A FRENCH GILT BRONZE AND CHAMPLÊVÉ ENAMEL GARNITURE DE CHEMINEE the clock in breakarched case flanked by flambeaux and dolphins, the figure of Putto seated on a plinth, the urns of shield shape and decorated with flowers on a bleu celeste ground, the bell striking movement with medallic backplate, clock 43cm h, c1880 ++The urns drilled for electricity and with obsolete fitment. All encrusted with dirt and grime, the gilding darkened with age. The frosted glass back door cracked. Some parts loose but complete, the movement in apparently working order, the enamels undamaged

A German post WW1 Deutsche Zeppelin–Reederei crew badge. A small pin back badge approx 20mm in size, of brass and bright blue enamel with ‘Deutsche Reederie Zeppelin’ to the outer circle, with stylised zeppelin over the globe inside. The silvered reverse marked ‘Paul Kust Berlin SW19’ VGC minor wear.
An interesting large bronze memorial plaque. 130cm x 36.5cm tall, with raised rim and inscription ‘This room is dedicated to the memory of William Rose Gent O.B.E. (sic) who died in the service of his country at Beauvais France while serving as Chief Engineer on the Royal Naval Airship R.101 which was wrecked on October 5th 1930. During the great war he was a Chief Petty Officer of the R.N.A.S. and R.A.F., being twice mentioned in despatches. In July 1919 he twice crossed the Atlantic in the Airship R.34’. The main inscription is inlaid in white enamel, the name in pale blue; the reverse has 6 threaded fittings for securing. VGC.
France: Decoration du Lys, being a crowned fleur de lys on oval band, set onto a white riband suspended by a circular medallion showing Louis XVIII with motto “Vive le Roi” and enclosed within blue and green enamelled laurel wreath. The award is mounted upon its original award document, printed and completed in ink in favour of “Le Chevalier Richard Marshall, Doctor in Medicine, Totnes, Devon, Grande Bretagne” and housed in an old frame, 20m x 25cm, the reverse of which is inscribed “Decoration du Lys Bestowed by King Louis XVIII 1815 on Richard Marshall MD in recognition of his kindness and attentions to the French Prisoners at Dartmoor during the Peninsular War”. Generally GVF (some very minor enamel chipping, frame some damage). A most interesting item Plate 1 Note: French Prisoners of War were housed in Dartmoor Prison from 1809, these were soon joined by American Prisoners from the War of 1812. Those surviving the wars were repatriated and the prison lay empty until rebuilt in the mid 19th Century. In 2009 the prison, reputed to be the most severe in England, ‘celebrated’ its bicentenary.

George III rosewood and brass inlaid bracket clock circa 1820, by Henry Strowbridge, Dawlish, with stepped caddy top surmounted by a cast bronze pineapple finial, the convex glass surrounded by brass bezel, enclosing a painted enamel dial (worn) with Roman numerals and outside minute track, pierced blue steel hands, the sides with pierced fish-scale sound frets and bronze cornucopia ring handles, the fusee movement with anchor escapement, striking on a gong, the case raised on four ball supports, 21in high, 12½in wide.
