. Four blue and white Kangxi lobed plates, one with a Kangxi mark to base. And finally, two Japanese plates, the first with raised rim and underglaze blue decoration mixed with enamel painting; the second a very rare plate worked in two techniques, the center worked in cloisonne and the borders painted in underglaze cobalt blue, the base with a Japanese inscription, possibly Seto ware. The flaring trumpet neck and domed base of the gu are finely enameled with the Eight Precious Objects, bajixiang, adorned with fluttering ribbons and entwined with the curly vines of a lotus meander, divided by a bulbous mid-section below bands of ruyi-heads, upright lappets, key-fret patterns and floral scrolls, all against a bright lemon-yellow ground.Provenance: French private collection, acquired from a gallery in Marseille.Condition: Very good condition with only minor old wear, particularly to gilt, some fritting to mouth rim.Weight: 1,097 gDimensions: Height 27.7 cmVases of this type are usually found as part of an altar garniture, with matching incense burner and candlestick holders, all invariably decorated with bajixiang and lotus scrolls.
